I see so if a game is enjoyable then it's for nubs I guess. I don't want to play EQ again or any game that requires large quantities of time wasted in small chunks with no breaks so I guess I'm a nub. If I wanted something hard then I'd so it in real life like C# that I"m learning right now. I guess I'm a wise nub at least.
Lol C# is hard? Switch professions plz. Anyway, your arguments make no sense. WoW is a newb game because the PvE and PvP content require no skill. It's just a game made for people without brains imo. The type of people who play WoW remind me of brainless zombies. They keep doing the same thing over and over to get "better gear". Attaining that gear is boring, yet they will keep playing, as if WoW was going to magically get less boring..
LOL! Yeah.... C# == Java... LITE! LOL! Okay, but if you want a hard language you got some out there like LISP or any particular brew of Assembly you like, I've been trained on MASM (*gags*), but I'm going to learn NASM next Autumn for fun. :-P

Everything is implied in your words that a game must be difficult. Most games aren't difficult to begin with. The premise of games it to be fun which while differnt for everyone isn't generally hard. I can enjoy and easy game and one that has no conflict with other players. This so called easy single player content is generally quite enjoyable to many.
I'm not sure why I'm arguing with someone who uses the words snap, pwnt, and nub anyway. These are sure signs of immaturity.

Games like WoW are for people who are very easily amused, since the content is all trivial. I don't know why thes people don't just go play pong or something.

I am amused by the story and the quests plain and simple. You have to actually like stories and reading. You know reading is fundamental.
You can keep critisizing people who play WoW all you want, but you are the one who sounds foolish with the way your immature nature comes accross constantly IMO.

So you read quests that have nothing to do with the game lore, good one. They would have been better off if their quests read like "Go kill 10 boars", and they didnt need to make up a dumb reason. But apparently some people read it.

Total and utter bullshit. Have you played Go? Or Chess? Or any significant strategy based game? At all, in your entire life? A game that's easy to play as in easy to interface with does not imply easy to win or compete. That's the key difference in what I have said and what you want me to say.
I can enjoy and easy game and one that has no conflict with other players. This so called easy single player content is generally quite enjoyable to many.
That's because you probably never played Chess, Go, Pool, Tennis, and similarly competative games.

The differnce between you and me is that you require some form of motivation via competition. I on the otherhand can enjoy the little things a game has to offer. Many times competition just leads to bad things happening anyway. More often then not it does. Try and find a better reason to play whatever game your playing IMO. Even when I play Tennis/Hockey or whatever I don't want to make the other person feel bad. I just want to compete to a level where we are both enjoying ourselves.
lol, you dont want to make the other player feel bad. That's the problem with WoW. They've created a game where it is not exciting to beat another player, and where it doesnt matter if you lose vs another player. Great solution..make it boring for everyone who plays it.

This type of attitude is exactly why I usually don't enjoy PvP games. I'm sure you feel the same way PvE games. I guess the solution is don't play them and wait for the game that has such conflict that will sate your appetite. Complaining about WoW and trying to get other people to believe the game is not fun is fruitless.

Then play DnD, but MMOs offer more than what DnD or any other table-top of similar concept could provide. You probably weren't a mudder. You see, most of your PVP fans are not FPS kiddos, but rather former mudders, or even MUD developers. We like the idea of players being able to interact beyond the team. We like the idea of crafting. We like the idea of players controlling the world. We like the idea of players competing for that world. And so on. Everything a mudder and MUD developer enjoys is player centric. You enjoy story centric games. Which are all well and good, but not the foundation of MMOs. Codebase-wise and concept-base-wise MMOs are directly related to MUDs, thus their design, by default, are player centric, not story centric. Get use to that fact and see your way out of the genre that we mudders created its bedrock. Every word you spout has been spittle in the face of twenty years of MUD development. Twenty good years. That's why I insult you. Because you insulted me by your ignorance.

Yeah, like having friends that you enjoy playing with, and even enemies that are equally, if not better, at the same game you enjoy. That's why I love old school PVP games like shadowbane. When it's not ran by zergers and gankers, it's a great game, even if you lose. Frack, I know folks at the SB forums that say, "Well we lost the bane last night, but it was a blast." More than they whine about losing, they actually enjoy the fact they don't win every time.
I on the otherhand can enjoy the little things a game has to offer.
So do I. For example, in LOTRO, there's a little quest given by a hobbit named Ronald, after you finish a quest nearby. He wants you to give a note to his friends at a tavern in the Shire, which all four of them (himself included) are geeks for languages and stories. The reward is a smoking pipe, and good food. Gee, Turbine was nice enough to make JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, and company into hobbits. Fancy that. Gee, I did like that quest, even though it did nothing to add any equipment for my character class. None the less, little things like this are not in games like WoW. WoW has no story. None, nada, zip, zero. Even AC 1 and 2 had some semblence of a story, and that you actually watched it as you went to each dungeon's end to enjoy it along with experience points as a reward. Holy CARP! WoW couldn't even come close to that, ever. And never will.

Because people obsess over winning and not playing the game. Have you ever wondered why that is? It's because some folks are overly 'wired' to want to win, so they conceive that every act must be about winning. It's rather Nietzschean too, and sad in my opinion, that such folks think this way. That's why there's two kinds of folks like that. Those that are overly stimulated by the "I WIN" button of WoW. And those that are overly stimulated by the "I PWNT J00"/Ganker of raw PVP games. Sadly, there's no magic formula to separate both from MMOs other than Joe Pesci meeting up with them in a dark alley armed with a ball bat. So, we must struggle on with these pastey nub morons until the Sun burns out. :-P

I agree with most of that. I didn't know MUDs were so PvP oriented. That doesn't mean it's whats popular in the majority of society. Ultima Online proved that I believe. Look how many people jumped ship including myself when Everquest came out. Ultima was far more of a world where you had conflict and could PvP. I prefer the story type game of EQ and now WoW or even LOTRO. I don't want the I win button. I just don't look at winning as my main objetive in the game. It's to enjoy the ride. Many times PvP disentegrates to all these silly little rambles and insults like pwnt which I find silly. I'm not into it.
Yeah, and half the USA population doesn't agree with Evolutionary Theory, but does that make it wrong? What I mean by that is, just because the majority dislike something does not mean it's wrong, it simply means the majority either could be wrong, or maybe no one is wrong. In either case, you haven't shown me squat to prove your case against me, so I suggest you make your case, or I will put you back on block promptly.

What case do I have against you? I'm not in this to win or lose.
That was fun. Anyway, on our pvp servers no one really pvped. There was an unspoken truce most of the time so people could PvE. And really, why would you PVP unless you wanted to waste time? You'd have to keep killing the same stubborn player over and over. In most MMORPGS, you kill them once and they evacuate the area due to fear.
Ive tried arenas before. I let my friend use my account so he bought TBC and registered it.. Anyway, the arenas were very boring. It isnt that much different than a BG except you get to play against other players every time you kill them.
it is a lot different than bg's, first of all its not a honor grind like bg's are. second you don't gain arena points by the amount of time you spend in a instance like bg's and end game raiding.
you need skill and teamwork to be successful in arenas, there are no pick up groups like bg's, you need to purchase a team and know what the hell you are doing or you will get your ass handed to you.
Yeah WoW competition is real fun i bet. You don't compete with anyone on WoW. They might as well have made it a game where each guild gets their own server, since you aren't competing with other guilds why does it matter?
this quote just kills me, no competition in wow pvp but there is in eq? how is being godlike and unkillable "competitive" in the least bit? i will agree the honor system isn't competitive at all and that is why it is garbage, but the arena pvp is definitely competitive, way more competitive than eq pvp ever was.
also this might be news to you but not all mmog's are made just for uber guilds, there is more to these games than simply having guilds compete against each other. if that is what you want then (yes i sound like a broken record) go back to eq.
i don't know why you keep posting on this topic, it is clear you cannot think outside of that garbage of a pvp system that is eq. everyone keeps telling you why you are wrong but yet you refuse to listen, just play the game that makes you happy and stop worrying about the games you know nothing about.

Even AC 1 and 2 had some semblence of a story, and that you actually watched it as you went to each dungeon's end to enjoy it along with experience points as a reward. Holy CARP! WoW couldn't even come close to that, ever. And never will.Because people obsess over winning and not playing the game. :-P

Again, immaturity does not imply one is wrong. Please focus on logic instead of your feelings.

I am not trying to start a flame war but WOW is a fun game to play. But it does have it flaws, but at least it is not anuther DDO.
WoW doesnt even have best of the best tournaments, special titles, etc. Very weak
people who say WoW is lousy have never really played on a good server !
RPPVP is the best class of server.
well wow keeps me occupied for at lest 2 hours. But the best is lotro and daoc
The only time I RP pvped i pissed off some kid real bad because I kept beating him and roleplaying.

That was fun. Anyway, on our pvp servers no one really pvped. There was an unspoken truce most of the time so people could PvE. And really, why would you PVP unless you wanted to waste time? You'd have to keep killing the same stubborn player over and over. In most MMORPGS, you kill them once and they evacuate the area due to fear.
it is a lot different than bg's, first of all its not a honor grind like bg's are. second you don't gain arena points by the amount of time you spend in a instance like bg's and end game raiding.
you need skill and teamwork to be successful in arenas, there are no pick up groups like bg's, you need to purchase a team and know what the hell you are doing or you will get your ass handed to you.
this quote just kills me, no competition in wow pvp but there is in eq? how is being godlike and unkillable "competitive" in the least bit? i will agree the honor system isn't competitive at all and that is why it is garbage, but the arena pvp is definitely competitive, way more competitive than eq pvp ever was.
also this might be news to you but not all mmog's are made just for uber guilds, there is more to these games than simply having guilds compete against each other. if that is what you want then (yes i sound like a broken record) go back to eq.
i don't know why you keep posting on this topic, it is clear you cannot think outside of that garbage of a pvp system that is eq. everyone keeps telling you why you are wrong but yet you refuse to listen, just play the game that makes you happy and stop worrying about the games you know nothing about.
