The classes I can understand to a point, but Realm vs. Realm between two cities.. I've always been of the opinion that if you set out to produce a specified amount of content, then it is a matter planning and project management to either get it done on time or push the launch date out. Cutting content to meat a predetermined time table, is just weak project management. They just cut content out of projects to stay on schedule, but I would probably be fired if i told my boss.. That's how MMO's are different. You can temporarily delay something, phase it in after launch, and not dramatically affect anything. It hasn't been cut...it's being delayed and phased in later.

Well you can see that they did not set out to create this much content in the first place.
They said there was going to be cities but they never talked about how in depth they were going to make them until recently, a lot of what Warhammer is trying to do is new ground here I doubt a bunch of people all sat down the first day and came up with every single new idea they wanted to make.
New ideas will come up and stuff will have to change, mythic clearly wants to try to make cities in this game something more than they have been in the past MMOs and it will take more development time.
If mythic had just said they were going to do the same thing as everyone else but then started to cut content I would be worried, but they are not they are walking into new territory here and sometimes it’s not what they expected and they have to change things.

In DaOC, a group of 12 who were coordinated could take out 50 who were acting without a team effort.
I couldn't agree more Oblivionate, people who haven't played DAoC and experienced the wonder that is RvR will never understand this untill they get to play WAR. I remember the days a well coordinated group of hibs/mids turning up at the alb gate in emain would butcher about three or four groups of albs
I have to agree with the daoc thing, I have talked to and read posts from tons of people who have not played daoc and simply cannot really grasp just what RvR is really like.
I think they changed the definition of RvR some time ago. Whenever they mention it in press releases now they are usually referring to battlegroun...err I mean scenarios lol. They have what 12 according to thier website with more of them on the way not including the scenarios in the cityseige... With all that in the way how do you expect there to be massive open world pvp? We all saw what just a couple battlegrounds did to wow pvp. That should be a huge neon warning sign right there.
Also I have to mention the fact that, according to thier website thier keep siege is completly on rails. PADS? not just on the keep but pads around the keep too? So much for using a crafting skill to build the engines and move them around like in DAOC. It seem most likely they will be using a token system like in daoc's battleground to SPAWN the siege engine when someone uses the token at the pad. LMAO
Where are the underwater worlds in WAR (scrapped two years agi) Where are the flying units (Warhammer has about 20% flying units in its lore) (scrapped two years ago). Where is the mounted combat ? Scrapped one year ago. Where are the mounted dwarf tanks? Scrapped? Not even a dwarf city anymore.... Whare are the Ogre Kingdoms? Where are the Teutogen Guards? Where are the Tomb Kings and all those other classes from our rich Warhammer worlds ? Nothing : NO where to be found. WARHAMMER is just a cheap excuse to DAoCAmelot part 2 with copies all over from Wow techniques. And now the final question: with even the final City Sieges being controlled in instances where is that famous old RvR ssytem Mythic had. Says enough isn't it. ---- I guess Team Fortress 3 will have MORE features than Warhammer .... LOL
You name 4 things that where scrapped years ago (which every mmo does) and fail to admit to the TONS of content that are currently still slated for release. Yes its possible they will cut more but that would be speculation. Sorry but = fail.

Careful...
But to just respond to this, was the pod cast before or after the announcement of the content cuts.
It's not that they don't have enough content that has me worried, but the fact that they planned and designed the game for years around this content. They had endless meetings and decided it would be the best design and now they are cutting it because of a deadline. I don't think it's the end of the World, or this game will be bad because of it, but it does scare me. Changing major design elements this close to launch can have major side effects.
Theres no side effects when it benefits the game as a whole. Why do people insist on posting crap they have no idea about. It was a decision to BETTER the game no to have side effects. Would you rather they released it without telling us, won t mention the company that just did this as we all know. I mean they told us , it s better for the game atm and it will be phased in. Why are people so blind to this.
No I would rather them finish the game the way it was designed. What is it with you guys being so rude? You don't know the side effects and neither do I which is why I said it CAN have major side effects. They will always tell you that whatever they do is good for some reason. The fact of the matter is that they are cutting content to meet a deadline.
I even said I don't think it's the end of the World and that the game won't be bad because of it. All I am saying is that it scares me. Do you think being a jerk will make me feel better about it?
I am a fan of phasing the stuff in if they can and have the time and don't release it as an expansion. I have always said I am a fan of delivering less more polished content than more unpolished content. I have also said that if I was in there shoes and I had to deliver the game by the decided date then I would take the same approach they are taking. That still doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have it pushed back, and yes it still does scare me.
It amazes me that people can take bad news and spin it around to be great news and then shove their opinions down my throat when I express my concern in a legitimate manner.
Because you're simply assuming that meeting a deadline is the only reason they're doing it. Everything else is an excuse, the reasons they give are just lame excuses, blah blah blah. Yeah there's a good chance you're right, but imagine if Guild Beta has some kind of problem and they delay again - with the new city system in place and with 4 classes still cut from launch. If they delayed they might be able to get some classes in, but they said they couldn't have all 6 cities done and magnificent even with another delay. However, if they did delay again but kept things the way they are now, where's your argument? Would you say A) they were really telling me the truth, maybe they just wanted to focus on two cities for better RvR and to make those cities truly awesome or haha there they go again, crappy time management!

Carefull of what? Was not a direct comment to you on the fool comment. If your saying carefull before I make myself look like a fool.....wouldnt be the first time.
As to the podcasts, before they put the classes/cities on hold, not cut. I fail to see how cutting 4 classes and 4 cities in any way effect the siege's of keeps ect which is what you where talking about. I dont seem to remember them delaying anything in crafting (which was before the cuts and the podcast mentions nothing of crafting being apart of sieges). Also the Siege podcast was before the cuts. It talks about how the siege weapons will work. Also has nothing to do with the city/class delays.
So again, I fail to see how the delays have anything to do with the way siege weapons will work?
A game being good, bad, or ugly isn't determined by there being a few less classes or cities. It is something much deeper in the design. These things missing won't determine the game's success or failure.
It's like if AoC was coming out and they cut a class and everyone said the game would fail because of it. Not the case.
Heh and i hope there is never alot of content between me and another faction. This way i dont have to fly for 10 mins, Ride for 10 mins and walk around for 20 mins just to find you....
See you are all missing the point. Its not what they cut, its the fact they cut the content. So its okay to cut content and release the game then to finish the content and then release the game. hmmm and we wonder why game companies release unfinished games.
why do people keep using the word cut?
it's not like they put on hold ENTIRE features. We still have city seiges. They just have less of a certain feature, which in the end brings larger scale battles. The kind of battles that people will talk about years from now to the newbies.
Because everyone with moderate intelligence knows saying they have less of a certain feature not only is pointless, it means the exact same thing as cut. Same reason we all know collateral damage means killed an innocent and friendly fire means somebody fucked up. PLaying the words doesnt change what it is.
I like reading the WAR forums, i get excited about the reaction war will get come sept 18.
Some people say they understand the city cuts, others the classes, but it all comes downt o one thing, hitting the launch date was more important then finishing the game. It means 4 classes and 4 cities will be added in post launch, that will be unbalanaced and players will have to spend another 4 months bitching and complaining until a wave of nerfs roll in, certain classes will be underpowered, or overpowered and certain cities will be broken, or have too many or too little npc, bugs, pathing issues, collision issues.
And if you dont realize this is what will happen you are in denial. Adding in new classes after a game has been established is always terrible.

RvR is no good, a shame about that content lost as well as some race i do not agree is the like of emo on flying saucer. I would join a full PVE server even thought PvP is my hobby. RvR just don't cut it for me on a linear basis.
What do you base that on? Posting reasons for those views would give you a bit more credibility.

See, that's what I don't understand (might just be me).
What kind of PvP do you expect? total gankfests like on WoW and AOC PvP servers?
RvR is PvP, only on a larger scale.
At least, that's how I see it.

" So its okay to cut content and release the game then to finish the content and then release the game. hmmm and we wonder why game companies release unfinished games."
Feel free to wait several months before you start playing. It isn't like Mythic is going to come jam this game down your throat. So things were cut and put on hold. Mythic was honest about it well in advance of their release timetable. I have no problem with that and actually see it as a good thing. More companies should follow suit.
"I am a fan of phasing the stuff in if they can and have the time and don't release it as an expansion. "
There was a link to some posts where it was said that they do not plan on releasing the cities as expansion and will put them in the game when they are as detailed and lifelike as Altdorf and Inevitable. Now I just wish I could find it.... Anyway, it is in this WAR forum someplace.
I agree with this. How can you complain you want the exact game that they designed? Designs change, things evolve. More and more people have been playing the game and they felt it was good decision not to have that stuff. I'd rather have more people grouped together personally, 4 cities spreads your players out pretty thin right off the bat. I'd rather have the game flow well now, and add extra stuff later that I get to look forward to.

Do you understand the difference between RvR and PvP?. RvR is consent only by the player and PvP is a free for all players verus players.
WoW do not have PvP but a Team PvP. as AoC is the same.
Zek in EQ do have a PvP server, as for your gankfest do not mean that everyone like to ganks. For instance I do not gank unless that person is a PK (Player killer).
I have to wonder if War will actually make it. The hype (in my opinion) has reached an all time high. I think at this point, the game HAS to fail to some degree, lol. We all know things never live up to the hype, yet everyone is buying into this games. More on topic with the OP, what would you all be saying if this was blizzard talking about cutting things out of WotLK? Hmmmm....

It seem most likely they will be using a token system like in daoc's battleground to SPAWN the siege engine when someone uses the token at the pad. LMAO
You need to reread the definition of RvR or look at the other post...you know which one it is.
as to the siege ect maybe go watch/listne to the podcasts again. Yes, it is useing the pad system. Crafting skill to build them? Guess you didnt watch the crafting podcast.
Will people please at least have a half assed idea to what they are talking about before they make a fool of themself?
Careful...
But to just respond to this, was the pod cast before or after the announcement of the content cuts.
Due to the new wounderful threads about the game I desided to do a little necromancy with my old one instead of make a new one.

Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
This way i dont have to fly for 10 mins, Ride for 10 mins and walk around for 20 mins just to find you....
why do people keep using the word cut?
it's not like they put on hold ENTIRE features.

Looks like they're following the Scrum (Agile development) method.

See, that's what I don't understand (might just be me).
What kind of PvP do you expect? total gankfests like on WoW and AOC PvP servers?
RvR is PvP, only on a larger scale.
At least, that's how I see it.

Basil Fawlty: [to telephone operator] I've been trying to get through to the speaking clock... Well, it's engaged... Well, it's been engaged for ten minutes. How is this possible? My wife isn't talking to it.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Hmmmm....
