When I played SWG, I was astonished with the immersion. It must have seen like an extraordinary game at its initial release.
Today, I am impressed with it
Player Owned Cities (vote for or against Mayor who is a player; civic-structures; housing; player-run bars, etc.) World Feel: Visuals and Audio The class customization pre NGE and CU The Content in general if fun Space travel, etc.
It is a game worth trying, in my view. I have a station pass and SWG but removed SWG from my PC because I needed space, but since I go ta second 74g Raptor 10k rpm I will install it soon enough.
You have no idea how good this game was when it released. After the NGU, It turned to complete crap and i recomend no one play it unless they want to see a very buggy combat system and set up of classes.
Uh, yeah. Keep on trucking there, chief. In the meantime, I will continue to do my own thing unimpeded by classes, and levels, in the only real sandbox game left, Eve. Edit: this was directed at the OP, not Bane, for the sake of clarity.
((Don't get me wrong, I love EVE))
Not impeded by levels ((in this case its in the form of a skill)) in EVE? Really? So I can just go hop in a Titan with a char I created yesterday? Or a week ago? Or a month ago?
EVE DEFINETLY still has linear elements, though they are much less resctrive than most games I have played.

Why did you necro a thread that was last posted on in February?

To start another battle I guess. Maybe all these forums should just be locked. It would have happened long ago, but I'm sure MMORPG.com figured out it's better to keep these posters contained.
the OP is joking right? There really cant be a person who is this impressed with so little.
Every once in a while the OP pops in with a "RA-RA" go SOE post. They usually make outlandish claims, paint SOE in a completely favourable light, and ignore past and present issues with SWG and SOE's way of doing business.
Also, unless a number of people share the account, the OP is capable of deeply analytical thinking--not the stereotypical fan he comes across as in posts like this one.
To the O.P., people are aware that most of the sandbox game mechanics were overwritten intentionally to appeal to a linear minded audience. I'm sure that you're aware of this as well, frankly.
People are also aware that other games like EVE contain sandbox game mechanics similar to the original SWG. In other words, a lot of people that read these boards really aren't stupid sheep, waiting to be herded into SWG for shearing.
so many posts because someone loves SWG. Yet some love WOW,EVE,EQ2,AoC,WAR.. so? I really loved SWG before all the stupid changes when I was a creature handler and then logged in one day and it was gone Then it was like made for kids. Being or meaning very easy

That would be the definition of a viral marketer.
My apologies, I was reading through this and replied to that quote, I didn't notice the year "07"
Why am I always a year late to the good stuff?
Serves me right for not reading through to the end, where I would have seen the Febuarary date.
Good thing mmorpg.com has a special emoticon just for me. Namely this one:
Sorry guys, this one was my bad.
