Actually I have a job, a girlfriend and other interests and hobbies besides WAR. So, no I do not play the game all the time. I do however visit the forums of the games I DO ACTUALLY PLAY, in order to keep up on the latest news, developments and what my fellow gamers are experiencing in the game, as well as to discuss the GAME I ACTUALLY PLAY and perhaps meet other players and find a guild or people to party with. You see, thats the point, I PLAY WAR, this is the WAR FORUMS, I play WAR and spend time on the WAR forums...is this starting to make any sense to you ?
And the forums of WAR (a game you dont play) are apparently "funner" then any games you are playing (according to your logic). Which only proves how ignorant you are to try and say the WAR forums are more fun for me than actually playing WAR -- I mean the WAR forums would then be "funner" for you then the games you would be playing....ummm, yes ?

People really need to read the FAQ before they start trying to extrapolate sub numbers from Waralytics.
As mentioned, it doesn't even show subs. It only shows GUILDED CHARACTERS. It's massively inaccurate as far as actual amount of characters too, as in the lower tiers, where the vast majority of characters exist, a very large number of characters are unguilded.
In addition, it's not even including data from all servers and not all guilds, either.
All we can really say is that there's over 1 million characters who are in guilds. If it was the same account who had the million characters, or if there's 252141553453535343621364624335351254 non-guilded characters, we would not be able to see.

well, let me just start by saying nowhere did I make any assumptions about anyone. I merely responded to someones statement that I am here on the forums and not playing WAR. In response to that, I explained there are alot of things I do besides play WAR...Now tell me, where do you get that I assumed anything about anyone else with what I said ? I actually liked war more than wow. Anyway I was playing on one of the top populated servers (Eltharion - 15th) mentioned on the list and I consider it half-dead. Waiting for scenario is like 5-20mins (usually ~10mins). People from the guild were so bored that everyone was rolling an alt. I had 6 chars on this server, 5 on another and couple more on the destro side and some to just keep names - just in case and class testing.
1mln chars is so below my expectation (I thought it would have at least twice as much).

True enough. Although if you consider teh time frame, when SOE was the big dog on the block and the standard that WoW is now, then and only then can you savor the true flavor and subtilties that were indended to come through in that very under stated comment,
We need more successful MMOs, WoW can't be the only huge huge success. War didn't do it for me, I had high high hopes but it failed in a few ways, but it's great there are 1 mil created characters, nothing wrong there.
Wait...WAR only has 1 million characters created? I don't know but that doesn't sound good to me. I know with my account, I had anywhere from 15-25 characters dispersed across multiple servers. And some of the servers listed were cloned.
I don't think I'm the only person who made a ton of characters.

Also, to answer your question, again as I'm sure I have answered it countless times already, it seems I'm rather peculiar that way. I can actually play *and* browse the forums at the same time. I must be blessed, I didn't know this was such a hard thing to do yet I've been doing it ever since the Daoc days brought me to the Vnboards.

There was nobody online back when I played, and that site you posted showed nearly 700k toons created. So in the last 2 months, only 300k toons have been created compared to the 700k in the first 2 months, therefore there are even less people playing now.

The thingy is that this site tracks guilded characters only, if I'm not mistaken... And a lot of ambitious guilds do not allow alts, or just a very small number of them... (due to fuzzy and pretty much unknown way guild xp is calculated) so I'd imagine that the total number of players could be 1/2 of the number listed. But it's just a wild guess - like everything else really until we get some kind of official info.
*UPDATED* Where does the data come from? Data is pulled from Mythic's Warhammer RealmWar pages (http://realmwar.warhammeronline.com) as well as WarDB (http://www.wardb.com). The site cross-references each guild to ensure it is using the most up to date information as possible. Mythic's RealmWar site still does not show data for many servers and guilds, and until they fix it there will still be inconsistencies.
What characters are counted? These statistics are drawn only from GUILDED players. From my observation, there is <5% error for tier 3 and tier 4 data, but lower tiers, especially tier 1 are more inaccurate due to the large number of unguilded characters.
My server is missing, where is it? The data is pulled from the herald, and currently the herald is not tracking all servers it seems. When Mythic fixes their problem and starts tracking all of the game servers, this site will begin tracking it. It appears that all of the "cloned" servers are not yet tracked by the herald.
*NEW* My guild is missing/out of date, what can I do? There are still many guilds that are not being regularly updated by the herald. If you would like to have the most recent data for your guild used, you should consider running the Curse Client available from WarDB: (http://www.wardb.com/client.aspx). Running their client will cause your guild's data to be added to the WarDB site, and when Waralytics updates it will use the new information.
*UPDATED* The counts for my guild/server are wrong. The data is pulled from the herald, which right now is spaztic in its updating of guild information. As a whole the data is generally accurate, but until Mythic improves the herald, it won't be perfect. See the previous FAQ question for information about running the Curse Client.
1. The one million number is only guilded characters. In my case, only 2 of my 8 characters are guilded.
2. The numbers do not show data for "many servers and guilds" because the Mythics RealmWar site doesn't have data for them yet.
3. Some of the guild stats are out of date. In my case, Waralytics shows my clan as having 4 characters less than we actually have at the moment.
The bottom line is that 1m characters is only a small subset of the total number of characters created since the game went live. Its the number of characters reported by the Mythic RealmWar site or those players using the curse client. I don't know if that means only actively played characters or not.
I'am still playing and plan to do so for years to come. If I had an option for lifetime account like in LotRO I would buy it in a second. This is by far the best mmorpg I played, ever.
For those of you who played many mmorpgs you will know what I mean by this - Just the fact that Mythic has a huge team working on the patches makes a HUGE difference. I can't stress this enough. You play other games and they get better from month to month or even slower, Warhammer is getting better BY THE WEEK - And you nkow what ? It doesn't even have to : no big problems, no huge issues, they just perfect everything that is in it and polish it. This is a great thing they have going here and they really should get more credit for it.
On our server the starting areas are full of new players, Tier 2 not so much and the older players are in tier 3 and 4 now. I don;t know how many people are playing it right now but from what I see it;s much more than 800k subs at this point - Just by judging by the number of new people joining the game.
Well I don't hate War, nor do I love it. I have about 8 chars across different servers. I got the game the first month it came out and was HUGELY dissapointed. I expected so much more, and so many more players. So no re-subbing for me. I'd like this game to get better, but untill then they're not having any more money off me. They robbed me of £30 from the start.

3. Some of the guild stats are out of date. In my case, Waralytics shows my clan as having 4 characters less than we actually have at the moment.
The bottom line is that 1m characters is only a small subset of the total number of characters created since the game went live. Its the number of characters reported by the Mythic RealmWar site or those players using the curse client. I don't know if that means only actively played characters or not.
Since it doesn't mention that anywhere and people already mentioned guilds being in there that aren't even around anymore today, probably not.
That said, it is guilded characters. There's just no way to pull anything meaningful out of it to guess real sub numbers unfortunately.
All the WAR haters can thank me later...but this one needs a bump. I would hate for all of them to lose their most favoritest thing in the world !!

I'am still playing and plan to do so for years to come. If I had an option for lifetime account like in LotRO I would buy it in a second. This is by far the best mmorpg I played, ever.
For those of you who played many mmorpgs you will know what I mean by this - Just the fact that Mythic has a huge team working on the patches makes a HUGE difference. I can't stress this enough. You play other games and they get better from month to month or even slower, Warhammer is getting better BY THE WEEK - And you nkow what ? It doesn't even have to : no big problems, no huge issues, they just perfect everything that is in it and polish it. This is a great thing they have going here and they really should get more credit for it.
On our server the starting areas are full of new players, Tier 2 not so much and the older players are in tier 3 and 4 now. I don;t know how many people are playing it right now but from what I see it;s much more than 800k subs at this point - Just by judging by the number of new people joining the game.

Well I don't hate War, nor do I love it. I have about 8 chars across different servers. I got the game the first month it came out and was HUGELY dissapointed. I expected so much more, and so many more players.
So no re-subbing for me. I'd like this game to get better, but untill then they're not having any more money off me. They robbed me of £30 from the start. 
I don't understand why you need to have such an annoying approach to get your point across though.
