Nope you are lying. I just re-signed. I then cancelled right away. I have 10 free days and was not charged.
I agree, my bank says nothing about me being charged by Mythic for WAR. And to say, I un subbed in december, and just resubbed with the 10 days. So I wasn't a current sub when this happened. I have not been charged yet, even without clicking the cancel sub button. Because I might subscribe still. When the time comes closer to the 10 days being over, I'll have the answer for my resub. But that's off the topic.

I am not lying but I am also not saying its not a bug and it was a bug when I contacted billing.
I certainly won't be going back as they have done nothing to fix the problems that caused me and most others to leave. I won't go into the list of things they need to change because it's all been said a thousand times over the last few months.
It would require pretty much a huge rewrite of most of the game before I return. Too much lacking.
Too much lacking compared to what? About the only thing that WAR isn't 100% on yet is PvE. Their pvp and rvr system is a lot more balanced and accessible than any other game out there besides maybe their parent game, DAoC.

I don't think he said compared to anything, which is the point. You don't always have to compare one game against another game, which is usually the argument when some find one game lacking in one thing or another. ("Why do they compare WAR to WoW??? It's unfair!")
He said it was lacking. Which means just that, he didn't say compared to DAoC or anything because he obviously wasn't comparing it to anything. A much better question from you would have been "What did you find lacking?" not "Compared to what (game), what was lacking?"
I don't know why you are inviting open comparisons from posters between WAR and something else (usually WoW), because with your argument that is what you are doing by asking that, when it could be just as stated.

Sure perhaps during the beta and as it was being created but not the final product. It wouldn't be surprising if that was the case. I doubt those at SOE or other companies play their own games. I even question how many of the devs actually play the the games they create to really understand what their customers are experiencing.

It's a lose lose situation, to be fair. If he speaks things as it is; people will jump on him for not having faith in his product. If he bullshits (like he is now), people will call him a spinning douche, if he stays silent; people will whine about LACK OF COMMUNICATION.
The only thing that matters to me are the results; or in this case, the lack of results and meaningful change.
Im not going to make a new account only to get 10 free days and be limited only to tier 1....You can basically get past level 10 in a few hours of doing scenarios...
Is this true? I thought the whole billing cycle resets back to normal after the initial 10 days, and that you're free to cancel before then with no charge?
Looks like you're going to have a nice surprise in a few days, Night^^
Yeah, and go check out the fine print carefully. You do realize that Mark Jacobs is an actual lawyer, right?
People really do blow my mind with stupidity. You should take your own advice, and go back and read the fine print carefully, read the FAQ while you're at it. You resub, then you get the 10 free days right away, after those 10 days, if you continue to play, you will be billed. The idiocy of some people amaze me.
PVE is to weak in WAR to ever intrest me in coming back. Dawn of war has stronger AI than WAR... So put it mildly ... No - Im never going back. Never.
LOL people like you amaze me. Are you stupid? If you want PVE then go to a PVE game. The game is not ment for, balanced around, or claimed to be, a PVE game. What PVE game actully does have good AI? None I can tihnk of, cause once you beat them, they can always be beaten the same way. Idiot.

Nice to see you are able to write an answer that isn't just namecalling....
Here is the thing... WAR is not a good RVR game. Why ? I name you few reasons
1. The servers can't handle it so far
2. The design of the ORVR is not strong - End battles involving a small room with op to 100 ppl (and now number restrictions) is not good idea in any MMO game. Not for the server. Not for the client side. And the sad thing. Its always the same. All RVR content is exactly like this. So talk about PVE content you can beat the same way over and over... exactly the same is a fact in RVR. And this is because of ...
3. Faction balance. Need I say more ? Why bother playing content - or creating content that in the end turns each server into one faction dominating and winning all the time ? Or maybe some ppl are so stupid to keep paying for loosing against 10 times the numbers of the other faction and watch them improve skill and gear - while you stand up with less than nothing. And still paying for it.
Really...
These are the bad sides of RVR. You are welcome to disagree but this is what most ppl have realised so far and is also the reason why alot of ppl gave up on the game. Cause RVR has failed in many ways. Not for all - but for many. And still Mythic sees it as the only way to build the game up. Well... the thing is... they have to. Or they loose the rest of the subs.
My point from day one of playing WAR from beta is that the game has ENDLESS possibilites to build strong PVE content. Sadly the RVR part of the game is taking 90% of the PVE experience away. This includes graphics where Mythic has stripped the game of pretty much everything in the visual department to support RVR.
THe sad part of this all is that Mythic sits on a goldmine of endless possibilites for PVE content. They have the most advanced graphical engine out there - making unique looking monsters. Maybe RVR ppl dont understand this but I loved the fact that when I was fighting monsters they did not all look exaclty the same -even if they had the same name over their heads. You coulndn't understant that anway.
Secondly - If Mythic is REALLY armed with the biggest developer group of all MMOs... then they have the manpower to improve and add more content for OTHER ways of playing the game. They simply are not. Hence.. every single PVE person that was playing has now left. Maybe because the obsession with the broken RVR is obviously gonna need huge amount of work to ever work - not to mention the faction balance problems.
The game also has the basic archtypes of classes to support much stronger AI than what Mythic is currently offering. Im sorry but simple things that more experienced PVE developers would not failed in have gone through alpha, beta and are now live - without Myhthic ever asking one single person if it was even worht doing. Im sorry but its really bad PVE content when you can pull one mob that is standing OVER another mob but still he is not pulled too. Thats not just bad. That is terrible.
Yes... the main reason why I dont play WAR is because poor PVE content. You can call me idiot all you like. But as I see it - Mythic are the biggest idiots of them all. For not realising and not working on improving a part of their game that really can become massive if they spent some time on it. It would not need to destroy RVR. But it would put RVR into proper perspective. It should only be one part of the game. The game simply does not have strong enough technical or tactical cabability to only stand on RVR. The basic game system is way to weak to support such a gamestyle. More and more will realise this in time.
I think WAR's biggest problem is that people expected too much from it........I went into WAR with no expectations and I have alot of fun when I play, and I was not a fan of PVP before I tried it.........I am not a player that puts all emphasis on end game......IF the journey is fun then I am happy........
Me and the few left from my guild hung around long enough till mid January till we finally threw the towel in the ring and gave up.
Nothing has changed since then, nor will anything substantial change in the near or longterm future.
So NO! nor me, nor my gf, nor any of my friends will ever return.
The whole design of the game is flawed at it's very CORE. They will never be able to fix that, without completely redeveloping the game. Never gonna happen!
I just left myself ,the game is ok, its fun for about a month or two and then it s just repeative. I felt I had some fun with it but it isnt a long term game for me. To me the overall design of the game world was flawed and thats whats driving off players. I have no desire to ever go back.
I downloaded and started the trial back on Sunday, but so far I haven't been able to launch the game- the client download kept getting incompleted over the first couple days and finally I got the whole thing downloaded, but when I launch the game it imediately closes back to desktop with no explanation to why. So I'm basically wasting my 10 day trial.
I've looked everywhere and no answer was found about why, I tried this on both my PCs (one is Vista 64bit and one is XP SP2 32bit).
I lasted about a week, which is a bit longer than the usual!
Honestly, I cannot begin to fathom how people can even pay for this.
When you start at level 1 in Tier 1, and then progress to Tier 2... Thats it. This is everything the game offers. The game doesn't gently increase in mechanics as you go along, that's all there is to it. An MMORPG with no replay value; outstanding.
I don't know what's more laughable, the "Mythic Seconds", the unskilled dev team, or the entire game building up to a siege that's just the same three POORLY made public quests looping over and over again. With little capacity for strategy and a shoddy engine, this is by far, one of the worst MMORPGs I've ever played.
I must be missing something. Here's what it says in the announcement:
Please note that returning players will need to reactivate their accounts and update their billing information when they re-enlist. No purchase is required for the 10 free days, which begins upon reactivation. You may cancel at any time during your free play, after which the normal billing cycle will begin.
That actually seems to say teh exact opposite of what you're saying.
Hope that clears things up for you.
How do I reactivate my account?
To reactive your account, you must visit the Account Center to update your billing information.
Why do I need to enter in my credit card?
A credit card is required for verification and billing purposes. If you are concerned about recurring billing charges, please visit the Account Center to cancel your account before your gift of 10 free days of game time expires.
When do my ten free days begin?
Your free ten days of game time will begin the moment you reactivate your account.
It looks like according to the WAR faq page, that you provide your credit card info to re-activate.
Then you have to cancel your account before your ten days expire. If you do NOT cancel before the ten days are up, they are charging you with the credit card you gave. Is that how you read this, Stradden?
Because they say "recurring" charges, so I figured if you didn't have an ACTIVE account already, they'd charge you first for one month, then give you ten "free" days. Then if you didn't cancel, you'd get RECURRING charges each month.
I don't think they are as clear as they should be if that's the case. Confusing to say the least either way.
You never played the DAoC free trial, did you?
Put in CC info to validate account.
Play as long as you want (within the 14 day time span).
If you don't want to be charged, CANCEL your "subscription" BEFORE the 14 days or up, or you will get charged for a month.
If you're not attentive enough to realize when your trial/10 free days ends and you get charged, it's your fault.

Kind of lame requiring timecard people like me to put in a cc so I can return to their game. Sigh.

Dude......Even commander Keen has more AI than WAR (Or any MMO for that matter) out there.
But I agree about the PvE side. Luckilly, its an RvR game .
