I played WOW for two years solid. Sometimes I played over ten hours a day when I was levelling. ....bunch of stuff removed... There needs to be so much more people with solo play in mind can do.
I just love posts like this. He plays for 2 years solid, sometimes for over 10 hours a day and then has the nerve to say there just needs to be so much more to do. LOL
You can NEVER satisfy people like this. They will always find something to complain about. If he played everyday for 10 years straight he would still say there needs to be more to do.
Do you people even remember before there was online play and you would play a game for a couple weeks maybe and get to the end and say, "What a great game!!!". The average length of a non-online game these days is what about 10 or 20 hours of playtime? I think 2 years of playtime is doing pretty darn good. I know I would have never in my wildest dreams thought I would play a game for 2+ years about 10 years ago. I used to go thru a game about once a month then. Amazing how things change and yet some things still stay the same...someone's always bitching they need more.
Well guess what I play WoW now for almost a week I have 5 charcters 1) Xagnon, Lvl 3 Orc Warrior(male) 2) Zamnion, Lvl 2 Night Elf Druid(male) 3) Drantor, Lvl 3 Human Mage(male) 4) Trondos, Lvl 4 Undead Rouge(male) 5) Gamliok, Lvl 1 Dwarf PALADIN so go ahead rip on me all u want
Thats like a combined total of 2 hours played, LOL
Yeah I have to agree with OP. I love collecting gear and grinding rep. The world pvp is all over the place and I love the capture the flag bg game. I use to love playing CTF as a kid but so much better in WoW. Whenever I turn around there are so many grinds I can take part in. I cant wait for the next few expansions so I can level up more and collect the new gear that comes out!

dude are you like posing in the wrong thread or something?
i currently have about 4-5 level 70 characters spread out between PVE, PVP ,RP servers.
the leveling i love of a character as long as i can get them past 15-25 ((hardest part of the grind to due trying to keep it interested))
i can level a hard in about 12days from 1-60, but have done that twice and had no fun so now taking my time again savoring the quests and helping anyone i come across.
it's true at level 70 even though the top level the game does become a drag with the rep grinds, daily quests, pvp and raiding being the ONLY things that you can do and after a couple of weeks/months it does get extremely boring as after a while you start to memorize loot tables boss strategies etc.
but as a game to new players it still has it's magic for the easy to get into thing and the controls are rather simple
It's great you like it so much. It's not for everyone but it's got a lot of good things going for it and some people really like it a lot.
I was grossed out with the almost constant X rated sexual conversations, gutter filth profanity, spamming of the trade channel and extreme harassment of people who wanted to be reimbursed for their hard earned trade skills rather than give them away free.
I finally turned off the text windows and felt more relaxed but that seemed wrong since I was a paying customer so it was time to leave.
1) I am not a 14 year old, I am a 51 year old female player.
2) Why listen to General Chat tab, I don't I open the Combat Tab.
I like WoW.
I left "The Realm" for Asheron's Call
I left Asheron's Call for Horizons
I left Horizons for SWG-preCU
I left SWG-post CU for WoW
I played open beta of LotRO but while it is a great Game, I couldn't leave WoW
I have downloaded several F2P MMO's still keep logging into WoW
The closest I come is I play Toon Town when I too frustrated to level a Alt on WoW, However Just because I get Frustrated Doesn't mean I ready to leave WoW!

Saying WoW is the best game in the world is an openion, Not a fact! I give you that it is the best selling game that is a fact, (for the sheep) and that it has over 3 mil users workd wide. But not the best game. I don't feel there is a way to grant any game as "The Best Game in The WorId"
I tried it several times and for me it's not the best game.
I am glad you like it that much though. Keep playing it and I will keep playing mine.
NOTE:
this was not to flame you. I just wanted to state my feeling on you post.
Tried it for 4 months and just walked away from it because it lacks so much and has to many restrictions, the only two good things going for it is that its not a graphics hog and it allows 10 characters but other than that theres not much to it and the community tends to leave alot to be desired.
A week has 168 hours. Average work week is 40 hours, add the time it takes to get there and back as 1 hour per day. 47 Hours A proper social life takes about 10-15 hours a week. Family responsabilities, daily tasks etc will take about a couple of hours per day (dropping and picking kids up at school, etc.) That means 14 hours over a week. Sleeping is recommended at 8-9 hours. Let's say you sleep 8 hours per day and 9 on the weekends, that means 58 hours of sleep per week. Everyday personal tasks like showering, taking a dump, eating, makeup (for women), etc. will take another 2 hours per day at least. So that's another 14 hours.
So that's 168-47-15-14-58-14 = 20 hours for entertainment.
That means you spend 20 hours of your week playing WoW, leaving 0 hours for all other activities, such as watching T.V, playing sports, etc. which leaves you 1 hour per week.
Unless you somehow manage to cut down on some of that stuff I listed above, THE ONLY fun thing you'll be doing in your life (including during weekends) is playing WoW. It's your only entertainment. You don't watch T.V, you don't do sports...
I mean I guess it's possible, but it's pretty damn extreme. I mean to wake-up after 8 hours of sleep, do your daily stuff, drop your kid off, run to work, socialise during breaks, rush to your kid's school to pick them up after work, run home, eat, and then sit and play WoW until you go to sleep? And perhaps socialise on week-ends with some people. That's one hell of a boring way of life, no offense or anything. I mean if you're telling me 50 people in your guild are average guys with families, jobs etc. and that they all do this then....that's one messed up guild.
So i'll ask again... Are you serious?
Ok, children it's time for math class. About the only thing you got right above is that a week does indeed have 168 hours in it.
40 hours work week is normal, but since most of us only work 5 days a week, 1 hour travel time per day would be 5 hours, not 7.
Not sure how you figure a proper social life is 10-15 hours, but lets assume you're correct here.
Same with family responsibilities although that seems like a bit of a stretch. More like 1 hour a day I would think. Not sure where your kids go to school but unlikely it takes you 2 hours to pick them up and drop them off. Maybe if you add in cooking/cleaning/yard work in here then maybe 2 hours a day is about right.
I think 8 hours is recommend sleep for kids. Most adults get by on far less, like maybe 6 to 7 hours a day. So lets say it's 6 during the week and 7 on the weekends. That give us an extra 14 hours.
Again 2 hours to eat, shower and shave or whatever seems like a stretch for most people, but lets say you're correct there too.
That's still an extra 16 hours a week that you haven't accounted for. Besides that many people do more than 1 of these things at the same time like shower and have a social life...j/k. Ever hear of eating and having a social life? How many of us eat at the computer these days or work thru lunch? Drop your kids off on the way to work? A lot of these things start to overlap so you can't just put hard numbers on them.
20 hours a week for entertainment seems pretty reasonable to me. Personally I don't watch TV except to watch sports. I used to play sports, but I'm 44, so that's kinda out these days. I do excercise every once in a while, but it's probably not more than a couple times a week and only takes maybe an hour when I do. I sit down to the computer after supper and will play for a couple hours a night. Sometimes less, sometimes, like on the weekends more. That's less than 3 hours a day, that doesn't seem like a stretch to me at all.
Well I can proudly say that if you do not like this game than you havent done 2 things. 1) Watch videos posted on www.youtube.com and search up World of Warcraft, 2) Play it
Umm, I've played WoW. Bought it on release day. Had fun for like five months. Spent about three months realizing that the game is a real SPoS. I have seen some YouTube videos... but I was actually playing the game most of the time, not watching forums and wandering around YouTube. You should try it. So I can proudly say that you're wrong. You assumed everything you just said. Know what they say about assuming? Here's something that I can piece together through logic and not jamming the pieces together. You are not playing WoW right now, and if you are you are not paying attention, hence you are still playing.
The graphics compared to EQ are a let down, should be better then the original?
The game play, well compared to EQ, Eve, or Linage II....again it sucks.
The people that play the game, well your suppose to be out there killing off the other side, not dancing and dueling your own side around the griffin rider. And lord help us if the other side raids...all the high levels log out..
And did I mention the quest? No? Well again they SUCK!
I have not been on any raids, or large raid dungeons, but I can only assume the same they are going to SUCK.
No WoW is not the best game ever, its a medicore stop gap game untill somthing else comes along.....
It has been 24 hours since I read what derf26 said in his timeline. It grates that a child, yes to me he is a child, can judge me on the amount of time I spend online gaming. I have not worked for longer than Derf has been alive ( according to his Profile) And since I am homebound due to Disabilities My Social Life is a little slim. I do phone and talk to local Guild members but that is it .
BUT! my life is never a bore. I can talk to players all over the world, without them making assumptions.
So Derf live abit before you Judge how I and others spend our time.

Please, It's a game and one that will fall to the way side like all the others, it's graphic's aren't the best. it's a basic MMo game, it set some standards for other MMo games to follow, like mass media ad's for 3 years before it's release date, I saw the popularity of this game swell in like a tide and I will see it recede like a tide and I don't think it's receding to turn into a tidal wave, more like a small puddle in the end, it will go the same way it sent all the other MMo games that tried to share the lime light with it and that would be poetic justice.
so just remember, that your praising a game, that has spent more money on advertising, than it did on the game development, which your paying for.
Also remember, that this game has stockholders, that blizzard has to keep happy.
Keeping you happy is optional.
just some small things to think about, when you jump in the air next time and yell,"WOW is the best,( or some such nonsense)"
Remember, you can always vote with your wallet/purse or your time.

This game has got to be the best game i have ever played. There is so much shit to do in the game. And its insanely addictive, so if you havnt tried it go out and buy it. It will be the best thing that ever happened to you! ^_^................ You will get hooked on it like a whore on heroin.
get over it you WoW haters are probably just mad because u cant get the hang of it and you are all just noobs.
and i'm not sayin evryone in this forum is a WoW hater either a couple of people think like that confusing
First of all, don't dub everyone who dislikes a hater. Secondly, spelling the word you out doesn't take too long. Thirdly, I did get the hang of WoW, it's kind of why I left. Fourthly, if you were actually listening to our argument, you would know that the reason we all "hate" WoW is because it is for "noobs". Fifthly, I have no clue what you are trying to say with that last line. Lastly, WoW is a game that is easy to despise. What you do is you mindlessly quest until you are max level, then raid for weeks until you have maxed out gear, then you grind PvP and raise your rank until the next expansion, at which point you do it all again. This game is the ultimate white wash, you work so that you can work harder, so that you can play crappy PvP better. Then start over next year.
yes, you could be very right mr BrebdonB, so I'll use the word Investor instead of Stockholder, if that makes you feel any better about WOW and it's three year mass blanket media Ad bombing run, which was equal to winzip's ad's or more recently Shrek.
and of course Blizzard don't care what it's investors want, they only want what you want, don't they?
