IP blocking , Split Servers = No money from me .. full stop this prctice is driven by greed and greed alone. And there is no argument that can justify it.
It beggars belief that these companys commit financial suicide even before the game is released.
Best way to let them know your disgust is ... " Dont give em your hard earned Cash "
So europeans who only speak english appart from their native language will be forced to learn german/french or spanish to play on localized servers? No thank you.

As it is I can't see this selling in the UK. UK Players would be very much second class citizens. Any maintenance would be done at hours to suit the US, the servers will presumably be in the US and the peak hours will be during UK night time. Great!

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...
Europeans who only speak English are the brits, who are excluded.. smartass
ontopic: u can only blame acclaim for this, they licensed USA/Oceania and the UK.. and there wont be any ip blocking soo whats the prob?
MMOs currently playing: - About to play: Lord of the Rings Online Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

Ermmm have you tried going to the eu site from the uk - not gonna happen unless you hide your IP, it looks to me that IP blocking already exists and see the link I posted earlier
While I agree the publishing wrangles about who gets which market is the cause of this problem, it's a shame the developers of the game had to go down this route of having seperate publishers, I guess it was a 'need' to do otherwise who in their right mind would agree to splitting the UK from the EU ?
I doubt anything can be done, all we can do is register our objections

i only read the part "Mindscape and Frogster will NOT do any IP blocking."

Well as most of you guys will know the chances of UK players and other EU players playing together are very slim,I thought I would start this thread just too show the devs how much this is a bad idea and how we want to have ALL european players on the same servers. Please sign if you feel the same or at least support the idea. Thanks guys.
"I would like to petition the Devs with our issues but first I would like to see who woud join us!
1. NA servers will mean UK players with suffer with time lapses and Lag issues.
2. Unless there is 24 hour GM support - we'd be logging out as they logged in.
3. Same iwth the community - we'd be toddlig off to bed as they began to play
4.We are separated from a community already built on the forums and through other games as we presumed, being part of the EU officially, we would be included in the EU server list.
The UK as a seperate server would struggle through lack of gamers, so this is not feasable either."
I used to play the original EQ from just outside Portland Oregon with people as far away as Holland, never had any problems then. Has the internet gotten worse in the years since the original EQ was the big dog?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

This game is quite a different beast and demands much more from the Internet in terms of response time than EQ ever did.
as a European from a non-English speaking country I find this move stupid beyond belief. Very bad PR to annoy a big share of your customer base even before launch!
I have a feeling, it might be Acclaim pushing for this. They are not ready to launch and have a fairly dodgy reputation. Perhaps they don't want their potential future North-American customers seeking "refuge" on an English speaking European server.
It is a shame, really, as the game itself is quite fun!
Signed! It's stupid not to allow the UK to play with all the other EU countries. Lots of ppl if in guilds or just have ppl they play with are from different countires in the EU so don't stop them playing together.
Death from above. Death from bellow. Death from the side. I'm coming to get you!
I'm a US player and though it would be great to play with folks from the UK...it makes no sense to me that Europe is being split up on servers like it is.
/signed and hooray for the greedy bastards called publishers! no seriously its just bloody stupid, i cant imagine that any spellborn dev would find this a good idea to do.. but i got power! i wont pay for the game until its fixed
Well said mate .... they dont get a penny of my Dosh either ... fix it or lose alot of players . Or are the Spellborn Dev's total imbeciles ?
I can see where you are coming from Thatim, but someone at Spellborn made the mistake of selling the rights of the game to the publishers knowing full well that they were partitioning Europe.
It was also out of order for them to reveal that Mindscape and Frogster will be most probably IP Blocking the UK a mere week before EU release. Where was the heads up?
Sorry but tbh all the blame lies with Spellborn, its thier IP they should have looked after it. - You'd have thought witnessing the GOA/Mythic debacle would have forewarned them, obviously quick cash is more important to them than thier playerbase.

From what I read the answer was 'apart from the uk' when it came to IP blocking by the EU publishers .
from tcos.com/sbforum/viewtopic.php
You have a link to that statement?
Evilgeek beat me to it.

I just don't understand why they didn't offer Direct Download and purchase online instead of doing this.
Is there some benefit I'm missing to alienating a large part of their customer base before the game is even released?

It's hard to believe...the NDA is lifted, looks like the game is quite good, but hardly anybody talks about the game itself!
Such bad PR! And so clearly it could have been anticipated by the people in charge.
If it is true. It might be, and if it is true it is a good thing to show your response to it in the hope of changing their mind.
I hope it is not true, or they change their mind.

No really, the devs are great guys, its not their choice, I am 100% sure about it.
