i think with the hype this post has generated and the general enthusiasm for the game from everyone who has looked at it that it should have its own forum on this site by now that way we could really get into discussions about it without having to trawl through 15 pages of text. anyone else agree?
So, I said this game was holding my interest and was pretty fun. I was wrong. It's AMAZING. I had yet to run a Dungeon until last night, and let me tell you, from the large amount of exquisately scripted monsters to the interesting puzzles to the diverse epic loot (way more interesting than just a better piece of equipment) this dungeon had it all. It took a few hours with 6 of us. One of the best aspects, was the FFA PvP enabled. Don't worry, AoE spells weren't a problem, but you could accidently target a friend if you clicked wrong. More importantly, it means other parties could come in, kill you, and take the dungeon for themselves. Currently, everybody's friendly and works together, so that wasn't a problem. Anyway, just adding to the hype!
Edit: LOL. I guess that's you, Border? Didn't notice you had described the exact same Dungeon! This is Afromor!
UPDATE: Our plan to open Beta "as needed" worked great for the first 2-3 weeks, but due to the sudden and unexpectedly huge response over the past week things have changed. We have had to go from opening beta for hours at a time, to minutes at a time. As a result we may soon be going to an application format.
Some hardware problems have required us to scale back the test accounts a bit as well. We will be replacing servers next week to deal with that. Thanks to everyone for your patience and interest!
This just goes to show that there are alot of ppl interested in an old school MMO.
Nice to see so many positive views of the game so far from the limited amount of testers.
I don't think I'l try getting into the testing phase as it would seem it will be more luck than anything else to get in, so I'l sit back and wait for a release date.

hey afromor! haha yea that was a really fun run, even if i lost every single roll to shade by one
Game looks great , reminds me of UO except a more updated version. While the graphics look a little old school the style looks great and that's all that's really important.
Haha, I like their updated. Fourteen pages of posts here wouldn't have anything to do with it.

My gosh he won a LOT of rolls! Next dungeon run, I want to discuss a "One Win Per Person" rule UNLESS everybody's already won something. That's how I've always played it in any game.

yeah but Ike won the 175 pot which is the ultimate.
I'm hearing alot about this game. Is it really that good? Hows the pvp? how good are the dungeons? is it skill/stat based? Does it have player housing, player cities? are the controls similar to old UO? Let me know guys, im a sandbox freak.

I haven't been in any PvP yet, not a whole lot of people at the moment. But you can loot people, if that is what you are looking for, and you PvP in areas marked for it.
The dungeons are dungeons I supose, you can PvP in them, so you have to watch who you hit, other than that everything you expect in your average dungeon.
It is skill based, increasing skills raises your attributes, skills are limited by group, like combat or magic, so you can only have X amount of skill points per group, but other than that no limit.
You can have your own realm, which is a plot of land that you can build whatever on, so if you want to have a house you can or if you want to make a dungeon you can too and you pick if you want your realm to be PvP enabled or not, no cities though, well not like SWG at least.
As best as I can remember the controls are a lot like UO, movement is Diablo esque though.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
The dungeons in this game is actually much better then any other for me because they are non-instanced, no need to explicitly define parties, FFA element meaning no senseless zerging, and so forth.
You kinda want a Tanker type up on the boss while the others go for what they know.
On my last dungeon visit we had no designated healer since everyone can self heal via potions, etc. Although hopefully at somepoint this aspect will get more organized I suspect. Right now what I see is a lot of folks spamming pots to stay alive til they run out hehe
One thing that is cool even though the game is skill-based, you can still look around at the party members and tell whose gonna be firing off rockets or meleeing. Although people can still hybrid all they want or carry multiple gear sets.
PVE is pretty cool since there is no worry of XP being cut in half etc if you see a noob in trouble feel free to toss a fire bolt while running along your merry way to kill their oppressor
Granted- I'm sure games like WoW etc may have wayyy more content for dungeons but I'm saying I believe this game has superior elements and raw design
PVP
I think there will be good possibilities for some PVP action. Players can build their own realms and define whether they are PVP enabled. And you can possibly build your realm in the way of travelers destination to a place. albeit- all they have to do is make it across your gank zone once to possibly mark their map (assuming they are a Master Sorceror with Teleport)
I think hotkeys will be essential. I got all my favorites mapped. And tank maging is gonna be funny. so put on some cloth, trick pirates into thinking you just a weak mage. but under yer robes you can have on armor
I've really on seen 1 player get PKed though. I picked through his loot and didnt see anythin' wporth taking and he was just a noob anyway. People just sort of goof around for fun atm- dont think I've seen a mass murderor emerge in our Garden of Eden yet
One thing I'm not sure about though is how Teleport will play into things. Don't think there is any interrupt spells. So not sure how you could keep a Master Sorceror (Rank 30 -- can tele to any location marked on his map) around long enough to murder him. But if you do- you can screw him over bad and take away his marked maps.
I guess i cannot try this game out ,as they are not accepting any applications right now.I did D/l the editor or whatever i got i don't know yet,but i will open it up soon enough. The mechanics sound VERY good, but the videos i saw are sort of old school console games.I am still willing to try it out as i have a little spare time to wander around something cool to play even if it is a throwback in graphics.
I still pop in Warsong/Wizardry and RTTK once in a while,so it is not always about graphics for me.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
If you find that beta is "closed," check back again later, they keep making more room.
I'm playing it, and having a BALL for the first time really in ages! Crazy huh? I stumbled on this last night, and don't think I'll be putting it down for a good long while. This is sandbox of the past, made relevant to the present, and lots of FUN.
If you're an ex UO player or just a lover of a good...very good...sandbox games....you might really like this!
This is the post that has made me pissed that I couldn't get in recently, and also why I am psyched about finally playing tonight.

i do, was just thinking that myself

I don't like isometric view for MMOs. I can't get iimmersed and feel like I am the character. I need first person or third person view.
You do realize that an Isometric viewpoint IS a third person viewpoint, right?
Well I mean 3rd person "over the shoulder" view. If there is a specific term for that please let me know.
