No PVP, took forever to sign in clicking 20 different things, had to lvl in groups, can only use 1 charater had to pay for more, too little english speaking people, boring story and quests, not alot of different armor, ugly player characters ect.

well kill monster level up kill monster level up

    START OVER

kill monster level up kill monster level up kill monster level up

    START OVER

kill monster level up craft an item kill monster level up

It was just overly disappointing to me.  The quests were very boring and cumbersome in my opinion.

I'll be quitting when EQ2 comes out.

FFXI is average for me, nothing great. Just reading this post is making want to cancel and go back to City of Heroes. haha ::::01::

    I'm only a level 15 Warrior/Hume.

I'm currently playing city of heros. Its not a game I'll be playing for very long...but I quit FFXI so I could play it. I had several jobs at level 20 and above...two jobs were over level 30 , my WAR and my BLM. I also had a ninja, ranger, and paladin. My paladin was 15...I got so sick of idiots in Valkurm dunes getting me killed.

The game really sucks though...the quests are too insane, just way too long ...the worst part of the game is the travel system. You can't get an airship pass until you get some insane rank, and doing all those missions takes an insane amont of hours. Then there's the price of armor and weapons...
The clunky interface didn't help either.

I'm glad I quit, but it was hard to do so after putting in so much time and effort into it.

I didn't quit FFXI yet but it is almost like i have since ive been slowly drifting away from it. Don't get me wrong, this game IS good, but being a lvl 15 Warrior Hume stuck in Valkurm on the same level for a MONTh isnt a desierable place to be in. The Missions in this game are cool, if a bit tedious. And i bet about 1/2 of you guys never really got far into the game. Now you guys who have chocobos and stuf and have gotten relatively far and can travel relatively well, i dont blame you guys for quitting, at least you actuall TRIED. But to you guys who got to lvl 10 and then said "This game sux", for SHAME! But i do agree that the game DOES get repetitive, so i dont blame you. But i DID pay about 100 dollars so far  on the game and playing it  (i have the PC version that costs 50 bucks), so im reluctant on quitting.image

I started playing the game when it first came out and played it quite frequently for about 4-5 months.  I got a Mithra to L28RDM.  It was around 25 that I started getting quite frustrated and bored with the game.  This was due in fact because of the forced grouping and not being able to find a group, the auctioning and farming to get items, and the overall sameness of the game.  I kept saying that I wasn't going to quit because I wanted to get a Ranger.  In the end my frustration with the grouping and boredom factor (while waiting for a group or fishing), turned out to be the end for me.

I quit when I was accepted into the beta for L2 & CoH.  I played both for a while and am now playing CoH full time.

    i just canceled and removed

    several reasons.

nm forget it you can never get them.

can you say farming.sorry but i have a job already dont need a second one.

i spent 2 weekends lfp as a BRD.finally had to play whm to get a pt.in past month my brd got ONE level and whm got 6.

i enjoyed the game BUT you rach a point where pt get harder and game gets BORING.

    stuff to expensive.

reason for lack of exploring is lack of bind spots. a bind spell would be nice.

Ok, i don't think you even played FFXI, if you did, it was probably for less than the first 10 levels. Because:

    1. Signing in takes about 4-5 clicks for me, not 20
    2. You don't HAVE to lvl in groups if you have a good job combination such as BST/WHM
    3. 1 character is enough, unless if you need more space for items and stuff like that
    4. There are tons of english speaking people, in fact, there is too little japanese speaking people that I meet.
    5. Story and quests aren't boring, maybe if you haven't even leveled above 10.
    6. I do not thing the PC are ugly at all, it must be your resolution and textures, turn it up.

    1.  Yes it does take alot of click, load click, load.  Most MMORPGs have like 2 clicks and your in.  And i know it more than 4, more like 8 or 9.

    2.  BST/WHM is the ONLY soloable job combo.  And the BST was recently nerfed.

    3.  Most people have a mule, an alt (different race), or another person (wife GF, friend) who plays on the account.

    4.  Prolly depends on the server.

    5.  Story and Quests ARE boring and repetitive.

    6.  The character models are horrible, even with full graphics.  You cant customize them at all, theres like 4 different faces.  Just lame.

I stopped playing not too long ago... it just lost it's fun factor for me.  Finding a group was becoming a pain after level 40 (Mithra Theif) and i felt no sense of progression.  I tried other classes and i just became fustrated again.

    Hmm, let's see...

    1) Almost impossible to make Gil.image

    2) Notorious Monsters(NMs) drop rates were pathetic, and they were always over-camped.image

    3) Melee/Tanks sucked.image

    4) Healer aggro was ridiculous.image

    5) Crafting was insanely expensive, and crafting items were difficult to come by without being rich.image

    6) As a Tarutaru White Mage/Black Mage, once I hit my 50's, spells and gear became unaffordable.image

    7) Forget becoming a Summoner until you attain the godly levels, which absolutley sucked...image

    8) No Bahamut? Where was Tiamat? Where were any of the really cool Guardian Forces/Spirits/Avatars that would have made Summoner really worthwhile, and worth the damn trouble?image

    9) What?!? I have to be a Thief with Treasure Hunter 2 to get anything worth selling in my Auction House?  What if I like only playing casters? What's that you say? No one even wants to party with a Thief until they have at least Treasure Hunter 1?image

    10) I just spent thousands of my Conquest Points for this?!?!  It looks like my Newbie Armor!image

    11) I'm sorry <insert any close FFXI friend's name here>, I didn't mean to get 2-3 levels ahead of you, and now the experience curve is screwed up.  Maybe you can party with someone else to catch up... I know, I know.  I'm the White Mage, and you're the Dark Knight no one wants to party with, but you'll catch up, I swear!image

    12) Hey, you look just like me! Hey, so do you! Oh my God, he does too!! CLONES!!!image

imageUnlucky 13) Hmm... been searching for a party for (ungodly number) hours now... guess I'll go read a book or something. *private message* Hi, wanna party? *reply* sorry, man.  My eyes are on fire from staring at the monitor too long. Going to log for a while. <goes and pounds head against the wall>

    lvl 28 BLM Taru

    1. Too hard to find a group
    2. Always fighting the same monsters
    3. Hard to earn cash
    4. Everybody looks the same

    1. It's 5 for me, I connect when I start POL, save password.
    3. I was just stating to the person that you don't NEED an extra char, unless if you need extra space, which won't happen anytime in the early-mid levels.
    4. That's why you go research about which server has the most english speaking people, then go on some FFXI forums and find a world pass to it, or just keep creating+deleting a characters until u get the world you want. I know I did, took me less than 1 hour to find a working worldpass for that server (FAIRY).
    5. It's all personal opinion and interest really. Some find it boring, some find it not boring.
    6. There are 9-10 faces, and 2 hair colour for each face. Although the CUSTOMIZATION is bad, but your making it sound worst. I don't think they look ugly, and they look perfect in FMV's.

Come on Xaro, admit it...the login interface is wacked.  I've played more than 4 mmorpgs, and I've never seen a more annoying login interface than PlayOnline.  PlayOnline's viewer sucks completely.

Don't also forget that the damned game can't run in windows mode and you can't alt-tab to check something on the web, you have to log out first!

I went back to playing EQ for a while and guess what they have...you type /exit and POOF you're out of the game and back in your desktop in seconds! its awesome....how many times I had to leave in a hurry and stupid PlayOnline made me click a bunch of things to exit gracefully without getting error messages when I logged back on.

Maybe you should check out the features of POL someday, it's a software, not just something where you have to use to login to FFXI.

Also, why don't u just press the X button if you in SUCH a hurry? It's not like you lose anything important, right?

They made it so you can't run in windows mode or alt+tab out because that prevents bots.

I quite this game because I found it really boring. I was only a lvl 13 warrior, wanting to become a dragoon. I tgrouped 1 time and they kicked me for no reason. Now that I stopped playing, there wanteing me to pay for something I already payed for... I didnt even play this game for 20 days and I'm getting charged with fees...   OMG....

I'm made the critical lvl of 30 with my 30whm/18bm!!!! but that was my objective and play beyond that point was pointless!!!!

  • TymoraTymora Member UncommonPosts: 1,295

FFXI started getting very addicting and took up way too much of my time at home.  I began to spend more time playing than I did with my family.  I was thinking about it at work too much, and generally getting to be in a bad place about it.

This all says good things about the game, but it's still why I had to quit.  So what am I doing now, playing Everquest again, hee hee.  It's just not the same as it used to be though, so I am not getting hooked on EQ like I once was.

FFXI was far too time consuming, I guess that is the biggest reason why I quit, for now.

If you do exit PlayOnline the way it wasn't supposed to, some people get a bug where PlayOnline loads up but doesn't show up, and you fix it by changing the settings to Full Screen then back to Window mode... which happened to me a few times. ::::29::

    PlayOnline such an annoying feature.
