And seeing as it isn't, it is safe to assume that World of Warcraft is the most dominant/best game the MMORPG genre has witnessed, and unless someone is prepared to spend many a million, it is likely to be the best game within the MMORPG genre for the distant future beyond with what we can comprehend wih, even if it's reign has ended.
    Thanks!

So by your logic, a Facebook game can be a better game than WoW, because it has more players?

Please understand this simple fact - quantity does not equal quality. You can sell far more Twinkies out of snack machines than nutritious meals out of health food stores, but that does not make Twinkies the better food.

So the OP taught me WoW shouldn't be hated because.

It's the largest MMORPG ever made (I'm sure he means sub wise, if he is talking world he is out of his mind)

    Most Popular (WE HAZ PPL)

    Highest Earning ($$)

Most Dominate (Blizzard is a Shadow Priest sploiting MC?)

    Graphical Update (A -> A)

13 Million Active Members (uhhh...WE HAZ PPL, again?)

Lore (Night elf mages, Undead priests are the right way)

So, what makes the game fun?

I prefer Vanguard: Saga of heroes.

WoW dont have anything special about it..very mainstream and gets boring really fast. I want a MMORPG that has something uniqe... and vanguard has that. Guild wars is a game i really like..but its a CORPG, Still.... GW2 will have awesome uniqe features.

fail analogy, this is nothing like Adolf Hitler nor does it have any thing relating to it. Is WoW lying to people while having an ultimated plan of killing thousand of people of a race?. idk what school you go to but they didn't do their job really well.

As I have said many times before....

My opinion is fact, your opinion is retarded....

Comparing this to anything else in the real world does not work because you are saying your OPINION on Mcdonalds, authors, movies, etcs are total and complete facts, and everyone else agrees with your "opinion facts".

Some people love those things you mentioned and say they are the best.  Generalizing that everyone hates WoW, Microsoft or what have you is silly too.

WoW being easy, linear and able to appeal a larger playerbase is a fact too.. Which make our ''retarded opinion'' not that retarded

I don't hate WoW, I just stopped enjoying it, the last few months where I played it weren't fun, well the majority of play time wasn't fun, I'd log on a few times a week, do boring crap for that one day a week were I'd log on for a few hours and actually have fun. After a while I realised, hey this isn't fun, even the interesting parts are fun interspersed with frustration why am I still playing this?

So I stopped playing it, felt better for it, went and played different games, and started enjoying gaming again. So when I say I don't enjoy WoW, I mean I don't enjoy WoW anymore, not that I hate the game.

The only part of the game I hated were large sections of the community, I'd played other MMOs before WoW, and even at their worst, the communities in those games had nothing on WoW's on a good day. Memes, ASCII art, rampart elitism, jerks being jerks just to be jerks without anyone doing anything about it... the WoW community was just shocking.

  • ArcwelderArcwelder Member Posts: 33

Simply because WoW has caused other MMO's to "dumb" down to it's level...mindless "uber" gear grinds with a path that is decided for you. WoW is like an MMO high school...those with the cool cars, shoes, latest cellphone etc. An ox with shoulder pads the size of basket balls that glow in the dark just looks so cool.....

Super Mario bros on roids imo...

See now this is the silliest most biased statement ever seen by man. I pity the child that cant keep his over anal political confirmation bias perspective out of a gaming thread. You already encompass the "i dont understand" crowd. Recommendation: Learn the 10 principles of conservatism, read up on conservative liberalism and liberal conservatism, and finally keep that kind of junk out of these kinds of websites or take it to the off topic section. Whats funny is you assume all the people involved in creating WoW are not right wing conservatives...for all you know they could be, or not.

That said: WoW is one of the most solidly designed and planned games to ever have been made. Blizzard did everything right (pun not intended) and are reaping the benefits.

If you played MMO's before WoW you would understand OP.

Its a good game for beginners that are around 10 years old and like to be led by the hand.

^ My god... Love that quote right there (Kids being influenced by their left winged teachers/television stars) and he thinks he understands? Obama is ruining this country and "trying" to make it a socialist country. Basically making people who choose not to work or illegal free money etc... Go get your GED and go get a job you lazy fucks.

Ah well I will not go on with Politics, fact is that it WAS a good game Pre BC. Once they made raids easier and made us raiders get their hard worked items replaced within levels in BC I quit. I mean really Blizzard made whites better than our T3 gear I sold and was happy after that.

The main reason why it is has SO many subs is the simple fact that they made it for the child community. They made it so easy that they can be capped level within a day.

Its also a very very easy game.

I absolutely love threads like this. I love the "it's so easy" posts about WoW. I 100% guarantee you that nobody who talks about WoW being too easy, actually finished all of its content, either in Classic or either of the expansions. Has ANYONE on this forum, period, killed Cthun when he was legit? How about Kel'Thuzad in Classic. How about Kiljeaden, or Yogg+0. I'd say not.

Playing on a world or us-ranked level, it becomes evident how deep and complex WoW's combat system really is. Anything too far below that, yes it appears simplistic.

As a matter of fact I would go as far too say that WoW's combat system is overly and unneccessarily complicated (block rating vs block value?)

World of Warcraft itself is a well designed, non bug ridden game, relative to other titles in the genre.  That said, I cannot bring myself to play this game.  It isn't the game itself that I despise, but rather the grossly idiotic players of the game.  In all fairness, not everyone who plays the game is asinine, but from what I have experienced, far too many of these players are just that.  The chat channels in World of Warcraft are filled with such outrageous stupidity that I fear for my own mind having read the messages.

I suppose my extended time in EVE Online has spoiled me.  After all as the saying goes, "When a person leaves EVE for World of Warcraft, the average intelligence of both communities increases."

It is not that WOW is a "bad" game it is just not a game for the casual player. I think there are more casual players then hardcore in the world of gaming. WOW shoudl cater to us as well. I only play WOW until i cap then there is nothing for me. Is that success? I don't think so. They could implement a lot of things that would keep players like us playing. Example: Instances: when I go to an instance that requires a team or raid but there is no one available to do it because it is old skool then what do I do? I have to pass it up and miss the quests. Simply make an option to one man it. At least I can finish my quests and have a little fun in a zone that before I would have missed. Casual players are important. Why keep the old zones if they are worthless? I am about to end my WOW account once again because repetition does  not appeal to me and I am rather pissed off that I miss out on some instances that people just do not care about anymore. Happy Holidays. Peace.

That right there says it all.  People who started with WoW will never understand what is missing compared to the games pre-WoW.  I don't hate WoW, but I do hate what has happened to the MMO genre because of WoW. Rather than seeing original and different MMOs, we have to see WoW with different skins.

Companies have constantly try and copy WoW, and not done so well. Why would players want to leave WoW, just to go and play the same game with a different skin, and more bugs?

But on the bright side...with all these WoW clone failures, perhaps we will soon see devs taking a different direction and investors willing to invest in something different.

If you haven't worked that out, I know you're either A: A bad Tank. B: Never seen endgame, C:Both

It's not a versus matter, you take both.

Value - How much you block

Rating - How often you block.

    Why do i hate W.O.W.??

    1) character class manipulation:  sorry but after being around for 4ish years or whatever get the freakin classes balanced.  IMO they screw with class skills to generate interest in the game when the game itself loses people.  "OH cool, they just ramped up my huntard, ima go pwn face for a while till too many people complain about it"

    2)  the motivations for their expansions:  How do we get 10million people to rebuy the game?? release an expansion that makes your gear useless.  Because i just loooved finally gettting high warlord gear and have it replaced by 74ish greens.(just as an example, calm down haters i've been playing 80 content)

    3)  class builds:  dont be fooled people.  Mathematically speaking ( and elitest jerk speaking)  you get one build for each character concept.  dont think you can really make a viable raid spec'd sub rogue...you might get close in dps but strictly speaking your sub-par.  Most of the time your talking about 3-5 flexible talent points..the rest are required spending for your "job" be it pvp, raid, etc.

    4)  final reason i hate wow is apparently they have sucked up all the good ideas and have made other dev's actually forget what good ideas wow has.  I dont think any other mmo out there has a gear preview option for example... and i dont know why since it's awesome in wow..so obviously wow must have some evil plot control over it.  (sarcasm)

  • Tenbwen1Tenbwen1 Member UncommonPosts: 50

Yes WoW is basically Everquest on easy Mode.

    Even the raids were easier.

So wow is basically an everquest clone.

    13million Carebears can't be wrong :)

WoW was good, it is now currently still riding on the initial greatness the original game was. It's a snowball effect. WoW was great and gained millions of players and continues to gain more players now because of how many players it has.

The current version of the game blows. There is no challenge or fun left in 5 man dungeons. The raids are okay but dumbed down. The 5 man dungeons are now nothing but retard zergfest. Everyone just runs in and AOEs, its retarded.
