This game is nothing more than a Shadowbane clone with mounts and ships.
I don't see 1 single supposed feature that is new.
Either way it makes no difference because it's going to fail and will not have half of the stuff working in it as they've always been saying.. or if they DO... it won't be like what people have been imagining in their heads all these years.
I predict the majority of people who followed this will play for a month or two.. find out they don't like it.. and just move on to another game. LOL

He says it because we have seen it time and time again.
Just in the last year alone we have seen it with PotBS, AoC and WAR (and that's just the games I followed - there are undoubtedly others that could be added to the list?)
There are a 'tribe' of people who jump from one game to the next... fanboi-ing them all.
You see them on the forums telling you how this game will rock (despite the fact they have never actually played it).
They say that games have this feature, or that feature, or work a certain way (despite the fact the Devs have never said any such thing)
They get into the Beta Tests and rather than actually look at the game critically, they simply convince the Devs it is 'perfect as it is' and shout down anyone who dares to suggest otherwise.
Then the game goes live... the faults are exposed by paying customers and the fanbois bail.
You can spot these people by their poorly punctuated and spelled posts amongst other things.

Then is a good thing those people aren't invited to DarkFall's Beta, isn't it ?
Thats the thought behind to not let every gimp in the beta i guess..

If that was the case then World of Warcraft would be the game the revolutionized PvE MMO's, and it isn't. Taking bits and pieces from other games. Then mashing them together does not make something revolutionary. Revolutionary would be the progression between 2D to 3D to Virtual Reality. Sorry no matter how you would like to twist it. Darkfall is not revolutionary.

2D to 3D wouldn't be a sudden, radical or complete change?
But no never said the features in DarkFall individually were recolutionary.
False, in AC you could learn spells. In DF you buy them.. (in AC now, you have to buy them/find them as well)
So, AC is the only true mmo?
Nope was just proving a point.
I still don't get your point.....
So in DF you buy skills just like almost every other MMO....this proves what again? thats its planetside?
You didn't really think this through did you
What don't you get?
He said you had to buy skills in EVERY MMO. I said, NOT IN AC.. is it that hard to understand?
Nothing about darkfall says "Hey, look! I'm different" No more than anything about WoW says "hey Look! I'm different"
Just because you pull things stuff that's already been revolutionary, like FPS combat in an MMO, or ship battles doesn't make it revolutionary.
That's the point. Now look beyond your nose when you think.

So, after reading the Noob Reviews I thought I'd post my own insight on a different thread, as both of those threads seem to .. well step away from the OP. It seems Darkfall is going more and more away from a typical MMORPG with full loot, and more into a persistent FPS, sort of like a continuing CoD4 map, that just doesn't end, but instead of guns, you have swords. Then, after reading about "power ups" and "Skills you purchase" it is becoming less and less interesting. The way I'm seeing Darkfall now is just another PlanetSide, but instead of blasters and guns, you have the swords and spells. Horses are vehicles and the like. The biggest difference in actual play is the addition of dropping your 'cool gear' when you die. Now, how is this revolutionary?
Darkfall is a MMORPG with FPS/TPS combat.
I don't know why this is such a hard concept to understand for some ppl.
Where did she mention "power ups" in her review. And yes you purchase skills...just like almost every other MMO ever made.
It will only be planetside if there is no real persistant world to speak of.
Darkfall promises a very persistant world that the players evolve over a long period of time.
This pretty much covers it.
DFO is way, WAY closer to UO/AC, in fact it might as well be called UO2(which is awesome, I am not downplaying the game). I don't see how anyone could think differently. Saying DF is just another Planetside is like saying Morrowind is Counter Strike with swords.
if it tastes good, becomes popular, makes money, then yes it does. reading comprehension man. so there's already games out just like darkfall? another failed post. you seem to miss the concept of individual elements, and how their unique combinations make up different entireties. its really elemental. ahhh, but then, you have to understand elements. end of lesson. enjoy all the spare time your prodigious forum mongering allows you. i wish i had a fraction of your spare time.
Every MMO out there has some small differences from other MMOs, so by your definition, every MMO in existance is revolutionary.
So far the only point youve made is that youll vomit up a bunch of rhetoric to support a flawed argument.
Im sure you are short on time what with curing cancer and solving world hunger, Im frankly suprised you had time in your busy schedule to visit us lesser life forms on these forums.
so you are REALLy saying Darkfall only has "small differences" from average MMO? really?
looks like there's some other elementary concepts that are needing to be grasped here. the straws just aren't cutting it.
my only point is to DECONSTRUCT your flawed "argument.".
using your "logic" nothing has ever been revolutionary.
the automobile? hah! there were already wheels, conveyances and engines in existence. who does the original automobile maker think he's fooling by simply putting those things together in a working cohesive new package.
EQ? hah! there were already 3D games and UO, EQ just tacked on 3D graphics.
UO? hah! there were already massive online text games. all UO did was slap some graphics on top and called it something new.
MUDs? hah! there were already multiplayer games! they just upped the amount of players in one world.
networked games? hah! there were already games you could play. all they did was allowed more than one person to play the game at the same time. bah!
and you could say the same thing for EVERY single revolutionary thing that ever happened.
now if in your upcoming barrage of posts, you could keep all these things in mind, in one cohesive thought............. but then you'd have to be good at putting things together.

Heres why you dont make any sense. The wheel, and the engine combined made a whole new product the automobile, before that there was no automobile.
Muds? Again the first mud was exactly that, a new entity no one had ever heard of.
So by your logic, Darkfall is an entirely new entity, not an MMO, because like you said, the invention of the first automobile, and MUD were things never seen in the past.
So since youve decided that Darkfall is the very first of its kind, what are you going to call it? Obviously to fit in with the rest of your flawed and grasping logic, its a completely new entity that has never been seen before in the past.
Next time gloat AFTER youve actually proved your point. Itll save you the embarassment of everyone else seeing how glaringly irrational you are.

MUD type games existed before just not on computers so not really revolutionary by your criteria. Get a pen & paper rpg, add a computer, meh same old rehashed shit. Remember all art is theft so you could go on with that line of thought back to the stone age.
I'm not saying Darkfall is revolutionary as by my definition that isn't something that can happen until after it's been released.

Man where do they find you people.
P&P and online text based games are a pretty far jump apart.
Youve basically just said that killing someone in real life is pretty much the same thing as killing someone in a video game.

Not really as you may notice that both of the examples included some element that is a game. I far as I can tell your idea of revolutionary is that it must not include anything that uses any existing idea unless you personally think that aspect is exempt. So it boils down to if you personally think it's revolutionary it is, otherwise it isn't.

I dont think he'd understand your explanation. It would mean thinking outside of the box which most troll are unable to do.
Okay.. I look at Darkfall this way.. They are bringing in the best aspects from MMORPGS into a sandbox game.. WoW, being a theme park game as we call it, brings in all the best stuff into a theme park game..
Darkfall has Naval Combat, ok, so does Pirates of the Burning Sea.. Darkfall is 100% skill based with no levels, same goes with Ultima Online.. But Pirates of the Burning Sea has levels and isn't skill based, and Ultima Online does not have naval combat. I would love to play in a game with BOTH Naval Combat and be 100% skill based, but is there a game with both? Nope, not that I am aware of..... So this is why Darkfall wins me over. They take the best features of MMO's and put them into the ultimate sandbox MMO..

Yes, because being a bandwagoning fanboi lemming who takes everything thats said about DFO at face value is definately thinking outside the box.
Marketing execs would love people like you, advertising would be a cinch if people are chump enough to just say "Yes master, we will buy your product with no questions asked."
You are the last person that should be making glib comments about thinking outside the box.
P.S. Its people who are willing to question the mainstream who are actually thinking outside the box. If the world were filled with people like you, wed probably still think that Darwins theory of evolution was wrong.

I don't take anything said about Darkfall at face value, it might suck, it might be amazing, it might never release or I might just not ever play it. What I do like is the concept of the game from what I know of it. Anything else is an unknown.
Clearly assuming that a game will suck due to lack information rather than evidence is jumping on the bandwagon as you put it, not jumping on the bandwagon would be taking the wait and see approach. I would also not class anyone who refuses to accept the possibilty that game might have merit because it does not conform to their preconceived ideas regarding beta, marketing, features, the devs office looks like a car lot when viewed from space ect as a person who is thinking outside of the box.
Your op-inion and sadly you are showing you have not got a clue what DFO is all about. The noob reviews are targeted at a certain audience in conjunction with forumfall. You don't seem to understand this or the context in which Gianna is responding and producing the reviews. You need to read forumn content and questions as well as the reviews, then you may start to understand. But i get the impression you don't want to.
Oh I must not be within the demographic then. Of course mere mortals don't get this game at all. I feel like I need to apologise for having an SUBJECTIVE opinion... god what was I thinking! having an opinion an a discussion forum .... I retract it all ... or not.
Jesus this viewpoint is a tad elitist or what !? It must be low on oxygen up there so do be careful its a long way down.
Yeah I do find the reviews odd. why ? Lets elaborate. Because its like getting your best friend to write you an unbiased review. It just aint going ot happen. DF really needs to expose itself a little more to critcism because this just will not do. It comes across oddly sheltered so close to launch. The apologetic tone and compromising sentences. It just feels odd and almost like a big let down is coming. There are just to many features and too much pressure on this game. It feels like a introuction to asub par launch and promises of fixes and such forth later. Reconciling this insane hype with the launch.
Yeah this is an OPINION and SUBJECTIVE but the (biased) preview is not easing this fears and I will voice my OPINION. I could be wrong, partially right or very right. The 22nd will see.
Of course according to the above... I dont get this game. I barely understand anything. Must be too busy having a sex life or something...

How can you know that? I mean i wanna play this game like the next guy, but im not saying its gonna be the second coming of Batman. You know shit about this game but here you are coming here telling us the game is gonna fail.......
Im so sick and effin tired of you all coming here tellin "AWWW THIS GAME IS GONNA PWN!!!' and "THE GAME IS GONNA FAILZZZZ"....
Cant we have some sort of a constructive talk around here bout mmos, and how every single one of the new ones looks like the next, and that we finally MAYBE have an mmo that tries to do something different..
Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

Playing: EVE
and you better care

Darkfall is really just World Of Warcraft 2.

They take the best features of MMO's and put them into the ultimate sandbox MMO..
putting revlotuniary and mmorpg in the same topic is a misnomer.
Perhaps when we have VR mmo's.

I would also not class anyone who refuses to accept the possibilty that game might have merit because it does not conform to their preconceived ideas regarding beta, marketing, features, the devs office looks like a car lot when viewed from space ect as a person who is thinking outside of the box.
jeez, i just came back from forumfall and all of them are hell bent on liking the game, they only see what they want to see.
but you guys are the polar opposites, i mean cmon, this is kindof nitpicking for reasons not to like DF.
When I'm energetic I'm:
the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
When I'm at default I'm:
WHITE/BLUE
Lol according to this I'm bipolar :O
