WoW is averaging nearly 50k copies sold a month...3 years after the game was released. They're going to sell over half a million copies just this year in the States.
Let's not confuse the issue. That 9.3 number is active subscriptions in the world. What we are talking about here is game sales (ie new subs) in the US. They really don't have anything in common. All that we were attempting to point out is that the game is still bringing in new subs in the US month in and month out. How the bottom line in the US is impacted we don't know for sure, but no one can claim that all new subs are outside the US. That's simply not true.

Interesting. The game I think is actually more popular in the Scandinavian countries so you can multiply that figure andthat is quite substantial, and there is no doubt Asian growth as well. So new players are buoying up this figure, but at the same time it must have a fair number of quitters.
I mean, over 6 months, growth gone up from 8.5 to 9.3m?
If America has added in the region of 300-500k new players, and you treble or quadruple that to account for Europe and Asia is likely to have expanded then subscriptions should theoretically be much higher. *
Although the benefit of having such a huge base is that when the expansion comes out there will be lots of resubscribing subscriptions which means a rise in this figure of active subscriptions.
*(people buying the game are in their free month so won't count as 'active subscribers- and therefore may also not subscribe when that month is over so figure slightly lower)
