I can't believe how many people want to flame and/or be objected to such juvenile forms of communication. Beyond pathetic

Again, that is the point for this forum. For those of us who wish to NOT contribute to such childish behavior/communication, it saves us the time to have to filter through such posts. Personally, I do not see why people can not disagree/debate their different views in a cival, well thought out manner. But you and I both know that there are people who love to jump the gun and show their muscles through the use of vulgar means on a message board.

The option to have a board dedicated to only this would be a great addition to MMORPG.COM. It will make everyone elses life easier, except of course the mods. I feel for you guys. You are doing a wonderful job btw, and also I think that sharing this idea and asking the community for their thoughts on the matter is a good thing (as Martha Stewart would say :D) .. shows you guys care about how we feel, and is most appreciative.image

A forum of this nature could be a good thing but also a bad thing.  I personally would not like to see a forum of this nature but that is just me.  If it is made I will steer clear.  I would like to promote a name for said forum though:

No. It's obvious it'd have to be "Trolls Cave"

Reading the posts im sorta reminded of the guy who just recently tried to convert a lion in a zoo to Christianity by spouting bible versus at it. Dunno why...anyways....

MMOnFire is sorta catchy...have the whole MMO....fire...thing goin on there.

Dunno if i like this idea much though. Why provoke people into flamming each other. Flames are gonna happen on any forum. Me personally i wouldnt want to put any effort into making a forum to encourage it, but thats your time not mine.

Well I must say that to me it sounds like a rather good idea. After all, for those that are not interested in reading the flames and such there'd be no need to, they can just not check the forum :).

  • BzrkBzrk Member Posts: 163

    I'd say NO!!

Flaming just gets on people's nerves and clutters up the boards. If you want to flame, flame somewhere else(and I mean some other site or something).

I don't see the point of making a special flame-board. That's just giving in to all those flamers out there...

  • SarnathSarnath Member Posts: 74
I think a flame board is a bad idea. It validates flamers as being 'ok' when the opposite is true. People should be able to discuss things constructively, as adults and not like 5 year olds throwing a tantrum. Having a board where it is ok to flame is like inviting the 5 year old to throw the tantrum. I also fear that it will spill over onto other boards and simply cause more headaches for the mods. I know that several sites have such forums, I just think its a bad idea.

Though I most likely would not post on this type of a forum, I do feel that it might be a good thing to add, just because there are other people out there with nothing better to do then be "forum trolls". I think if we give them a place to go do this then it will be better because it will keep them out of the people's hair that do post for a good reason. Unfortunately as mentioned above, it is possible that this forum might lead people to believe that this sort of behavior is allowable back on the regular forums which would be bad, but why not at least try it out. Possibly even designate the certain people that post for the wrong reasons to be "banned" to only post in the Troll Forums until they can prove that they will not violate the rules any longer. But since this would create more work for the staff trying to oversee the behavior of certain people, perhaps you won't like this idea. It seems to me however that it might not hurt to try it out.

Why an EQ2 vs WoW forum when everybody knows that AO is the best ever?! ;)

You don't need no forum for thread like EQ2 vs WoW because there won't be much comments of quality. Just don't do it and save bandwide..

I think a flame board would work if:
    1. It was heavily enforced. Add new rules about flaming outside of that board, and stick to it.
    2. Threads get deleted on a regular basis. For instance, all threads with no post activity for 30 days get deleted. This would save server space.
    3. People actually folowed forum rules

Overall, if people can co-operate and use a little intelligence, I say go for it. Good luck on that part.

I really don't see the point. A dedicated place for people to intimidate and flame each other? Isn't there  enough hate in the world already? As MMORPG players in virtual worlds/universes, I quite like the idea of playing/living in a Utopia based on what we do. Shouldn't we be setting an example for that guys instead of encouraging bad feeling?

A flame board would be rather intresting.

You could see how many people you have pissed off in other boards and then count the amount of personal attacks/flames and so on made upon your persona in the flame board. :>

Well, ok, MOST gloves are off, naturally we'll still have to watch for Racial Slurs and stuff like that, but other than that it'd be your place to go and get your rant on. You could flame all you wanted there, have all the EQ2 vs. WoW wars you want. This way you can have a place to do such things without cluttering up the board, we don't have to spend as much time deleting 50 million EQ2 vs WoW threads, etc...
Whatcha think? Vote in the poll and offer suggestions for the name of said forum? Something catchy to indicate the kinda flame wars which I'm sure will take place within. Just keep the name clean, not everyone will be visiting it and nor would they want to have to see a vulgar name in the forum list. Something like The Battlefield, The Boilerroom, The Flame Pit, etc.

So are you trying to say that you guys are getting lazy? Ha, you guys were doing very well with locking topics but now you guys are trying to give up on your job? We don't need one a topic for flaming games. Espically when many flame about a game they:

    1) never played

    2) don't know nothing about

    3) doing it cuz their friends don't like it

    4) to ignorant to read up on it

    5) base a game is good or not by graphics

    6) etc.

The idea is pointless. It will make this site on the way to corruption. I don't want this place to end up like the currupted Gameshark.com(image) board (I will make a topic on my terrible experience being a member there for about a year sometime later).

Now I know what you can do. Make a clean debate topic. Ever watch the presidantial debate? It's clean, organized, and not just a bunch of unthoughtful bull crap (for example: EQ2 sucks becuase of it's graphics), and if It does come up (without a reasionable explination, then the post and/or topic should be deleted. That's the kind of topic we need. More fact, more opinion, more organized, less spam, trash, and bullcrap.image

    b)  Gaged image

    c)  Sused image

Any of these would be great names...
