Edit : This is Tabula Rasa all over again (for bugs and polish)
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
This game is 10000000x TR, I played TR it was garbage. Everything he said was true. That's it though, those are like 90% of the bugs in game and thats it. Just spend one hour in game and you will be amazed at how polished and great of a game it is. The T1 scenario has more content than all of TR.
Lets see these bad, gamebreaking bugs.
Paper Doll sometimes gets messed up. Check. I could care less.
Fall damage hurts a little more than it should. Check. This is hardly a bug/issue
Getting stuck in the enviroment. Check. Although it takes me 2 seconds to get unstuck, this is quite annoying. Big whoop, I get hung up in a fence once a week that takes me 2 seconds to get out of by using the jump button.
Never encountered any movement bugs and I've never seen or heard about them.
No graphic settings yet, they specifically said there wouldn't be any until open beta. Check.
CTDs I guess happen to people? I haven't had one on a live server in about a month.
Server Stability is fine, it has been a little unstable in the past week though. They are aware of it, don't you read the beta forums?
Friendly collision detection is annoying, they are aware of it.
Clipping issues, /yawn. Cloaks are ugly, we will have the ability to turn them off. Check.
That's it, those miniscule bugs on top of a extremely polished an fun game with thousands of hours of content, there hasn't been a bugged quest for two months or so, RvR keeps and BO work flawlessly. The amount of scenarios and sheer things to do is amazing. It's like some people almost want this game to fail.

whoever said that needs to be beat with a stick repeatedly. It's not even close to TR
Mythic basically just let all the CE just for the PR. Ya, we helped stress test the servers and fixed numerous bugs. But the older , invited testers, such as those invited on the Elder Servers test the the features that we dont have access too.
Say if Mythic closed beta right now. The game that we have been playing is not the version thats going to be released. They have a complete and polished version, with bugs of course, but its proble 2/3 better than what we have been playing.
Ya, the game has bugs, but don't have a heart attack.

Its no use trying to coerce people. Most have made their minds up before the beta even started.

I never talked about the content, I know War has a lot more and I'm not a hater I will buy it. I'm just a realist, unlike a lot of people here. Bugs like those that are in the game take A LOT more than 1 month to fix, their not minor.
As for graphic settings not implemented that's a big scary one. How can they deal with incompatibilities if they don't test it enough? How can they improve the performance of those settings if their not in? Sorry but a small inside team of tester is NOT enough to do this.
I look forward to playing WAR along with continuing to play AOC and VGSOH. I can afford to play more than one mmorpg thankfully.
However, get ready for the haters to hijack these forums like they did with AOC. It's already started but will get unbearable 1-4 weeks after release when the hardcore locusts devour endgame and start complaining that WAR, an unfinished game, is part of the axis of the evil and responsible for all the world's ills.
Also get ready for Joe-tight-arse who expects 50 bucks to buy him a permanent vacation from all that vexes him/her in the big bad world of the 'real': his motto is, "I want my money back."
Good luck WAR, look to the AOC forums if you want to see the future of these forums
Hopefully when the game is released with the complete build with the content, the good buzz that it will(hopefully generate) Will draw them back for another try. Ya theres always the chance that the game will pit fall, but I won't commit suicide because of it.
Hell I am thouroghly enjoying the buggy beta, maybe theres something wrong with me lol.
(...) Like a poster before me typed, there are too many fanboys on these forums that are not in the beta who will not acknowledge any negative comments before they actually play the game. Such was the case with AoC, and the same applies to WAR.
I agree with that, whats even more funny will be once the game is released and people quickly find them selves unable to complete or participate in a PQ becuase some large guild is 'grinding' and then watch the same 'fanbui's' run back here and whine!
Whats even more funny is the fact that WAR will NEVER be the 'WoW Killer' most of these fanbui's wished it was, and will not exceed anywhere close to 1mil subscribers! Nor will they last past 12 months before they start server mergers!
Oh yeah, i cant wait to say i told you so, just like i did with AoC!!
Fanbui's ruin games by OVER-HYPING them, and they dont even realize it, good job!

The graphics were changed so that the lower settings can be tested. If you remember, Age of Conan's lower settings actually decreased performance.
As for the OP; you'll have to excuse me if I don't take seriously your fragment ridden, poorly structured review. You, of course have the right to your opinion... However I have the right to think that you're not too bright. This is not a flame; just a simple truth.
Good reviews tend to state both the strong and weak aspects of the game, you've failed to do this in even the most basic way.
You state the game isn't "that bad" than proceed to contradict your own words with complete hyperbole. To put it more simply, you overblow the negative aspects of the game and proceed to completely ignore everything else.
We have no use for gushing "fanboi" reviews, nor do we have a need for disgrunteled Ex-WoW PVE raid degenerate reviews. Please take this into account before writing another "article". Thank you.
I'm a beta tester too, only been playing for 1 week so far. I have to agree with most of the point the OP said. I tried almost every classes (to 8-10) so far and i just can't find one i'm having fun with. They all pretty much plays the same, it's just the same attacks with different names.
Combat is really buggy at times and feel sluggish. Sometimes you pull a mob and it will start to come to you, then go back, then charge you.... most frustrating thing is that you will target a mob, start shooting and it will not move for like 4-5 seconds then all of the sudden it will come and just as you get ready to engage it in melee it will run back to the spawn point and reset back to full....
Playing a pet profession must be the most frustrating thing to do, your pet attack when he feels like it, sometimes it will just stand there doing nothing, you will often engage a mob and your pet is nowhere near you, they get stuck often. I dont see how pet professions will be able to play in RVR with colision detection.....
As a melee characters you often need to spam the same 2-3 attacks, this cause your AP (Action Point) pool to reach ZERO very rapidly leaving your characters doing mostly white strikes. Sometimes an attack seems to be available to use (no timer on the shortcut) you hit it and it will says it's not available....
As a range characters the bow animation is ridiculously overdone. Each time you fire an arrow it's like you trying to hit a target 5 miles away, your character is literally aiming at a star.
Casters have spell pushbacks just like in WOW, you get hit the casting bar go back half a seconds each time, it's bad when your spell takes 3 seconds to cast....
I havent played much RVR but from what i seen, range characters dominate. If you play a melee and try to kill someone you will most likey get killed by a range or mage character before reaching your target.
I'm glad i'm in the beta, they still have 1 month before release to fix all of that, if nothing is been done i dont see myself buying this game.

I concur as I have beta tested both games.
But I am stil concerned about PVP being range centric.

Debatable. *shrug*, they are to different to compare really, one is a derivative, the other innovates. Execution not withstanding.
Ill be picking up a warhammer box soon, but i may wait till after the initial rush. To be honest, I’m about done with fantasy games altogether...just to many of them. At least warhammer has a steam punk thing going for it...sort of.

It doesn't matter what you tell the trolls. You can brag about a game and how good it is and your accused of lying. You tell them the truth about the state of the game and they blow it out of proportion. Its becoming very hard to determine who actually wants to know information about the game from those that want it to burn.

PVP isn't range centric at all. In small scale battles melee can dominate any of the ranged players. If you are talking about giant massive zerg battles then yes ranged characters seem good because they fight from the back, but even so melee are just as viable. If you read the sticky in this forum about the flow of battle you will understand. Only during the first stage of massive battles are range characters so viable.
Ever run into another class alone as a ranged character? Even in small scale it will have you doing a 180 on your take on these things. This post is full of early judgements in very specific scenarios.
Theres just no reason to pq once you have max influence. And roles count the factor of how much influence you have. A player with less influence is more likely to win something. Than someone whos been camping the pq and has full influence.

Thank you SO much for posting this. We basically had the exact same experience. I really felt like I was the only one, since many others have disagreed with me.
And yes, the bow animations are pretty amusing. Its really funny watching the arrow fly to the target at 1 mph or using Eagle Eye when the target is in melee range.
No MMoRPG is ever going to be perfect or even that close at release, anyone who can't handle bugs at release should wait a few months before buying the said game. For the vast majority that can live through minor bugs at release War is a very good choice as it is a very fun game as is. The only major bug I have encountered was the zone resetting one and I haven't seen that for the last two days now.
Some have stated that the graphics aren't very good but to me they are fine (similar to WoW) and very immursive with the theme of RvR warfare from the very start! I was shocked how busy the Greenie side was when I first zoned in, and signs of RvR warfare are everywhere! I can't even imagine how you could make the experience more immursive, reminded me of the Goblin and Orc starting zone of Vanguard. I'm running the graphics at 1280x1024 so maybe at higher resolutions it might have some problems.
Someone stated that the mob not reacting to range shooting was a major problem for him, I found if this bug happens just take a few steps toward him and he will free up. Certainly not a major concern in my opinion.
While this game is not without its problems(although minor in my opinion) its game play is way above any MMoRPG I've played to date so i will definetly buy a copy at release. If you like RvR/PvP this game has hit that spot even better than DAoC in my opinion as the combat lasts longer and no major gank fest of mass mez just waiting for your turn to be killed. You don't even have to do a single quest, although most seem to be entertaining, as you can level up just doing public quests or RvR. Grinding if you choose to do so, seemed pleasantly brief and entertaining.
Did War revent the wheel?...No but it sure refined the mechanics for a totally fun experience!

If you haven't played much RvR then why are you even commenting on it? Especially since your conclusions are false. Massive fail there.
I play a Black Orc and have no issues with range classes at all. Range do not dominate in any way. Every class type is viable. And tanks are awesome in PvP / RvR. That right there sold this game for me. The fact that the rest of the game is fun too is just gravy.
Next time you get into the game you should actually try the RvR since it is the focus of this game. If you don't like RvR then this game is probably not for you.
Some of your other points are valid but minor. The rest is just your opinion and a mnority one.
The pets do need work and Mythic if fixing them. And I don't agree about the classes being the same at all. They really start to shine when you hit tier 2. You should get out of the newb areas and experience the next tiers, they are very good. The combat feels fine to me. ETC.
Anyways. Mythic seems to be aware of the things that need work and seem to fix them pretty fast. For me the game is playable as is but it will need more work to keep me long term.
Compare it to AoC. AoC had serious design flaws, major bugs, and whole game systems which do not work. WAR is the exact opposite...some minor bugs, stable design, and everything works.

Jesus....Its beta.

I've noticed that lock.

Thank you.

No you don't get stuck frequently and all you do to get unstuck is the jump button.
Crafting ISN'T bugged, tailsman isn't in yet. Crafting is however very underwhelming.
AH will be in by launch.
Okay, so I guess you can call it a TR clone because in both games it is possible to get stuck in a fence. Good one....
And like I said before, there is more content and polish in one scenario than all of TR.
거북이는 목을 내밀 때 안 움직입니다
I'm not getting stuck on terrain at all, I know what you are talking about because it was terrible in AOC but it doesn't happen to me in WAR.
So your going to be changing your avatar soon then?

LOL ! Dont get me wrong, WAR even tough it has bugs is still 100 times better then AOC.

You wouldn't understand
PVP isn't range centric at all. In small scale battles melee can dominate any of the ranged players. If you are talking about giant massive zerg battles then yes ranged characters seem good because they fight from the back, but even so melee are just as viable. If you read the sticky in this forum about the flow of battle you will understand. Only during the first stage of massive battles are range characters so viable.
Ever run into another class alone as a ranged character? Even in small scale it will have you doing a 180 on your take on these things. This post is full of early judgements in very specific scenarios.
Have you actually played a pq sub?
