What do you think it will happen when the game starts with so much people wanting to jump in? I hope the servers can handle it.

That absolutely did not contribute at all to the discussion

Although, I have to say I agree - Aion is a bit too 'grindy' for Western gamers, so will hit max 2 mil amongst EU/USA combined

I'm curious why you think it's grindy. I've played in the beta and the leveling pace is on par with WoW/Lotro/EQ2 and was ALL quest based. Unless you consider WoW grindy in which case I really have to disagree with you.

Some saying Aion is a gring is just way off base. Aion is right on par as stated above with the rest of the Western marketed mmos. Some of you didn't complain when you had to level grind to 60 in WOW or max level in Lotro but yet they will fill the forums complaining about Aion. Some just need to get over it and just realize Aion is the next big mmo and people are having a great time playing it.

if wow can be a success then Aion has every chance.

Thanks for taking a cheap shot at WoW. Its still an amazing game. Aion will do fine but no where near the asian numbers. The reason for it is because its not a western style mmo. Its still a grinder to a certain extent which is one of the big turnoffs.

    3.5 million subs in Asia?

So it's not even as popular as WOW with it's 5-6 million in Asia?

I agree SgtFrog, 500k or so maximum in NA/EU. Which is good, but that will be "peak" subscriptions.

uninformed, estimations..whatever will you guess about next.

Aion is not a grinder, have you even played passed level 30 ?

Well finally a game that can take over my WoW addiction, since I played it too much and puke on it atm. I am atleast going for one max level char then I can speak if its grind or not. And if youre saying Aion is a grinder it means there are NO MMO AT ALL that isnt a grinder... they all are. If you stay on a certain spot for like 8 hours staight killing same mob that is "grinding"  killing 20 mobs just dont cut it mate. Play LINEAGE 2  til youre level 80 and then come back and tell me what a GRINDER MMO is please...

    Over and Out!

i hope aion kills wow, wow fanbois are worst type.

lineage 2 was way bigger then wow at some point is now lol if i recall it was 18 to 21 million so they re not new to big numbers of player and they have provent with guild wars that when they put their mind to it they can have very good look with stable system

    too

it will be higher then wow no doubt, when is more the question but the way they made this pvp system i believe they will have

a serious stuff going on in there, any that tried to own in pvp in guild wars will tell you

its very evolved its like a 21 century chess game each piece as their roll to counter specific class etc

most never use same team set up 2 days in a row they got 5 or 6 team set up at any given time

add a lot of randomness ,i bet we ll see lot of that in aion soon.the more serious ncsoft is the more the player will be

guild wars evolved when ncsof descided to add spice in the game by making tournament with prize etc

its been what 3 year check on xfire its still sitting amongst the top

i believe aion will be biggger by a long shot if the american side of ncsoft dont sleep on the job

thats the most crucial thing if american side of ncsoft take anything for granted and dont rectify fast anything

this game will be as dead as aoc as fast im sorry to say

1 thing tickle my mind ,we get a localised version of aion

so basicly it means the stuff we had in guildwars(worldwide fight etc)

wil be gone in aion i hope i miss- understand

because this would be the major weakness in this game

unless they organise monthly or weekly event anyway we ll see how it goes

while I don't think it will happen, I agree with your sentiment.  Iw as bored the other day and logged into my brothers WoW account... Honestly, I don't know how I was every so addicted to that game!  I can't really say what it was that appealed to me, probably some of the social aspects, but it really has changed.

In the end, WoW will destroy itself.  It's already starting.  Aion, Star Wars, Champions, and others will all start to eat away at their base.  And Blizzard sees it coming, too, which is why they've announced a new MMO in the works.  Who knows, maybe it will be worth playing?  Either way, the end is nigh...

it makes me lol,wow looks was ,is ,and will be cartoon style

    aion is more manga style

2 very different looks ,not one is better then the other lol its just different looks lol

its like comparing a green apple with a red apple lol they re both good in there respective way

I don't even know how to comment to such a stupid comment.   How can a game suck when it's never been played by you.   Also where do you get the idea that eve is dying, last I checked it's been constantly growing never declining.

You need to read forums more often, the worst fanbois are with out a doubt Darkfall fanbois.

The cafe then hands out a key for free as that intern starts the process of a gaming developer gaining more revenue through the in game items. Seriosly, Koren players get the shaft cause they are paying almost 5 times the cost as NA player. I'm sure some coafe will run the game free, but then I'm sure that cafe gets incentives to keep a certain ammount of costumers retained on any particular game.

Pretty much every game released in China and Korea , are instant one million sold, regardless if there is a player for the slot or not. And yes I did study e-commerce in college and we study many different models of e-commerce.

Yea sure, let's just for fun say that is 100% correct (which it is probably not).  We can ALSO jump to the CONCLUSION that since it is China/Korea, it doesn't matter how they are doing the subs/purchasing of the game, we all know that atleast 1 million of them are actually playing the game. It doesn't matter how their model is, there is still MILLIONS of them playing the game...

But yeah.  3 million cd keys sold.

See now this brings a whole new meaning to the concept of "Gaming Community".

I could see this as being a lot of fun especially if they added a bar with servers coming to the gamers stations... I suppose it could also get bad too.

The guy sitting next to you could be the person that just PK'd you in game and looted your stuff... Then you just get up and kick his azz IRL...

We don't have this here and people are always protected by the safety of their parents basement.

    What are your other Hobbies?

Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...

If you think the ranting by non Aion gamers is bad now just wait until Aion reaches over 6 mill after The Taiwain,Austrailia and NA/EU official launches. The paranoia is only going to get worse. We best call Dr Phil!

for the WoW people in the USA who feel like they constantly need to defend their game....

yes, Aion will have most of it's subscriptions in Asia, BUT

if you look at WoW's numbers you will see that over half of the subs for it are in asia, and when they hit the 10 million mark here is what was posted from Blizzard.:

"Asia is the biggest market at the moment, with more than 5.5 million players, as compared to North America's 2.5 million and 2 million subscribers in Europe."

so... if Aion only gets around 2.5 million in the US, who cares?  Most of the MMO market is overseas anyways.  So yeah, this game actually has a very good chance to actually beat WoW if done right, seeing as it has a ton of subscribers, and it's not even released in all countries yet, wheras WoW took like 5 whole years and 2 expansions to get this far.

flame me if you will, but numbers do not lie.

    http://eu.blizzard.com/en/press/080122.html

posted link for my scource, and, yeah i know they are at 11 million now, doesn't make what i just posted irrelevant.

Well just my two Cents.  As you all know WoW can be played on very minimal systems  that imo is why its so popular. Most of the players play on crap PC's that crash all the time.  Thats how they got to there 11 million subs in the first place 9 million of them are 10 year old pc's    Aion will need a pretty decent system and if your a really mmo gammer like me you upgrade constantly so you are able to play the next big thing be it  aion  ffxiv heroes of telara  or what ever you fancy.  No game will ever  have the amount of players wow has had unless it not complicated and can run on mom and dads family pc.

The reason i say this is because i had a p3 1.86  that couldnt play EQ2 but ran WoW fine thats the only reason i played WoW in the first place but when i got a new rig capible of playing eq2 i quit and nevre looked back since EQ2 has way more to offer then wow ever has and i hear it constantly from new players comming from wow all the time.

But for those of us that are True MMO players not WoW players aion is the next new shiny that will entertain us for the next year till the next new thing.

So aion might get a couple million here plus there 3.5 in asia and the majority of us will be true MMO gamers

Well Aion is doing remarkably well over-seas. Which is a great thing, I do not see it doing quite as well over in the U.S. and Europe, but I definitely see it doing better than any MMOG has done in years. 500k-1million subscribers at it's peak is my prediction, but I could be wrong and it could explode and have millions, or it could do alot worse...But from what I have seen of this game, there is no real reason for it to fail. Not to mention it will be launching with 2 or 3 major content updates as is, so people won't run out of content too quick which is been the primary problem for modern mmo releases.
