there is exactly one guild that has finished 25 man naxx. So you are in that guild? Nice try though. I'm sorry Warhammer is failing so badly and is merging 60% of their north american servers. Oh hey, look.... a press release. Wrath sold 2.8M copies in 24hrs and Blizzard had to open 22 new servers in north american and EU. But really, nice try with the 'my guild already killed all the bosses in the game' line. There isn't even a guild on my server that has 25 members who are level 80 yet.
I got news for you just because a game does server merges doesn't mean its failing..WAR is doing server merges because they opened too many servers to start with......Ask any1 that plays WAR and they will tell you that on many of the servers that there have been massive battles, bigger than you would ever see in WOW..So nice try @ attempting to trash a game you have never played...Every1 knows that you love WOW and that you like to frequent the other forums and come to WOW's rescue...
As far as press releases goes, it doesn't matter how many copies they sell, it doesn't mean people are playing it or have tried it and are already bored.
So you think warhammer is merging servers because it is growing? Everything we can look at clearly indicates warhammer is flopping big-time.
1. Amazon and other listings had Warhammer falling out of the top 100 box sales 2 weeks after launch. This means no new players. Warhammer is now ranked around #500
2. Xfire statistics show that 75% of players have stopped playing since the end of September. While you can argue that xfire users aren't average.. they aren't completely 'unaverage' and that 75% number does indicate a huge loss.
3. 60% of servers are merging and no servers are in queue any more. While you can rewrite history and say they launched too many servers... that is because they were expecting players to stick around. They DID have queues the first week, so those servers were needed then.
4. personal reports. While you say there is 'epic battles'.. there are many more reports of RvR lakes being empty and of guilds going from 100's down to 10 etc. Even players who are playing the game and like it are reporting empty guilds and no action other than scenarios.
And to show that people ARE playing WOW. The number of servers that are in queue is still very high during primetime (greater than 50% of servers). WOW has released 25 or so new servers in the past two weeks to handle all the people trying to play.
But don't worry, there are still people who think AOC is doing fine too.
You have to be kidding right? The only problem is they opened to many servers and not that people are leaving the game?
Ok, on your side you have "people" who say there are huge battles.
Mythic has stated 1.2 million copies sold. (faster than any MMO has sold at release)
Over 70% subscription retention rates (higher than they expected)
800,000 active players
So by all accounts the game is doing better than they expected, retaining more people than they expected and broke launch sale records.
All this and you want people to believe they planned for even MORE players to join the game? If this is true it will be a bigger blunder than Atari with the E.T. video game disaster.
Mythic is merging close to 50% of their servers... 50%. By your claims that would mean they expected more people to be playing the game than there were total copies of the game made. That is the only way for your theories to be possible. Lets not forget the Mythic ADDED servers after launch. That isn't something you do if you have more than double the amount of servers you need is it?
The reality is that even with merging all the players together in just half of the servers they still cannot manage to get one full/full server. The number of servers that are med/med is almost less that 20. Gone are the servers with ques to log in, because so many people are playing. Gone are the heavy population servers.
Nothing and I mean nothing suggests that this game is retaining players. I suppose in some classrom sort of discussion that server mergers do not mean that a game is doing poorly, especially just a few weeks after release, but there is no way on earth that there were 26 to many servers just for North America. There is no possible way that Mythic over estimated that much.
Yes I play Warhammer, yes I can log in and see that what you are saying isn't true. How can your doom-o-meter be so broken that you claim WoW is dead and on its way out and then say Warhammer is doing fine and server mergers don't mean the game is losing players?
im curious how one finds the time to examine all this information about a game he doesnt like and still manage level 80 in such a short time. i know leveling in WOW is not a great challenge but i would think one would have to spend at least sometime in the "effort"
I'm sure I'm one of a small crowd, but the entire genre of MMO's are losing their appeal for me as they are just so dumbed down as to be repetitive and boring. I was bored with WoW years ago and no matter eye candy is thrown on it - I don't care. WAR is a miserable joke of a game, but I might try it again in a year if I start reading tons of glowing rave reviews. The upcoming Bioware Star Wars might be okay, but not unless it requires both brains and skill (and what are the odds of that happening?). I'd like to play a slightly upgraded Origins, but I doubt Mythic has the vision to pull that off. So I'm playing "Left for Dead" now and I may end up back in Planetside after that. Good luck to you.
you are not alone. and its not just mmo's either. i find most games to be "dumbed down" and the single player offerings are very short also.

just an idea...
start new mmo
have lots and lots of servers to make for a smooth opening and spread out subscriptions (and factions)
wait for free month subs to quit
now, you have your basic starting stable subscribers, and you know how many of each faction will be on each servers...so
now you can merge servers to help balance the factions safely
No sane developer plans to merge servers right after launch. Server mergers are just bad press for a game, espeically one that is trying to build a foundation in the market.
Also the way Mythic rolled out the servers in several stages pretty much guarenteed they would not have an evenly distributed population.
It's funny how simply stating your opinion can get you flamed and bullied. Sad, really
Oh spare us the martyr routine please. In your whole 45 days on these forums you have done nothing but post a bunch of WoW flame bait posts in an attempt to build up Warhammer. You get the exact sort of response you are looking for. At least be honest enough to admit that one thing.
There is a difference between stating an opinion and telling unbelievable lies to make yourself look plausable. A little over a week ago you were saying how horrible and boring WoW was and within the next few days you changed your mind, bought the expansion, leveled to max and beat every raid encounter in the game and suddenly became an expert on lich king.
Yeah sure, you are just here to simply state your opinion. Fine if you don't like WoW, but at least keep your opinions in the realm of believability please.

Couldn'ta said it better myself. Stating your opinion is one thing, stepping on everyone's toes while you do it is something else altogether.
Hey Greyhoof pop down to the other thread and tell us your character name and server, the one you actually defeated all the raiding content in WoTLK and TBC pre-nerfs please.
So I took the advice of people on here, bought the xpac and played it, levelling my warrior to 73. I have to say, I'm already bored - it's the same thing as I did in TBC and quite frankly the graphics are terrible, blocky and the armors look awful (it doesn't help that I'm a human and the human models are blocky and ugly) The quests are the same old stuff, and although there's some cutscene bits, it's the same gather xp by doing pointless stuff that I've seen before. There's no decent PVP, and I miss the tactics and immediate PVP from Warhammer, where I levelled by doing a rotation of scenarios while questing and doing PQ stages. I'll continue to 80 and farm Naxx 25man, Malygos and Sart with my old guild for a bit. They've already killed every boss in the game and I'll just pick up the epics when I get there, but for now I find the expansion to be a boring, easy and soulless cash-cow.
No way you played the latest expansion and got bored, no goddamn way. You sir, are a filthy LIAR. It is not even possible to be bored in this game with all the fun things available for you to see and do. Just because an elite guild beat the raid content doesn't mean the game isn't worthwhile. Go back to playing that crappy ass WAR and shut your damn mouth.
Don't hate me because my games rock and yours suck!
Hey Greyhoof pop down to the other thread and tell us your character name and server, the one you actually defeated all the raiding content in WoTLK and TBC pre-nerfs please.
Dude, he can't do that, he was so dissapointed by WotLK that he deleted all his characters and deinstalled the game.
WoW is killing the MMO industry, that's the problem with monopolies.
You have a lousy understanding of a monopoly. A monopoly, among other things, needs to control at least 90% of the market. That means if WoW has 12 million players, every other MMO would have to have a grand total (between all of them) of 1.2 million or less.
Obviously false.
Moreover, even if WoW controlled the entire market, it might still not be a monopoly. It would be a little like controlling the entire Blu-Ray market or something - yeah, you might be gold there, but if you start screwing around, people will just stick with DVDs.

Read what you just wrote and realise that what you're saying is that if my opinion differs from yours, it is unbelievable.
Fascism much?
"Stating your opinion is one thing, stepping on everyone's toes while you do it is something else altogether."
Stepping on people's toes by stating my opinion?
You guys think it's ok to bully and be rude to people who don't like WoW.
You got some serious issues there kids
No that is not what I am saying and you know it.
Making up stories that are completely UNBELIEVABLE and then using those lies to justify your opinions is what I am calling you out on.
I am fine with you having a differing opinion and even debating points with you, but when you fabricate stories and then try to martyr yourself when people call you out for lies is when I have a problem.
As I said earlier, you are getting the exact type of response you came here seeking. At least be honest about one that ok?
All I see is aggression and bullying tbh, just because I stated my opinion that WotlK is too easy, skillless and hence boring, you guys think it's ok to shout at me asking for my char details so you can continue the verbal abuse in-game and bad-mouth my raiding guild
Get your heads checked out. I'm entitled to my opinions
I'd tell you how Malygos went last night, but since you don't believe a word I say even though I gave you my obviously first-hand experiences of all the fights, I won't bother

Originally posted by jblah How did it fail again at being better than WOW? oh yeah the only thing WOW players can say"it has 11 million subs" unless ofcourse you would like to elaborate more on how WOW is better? War did not have all conent cleared in 3 days from release ( yes achievments may not be all done but they are just a cheap tome of knowledge anyway with no reason other than bragging rights) It is not still balancing classes after 4+ years, They created new ideas and did not steal all their ideas from previous games. Server maintenence problems still after 4+ years with the same problems? So 11 million subs..... ok got WAR there, millions of people followed Hitler did not make them right or better than anyone else so please tell me how WOW is better than WAR?
11 Million subscriptions is a result of people enjoying a game and word of mouth being positive about the gameplay. Ask most people who play/played WoW and they say it is a fun game.
Selling 1.2 million box copies and having to merge half of your servers in 2 months, because you can't retain people is a result of boring unfinished game play. Warhammer didn't have content cleared shortly after release, because no one tested it. The end game system is broken and doesn't function properly. As someone else said the design is pants on head retarded. A game that highlights large scale open world PvP requires people to hide in instances and grind PvE content.... pants on head retarded is accurate. Even the crazy fans of the games before release are gone. You don't see many of them talking about how awesome Warhammer is going to be anymore do you? Nope, what you hear now is "patch 1.1 should fix things and hopefully get the game back in order, then people will come back".
Also, you invoked Hitler on the interweb, you lose.
everyone leaving warhammer is actually a result of the game being very buggy in the first month so they left for WoW which has been out for ages and has very little problems. So the people couldn't be arsed to wait and see if warhammer would be better.
I believe WoW when it was released was utter crap and was almost unplayable so WAR was going in the right direction its just that no one wanted to be patient.
I did not leave WAR because of bugs or glitches. In fact I rarely encountered any bugs.
No I left it in my first month because of its terrible game design and extremely boring gameplay. It really did feel like I was playing an even simpler version of WoW on a PvP server. I went into the game expecting to get involved in decent RvR battles and all I found were mini battlegrounds and incredibly dull PvE quests. The gear in the game had no variety and the classes were really boring to play. You can fight over keeps in WAR but there isnt actually any reason to, so as a result many of the players just dont bother with them and stick to the PvE and scenarios.
Now THAT is truly awful game design. Mythic made and RvR game and didnt actually include any reason for the players to take part in it........and they wonder why players have left it and gone back to playing WoW? LOL! All they seem to be able to do is try and entice players to do things by tempting them with superficial reasons like more exp for RvR and more gear. There still isnt actually any reason at all for the RvR in WAR to take place and that is something that Mythic can NEVER fix........although I suppose they could totally redesign their crappy game.
Basicly WAR is just a PvE game just like WoW with the "option" to fight players if you can find any that can be bothered. Its funny that Mythic spent years designing this crap and couldnt forsee what a failure it would be.
Our guild (top 50 on our server in old TBC and 180 people) will begin raiding in January to let everyone enjoy the ride to 80 with ease.
Why are you and Azrile (or you are the same person maybe, who knows) so worried about the pace of leveling and dungeon clearing in WoW? Are you so scared that people will get bored and quit WoW because of this?
You shouldn't worry mate. There is not other MMO out there that gives a better gear progress out there. So people who don't mind grinding will continue grinding for their gear in "the chronicles of Naxxramas IV".
note: I can't imagine a guild in WoW with 50 people like bodypass. They couldn't complete any dungeon because of telling each other "God has created the woman, then WoW, then the men to play WoW in their spare time"

Just listen to the outragious claims in this thread and maybe you can understand the disbelief a little bit. A couple of die hard WoW haters talk non stop about how bad this game is and that it is dying blah blah blah.
Then, for reasons unknown, ran out to buy the expansion and defeated everything the game has to offer (or only have 1 boss fight left). For people who cannot see any single positive quality in the game they are now claiming to play the game as hardcore as some of the worlds best and most dedicated players.
This whole thread is filled with so much BS it isn't even funny and then there are people like yourself who just want to toss out personal insults as if it somehow establishes your opinion of the game.

WoW is not killing the industry, lazy and unimaginitive developers are killing the industry.
Fine if you don't like WoW, but at least keep your opinions in the realm of believability please.
Let me guess, it was boring?
What we can't understand is why you continue to play if you don't enjoy it? Maybe you need a job or something?

I wiped for the 4th time in the third dungeon Azjul Nerub. I must be a moron. But seriously:
For those really playing the game here is a good overview of the different basic dungeons (including the heroic modes);
http://www.wowinsider.com/photos/wrath-of-the-lich-king-dungeons/1188085/
It describes the quests leading up to the different dungeons. Cool overview for those wanting to add the quests to their line. No raids overview yet.
But of course superman Greyhooff already did them all.
