I see them releasing free content all the time. Zul Gurub? AQ20/40? the new dungeon in Ghostlands? Magister's terrace and Sunwell? None of the 4 battlegrounds existed at release. Arenas didnt exist at release. All we had in the beginning was Scholo Strat and MC. BC brought a huge amount of content, at least 15 new instances Simple fact is they can't make content faster that we can rip thru it, Blizz is doing a fantastic job.
You call 4 BGs and arena's as endgame PvP after 4 years a fantastic job?
While i enjoyed the Dustwallow Marsh revamp and other low level goodies blizzard put into the game it was too little too late for me. by that time i already had 5 70's (yes i played alot). the sunwell patch gave us a tiny island with terribly placed mobs (too close together) and an introduction of Even more bland daily quests. Blizzard has always given the hardcore raider love and sunwell was nothing we havent seen before. Yes i have experienced the content, ur beloved sunwell patch was too little too late by that time i already hated blizzard and despised logging on for raids and Arena. Maybe ive played WoW too long and it was just my time. but i felt blizzard could of added more to the game back then and even now.
Ok you had 5 70's. You did play alot. Game companies can't create quality content fast enough to keep someone who plays as much as you happy. WoW is geared to the casual player with some content for the more hardcore.
I'm betting some months you played 100 hrs plus a month. You payed $15 to play the 100 hrs. Thats 15c an hour. I'm saying you got your money worth. If you didn't why did you level 5 characters to 70? I quit when I get bored of a game. And when a game keeps me entertained as long as WoW did you I would have felt that the game gave me my moneys worth.
I play over 200 hours a month, have played for years, have many level 70s (lets not even go there) and I have yet to run out of content.
So true. There are many desirable features in WoW and it is still one of the most comprehensive mmorpgs out there. Probably still the most comprehensive swords and sorcery mmorpg.
Bronks- Guess what man....you can only be a virgin ONCE...no game will ever impact you as much as EQ did. And it sounds like EQ was a pain in the ass to play. I for one do NOT feel like sitting through with the frustration that you and those other 150k dealt with. I will never understand the hate/rants/bitchin that 90% of the posters on this site complain about.
1. You played as much as you want and are now tired of it: QUIT. 2. You are not paying for anyone else's account here to play: GET OVER IT. 3. You will not convince anyone of any type of greedy corporation plot: THEY ALL ARE ANYWAY. 4. You will always seem jaded, unforgiving and condescending to anyone here if they like a game: QUIT WHINING
Good for you for liking EQ, finishing SWP, getting 5 level 70s all with full T6 sets and full exalted with every faction. I'm unhappy that the OP is not content satisfied. But it takes more than 1 game to sustain a company. Blizzard has mutiple IPs that all require work, teams, development, research and good ol cash. So please save your tears for someone who cares. I am 35 years old, father of 2 girls, husband and full time worker that has played UO, SWG, AQ, DAoC, EVE and many free, beta and P2P MMOs and as of now, WoW is fine the way it is. My smallest girl just got her mount at level 32 (new patch), my wife is a AH nutcase and I'm currently grinding HPs between raiding BT with a Viet guild (so we have our language barrier to overcome). No one will think you differently for not liking WoW, Blizzard or any other game/company for that matter....so why the never ending high and mighty attitude about how 'easy' WoW is? No matter how well you try to mask your opinion for WoW and it's players......people will see right through it.
Ramonski7, I don't understand the point of your comments.
Would you like it better if I came here and posted "I love WoW" because I agreed with your opinion of the game? You and 10 million other players have the WoW forums at the warcraft website and in these forums. Go fanboi somewhere else if I can't post an opinion here.
WoW is too easy for me. It's my opinion. You don't agree. You love your WoW. It's your opinion and I can respect that. I will not call you down because of it.
1. I have quit.
2. I am paying for my wife's and my son's accounts.
3. I'm not out to convince anyone of anything.
4. Boy, you have no idea what jaded is... Go read a SWG board if you need a definition of jaded.
I don't need to mask anything, my friend. WoW gamers are like any other gamer except they like a game I don't play because I find it too easy. That's all.
I like how you throw out bullshit. I"m willing to bet that even though you played those games, YOU NEVER MADE IT TO THE END GAME. In fact, I'm sure you never stepped foot into PoT. EQ > WoW. Simple as that. Not just the end game, but everything. WoW has its place, but it's not for the hardcore MMO player. It's for grandma and Junior.
Hah, coming from a person who says SWP will be five or two-manned and claiming he has completed the instance, I find this ridiculous.
As for Everquest, I took part in raiding since the very beginning. Nothing in Everquest comes close to the coordination needed to defeat Mu'ru or Kil'Jaeden in SWP. The fact that there was a 72-player cap for raids also made many of the 'raiding accomplishments' more like a foaming-at-the mouth zerg than an organized raid. One thing I miss about Everquest raiding are the corpse runs. WoW made this too easy, but then again nearly every raid encounter in WoW is instanced with timed repops, so I guess a similar dynamic to EQ would not make sense.
Anyone can type what they want here in relative anonymity, but truly, get your facts straight, the reason why SWP and all the other raid instances in WoW were cleared so quickly is that there were as many people playing that raid content as there were people playing EQ back in the day.
Tell me fight in Everquest that compares to complexity and difficulty when weighed against Kil'Jaeden or Mu'ru or even an early TBC encounter like Kael'Thas. This is a matter of opinion again, but I do not think there are any. So much of EQ raiding was pure brute forcing that I find your arguments a bit odd.
I agree, most EQ 'trash' raids were easily completed through brute force in pickup raids. That being said, I still think an EQ raid had more thrill to it than a WoW raid ever will.
If you've raided in EQ, you can surely remember raiding in the Temple of Veeshan and having a boss down to 5% health when all of a sudden a debuff wave hit everyone dropping resists, hp, mana down to almost nothing. Maybe you were never a buffer, but I can tell you trying to rebuff a raid after your buffs got dispelled was nerve-wracking. Have you ever tried sticking a slow on an EQ raid boss? Sometimes you'g cast 4-5 complete mana pools at the boss just to stick a slow at 15% health which would turn the time in favor of your raid. No matter how many players you had with you, a zone like the Temple of Veeshan would never allow for brute force raid tactics.
What was the last expansion you played up to in EQ? I can guarantee you've never done PoT when it was released (or within 3 expansions thereafter). PoT is a somewhat easy run now, only because there have been 8 expansions since it's release.
I think you are saying EQ raiding was brute force because that is all you experienced... I doubt you were in a decent raiding guild or else you would not say this.
You talk coordination however all I remember from EQ raids is coordination. If one cleric on the healing roster missed a heal on the MT, the raid was over. Every single class had to understand and support each other class. An off-tank knew to crack up the taunts when a slow got resisted or when the MT took a big heal... everyone in EQ had to be aware of everyone else around them. I honestly have never cared about anyone in my raids in WoW because the fights are:
A. over quick, or
B. not very demanding to recover from, or
C. no one in the raid cares about me.
Again, this is all my opinion. No matter how hard you WoW players try to convince me that WoW is a harder raid experience I will disagree.
1. I don't like Blizzard because all their "ideas" are stolen from other companies/products. Yeah, you like Warcraft or Starcraft so much, why not grow up and try playing the real game Warhammer or Warhammer 40K. Games Workshop has filed law suits against Blizzard because of it's blatant theft of lore and ideas. Of course Blizzard has enough money to smack it all away thanks to you idiots.
2. Initially their games seemed fairly good, so they made a name for themselves amongst the ignorant who didn't know their ideas were stolen from other(s). But I can enjoy them for what they were... I enjoyed Warcraft 1 and the first Diablo (updated Ultima VIII: Pagan basically) and StarCraft. Then it's all pretty much gone down hill from there.
3. Speaking about WoW specifically all I can say is that it's far to easy. The leveling is fast, so you end up skipping to much content, which I suppose is ok since the world is so small. The only expansion pack they've released made all the old world content completely useless (I know this happens to an extent in MMORPG's but what TBC did to old world Azeroth in WoW was ridiculous to an extreme level). You know it's really bad when your level 61 greens (basic uncommon items) completely destroy your level 60 Purples (Epic raid loot) you took so long to get... No other game in MMO history has done that in one step. Simply because of that I expect no difference when the new expansion is released, WotLK. All your (and my) epic loot we have gathered will be completely useless come the first few days in the new expansion.
There are not enough classes in the game as well. "Oh but I get spec tree's so their different!!!" No, no they aren't. They're tweaked versions of the same class. That's called a lazy mans gimmick. Along with being able tweak your character one way or another, they've made the game so gear dependant that you can actually change the role of your character in a group. While this seems ok in theory, it actually damages the game more than it helps it. This concept actually ends up negating people as a whole causing horrible in-game cliques (probably why only 1% of the subscriber base has even seen a 20 or 40-man instance), while again, making the end game (5 or 10 man instances) retardedly easy. EQ2 and Vanguard are perfect examples of how to do classes in an MMORPG correctly. Extreme gear dependance does not a good MMO make.
Yes I've played WoW up to level 70, so yes I'm not being ignorant and stating facts about a game I know nothing about. I am well versed in this game and can see it for what it is. It's an MMO for people who have never played an MMO and Blizzard marketed it very well to them. I, and many other actual gamers understand this, and simply try and avoid it.
I could probably go on, but its 2:50am here and I'm tired. All that being said I can't wait for Warhammer online. Mythic owns (DAoC rocked my face).
I just have to throw my 2 cents in here... 1. I don't like Blizzard because all their "ideas" are stolen from other companies/products. You sound like a player who began playing WoW towards the end of WoW vanilla. You should know that the best epics (Tier 3) were not really replaced until Tier 4, the entry level BC raiding epics. The purpose of "other" epics in Vanilla and now BC is to step up towards the higher quality epics. Not to mention that there are over 50 item levels of difference between the weakest epics and the best epics in BC. Consider this: Tier 6 quality players in the WOTLK Beta haven't replaced any gear even at level 77 in the beta. The item design has been stated to be more in-line with progression and so far beta proves this. So I think that your complaint of the future expansion is a bit null there and your complaint of the past expansion probably rests on the fact that you didn't get past Tier 2 content in vanilla.
But as we know that wow is a polished MMORPG as u have said before. So how the polished mmorpg come up to us?? They need to make everything excellent. and they need to test for a long time even for a small changes. There're two camp with 10 races and 9 classes (10 soon. ) A small bug will completly change all the Azeroth land... So that's why they update in such a slow way. And as we know Blz often delay their games, Such as Diablo, SC, WAR, and staff. That's what they always have done. But we still like their game. Why? Coz compare with get 10 f**king shit game per month, we preferr waiting for 5 years and get 1 excellent game to play, Do u remember Hellgate london?? Most disappointment GAME IN 2007.. I dont wanna Blz be the next one...
I feel obligated to point out that the makers of Hellgate: London were effectively "let go" from the Blizzard team because their work on Diablo 3 back in (2002? 2003?) was disatisfactory. Basically blizzard said, "This sucks, make it again" and the hellgate london staff (then known as Blizzard North) said "wahhhh wahh no" and proceeded to run away QQing to form flagship studios. They then released one of the biggest flops in gaming history, Hellgate London.
I'm sorry, but this sounds like whining for the sake of being angsty. You want to be cool, so you hate on big corporate. That's fine, be cool.
As a note, i don't play WoW anymore. It's not because I don't want to, it's because my gf made a deal that if I quit wow she would quit cigerettes...so yeah.
If I could however, I would. It's a good game. It's a FUN game. You say that blizzard has not released content? Go through the patch notes, there are plenty of dungeons they have added. Everything from dire maul to molten core wasn't there when people started the game. And comparing it to eve? Come on it's a good game, but at the end of the day it's a shit load of dead space with a planet here and there, how hard is it to come up with a new area? Ok so they added new cargo add ons or a weapon here or there, WoW has had new weapons released.
As for TBC eliminating any need for past azeroth content, says who? I'm sorry, but I had no problem doing every quest possible in the game. Nothing in TBC told me I was not allowed to. They didn't delete all the past quests. You're just whining because new players don't HAVE to do the past quests, big friggin deal. Don't need to go all long beard and wah because for some reason you think you had it tougher in the snow going up hill with a cow tied to your back.
Of course gear in the expansion is going to replace the uber epic gear you used to have. Think of it from their perspective. You have a crap load of people that have been playing this game for two to three years and has gear that you have released as CONTENT (reading that paragraph 1?). Now you need to make the expansion pack challanging for these people so it A. doesn't get completed in a day and B. is fun for them. Now to add on to your troubles, you have new people and people who didn't quite get all that epic gear from before. Well if you amp up the difficulty level on the new stuff to make it difficult for the epic guys, well then the lowbies will get slaughtered. So what do you do? You make it a level playing field. You give everyone the same gear at the new place.
Classes?! Do you really want to talk about classes?! There are only three classes in an mmo. There is the tank, the healer, and the damage dealer. You don't need 20 different damage dealers, 3 different tanks, and 8 different healers for a game to be fun. That is why I don't hate on SWG. I don't play it because I don't like it after the update, but who cares if they shrunk pistoleer, riflemen, and carbineer into one class called "shoots guns". Once again you are whining for the sake of whining.
"The raids arn't as good as game A because back in my day we..." Enough already! Your rose tinted glasses are going to get all scratched up if you wear em all day. Everquest dungeons were fun not because of the dungeon itself, but because of the PEOPLE you were with. You enjoyed your time together. From a physical stand point there is no difference between boss A in wow and boss X in everquest. They are still doing the same thing. For every boss there was in everquest that stole your buffs there is one that does it in WoW. There are only so many gimmics a boss can pull out of his ass before you start repeating yourself. It's like saying little league was better than major league because the balls were whiter or the team was harder. It wasn't harder! You were just all newbies!
Yeh my friends quit after the TBC saying it ruined the game and I agree with them but I think the lack of focus on the old world and battlegrounds ruined it for me.
---------------------------------------- Talking about SWG much?
Agree with the OP 100% . Blizzard lets that cash-cow of a game just stagnate- year after year.
Blizzard doesn't treat their customers very well at all. At least the PvE fans IMO.
And, then there's Turbine- the other company whose games I have played. And they are the complete opposite of Blizzard. They pumped out new content every freaking month during the 4 years I played AC. And how many people were subscribed to AC during it's prime years? Maybe 100k. So Turbine APPRECIATED and VALUED those 100k ppl to give them free new content EVERY month for the last 9+ years.
Blizzard has 12 million and gives them squat- in my opinion. Just a credit card bill faithfully. And a few PvP things thrown in a couple times a year in a patch.
Justice was Lord of the Rings taking so many Game of the Year awards last year when it was up against Burning Crusade.
Justice is Time Warner giving Turbine 40 million in cash to develop a future game with. They're no idiots- they see how hard Turbine works and busts their butts for their customers.
Justice will be Mines of Moria Expansion from LoTRO kicking WoLK's butt yet again this year:) May the hardest working MMO company win the 2008 GOTY award -I hope!!

The simple fact that you see nothing wrong with there being such a huge gap in different types of "epic items" in BC shows that you have no idea what I'm talking about. A purple (epic item) should be just that. An epic item. When the development team is to lazy to create a new category for items and simply starts calling them "a tier" of epic, that's just lazy and idiotic. Not to mention confusing to boot for the non mmo player.
That aside, I'm glad at least from yours or whomevers experience, that they wont be screwing over people again with items in the new expansion as they did with BC. Hopefully your level 70 tier 3892749823 epics won't be obsolete by level 71 greens, hahaha.
1.8 billion a year in revenue and like any great company they still will have a few people saying they got screwed or had bad CS. I dunno, seems like they do a good job to me. 10million subs still and climbing with WOTLK hype.

Uh, please, let's not forget how stupid the general public is. Look at who's been president the last 8 years for a wonderful example of this. Just because a lot of people are doing it doesn't make it good...
Complain all you want but Blizzard has always taken a very long time to release extra content for a its games. Blizzard uses the quality over quantity mantra, and i think they have done a good job.
So Much Ignorance WoW brings in a lot or money but that money does NOT go to Blizzard. It goes to Vivendi. Blizzard is given money for development, upkeep and other expenses like an allowance. I would have more respect for the OP if he had just said "I hate WoW because it sucks". No, instead he comes up with super lame excuses like "WoW doesn't have the amount of content I think it should" and "Blizzard makes too much money".
Ignorance?
Activision Blizzard and Vivendi = SAME ENTITY (Vivendi is majority shareholder)
Your statement is like saying the the underpants section of Marks & Spencer is an entirely separate organization from the fruit section. Ridiculous.
However, they have a nicely polished easy-mode game for casual players, where everyone is an equal and you're only "hardcore" if you raid a lot, which is seriously lame that the only thing to set apart the elite from the scrubs is how many hours you've wasted in that game. And before you go on, yes I know all MMOs the top players have played more then the lesser, but there was a visible difference whether it was in gear or levels. Someone who has been playing only for a year can be as high in levels and as geared out as someone who has been playing since launch and to me that is just pathetic and retarded.
These two thoughts highlighted in red appear to contradict themselves, on one hand it's lame to reward a person for the amount of time they've played the game but on the other hand it is pathetic and retarded not to reward someone for the amount of time they've spent playing the game.
It's no wonder Blizzard can't please you...

I don't need to mask anything, my friend. WoW gamers are like any other gamer except they like a game I don't play because I find it too easy. That's all.
Thanks for your 2 cents.
The point of my post is obvious: You are spiteful, condescending and insulting (fanboi am I?) to anyone who likes something you do not find challeging. I'm glad you pay for your family's accounts...too bad I wasn't refering to YOUR family (reread number 2).
Jaded gamers are those that use their bias feelings of one game (they themselves hold dear to them) and try to knock it over the head of others in a attempt to discredit features, gameplay or overall quality of a game another player is enjoying.
So again let's recap: I'm not a boy, I'm not your friend and if you got those two wrong how can you possibly label me something and you don't know me from Tom, Dick or Harry?
PS: I never once disagreed with your opinion or insulted your person (Again reread my post). I think you're barking up the wrong tree and will find out I'm not up there. I simply stated that your attitude stinks and let people enjoy the game they are currently playing. The content is fine for many players. BTW if Blizzard can keep your wife and son playing even after all the tripe I've heard you spill to strangers then I say they are doing a hell of a job. And that sir is my 2 cents + 1.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
Why am I pissed at blizzard? Well it wasn't always this way,I used to be a big fan of Blizzard. I loved blizzards older games from Lost vikings to Warcraft 3. These games were so polished and were tons of fun. These games aren't my problem, blizzard is my problem and the way they treat their customers. I played Wow and i think its a decent game. It's polished, fun and has great potential. I say potential cause blizzard is just happily collecting money and not giving anything back. Almost four years and all blizzard has given us is one Expansion and a handful of raids. They have 10 million subs and they dont even care to finish the Azeroth map. They have given us the same four battlegrounds to run over and over. They tossed us this worthless arena feature which is basically a glorified duel. When The burning crusade released Blizz spoke of portal worlds we would be able to access. they give us flying mounts but nothing to explore with them. most of the content they released after TBC was stuff they planned to include in the Xpac..... wtf! All that money and they give us crap. Look at games like LotRO and Eve Online, lotro has been out a year and has given more content than wow has in the last four years. Eve gives all its expansions away for free. Hell even EQ2 has released more content than WoW. I'm tired of it, no new classes in four years, unfinished zones, broken promises and glorified duels.... no thanks.
I know other players feel the way I do but still play cause its the "Cool thing to do" or friends still play the game. ./rant off
They make billions and 10million are happy in a way its community there fault.
If they all think like you do, leave game then dont give them anymore of your money untill they real give some exciting new content for your money.
The new Xpac is also new battle ground arena a old instance they dont have to develop much, maybe cost to much NAXXARAMAS again:p, areas look same in this new continent many mobs are same but for blizzard its just more billions of dollars to earn:)
You players should deside make them richer with same ol same ol content hehe or not.

Ramonski reply is correct one, bronks need to check replys better before accuse others and calling them boys hehe.
As long there no personal insults and other trash talk, everybody is entitled to there opinion here, so if many wow fans come to these forums and give opinion about there game or others its ok thats what mmorpg.com is all about as long you keep if civilised.

You call 4 BGs and arena's as endgame PvP after 4 years a fantastic job?

I just have to throw my 2 cents in here...
1. I don't like Blizzard because all their "ideas" are stolen from other companies/products.
Thumbs up for Blizzard.
----------------------------------------
Talking about SWG much?
Who let you in the VIP section?
Uh, please, let's not forget how stupid the general public is. Look at who's been president the last 8 years for a wonderful example of this. Just because a lot of people are doing it doesn't make it good...
Ignorance?
Activision Blizzard and Vivendi = SAME ENTITY (Vivendi is majority shareholder)
Your statement is like saying the the underpants section of Marks & Spencer is an entirely separate organization from the fruit section. Ridiculous.

"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
