LOL here comes all the QQing about the grind. I really glad to see ppl max lvl after a few weeks out. Goes to show all those QQer's that there very little grind in this game. And now that they upped the xp for quest will see lots more max ppl out there in the abyss. Game on !
The only people that will be level 50 this soon are the ones who have played 24/7 since the headstart.
Aion is nothing but grind.
then you are wrong, one of my friend only play 1-2 hours per day and only play about 4 days, he is level 20 already.
Why lie? jesus I was in a guild with over 70+ memebrs each playing 8+ hours a day when Aion first launched, alot played in beat, and in 1 week we only had about 5 members lvl 20+ and alot in the 13=19 bracket, and thats with people playing 8+ hours a day and on the most populated server in the EU Spatalos. So please dont spout crap and lie. The only way anyone can even have 2 lvl 50's at this point is if they are playing the game non stop and have absolulutely no life at all.
Not sure what your Legion is smoking, but it does NOT take a week, 8+ hrs a day to get to level 20. I just built a glad yesterday and played less than 8 hrs (work and sleep more important) and I still got her to level 17 in that ONE day. I moved my SM from level 14 to level 23 in ONE day this past weekend. Granted, it is more difficult to do that after level 25, but dont' come on here jumping all up and down calling people liars when its possible. I even play one character on one screen and craft with another on the second screen, swap them when the funds change or feed one from the other if I need to.
Yeah, level 50 at the end of 2 weeks - no way they have a full time job or family. But one person, 10-14 hrs a day (8 for sleep - 2-6 for eat and relax) can easily push it if they really really wanted to. Personally I wouldn't want to even try to do that if I had the free time to do it, but it can be done.
HAHAHAHA lvl 17 in one day inless than 8 hours. Sure thing bud. Seems like ur the one smoking the funny stuff .
One day. Built her as a storage alt for my main. Her Legion was built the same day I built her, has only her in it, and her Legion bank is now full of nothing but Flux for my crafting. And yes, level 1 to level 17 in one day. Notice the Legion create date is 10/07 - today is 10/08 and I have currently been at work for the past 10 hours. Oh yeah, I slept 9 hours before work too just in case you wanted that detail too.
Sure thing bud. You think because u show me a bloody link of a character lvl 17 it somehow show u got to lvl 17 in 1 day with less than 8 hours of play? Note less than 8 hours u said. hell if u said u spent all day 14+ hours then maybe. The fact legios arnt created as soon as u create a character means nothing here, hell anyone can create a legion anytime they want, hell you could have created it at lvl 12. So once again please stop talking crap about u got to lvl 17 in 1 day playing less than 8 hours.

I can understand your skepticism since its obvious you lack the ability to do what I can. I am being 100% honest with you though. I made her, ran her through Poeta in less than 2 hours, made her Legion as soon as I got to Sanctum on 10/07, played another 5 hours and went to bed. My buddy went to bed at about 3am when his GF caught him still up playing and I was just hitting Scar. By the time he got up that morning at about 9am I was already 17 and getting ready for bed. Don't hate because you can't believe its the truth. Not my problem buddy, it is what it is though, the truth.

Sad thing is, the "end game" and "how quickly you get there" has become "the main focus" for MMOs to many players. That's the disconnect, I think, with people who may be new to the genre... To them, the older MMOs were "too slow" and you "couldn't get to end-game fast enough".
The thing is, the thinking and playstyle of most players back then was also very different... Many weren't *trying* to race to end game. Things only seem to take "too long" when you're in a hurry... and many weren't. They were simply enjoying themselves in the game world, questing, exploring, PvP'ing... having a good time... enjoying the journey. Level cap was some far off thing you'd reach... eventually, while having a lot of fun in the meantime. I fall squarely in that camp.
I'm waiting to see if the genre eventually goes full circle and people start to realize that there should be more to a MMO than what happens at end-game.. that the rest of the game matters, too. Unfortunately, many developers have already fallen into the routine of developing what they believe the players want.. which at this time is a MMO with a very short xp curve to level cap. I'd love to see it come back around to MMOs becoming "worlds" again, and not merely "games" to play through and move on to the next.
I couldn't agree with you more. I have been playing mmorpgs since they existed and I have watched the gaming trends go from (casual play + community = fun) to where it is now, everyone speeding to end game as fast as they can and then sit around wondering what the hell there is to do. They end up running through the same end game scenarios over and over; which, to me is far worse than grinding.
The new gamers now are impatient and seek instant gratification for their hours of impulsive play. I hope you are right too; I would love to see sandbox games become the trend again. Tired of these linear based games that leave little to the imagination of the players.
I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use. - Galileo Galilei
Story driven gameplay and sandbox do not mix in the same sentence. Story driven equals linear. Sandbox does not. You can drop a player in a rich with story and lore world to find his way in a sandbox game. If you drop him in a story driven game, you lead him by the nose, thus defeating the meaning of sandbox.
Sorry chatting crap again? Morrowind is sandbox rpg, GTA is a sandbox game,, and probably many more titles with a story which are also sandbox. In Eve there is a story from the very beginning so please dont chat crap. Unless ur saying eve is not sandbox like many on this site proclaim it to be.
I fear that you're (or I am) confusing a story driven game, something that it's tailored exactly to your character and revolves around him, with a rich in lore world that you can explore and experience. In this regard, both Morrowind and GTA have an interesting world that you can explore. They are not however story driven, with emphasis on the driven part. In fact, you can totally ignore the "main" plot and just roam around doing your own thin.
LOL here comes all the QQing about the grind. I really glad to see ppl max lvl after a few weeks out. Goes to show all those QQer's that there very little grind in this game. And now that they upped the xp for quest will see lots more max ppl out there in the abyss. Game on !

Aion is nothing but grind.
It only proves how shallow, simplistic and repetitive this game is - been there (for free), seen that (for free), done that (for free) a LONG time ago, and even if Aion was free I doubt I would play it. It's one of the worst pay to play games I have ever seen. The boredom is just too overwhelming to even bother loading the game up any more. One of my friends, who has also all but quit the game, says that "Aion" must be Korean for "yawn".

Then pretty much all other P2P MMO's must be total POOP too then.
As they all had their share of no lives, living in mommy's basement reaching the cap within 2 weeks.
With AION its no different. Especially since the game is out for a year already. So these 2 people most probably had all the experience from Korean/Chinese Aion and knew exactly how to get there that fast.

You must be new to mmos. The first few players to level cap don't prove anything at all about the game they are "playing."

I'd love to see it come back around to MMOs becoming "worlds" again, and not merely "games" to play through and move on to the next.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I still play as if its a 'world' and realize that eventually, those that don't, will become bored and move on. Leaving the world to those of us that view it as we hope it is. MMOs used to be where you came to play to have fun, too recently too many have tried to make it a job, which still makes me wonder why....
I kinda think it comes from a "console" mentality. Console games are played through, finished in a week, then the player moves on to the next... The goal in a single-player console game is to "beat the game", and doing so quickly is considered a bragging point.
I see that same mentality being applied to MMOs. The difference is, because MMOs have no "finish line" to race to, the "end-game" or "level cap" has become the surrogate of "winning the game", and so that's what people race toward.
You see it all the time in various threads... People say things like "getting to end game is the main objective in a MMO", or "End game is all that matters, the companies only make you grind all those levels so they can make more money". That second sentiment drives me particularly nuts because it says it all... they have the complete wrong idea of what a MMO is. MMORPGs were derived from MUDs, which were derived from table-top RPGs, which were on-going adventures that could span months, if not years. You weren't finished with a campaign until everyone agreed it was time to do something new.
And further, if anyone doubts that, just think of it this way... Ever notice that the people who take their time, do different things, and are in no hurry to the end-game almost always seem to enjoy a MMO far more, and for far longer, than those who treat it like a race to end-game? No, it's not because "they suck at gaming"; contrary to popular belief, there's nothing "difficult" about grinding levels in a MMO. It's because they're taking in the MMO as a whole experience, from level one and on. They're not only focusing on *one*, maybe two, aspects of it, wearing blinders against everything else.
That might sound "arrogant" to some, and others might take it very personally... I won't apologize for that. I call it as I see it. Being someone who's been in MMOs for 8+ years now, I've seen the difference in players back then compared to gamers now, in the "post-WoW" period. The "old-school" gamers are enjoying themselves in which ever MMO they've decided to call their "home away from home" with no intent to leave. The newer gamers are relentlessly racing through their current MMO, grinding out all the best gear while waiting for the next new MMO to come out so they can do it again.

No i dont like that , id like to kill a few monsters.
Anyhows , i can agree on that Lineage 2 is a grinding game , since there are no quest and no nothing, and it take over 1 year of grinding to get to top lvl. atleast when i played and the game was hot, , think it was during C3
Even if they played 20 hours a day since early access that would make 400 hours which is not bad at all
Yeah but that's pretty much 400 hours of straight gr---leveling....lol
When I'm playing an MMO I usually like to do other stuff like explore, communicate, play around with items and crafting, or sometimes just sit down and watch the virtual sunset...=)
You have to agree gr---leveling is an issue in this game right now, I really don't see any reason to defend it yet since it's too early to say what type of effect it might have with the in-game community.
Etiher:
A) Will form stronger bonds amongst communities making players put aside their self-centered needs with lewt and end-game glory.
or
Mass exodus.
Now I'm sure there might be a C or D option but I'm also sure it'll be something in between those two.
Plus I don't see why anyone would form bonds with an MMO that just came out, as for me I'm just here and in-game as an observer curious to see what will happen.

As a Lineage 1+2 and FF11 player I do not find this game a grind at all....I’m used to taking a long journey
Remember when mmorpg's used to be about the journey, not the destination?
Yes. I hail from that era and I have to say that Aion is mostly a grinder with a few quests thrown in: I hit a quest desert at level 21 with nothing to do but grind. I'm struggling to 25 (23 atm), since I can't force myself to kill (literally) thousands of monsters OVER and OVER again, because the developers didn't add enough content.
Not only is the content sparse in Aion, but it's by far the most linear theme park game I've ever played: There's no real reward for exploring; it's as if the mobs were just thrown in for the purpose of leveling. It's a real shame too, since the engine is phenomenal. I really regret not having canceled my pre-order, since all of the tools to recognize this game as a grinder were all there (i.e. aionarmory to see how many quests there were) . There are very few mmo's I've ever played that I've had trouble playing in the first month: Aion is at the top of the list and right now I have to admit that in my entire time of playing Age of Conan to 80, struggling with it's myriad technical flaws including crashes every 2 hours, that I had more fun playing and exploring that game than I have Aion.
Aion is a game for people who play games for the sake of online competition; there's absolutely no role play factor to it and no depth. There's combat and the two mindless grinds known as gathering and crafting. Nothing in this game is novel, or complex: It's merely combat with a handful of quests and PvP. Even WAR was less linear and more rewarding for exploration than this game. I could even make it to t4 in WAR, yet I can barely make it to 25 in Aion.... amazing...
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
Moo I'm 30 and I've grinded 2 bubbles so far.. so I think, as I've said to everyone else who says this and had many others agree with me on, you're not looking for quests.
By the way, there -IS- another whole level 20-40 area for each faction. You could always go there if you wanted quests and didn't want to look around for them, you know.
There's no reason to grind mobs, maybe past 30 there will be but meh, so far you can choose not to grind.
All of the other things you stated are your opinions, however, so I am sorry that you don't like the game. Hope you find something to tide you over.

You call it a Linear Themepark and yet you can't even find the quests in it? Must not be that linear. I just hit level 35 and I have not grinded ONCE. I've been doing quests all the way up + I did nochsana training camp when I could. That was good fun. SERIOUSLY people, you are contradicting yourselves.
You say its a linear grindfest, but that's only because you are playing it like a linear game when it is not. GO EXPLORE. Find the quests, the only reason you are grinding is because you are expecting it to hand you the quests and lead you from hub to hub just like game-that-must-not-be-named. Get a clue.
The highest level character on my server, Pengu, was showing off his ultimate Spiritmaster pet so here are some sexy screenshots to share with you. It's on topic, nay?
Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.
Let people call it a grind if they want, they simply mean it's boring. What's the problem if you yourself enjoy it. What, does it hurt that much to see other people having different opinions?
Seriously, does EVERY fucking thread I see in a game forum need to contain debates, even in topics that has nothing with that to do. I know my little comment won't change anything, but let me express my opinion.
Back to topic, 2 weeks of constant playing to reach lv50 is quite a lot compared to the latest MMORPG, isn't it? I wouldn't blame people calling it a grind if they just want to reach "end game". I've been playing since headstart and lately reached lv24, I got a long way to go, akak. I'm not hating the game if you think so, I quite like it.
ESS O ESS. O ESS O. OR ESS? Bah, fuck it, just call 911.

So once again please stop talking crap about u got to lvl 17 in 1 day playing less than 8 hours.

then you are wrong, one of my friend only play 1-2 hours per day and only play about 4 days, he is level 20 already.
Why lie? jesus I was in a guild with over 70+ memebrs each playing 8+ hours a day when Aion first launched, alot played in beat, and in 1 week we only had about 5 members lvl 20+ and alot in the 13=19 bracket, and thats with people playing 8+ hours a day and on the most populated server in the EU Spatalos.
Seems like ur the one smoking the funny stuff .
http://na.aiononline.com/livestatus/character-legion/search?charID=108927&serverID=7

EVE is not story driven either.

Cheers
You must be new to mmos. The first few players to level cap don't prove anything at all about the game they are "playing."

So seriously, stop talking crap when your full of it

No, I just call those two a pair of nutcases.
Even if they played 20 hours a day since early access that would make 400 hours which is not bad at all

How do you define Grind ?.
Killing monster , than yes . Aion is grind.
We could do it the flamers "Trolls" way ,
Go and get me 3 flowers and i reward you my kingdom.
No i dont like that , id like to kill a few monsters.
Anyhows , i can agree on that Lineage 2 is a grinding game , since there are no quest and no nothing, and it take over 1 year of grinding to get to top lvl. atleast when i played and the game was hot, , think it was during C3
And in Aion it took 3-4 weeks for the first

Awesome stuff, someone has already won the game!
So no need to try it now

Nice pet looks like an armored shiva :P
Power levelers will get to cap no matter what it takes. And yes, this game is a boring grind in the latter half.
