Yeah I know its funny isnt it. Every now and again we see some weak post popping up trying to convince everyone that despite its lack of popularity WAR is in fact a great game. We saw all of these posts for Vanguard too in which everyone said how good it was and how it was a shame that not many people were playing it.

And then of course they naturally turn to WoW and blame it for the lack of success for these other boring mmos, completely failing to realise that until a game does something new then people will always continue to play WoW. I'm not even a big fan of WoW and yet even I have turned to playing it recently because it offers everything all the other games do except it does it all better. Yeah sure its a pretty dull game but the sad fact is that its still better than all the competition......and yeah that includes shitty old Warhammer Online which is just a pale clone of WoW. Deny it all you like.

People will continue to play WoW in favour of everything else until something decent comes along and so far there isnt anything else worth playing. Its as simple as that. Its not because people are "stupid" or "cannot break free from whats comfortable". Its simply because they are sticking with the better product. Its not rocket science.

The WAR forums are certainly popular enough for people like you.

Thats because the forums provide better entertainment than the game and I dont have to pay for it

So, what game are you playing ?  Because apparently the WAR forums are far more entertaining than that as well.

Oh that old chestnut again. Its the bog standard "Oh well YOUR game obviously isnt fun if you can spare the time to come onto these forums" retort. That does obviously apply to you of course.....more so in fact because you are saying that you really enjoy WAR and yet you keep coming here instead......so clearly by your own stupid logic (or lack of it) these forums are more enjoyable for you than playing the actual game.

Oh and for your information I have drifted back to WoW for a while, not because its good but because its sadly the best of teh bunch. I cant see myself stomaching it for much longer though, partly due to the mentality of the players I keep meeting and partly because of the kiddie nature of the game. Its still better than WAR though.

WAR is a good game, but its not for everyone.

WoW is a good game, but it its not for everyone, even if it has more for it than WAR.

Keep talking WAR up, it deserves the publicity; but don't talk WoW down. I don't like WoW, but respect for somethings right to be is something we all need to practice little more.

Yeah, because it's not like Tyvolus1 would EVER go to a forum of a game he wasn't currently playing and bash it, because WAR is SO much fun, he'd rather be playing WAR than anything else in the world.

Posted by Tyvolus1 on World of Warcraft forums: I am currently playing 2 MMOs. WAR and EQ2. If I had the time I would play a 3rd and that would be Lineage 2. I started playing MMOs in '99. I did have fun for a time in wow, but have no desire to pick it up again, ever. The mindless gear and faction grind is in a word insulting, not to mention boring. The classes cookie-cutter. I hate raids. Also, I started playing warcraft games in '95 and I believe that for the sake of a quick buck blizzard has sold out the lore and history of their own franchise. Paladins on the Horde ? Alliance Death Knights ? This is a game for the kiddies.

Posted by Tyvolus1 on DARKFALL forums: I think DF has to first come out and deliver on some of its promises before WAR or any other game has anything to worry about. Either way, this long development fiasco will come to an end in just a few short weeks as the big release date is fast approaching.

Posted by Tyvolus1 on DARKFALL forums: I have been playing MMOs for almost 10 years now, and having followed DnL and DF when they both first, waaaayyyy back, very first, popped up and all I can say is you hit the nail on the head. Now, DF may prove your theory wrong(I doubt it will), but as of right now, you are spot on...In fact, I am still not convinced this game will ever come out. I wouldnt even give it a50-50 chance.

Doh.. that IS Tyvolus. In the words of the immortal Church Lady from SNL:

    "Neeeeeeeeeeeeever mind".

I honestly like WoW for what it was while i played it an i've played it almost 4 years until Dec.  I think many people on this forum give WoW a harder time then they should. Consumers speak with money if they are playing one game over another it is a better fit for them. But on this site, where WoW is the devil:  breeding hate filled, l33t speaking pre- pubiscent demon spawns that flood the last great bastion of hope "the mmo" only to ruin developers original vision of there beloved game for their own profit and humor i think many lose sight of what WoW is.

Its a part of pop culture not so different then pepsi free  from the 80's or crystal pepsi from the 90's (if that's too old of a reference see monster energy drinks) that caught on at the right place at the right time. Through heavy pop culture advertising (ozzy, Sapranos guy, Shatner, Toyota etc etc) has managed to grow and stay ahead of the game.  Much like Michael Jackson the only thing that is going to kill WoW...is WoW.

But to think that WoW numbers somehow translate into a huge market is WRONG. The market has grown thanks to WoW and War and other titles but not to the magnitude many think. WoW is a fad and for a good many of the boasted 11 million players WoW litterally is the end all be all. Meaning when they are done with wow they wont come to this site or any similar site to discuss it...they will log off and thats that. They won't research the next game because there is no next game.  Someone mentioned 400k numbers prior to WoW being the big thing which actually seems high to me but that's fine. What do you think you have now in MMO players? 900k? People that will actually continue to play other mmo's beyond WoW?

The point is get used to those numbers around you and take it for what it is. They speak volumes about what you are going to see going forward. For me I think its fantastic. In smaller communities peoples names get remembered both good and bad. The ass hat anonymity fad of WoW is what really needs to be removed. I don't care if you bench 350, date a model and own four houses while on the internet... but being accountable for being a complete jack needs to come back. In smaller games if you are a tool, Better re-roll because the groups know who you are.

I wouldn't admit this TOO much. It's supposed to be War "all the time and everywhere", not random encounters. This is not a selling point when pushing Warhammer. You may want to rethink these type of endorsements.

the fact WAR has random encounter PVP, RVR, scenarios, roaming warbands, sieges, etc etc  is not a seliing point ?

You take something I said and quote it and spin it and take it out of context and try and make it look like something it wasnt.  The fact you only quote one sentence and leave out the rest of what I said and also neglect to mention it was in regards to proving a point that WAR, just like wow (or any other PVP mmo) has random encounter PVP as well as all the other PVP it offers is not a negative.    -- Since you played WAR, you know it is a pvp game, with open rvr servers and many different types of pvp available to its players.  My post was a reply to a specific point someone made about wow random encounter pvp -- follow the chain of posts and it is clear you are intentionally selecting one sentence of my reply to someone and trying to mislead people here.

So dont try and make it look like the pvp in WAR is random encounters and dont try and make it look like I said that is all the pvp it offers.  We all know you are a silly boy and try to grasp at straws to make a point, but when you make posts like this it just smells of pure desperation.

I know you were on saying you were waiting on DF recently --  Lets talk about that -- It comes out the 22nd right ?  How are you going to buy it, will Best Buy be selling it ?

Again, accusing someone of "spinning" quotes you actually say. Amazing.

Let me try to put them together, so you can have perspective. First you say this to someone who talks about random encounters in Wow:

Originally posted by Tyvolus1 YOur friends can harp on random encounters all they want in wow -- they exist in WAR too.

    And now you say:

Originally posted by Tyvolus1 So dont try and make it look like the pvp in WAR is random encounters and dont try and make it look like I said that is all the pvp it offers.

When I said this (Regarding YOUR quote about RANDOM encounters in WAR):

My reply to the OP would be...

Why does anyone not wanting to move/stay in WAR have to be from WoW?

Most of the people who aren't happy that I know.. are from DAoC.

Then again I never was much into WoW so maybe that's why?  Since I don't really have a background there.

It just seems odd that the perception for any MMO that isn't doing as well as it could be.. Is that everyone plays WoW and why bother moving.

WAR imho once I got into closed beta had put its self in a very odd place.  It wasn't enough like DAoC to appeal to that crowd (my opinion) and it wasn't WoW+ (WoW but better on every level) to appeal to that crowd.

Now I don't like WoW much so I never cared if it appealed to that crowd.. but it was hard to believe Mythic and/or EA would run DAoC that long (say years) after WAR launched.  So it seemed that they would give their installed user base the next big thing to move onto.

Of course WAR is still young but I think how your game starts is a pretty good indication of where its going to be or how its going to do.

I just often wonder what the actual concept for the development direction was...

Like I said these are just my opinions.. other peoples will vary.. and that is how it should be.

As an avid MMO player for the last dozen or so years, I toddled through Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, Nexus TK (yuck), and finally I found DAoC when it was released. What an amazing game to keep me fascinated right up through the Catacombs expansion. With the one exception of experimenting with FFXI and catching the equivalent of MMO herpes, I stayed with DAoC for years.

Then I moved onto WoW for a change. Playing a lock from release, I already felt like Blizzard had it out for me personally. Then in general, it felt like Blizzard's goal in life was making cash. I lamented lost Mythic, and the weekly grab bags on the Camelot Herald. I went through months of on again, off again gaming for years.

When WAR appeared, I felt like light had entered my life once again. I waited patiently through the delays, and bought the pre-release, having nothing short of absolute faith that this would culminate in the end of my days as a productive citizen of the world. I made my sorcerer, and powered through right up to 40 as one of the first Ostermarkers to hit the level cap. With ultimate power at my fingertips, it only made sense to..... wait a week for the Order players to get into Tier 4, but then it made sense to lay waste!

Except that bright wizards were a natural catastrophe unto themselves. Ten years of MMO and PvP experience, and using all my tricks, I still had to run from those pricks like a little girl in my dress, lest they set it on fire.

Mistakes happen, right? Mythic would fix it, right? They always loved me before.

Nope, one of the first round of changes is a nerf to Sorcs. A necessary one (the knockback of infinite spam) -- but I think the fire rapists could have been brought a little more in line. When Mythic announced that they were happy with them as they were, it was the final straw for me; if I'm going to pay $15 or whatever a month to get crapped on by a company, I would rather it be Blizzard because at least then, I say I get the most crap for my money and at least it's by someone I had no real respect for from the getgo.

I don't know how things are in WAR now, but Mythic dropped the ball at the absolute worst possible time; and now the world -- the bitter, disillusioned souls such as myself, suffer for it as I level my WoW mage because Blizzard has chosen to hate locks once again.

I wouldnt hold your breath if I were you on seeing me in DF.  It would have to come out and as I said, be very well received for me to EVER consider buying it.  I was VERY clear on my stance on DF, but once again you speak in half-truths and fail to mention the point I was making regarding the game.  You know, the part where I say I dont think it is ever coming out, its been in development for far too long and that there are alot of IFS surronding it and then I finished by saying  that IF it did come out and was great, sure I would strongly consider giving it a go as I prefer pvp MMOs.

But, as far as I know there isnt any way the public can even buy the game yet -- it comes out in what 10 days or so ?  Regardless, you were the one running your mouth on here in one breath being critical of WAR and in the next boasting on how you were waiting on DF.  Have fun, it comes out soon !

You should try winning an argument one time, just one time without being deceptive and misleading.  But hey, when you arent a very witty person you have to fight dirty.  its ok, poopinjay, your secrets are safe with me.

I really should stop accusing Warhammer fans of seeing what they want to see despite all evidence of things showing otherwise and jumping to conclusions, because they clealy don't do that at all.

Whatever. You won, 50-cent warrior man (look it up, tho I know you're probably familiar with the term). I won't be visiting this site anymore. Frankly life is too short and potentially sweet to be wasted on "WoW is the BMW" discussions. To each his own.

Whatever man. Whatever. Enjoy, live long and prosper. But first and foremost enjoy.

    Apology accepted. :)

Vaya con dios, and good luck on the WarhammerAlliance.com boards!

and good luck to you playing DarkFall.  You once posted how it is one of the games you were waiting on.  Enjoy it !!

If you mean Markaraos, he won't see this cause he said he's gone.

If you mean me, yep. I will try Darkfall if when/if release it to NA. I believe YOU even said you were waiting for it before as well in one of your posts so...

    see you in Darkfall!

That is silly you said Darkfall first. He just was responding to you. You want him to respond to your post about Darkfall to tell him to no make posts about Darkfall?

You two just fight back and forth back and forth just since he said somthing about a Disney woman. Silly.

Now I can see why Warhammer has such a loyal base. You people just fail at basic reading in a thread mostly.

Read the thread. And lets let this nonsense die. I never called anyone a "Disney Woman," that was someone else. Tyvolus brought up "Darkfall" as a distraction. I am trying to discuss the actual thread and its like Hamas in up in here hijacking the topic.

Kieth, if you really care.. go back and READ the thread. Otherwise stop posting. You are making the same mistake Markaraos made... jumping to friggin conclusions without careful reading.

Lol, did Markoroas just complain this is a "WoW is a BMW" discussion there when the opening thread actually started with a  "WAR is a BMW" remark? :)

I honestly dunno what he was thinking.

He just hauled off and accused me of calling him/her a "Disney Woman" when someone else clearly said it in the thread, said something about BMWs, then when I mention and show him the actual originated quote, his response was basically..

"Whatever. Life's too short to argue. You win, I'm leaving this site and never coming back." To paraphrase Scooby Doo... "Rut's rong??"

I never thought it a big deal to say "sorry mate, I thought you said that about me. I apologize." I don't think it necessary to leave a site in shame just because you got proved incorrect on something. That's happened to me a couple times... people make mistakes every day.

I never knew you could actually comment on topics such as the OPs with your opinion and/or facts backing them and have insults as standard fare. I mean, mix the insults in WITH the opinion, then somewhat better. But just trying to hijack threads is plain wrong just because you don't like the way the discussions are going. But that's the usual in Warhammer threads, which always makes it fun to post here for me.

It's never "Gee, I wonder what new arguments they will bolster to show/prove "War is AMAZING." It's "Gee, wonder which insult they'll rehash today." (troll? Wowboy? Blizzard plant?) lol

Could you please go back to the WarhammerAlliance forums now?

WAR is just a clone of WoW but failed in every way possible.  Bad UI, combat, balance, craft, lag, crashes, pve, gfx, itemization.  There is not 1 thing that stands out better than older MMO.
