Note that the following is my opinion and not a matter of fact (apart from the forum censorship part, which is reported without exaggeration)
The censorship on the AOC forums reached epidemic levels today with the minute-by-minute deletion of a hammering of quitting posts, and systematic censorship of all critical posts exposing Funcom's total lack of progress to try to save a contentless and terminally bugged, dying game.
Seems like everyone has realised their feedback just goes into the trash, there will be no major overhaul of the game, and that the player base is extremely small already.
There's also been a remarkable rise in the fanboy/shill population: Funcom apologists who have suddenly appeared to replace the critical posts with the notion that "today's patch was good" when it contained nothing but 3 small bugfixes while all the game content is still not there.
Clearly Funcom sold the game on the back of features that simply don't exist. They get called out on it, but those who criticise their posts have their posts deleted and infractions to their account.
Soon to come: server merges, server shutdowns and quite possibly a whimpering end to one of the most entertainingly botched yet strangely Orwellian MMO releases ever made

Seriously now, come on. I mean I play the game and it frustrates me to no end. I have cancelled as well but the claims you make are a little outlandish. The company has serious problems no doubt. It's a shame really because the game could have been so good.
Feel free to check the forums, watch as threads appear, click on them and note the critical posts.
Then update the page and watch as all those posts have disappeared, or the entire thread has gone.
he's right, Age of Conan has met its end, W00T!
No doubt the forums are nuts! I have had several threads locked/closed and recieved my share of "infractions".
while he may be exageratting in some regards, he is not in the fact that FunCom's player mods are more suited to a good ol fashioned book buring than they are to balancing the forums they were given power over.
server merges WILL take place.... of that I have no doubt.
but AoC will limp on... much like Vanguard has done.
I predict Xfire numbers alittle above what Vanguard is right now, and I predict this will happen in the next 2 months.
Funcom has crippled themselves.... dont expect another game from them for some time... and they MAY (as a last ditch effort) try to release an AoC expansion at the beginning of next year. (this will likely cause more people to cancel though)
Yep, no one saw this coming 3 months ago.
I saw it coming, and I was like ok, major hype!!! 700k boxes sold, this at the least will last till Warhammer comes out, and maybe I'll be playing 2 MMORPGs ok by me. 3 weeks later!!! W00t! Age of Conan rocks! 13 days later! Dang, this game really sux. Don't see it getting any better, I think I'm gonna quit
Yep if it folds it serves them right.
I am fed up of companies releasing MMORPG's is such DIRE states. I know MMORPG's can never truly be finished but there is a DAM LIMIT releasing a game that is stated to do this and that and with those features MISSING on release.
A few companies or MMORPG's need to crash and burn to teach the industry a so called lesson.
I Aplologise for my english as its a 2nd language.

Come on, just because Age of Conan was full of lies and epic fail. That does not mean that their new MMO "Secret World : Age of Gaia(shit)" will be full of epic fail as well :P
Playing: WoW,
Played: Aion, AoC, Eve, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Runescape, Guild Wars, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, WAR, Darkfall
Wanting to try: DCU Online
Waiting For: Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2.
Well, some people did, but they were tar and feathered as "trolls" by the super mature awesome AoC community! /cheers

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Well I was overhyped for a few reasons:
- The Hype
- The boobs
- My class, demonologist
- The combat system
- The Graphics
- Gotta get away from WoW and get into something new
- Age of Conan seemed to be perfect
What turned me off was the end game, lack of it, sorry but can we at least have some decent PvP?
I don't know I have never personally seen a post closed/deleted/moved etc that was actually valid mature critisism.
Pretty much everyone I have seen is always a variation of one of the following:
Perfect Example
Another good example
Another example But look Famine let it go for a little while in another post just to have fun. 2nd post
Another Here is the first post that this same guy made first post
These are all great examples from last night alone of what gets moderated on the forums.
I have never seen an actual valid thread get moderated. Maybe I am wrong though. But it seems that people are up in arms because they can't call Funcom names or rant about how they are quitting the game. I guess some people crave attention so much that they are incapable of formulating constructive feedback.

You're very very wrong, I've personally linked many threads here that got deleted on the AOC forums,
I do have a few dozen in a text file that I'm keeping in case someone asks me to post them.
You didn't see the geniune complaints that got deleted because ... they got deleted. It's mostly luck, but when I notice any critical post, I tend to copy paste it and a few seconds later -poof- it's gone from the forum.
Funcom failed at everything except for marketing
You mean critical threads like:

http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=151012
All of these threads are currently open. All of them are fairly long threads that have been around for more then a day or two (some as long as a month) and all of them are within the first few pages.
Sorry but I am not buying your "Valid critical threads are being deleted" opinion. I bet every single one of those threads either had something against the rules in the actual OP or the thread itself turned into a flame/troll war.

lol, and not just the forums, it's gamestop.com, amazon.com, mmorpg.com & forums, forums.ageofconan.com, gametrailers.com, are all saying Age of Conan sux, and say that MMORPG.com is the most popular
Nice work, I see you've come to try to firefight the bad press.
a) many of the threads you linked aren't critical; they're just making discussion points and are actually full of compliments eg: great game! but here's what we could improve to make it even better! etc which is really nothing more than subtle fanboyism
b) there are huge amounts of individual critical posts within those threads that were deleted, so overall the thread appears falsely positive
c) If you think posts aren't getting deleted systematically when they expose the lack of siege PVP, the lack of content, the poor patching and game progress, the poor raid instances or key "advertising points" - you haven't watched the forums closely enough. Posts like this one routinely disappear, as this one did (I've linked more in the thread called "EU moderators on a power trip" on this forum):

There is very minimal PVP content that is finished. The only thing that is actually finished are the mini-games, something that isn't played often and has absolutely no bearing on your character or the world
Sieges are unfinished, unoptimized, and generally unplayable. Again, little to no reason to siege besides stroking your e-peen.
PVP XP will enforce the idea that zergs will dominate all. Siege warfare even further promotes this. Khesh already consists of all of the zerg guilds on the servers trolling up different instances while they prance around in their NAP's. This just breaks the idea of skill.
Skill is redundant. The fact that some classes can instantly kill another class removes any idea of skill. All of the movement stuffs of before (block canceling, as an example) do not work and the game has been dumbed down.
Lack of balance has made end game content fairly boring. Content is either impossible or easy depending on the classes you have there. The idea that you >need< a class to instant kill minions, or a class to run a group of wolves around in a circle is absolutely silly. The usage of healers and tanks is what should have been in the game and not this "WE NEED DEMONOLOGISTS AND HOX TO TAKE OUT MINIONS" crap.
Grouping is redundant in everything but zerg PVP. No reason to group or do anything that requires groups as grinding is, simply put, faster.
Itemization is broken. There exists lower level blues that are better than higher level purples.
Lets see if this gets deleted."
Anything that suggests the core advertised features are not in-game are deleted, if you want to play a fun game try it yourself and see how long the stealth deletion of your posts takes.
its true. As a former player, i was listening in on a guild meeting and they are merging with another of the largest guilds. Our entire alliance that was more than 2000 players over 4 guilds is now down below 400. The mergers are going from 4 guilds to 2 guilds.
Glad i bailed on the 31st.
Well the game must be very popular otherwise why all this hate posts over and over again.
If you wanna know when game is truly dead is once you wont see almost any updates in this forums.
Atm it seems Age of Conan are one of the most popular forums on MMORPG.COM so troll on and promote the game.

I ve never wished a company to go under, but this is one company i want to see sweat a bit. This game is imploding big time and FC is getting what they deserve IMO. AOC go BOOM!!
Here is a post about PVP:

Are we seeing a trend yet? You can be critical without being immature and vulgar. You can criticize without making troll attacks.

The post that got deleted said exactly the same thing.
Both posts got deleted.
A huge number of other critical posts questioning the content of AOC were also deleted, and plenty of other people here have noticed it and reported about it.
http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=151902 was thrown into the off-topic section "where all threads go to die" - the other ones including "Please stop the 1 shotting" are left because quite frankly there's hundreds of them up there, with the posts within them heavily censored (which I see all the time as the more critical posts simply disappear)
Those threads don't question the fundamental lies of total lack of content in the game; but really if you are so keen on testing it, make a post criticising the total lack of siege content
I think the point is made, AOC forums are heavily censored to paint an Ellingson-type rosy picture of a boring, contentless, overhyped and now pretty much dead game.
The "residual hate" you see here on these forums is nothing but the dirt being piled on the coffin of Funcom.
actually the game is dying miserably. You wouldnt believe how fast the forums were moving 1 month in for the game. posts would drop to the 4th page in under a minute. Then rebill cycle came up and it dropped tremendously, then the next and it dropped again, and then again.
Found another one that got deleted in my text file, it demonstrates the extent of the PR lies and total fabrication of game features by showing the difference between the announced content of the game, and the actual content delivered:

"the pvp update...err...the pvp fugitive system and so on. It's all new stuff that we're adding in. It's not stuff that was suposed to be be in before launch"
http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/...T&func_id=2413
Yet, in the video about he brag on about PvP levels, PvP XP, PvP gear and all this stuff that was supposed to be in-game.
Now, to the title of this thread is exactly that: In April of this year E.E. says one thing about the game. Then, in July of this year he completely contradicts himself in saying "oh, this is NEW and was never planned for launch." Well, we caught this little PR LIE and now want some answers. Why is this guy still speaking for Funcom when he's lying to the customers?
Mods: Please, read this, watch the videos, and judged it yourself. Everything I've typed is how I've been fed and what it true to the definition of the words I use. No, this is not a flame or something like that, it's just a request for some answers as to how something like this happens.
