It was one thing when they destroyed SWG on Lucas Arts command but destroying their own Games?! Seriously. Charging 10 dollars for items they usually give away for free as gifts to long term subscribers?! I could rant all day back to back about how thats the last straw. I've always stood by the fact that yea their tactics were always shitty but atleast EQ1 and EQ2 were great games and I love them but this is enough to keep me from ever resubbing.
I'll laugh my ass off if Blizzard goes this route since I know the mass hungry life time players there will eat it up as if its Gold eggs being Shat out of a golden goose.
The "this is the best idea Blizzard's ever had" comments will make me laugh even harder rofl...i'll need that laughter as right now im about near tears. Damn you SOE...I tetered on the edge and now ya went n shoved me off into the haters catagory!
lol, adding a item mall to p2p games. with items everyone wants too... pathetic. im glad im not playing any soe games.
MMOs currently playing: - About to play: Lord of the Rings Online Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
If Sony are doing this you bet your life all the others will follow sooner or later ....... a very very sad day for Mmo gaming. I now feel kind of betrayed by SOE as I've sometimes tried to put forward their good points to people ..... now sadly I just dont know what to say. Seems Ironic that after killing off one of their own games ( SWG ) they are now setting their sights on killing off the whole P2P Mmo industry.
I will never play an SoE mmorpg no matter how good it is now. I Will not support this in any way. I was considering starting vanguard but Buying it and paying for it would mean helping SoE, This is really a slap in the face to all the players of their games. I hope SoE goes the way of Flagship studios.

We aren't going to be allowing RMT in any way, shape or form on the non-exchange enabled EQ II servers. Period. End of statement.
In any event, I wanted to stop in and at least set the record straight - you aren't going to be seeing RMT allowed on the non-exchange enabled servers.

I am confident they will add this to Vanguard also, I mean why not. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just kidding themselves. Vanguard has a different item base so they are probably working on it.
I can't wait to see JesterRodo's thoughts on this when he sees this. He will be in heaven.
If Square enix ends up doing something like this for FFXI I will quit that too. This is making me seriously reconsider playing mmorpgs or just finding another hobby.

Well lets hope so , I am a massive Lotro fan and I would be devastated if Turbine pulled something like this ... all I can say is I feel sorry for dedicated EQ players , I'm just glad I only have played SOE games now and again on my Station Pass , but to be Honest they can stick their Station Pass where the sun dont shine now .. I'm truly disgusted by this blatant SOE greed.
I hope the entire EQ community comes to their senses and quits EQ in protest of this. There is plenty to keep them busy for many months, And I bet if at least one out of every three players quits EQ or EQ2 they will re think what they have done here.
hasn't blizzard also been talking about adding cash shops too?
Yes, Blizzard also added a cash shop with the last expansion.
Blizzard would be most surprised to hear this. Someone needs to tell them about the cash shop they added to the game

I know I'm the vast minority, but I actually like this in concept. Please read further before flaming.
I'm a big fan of allowing methods to alter the time vs money balance. If I'm a casual player (which I am), but have a little spare $$$ (which happens once in a while), and I cannot keep up the same levelling pace as friends, I would welcome the chance to spend a few dollars and buy a potion that allows me a +50% XP gain for an hour or two. This would allow me to continue to experience the game at my pace, while making greater levelling gains than I could otherwise.
Offering exclusive decorative items is a gray area to me. If you made it, offer it to the players to enhance their experience - don't sell it to them. This isn't a free game (EQ2) -- people subscribe monthly and should be entitled to any additions/changes that development does.
ANYTHING , read: ANYTHING that alters the effectiveness of a character in a way that can not be siumlated via other means (such as offering a weapon with stats that are otherwise unattainable at a given level, or offering items that provide skills/bonuses that cannot be found otherwise in-game), is an absolute NO-NO. This offsets player balance and creates disparity between those who have them (i.e., paid for them), and those who do not.
I'm not sure where Sony has drawn the line in the sand on this, but I hope they are erring on the side of caution.
Do you guys think this has something to do with Sony cutting 4% of their staff (16,000 jobs)? I know they're trying to squeeze any profits they can out of all their products so it just seems logical that they're selling pixel items (worth absolutely nothing) for real money.

How would you justify the 15 dollar a month subscription fee on top of an item mall fee? If they do one they should not do the other, this is a total rip off.

I'm not currently subscribed to EQ2 but I hope they re-evaluate this decision
