Funcom knows better than to do this. The AO release was one of the most horrid of it's time because it was rushed. I'd rather wait on AoC another couple months than to have it released with a terrible launch.
They've set the date as October 30th, 07 for release. If they push it back to further better the game, more power to them.

My opinion is Funcom at this point is taking WAY WAY WAY to long to release, I have actively been following this game now for over 2 years and I have to say that they have till October 30th for me. Another postponement will have me trying WAR or another promising game, one way or the other my wait is over on October 30, 2007. I am done waiting.

Pusing back a release "based on beta feedback" is pretty much what everyone should want. I mean these forums light up everytime a game releases even tho the feedback said not to.
Based on that why would I play WAR instead of AoC when Funcom seems to be taking the time do it "right" ?
Mythic had a solid launch with DAoC and I think a good amount of players that came out of beta into live.. and were playing until recently.. have a pretty ah shall we say muddy view of Mythic.. and EA certainly doesn't help.
Funcom was a very small company that had a very rough launch yet is still around.
Mythic has more to prove to me at this point... and sorry I'm not a fanboi of either game. I just know my personal experience with Mythic over the years.. and ultimately what brought me to cancel my accounts.
Funcom ... I personally have always liked Anarchy Online.. but ya.. no denying it had a bad start.
If I could only afford one game... I'd buy AoC but that's for personal reasons. I will most likely buy both.. but there is no way that WAR is going to keep me from playing AoC.
However, if AoC launched first and I really enjoyed it... no I wouldn't buy WAR (but that's for personal reasons again).
I only see this delay as the kind of thing people have asked for.... for years. Now its suddenly a bad thing that a game is delayed to "fix" things... /ponders
Like most people, all it means to me is that anything out in the 6 months prior to its new release date has a chance to catch my interest and hold it. that will certainly cost some sales, how many is anyone's guess.
I did say the combat looked clunky, or not so great. But without regard to that if something else comes out first and I love it then I will be playing it. I typically only get into one game at a time so like most people if it releases and I don't have a game that holds my interest I will try it, if I am happy in a game I won't (until later when I am looking for something). Pretty typical I would think.
im deffenitly one of them, i was sooo excited about AoC and then it gets pushed back? they pretty much lied so im going to WAR and il prolly give AoC a shot
It's ready when Funcom thinks it's ready...not a moment before. I just wish they had acted on beta tester input sooner.Yep...I think they knew of the "problem" for some time. Thats why they went out and got that 30 million dollar loan months ago. They just decided at the last moment to announce the launch pushback(their 2nd one) .
At least they learned from the mistakes of Anarchy Online and aren't going to push it out to the public too early. That nearly killed them and pushed their development back almost into the Ice Ages trying to catch up with the patching and PR bandaging. Personally, even though I might not get the game, I believe it is a very sound decision to push it back.
So, funcom admitted they messed up and disappointed many people. This means they listened to testers before it was to late. It means they learned from the launch horror that was AO (the worse I've ever seen, though not the worse launch ever). It means the game will have fewer bugs come launch. I'm not so hard up for something new that this will cause me to play something else. Most especialy Warhammer. Wait a miniute, didn't Warhammer online push back their release date last month? So I guess they must have lied as well. Oh well. To each his own. Good luck were ever you end up.
Funcom didn't lie because they delayed the game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them delaying the game.
They lied because they said the game was finished and just in the tweaking stage, they lied because they said the combat was awesome and everyone loved it, they lied because they said people that wanted proof that the game was ready for release were asking for too much... and then a few days later, THEY THEMSELVES ADMIT ITS NOT READY FOR RELEASE. They admit there have been many complaints about the combat from actual beta testers. These complaints didn't just start a few days ago - they were going on all the time. And even when they were, they still painted the picture that everything was rosy.
Warhammer did not claim any of those things before its delay. Quite the contrary, they have been very open about everything. They regularly show footage that they know isn't complete, to reveal their progress and to show the community they aren't about hiding the condition of the game and the progress that is being made.
Funcom would do well to adopt this philosophy - maybe if they spent less time throwing childish insults at them , they could learn from Mythic.

If Warhammer comes out before AoC, and it receives favourable reviews, I will likely not bother with AoC.

Going to try out, dunno, we'll see.
People are expecting AoC and WAR to like save them or something, without having a clue what the games will be like. Trust
me, they are going to run into all the problems that WoW did.

One word VANGUARD
Do we really want to see another one of those? Let Funcom take their time and make a working MMO.
