I have been playing Darkfall for a couple weeks and cant log off I haven't enjoyed playing a game this much for years.
World: DFO has an open world that is more impressive then any game on the market rite now. It is enormous and unique in every area. Every clan city and hamlet is unique no cookie cutter stuff that we are used to. Guild cities have utility this is also unique it has a bank and a clan stone which allows your guild to center their operations in the same area.
PvP: Honestly I could never go back to a tab+macro+dont look at your monitor and continue eating cheetos type of game. Its like half FPS half mmo strategy. Also the physics are amazing how when you shoot an arrow at someone you have to compensate for distance and aim higher. Also this is the first game where you brought back the risk vs reward element of play. PvP victories actually mean something again. I mean I wont lie and say that I dont cuss out my computer when I loose and the person above me tells me I suck while looting all my stuff nothing sucks more then that but again I cant go back to meaningless PvP.
Crafting/Pve: I hate both crafting and PvE. But crafting is actually easy enough that I can handle it I am a bower so this helps me in easily providing unlimited arrows for myself. Mobs can be very tricky to kill but again they put an end to the kill spider rest walk 20 feet kill another spider I will never play a game like that again.
Darkfalls release has been fairly good that is if you can actually buy the game. In my experience the servers have been stable there have been a few instances where for some reason all the mobs disappear but then they reboot the servers and they are back. Also I have not seen widespread hacking. The only thing I saw once was someone speed hacking and I reported them.
I am not a fanboy I am just some guy who enjoys MMO's if you want to come find me and take my gear for having an honest outlook on this game my name is Aquitis and I live at the Apollo Hamlet.

Nice review man. I can't wait to get a copy of dfo my self.
I think it's great that you're enjoying yourself. Fun is what it's all about. That being said, I found myself questioning your post when I read "Darkfalls release has been fairly good that is if you can actually buy the game.":
So, I'm happy that you like the game, but the release wasn't good at all.
~Ripper
Ripper,
Releasing on time: I am a US player and there hasn't been a US release yet so I have chosen to play on a EU server reluctantly to play with my guild. I didn't really take DF seriously because I found out it was a foreign developer and had no intention to play until it got such good reviews on my guild website.
Billing and Account issues: I am in a guild of about 100 and no one in my guild that I am aware of had any account issues other then not being able to get the game.
Exploiting/cheating/unattended macroing: I have also read and heard alot about this especially on these boards which also made me skeptical about playing however like I said in my initial post I have not witnessed this other then once and I reported the person weather the GM's banned the person or not I don't know but it only happened once and I am an active player. unattended macroing is actually common with harvesters people who are mining or cutting lumber. I have a loping macro myself that does this it allows me to harvest while talking on vent or sending tells while waiting for the clan raid to start. There is a hudge downside to unattended macro'ing though as I have solo attacked a town and killed all the people mining or cutting then ran off with all their stuff I have got a lot of timber and ore this way.
Synch issues: I don't know exactly what that is but some people who got in the first day said that they would attack a mob but it wouldn't be there I got in the second week so I did not have these problems other then the one I listed above.
From my perspective the release did go fairly well but I can certainly see where your coming from.
Also I think it is important that I did not make my post to draw flames just that I use this site to judge games and most posts on the MMORPG forums especially about Darkfall are either flaming the game with things that are not true or people praising the game with out really explaining what is so great about it. I made no effort to hide the fact that I enjoy the game but provided sound reasoning for my conclusions and I was neutral to DF until I played it for a bit.

Id expect no less from you. I think torture might be the only way to get you to admit the truth about this game.
Why does your post read like an advertisement? When you say things like this, "Also the physics are amazing how when you shoot an arrow at someone you have to compensate for distance and aim higher.", it is hard to do anything but laugh at your post. It seems like something an advertising guy would write when trying to make a crappy product look good.
The one and only.
I just wish those few people who do enjoy the game could say so without making blatantly false statements about the rest of the MMO genre. Name one major release where tab-auto-attack, walk away is a viable strategy. Sure, you COULD do that, but you'd come back to the bindstone/graveyard/whatever. Don't make idiot statements like that to try to look more hardcore than the rest of us. Can't take one other word you typed seriously if your basic premise starts out with a falsehood.
Wrath of the lich king?
Oh cmon, this is a honed and oiled fanboi weapon. What better way to prove your game is superior than to belittle every other game on the market with an unfounded blanket statement?

The statement you quoted is actually true.
Is there something you find hard to believe about it?
How else, would one in fact explain how archery works in Darkfall, especially when related to other games in this genre?

When you shoot an arrow at someone from a distance you have to aim higher = true. This is an example of "amazing physics" = NOT true. It is absurd to say this is amazing physics, it is the most basic possible physics that can exist in a game, in fact this same "amazing physics" has been present in video games going all the way back to the Atari arcade games of the early 1980s. To say having to aim your arrows up is "amazing physics" is so ridiculous only an advert man or a retard would say that. They must be easily amazed, or never played a video game before.

Well, personally I think you have to be a fan to be willing to jump through the hoops it takes to buy and install DF, but it was a decent write up, (you really should post a few negatives just for balance, every game has them).
Glad to see you and many others are having fun but am suprised you didn't mention the queueing issues, but then reports on those seem a bit erratic, some folks suffer severely, others not so much. (maybe it has more to do with what time of day a person plays?)
A lot of what you post sounds exciting, but be careful of over-exaggerating, such as with statements like this is the first game to b bring back risk vs reward. EVE's had it for quite some time, as well as some others, though it probably the first recent fantasy title to provide the full loot mechanic in quite a while. But I do understand what you mean by the thrill of meaningful pvp, which really means you try to avoid dying at all cost, and crushing your opponent.
Good luck to you and one day if a US server opens (and they make it a bit easier to buy/install) I'll probably give it a go.

"Amazing physics" is an opinion, it is neither true nor false.
Where did you go to school?

i think torture might be the only way you'll open your eyes and see Darkfall is a pretty great game if you're the kind of person who likes PVP & the sandbox style.
qq.
Indeed.
My current list of negatives are:
Aventurine seems unable to currently handle the demand for their game.
Aventurine seems to have some issue with their server code which is causing degradation of performance over time requiring server reboots to correct.
I wish my city had a gate, lol.
There are things I would like to see added, similar to what CCP has done, over time, but the issues I listed are the main ones causing me any issue, atm.

well to be fair, manually-aimed unlimited-range arrows that follow a parabolic trajectory and also impart their momentum to the target (knockback) *is* pretty new & different for a MMO.
Wrath of the lich king?
oh thats so funny... also its true btw... -_- tool
I believe the 86 plus pages of Account issues on the Darkfall Official forum may disagree with you, as does the Queue thread aswell.
Nice attempt at a write up though, even for a new member it's pretty brave to paint such a glowing picture of a game that has garnered such a mixed bag of emotions on this site, however if your enjoying the game thats all that matters, I will however read more than one review and generally go for ones that come from a source that has written for not just one game as you tend to get all the facts, not just the ones the writer wants you to read .
P.s you better kick some of your members butts into action, you've only got 49 of them registered out of the 100 plus .
Nice review, same experiences and same opinions here. Except i don't hate crafting or PvE in a game and DarkFall offers me good fun for that too..is different from PvE games but i enjoy it..

Well, I haven't played WoW since about 3 months after release, so I cannot say if this is true or not, but I doubt it. WoW is by no means challenging, and I have heard WotLK made it even easier, but i am pretty sure to win an even level fight, you still need to actually click on your abilities.
{Mod Edit}
You should open your mind a little bit more and prepare for the fact that the world of ideas is more complex and less concrete than what you have imagined so far. "Facts" ARE "opinions". You are making a false distinction between the two.
I believe the argument you are trying to make is that the op's description of "amazing physics" was a subjective value judgment, and therefore not open to debate. In this case, the argument devolves somewhat into a discussion of semantics and how language works, but basically you are still wrong. If someone says, "Wow, these corn dogs are amazing!" they are in a sense making a subjective value judgment which is not open to debate, but in a larger sense they are communicating an idea to other people that the corndogs are somehow exceptional or special compared to other corn dogs. If the corn dogs are not exceptional or special, or perhaps even below average compared to most other corn dogs, then this idea of "amazing" corndogs that the individual is communicating is incorrect.
The kind of value judgment you are probably thinking of, is something more along the lines of, "I think these corn dogs are great!" But even in this case, it is more a matter of not being worth anyone's time to debate the point than that the point is not debatable. The person making the value judgment could be stating their feelings incorrectly, they could be lying, they could be using the word "great" incorrectly, in a way that doesn't apply to the actual feeling that they have. Like any other statement, the correctness of "I think these corn dogs are great" is perfectly debatable, but it is rarely worth anyone's time to debate it.
But really, the bottom line is that if you think that someone's statement "this game's physics are amazing" is not a debatable statement, that is to say if you think this statement is not capable of being incorrect, then you are a [literally] moron who is not capable of communication with other human beings in a normal sense. If someone says that "the New York Yankees were amazing last night!" and they lost 35-0, then their friend says, "No they weren't, they were terrible."... apparently that is a conversation that would confuse you?
If so, I am sorry about your mental defficiency, and did not mean to insult you over it.
The one and only.
Wait, so you're saying that 'this game's physics are amazing' is not up for debate?
Really?
If he said 'I think this game's physics are amazing', then yeah - you'd have a point.
But opinions are always open for debate, regardless.
In any case it's clear you're only trying to aggravate him without having to actually think.
I wish I could find a legitimate opinion of Darkfall. They're all either glowing fanboy reviews or rabid hate-filled diatribes. This thread has both.
Nope, read my entry into the thread. I merely stated that one had to aim high in order to hit a distant target with Archery, as stated by the OP, was a fact. I also stated that "amazing physics" was simply his opinion.
I was then involved in a discussion in which a poster tried to make the case that "amazing physics" was something other than an opinion, with whom I disagreed.
As far as I know, the original poster may have never seen physics in a game similar to what he has seen in Darkfall. If that is the case, he may indeed find such physics amazing.
Anyone else's opinion, regarding the OP's definition of amazing will not change the fact that when he wrote the OP, he believed that the physics where, in his opinion, amazing.
That's all...
(ps. I play Darkfall and, in my opinion, it is a blast. The most fun I have ever had playing an MMO.)
