LOL....$49.99 seems to be the reason you're defending TR. I got a month for free times 2 because I had 2 accounts going when Auto Assault was cancelled. I did not have fun playing Tabula Rasa as it plays like a childrens setting for a FPS, the skill tree is approximately 4 steps and crafting as in all NCsoft games is a waste of time. Talk here again in a year, oh wait it won't be here as it will be gone!
As I said this whole arguement has already been done and many of us know how it turns out.
Not taking delight in an MMO dying, noting to an obviously deluded crowd Tabula Rasa IS on the exact same course Auto Assault took. The forums including yours and this one are cookie cutter copies of Auto Assaults forums a year ago. NCsoft keeps trying to make the next big thing and when it falls short of a GOLD MINE (they also expect huge dividends in a couple of months) they pull the plug! You can do what I did and enjoy the rest of the games life but history tells us it's dead.
Right, because NCSoft has pulled the plug on so many other MMOs.
From what I hear, 3 months after launch, Auto Assault had around 10k subscribers, and it was downhill from there.
Seriously, its not Auto Assault. Auto Assault was universally criticized for lousy gameplay and lousy environments. This game has good gameplay and decent environments, it just needs some tweaks.
I'm not basing what I'm saying on "What I hear" I lived it. As I said before this is the same dicussion we had in Auto Assault one year ago. The game was great just needed a few bugs worked out, it never happened. The devs (I'm telling you there are none they are gone!) will tell you exactly what you want to hear even after they cancell the game!

Okay, you had a bad experience with Auto Assault, fine. And you don't like playing Tabula Rasa, fine. But excuse me if I trust Richard Garriot to have at least an IDEA of how to run an MMO. And he's still supporting this one, if nothing else his company is well-funded by Lineage work. So NCSoft isn't going to get rid of them in any case, as Lineage is an important game for them. They didn't get rid of NetDevil either, didn't the game last like a year? Despite, near its end, having server peaks of like 300? I mean the game was a total joke.
I mean... NetDevil? Really?
BTW, sour grapes will give you tooth decay just like the sweet ones.

Thats about a month of playtime and I realized I was not terribly happy. It's just a personal observation I know but hey TR filled the crave for TF2/CS-Source addiction while making a shameless plug for persistent world with levels/abilities/etc
I really liked AA I played 2000+ hours of gameplay in less than a year. Auto Assault had more content than TR including vehicles from the beginning.
You say "But excuse me if I trust Richard Garriot to have at least an IDEA of how to run an MMO. And he's still supporting this one, if nothing else his company is well-funded by Lineage work. "
EEEK.....You are sheep following an obvious attempt to steer you to this game by name dropping. Didn't he fail Ultima Online off the internet the first time it was released? I did like Akalabeth and am pretty sure you don't know what that was.
Question everything! Richards support of this game is based on a paycheck (and future paychecks)!
I also have to wonder why you are posting here instead of playing Tabula Rasa if it's so much fun
I also played AA and felt that TR was very similar in playstyle but was sloppy at it. Anyone that buys something just because someone puts their name on it is a fool.
I agree 100% with the OP, i saw this coming by the 4th day of game play. I said it once and ill say it again, this game was nothing more than a financial fund for Richard who has now become too hollywood to make a decent game!
The Ven-man is back with another question for you MMORPG gamers. Do you feel that TR is on its way to be yet another game to go free to play game or to die later in about 2 years? I want to let you know I have a bone to pick with the DEV’s in the game. I know, I know, the game has potential to be great. I know that DEV’s are doing their very best and working very hard. I’m sorry guys, but if you come in sloppy most of the time you go sloppy. I want to all know that I’m back in the game before you start bashing me. Why I’m back in the game to give these guys another chance and also I really like the fast pace action in the game. I feel that I’m on the way back out of the game. Here are points why I feel that this game is on the way out if they don’t act fast.
Crafting I said it once I say it again, what in the Hell where you Dev’s thinking about when came up with this idea. Its Crap!!!! When are you going to fix it? Can you give us idea where you might change? I would like to do other things other than fighting Armor in the game is cool at first then I notice that some of the armor get recycled. What I mean is that the same armor I’m wearing at level 15 which looks very cool is the same armor again at level 30 to 50. I mean come one Dev’s I’m sure you can do better than that. I would like someone to look at me and be able to tell that I’m high leveled other thank clicking on me. I know that your art team has some ideas for new and cooler armor for the high level toons. PAU’s are they still coming this January? If so please don’t half step it where things are not working right. Make the PAU’s customizable like add better weapons, make it faster or paint it. Please fix Mires that is what a lot of people are saying. Please fix the missions there only but so many. We need more content for the high level toons. PVP LOL what a joke it does not make any sense. Let me get this straight the story is the Bane kicked or butts on earth so we have to regroup to fight back right? So the PVP is where we fight each other? I mean huh? What? Come again. Yeah that real good idea DEV’s lets fight each other. NOT! We need to have the Bane as playable race then PVP would make more sense and that would be even more fun when take over bases. Add more skills to the tree please. Also please make sure they work.
The real reason I have bone to pick is because I saw what the new patch is going to fix and what they are going to add. Not enough, sorry guys. These guys have a lot competition coming out soon, like Warhammer online, World of Warcraft new expansion pack, Aion and many others. I hate to say it they don’t really have a chance since they fumbled the ball when they put out this game unfinished. How do you gamers feel? Thanks for reading this, Twistedvenom
Nope, it won't completely die, but it most probably will fade to the shallower market out there. People will always play what they have invested a large amount of their in playing. TR will not rule the gaming world, nor come near it. However, there shall be enough out there to keep it viable for at least 2 more years.

Hope so, that way they can end it quick and make a game that is good. How sad that the low level content is supposed to be the good stuff, and i couldnt even make it 3 days of trial before i wanted to puke on the keyboard and email a shyte to Richard Garriots inbox. my god!! please people still playing....quit...shut game down...and make something better. And yah i know u will all say what you not even play 3 days and u have this opinion?!?! play more and come back.... etc etc etc....lol how long do you play a game before you get a feel of it? do you really have to play for 3 or 4 months before you hit most the features, all the keey elements, and the little nuances? no, 3 day trial, because they know with the product they have, you dont need more than that do decide if you like it. What you people think they pull trial period lengths outta their a$$
no they know what they have, what they are dealing with. a 3 day trial...many think oh they must think they are to good to feature a decent trial lenght? No, they know the product they have, and 3 days is just short enough to either give you a taste and make u want more, or enough to slap you on the wrist and say move along. I think you will find most got a treatment of the latter....*slap* i learned my lesson...moved on. Happend to me will happen to more and more. Bye Bye Tabula Rasa.

Very pleased to see individuals like this go and move on, wish more where mature enough to understand if they do not like a game to move on, but the other crap you said showed you have not yet played a MMO before, you seem to totaly have no idea about the game, but hey thats okay cause thats what populair to bash things you simply do not understand , so i do understand your post, but like i said i consider it coming from someone who never played a mmo before, else you could not have made this post i reply to.
I quit playing at 45. I am losing patience no matter how optimistic I am.
Crafting is useless. However, I do have a ton of armor dyes. Plus, selling all of my other drops have made my main toon very wealthy, which my alts appreciate greatly. I must say that the ease with which money is had in this game is a pleasant change from other MMO's. I had hoped this fact would keep the gold sellers away, but unfortunately, they make their regular appearances in chat. I hope they do not change the selling prices of items or their drop rates, otherwise obtaining cash could become another frustration in the game. (remembers certain MMO's doing this over time)
I have mettled with the auction house some, but the same gear shows up time and time again and is items that can be easily had from quest rewards or mob drops as you complete quests. So, essentially, if you never visit the AH, you'll be fine.
This is the first MMO I have played that did not have an official forum on release. The impression I get is that the developers do not value open communication with their player base. Unless your future plans are to screw your player base with an unfinished release, lots of bugs, and slow patches, then I can understand the advantage of not having a forum full of players complaining. If you in full faith plan to support your product and it's player base, then there is no reason not to have an official forum and respond to both positive and negative feedback. It's almost holier than thou not to have one.
Fortunately there are other forums such as this that other potential subscribers can get an idea of how players are feeling about the game, can voice their suggestions, and ultimately communicate with the developers of the game. It just sad that it has to be done at another domain name.
I personally loved the game. However, now I see how unfinished the game is at higher levels and it saddens me. I had hoped for more. Bugged missions no longer sit in my quest journal as I've given up on any fix for them. GM's have been nice enough to finish bugged quests for me so I could progress, but should I have to do this with every bugged quest? I got tired of going back and checking quests to see if they've been fixed only to find they are not. No worries I'm now too high a level for it to matter or care if completing that quest opens interesting content.
Anyway, I hope the devs do more with the game. It's fun up to about my level. However, I've lost interest in grinding out 5 more levels to go through the Fault Lever instance. Also, progressing more toons to go through the same stuff again just doesn't appeal to me.
Personal armored units would be cool, but is it going to enhance the present content? PVP? I don't feel like boxing another toon in Friday Night Fights or playing hide and seek against another guild. How about instead of spending time on Friday Night Fights, you open an official forum to get feedback from your player base as to how to improve the game for it's lasting appeal in the long term? I don't know, giving away a wearable beret to one person every week doesn't seem like time well spent, but that's just me. To watch 2 toons jumping around in their underwear trying to be the lucky one to land a jab more times than the other does not constitute real pvp or pvp skill in my book. Nonetheless, it is a DEV sponsored event and I guess there's something to be said for that effort. However, these events do not change my experience with the game, they way the game plays for me, or the present issues in the game.
Anyway, I plan to unsubscribe for a number of months, forget about TR, and see what pans out over time. I'm hoping for the best but personally I've stopped caring whether RG and his crew really care.
Barfman - The superhero people are reluctant to call upon.
It's amazing how little the developers of games care what the "customer" thinks. I've seen polls and posts about many games and the developers and companies behind them just care about the almighty dollar, which is ironic as the suggestions people give will ultimately result in more revenue. Games are rushed to market unfinished and unpolished full of bugs and problems. I wish there was a truth in advertising law strictly enforced to force companies to actually deliver what is written in the descriptions of the game. We are told what we want to hear and the people making decisions just do what they want regardless of what the customers want.
I think they learned from Auto Assault forums don't ask unless you want to know. I mean there were people actually willing (and some did) to work for free to fix problems within the game. I'm not kidding there were devs in name only, they actually had no way or intention of fixing anything. Crafting was bugged from beta and it was never addressed other than to further limit it. By eliminating the game forums you remove a source of proof that they don't care. People used to post links to previous posts which were dated and proved the devs just didn't care. I feel the devs get a bad rap as I'm sure it's a money thing and there may not even be any left at the time of the post.

I was invited to the closed beta some time ago, and throughout there were not many people playing, but the prevailing opinion was the game had a fatal lack of depth and no end game, and PvP was odd, as a high level medic (considering the missions were so easy a medic was only good in PvP) all the duels I had i won easily just by firing my virulent injector gun and healing. That's not pvp. Missions were all incredibly easy, most of the skills were pointless, and the instances were all insanely easy to do. The loot drops were also pointless as even the most basic, crappy gun was more than sufficient as long as it was at your level. Basically, I, like many others were REALLY looking forward to a game that promised to combine mmo and fps, and like many others I was very disapointed when TR gave us neither, but a strange, aimless 6x grind fest with pointless loot and no economy and no real PvP and no real crafting system...etc!!.

I never subscribed after the beta ended, the complete lack of depth and the insanely high monthly fee (for the game you got) combined with an ingame community that seemed to consist mostly of the beta fanboy type (think eve online fanboy only even more confusing) turned me away. I also knew then, as after reading up on the game a few months later, I do now, that TR is very close to ''MMO death''.

It could have been so awesome, perhaps the next TR like game will not make the same crippling mistakes.

Agree completely, a 3 day trial is plenty to get a feel for Tabula Rasa, what you do in those three days is what you do the entire game.
If you aren't having fun in the first three days there is something fundamentally wrong.
I really wish RG had listened, a lot of wasted potential and money, it's pretty sad.
the only thing i see in tr thats bad are the lack of adequately trained GM's. there are alot of story driven missions broken or broken by the players ability to finish missions in different ways or simply activate a trigger when you shouldnt, killing the mission and requiring GM intervention (alot of these), this causes lots of problems. some i saw addressed in beta, many more i did not. without enough customer service to help out on these borked missions it has been hell at times in game. as for new folks, as i stated before i see alot starter mission questions and new names in general.
as for the OP i read some of their previous posts on other games, this person borders on the t word and from what i have seen is trying really hard to get folks to ackowledge him and his posts. none ask for concious discussion on any particular topic but they do start with the same grand theme, themselves.
like many, i like the game, even with its faults, fully aware possibly better games are on the way. i will give it a few more months since it is only a couple old. TR! get that customer service rolling!!
can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.

Frankly? I don't want you in any game I play anyway. Don't let the door bruise your ass on the way out.

What is really amazing is that we have individuals that really think developers do not listen, i mean we see this at every single MMORPG game, when do you people who pretend such things finaly wake up and set foot in reality?
Do you hear me say DEVS listen to ALL of us, nope...but they do listen, just look at changes that are done to certain games including this one, as some things where never meant but since therir are many complaints changes are coming, well....these changes come due to DEVS listening, but hey lets keep pretending it's not devs that listen...shall we
I must say that you either very new to games or simply you seem to totaly have no clue about them.
OP had one thing right in the title, the posters here have no inside knowledge or special information on which they are basing their posts no matter how much they like to pretend they do. It's just if they "feel" the game is on the way out.
We can safely ignore any remarks about subscriber numbers and server loads as being pure imagination. Unless you are an NCsoft employee with access to the data don't even bother.
Comments like "the game is dead already" from non-players of TR are simply wishful thinking from posters who obviously have another agenda other than an giving it an even chance.
Mostly that agenda seems to be a kind of "tall poppy syndrome" effect with regard to Richard Garriott, i.e. he's gone too Hollywood, forgotten his roots and needs to be taken down a notch or two. Yes I played Akalabeth and some but not all of the other Ultimas, I didn't even know who RG was until many years later and certainly didn't play TR because of his name on the box.
I think it may be a little bit of envy that's causing all the bile here, I mean who wouldn't want to be a successful game designer with enough money to basically be as eccentric as they want? Don't know if I'd build a castle but probably something equally as crazy. I would definitley be up for the space trip.
It's pretty obvious people are projecting their RG issues onto TR and I bet the most poisonous posters here on the subject were once his biggest fanbois. I don't really care how he broke your heart but it certainly shows.
Other posters genuinely just don't like TR which is fair enough, some even give reasons but it all seems to boil down to the gameplay or theme not appealing to them or it not being what they think they were "promised" early in the dev cycle. Guess what everybody is not like you, the fact that you do not like it does not automatically mean it won't appeal to anyone - that's just pure arrogance.
A few posters in this thread have had valid criticisms of the game, but it's mostly been poor attempts to compare it to Auto Assault. It's ok though because the most vitriolic don't appear to be able to construct valid arguments so are unlikely to be taken seriously in any case.

Wow... we finally have a logical argument on this thread. I agree with this post 100%. However, I'd like to add that these TR bashing posts need to stop. 95% of you are fetching at straws with your complaints against the game. Especially the ones who are comparing it to Auto Assault's failure. Also, the ones who are complaining about it having RG's name on it need to get a grip on reality as well.
A vast majority of the TR-bashing arguments are based purely on hate. Hate for either that RG's name is on the box and he didn't deliver another game with UO sandbox mode, or that posters played the game for only a couple of hours and "knew" they hated the game (so they bash it), or posters have hate for NCSoft. The last reminds me of the hate-based threads that are brought forward by the SWG Veterans forum.... hate against SOE. And, just like a lot of those vets, some of the TR-bashers can't let go of their hate for one of the three reason I listed above. Therefore, it's the continuous barrage of TR-hate posts over and over and over again... most of them unconstructive, hate-filled rants. I have one suggestion for all those people... Move on.
I have a list of games that I have tried that I thought were crap. However, I am not on those threads posting complaint threads over and over again like a lot of the TR-bashers are now. That's because I released my hate and moved on from those games. I suggest the TR-bashers do the same as well with their TR-hate.

Frist you need to look at all the post before you group us all in Hate group. I don't want TR to fail but they need some major changes. In fact if you read my post you would see that I'm play the game right now and that I love the face pace action in the game. So that means I'm giving TR my money, that also means that I'm giving them a chance. So next time read most of the post and stop picking the one you want to read before you bash alot of people buddy.
OP had one thing right in the title, the posters here have no inside knowledge or special information on which they are basing their posts no matter how much they like to pretend they do. It's just if they "feel" the game is on the way out. We can safely ignore any remarks about subscriber numbers and server loads as being pure imagination. Unless you are an NCsoft employee with access to the data don't even bother.http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/1801395/postAction/reply/quote/true Comments like "the game is dead already" from non-players of TR are simply wishful thinking from posters who obviously have another agenda other than an giving it an even chance.

No, I am not a current subscriber to TR. However, that's not because of what I think of its quality. Its genre wasn't what I was looking for at the time (burnt out on MMORPGS). I actually found the game enjoyable for what it was. And, when I come out of my burnt outness of MMORPGS, then I will probably resubscribe to TR.
I do not think not being a current subscriber disqualifies me from giving my opinion of the game, and refuting the unjust TR-hate that flows through this forum, as I do keep up with gaming trends usually. I find that majority of the TR-hate posters that bash this game have unfounded complaints. Some do have just complaints that I agree with. I never stated that this game was "perfect" in any of my posts. I understand that this game has flaws. Regardless of the flaws, I still found TR to be enjoyable. But, after playing MMORPG's for about 1.5 years straight through (longest stint was EQ2 for 4 months), I'm officially burnt out on MMORPG's for now. Which is why I'm not a current subscriber to TR.
If you don't want to read negative remarks refarding TR maybe you shouldn't be reading a thread entitled Do you feel that TR is on it's way out?
Seems there are a bunch of unspanked only children trying their hand at de fusing a volitile situation here. You can't change an opionion by spamming It's great over and over again. My comments are drawn from experience I've gained from playing games, where as you freely admit to not playing anything at this time (making you an expert couch potato.).
NCsofts track record regarding MMO's is and I believe will remain abysmal.
I can save you tools some time in the future, copy all your posts into a file on your computer and replace all references of Tabula Rasa with Aion as these same posts will enevitalby wind up there too. These games are all pushed out with bugs and problems chasing the almighty dollar, they do not care or even try to make a decent game they do just enough to wet your appetite get a few months subscription from many people and then repete the process.
Tabula Rasa is a thrown together copy of a half dozen other games already published with minor changes, this time they even shortened up the skill tree (saves paying programmers). They write up an exciting gameplay story (every NCsoft title falls short of what I've read in their description), they try to make it appeal to as many people as possible, and push like hell to make it and get it released asap. Now there's nothing wrong with trying to make a buck, I'm just not falling for it anymore.
The bottom line is this... I want PC game developers and publishers (man up and take your share of the blame) to stop churning out garbage and make a great game one time that lasts instead of a bunch of games they started to create and quit a quarter of the way through. imagine a game with 4 times the work, 4 times the budget, and 4 times the manpower all working 4 times as long on one game. It would be a long time in the making but could easily surpass WOW's numbers. I also want magazines and websites to stop kissing advertisers butts and write objectivly (yes that one's a pipe dream).
All you unspanked only child complainers about the complainers should start a complain thread or I'm going to give you a time out! I bet they post again as threatening a time out doesn't work prove me right POST!

R.I.P. Tabula Rasa.
The game is fun for me - thats all that matters until lvl 50 ...for now
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !
I wholeheartedly agree
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !

I took a break from MMO's for about 4 months and here is what I noticed:
Game Price Time to completion
TimeShift $49.99 2days
Crysis(shudder) $59.99 8hrs
Two Worlds $49.99 3weeks+ lost interest in WTF am I going across the map AGAIN for ?)
GoW $49.99 12hrs
====================================================================================
Thats about a month of playtime and I realized I was not terribly happy. It's just a personal observation I know but hey TR filled the crave for TF2/CS-Source addiction while making a shameless plug for persistent world with levels/abilities/etc
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !

So next time read most of the post and stop picking the one you want to read before you bash alot of people buddy.I have a list of games that I have tried that I thought were crap. First, let me properly define Bash.
Bash: "Informal To criticize (another) harshly, accusatorially, and threateningly." - dictionary.com - American Heritage Dictionary - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bash
Next, let's take a look at your post history, shall we.
That was just only examples from your most recent posts... I did not even delve further into your past posts. But, it is evident to me that you are providing a lot of griping and bashing on TR and RG.
Regardless, you are not the worst of the offenders. At least you state that you wanted to enjoy this game on some of the posts. However, you are still bashing and still fall under my original post.
Oh, and no where in my previous post did I "criticize harshly, accusatorially, or threatingly" to others. I merely stated a fact that TR-bashers are using their hate to fuel their bashing opinions of TR. And that they need to let go of their hate. No bashing of others what-so-ever. Therefore, please do you homework before you attempt to refute my claims.

See thats what I like!! thanks for post buddy. Nice to see someone come back at me. You have the right to feel what you feel and I have the right to feel what I feel. So lets agree to disagree. Still feel that do have facts on the game since i'm still playing. Are you playing the game?

Which is why I'm not a current subscriber to TR.
edit... proper punctuation.
LOL.
