I agree with you about that.  Also, taking 5 months longer than it was suppose to for the boxes to get shipped pushed it farther along.

who ships boxes in beta tho ..

Starvault.  I wouldn't care if it was beta disks, but at least make them to where you can download the updates through it and not have to download the game through a torrent...

Exactly.. and then to top it off they make it sound like this was their plan all along... like you should have known they were sending you an unpatchable disc (which many STILL haven't received).  Promises of sending a real disc after launch are pointless as by the time they will be received the game will have been lanuched for a month or so...

It's not a matter of "why do you need the disc".  It's the matter that people bought them for their own reasons.. maybe it was as a collector, maybe it was because they are on a bandwidth meter, maybe it's because they didn;t want to tie up their system for 24 hours downloading the torrent.. maybe some other reason.

Sending a useless and unpatchable disc that won't be fixed until a month after release is just a slap in the face.

The types of games are apparently very difficult to do right.  Just look at Darkfall, similar idea, it was more of a scam since there was no open beta, and still no free trial, and the PVE content is still lacking.  But at LEAST Mortal Online is offering an open beta.  They could just pull a Darkfall and offer none and make you buy the box.

I'll definitely be trying MO just like everyone else.

The difference is that in Darkfall demand far outpaced supply.  They were only able to fill a small percentage of orders when they launched because demand was so high.  This caused guilds to be split and much frustration.  There was no need for an open beta/advertising phase as they knew they had more than enough people waiting to order.

MO on the other hand has not generated the same buzz/interest.  They still have "limited supply" boxes for sale... 7 months after they went on sale.  They have lowered the price of their digital download two seperate times.   This is a case where.. so far.. supply has outweighed demand.

Though you have to be fair, if people had gotten more information about darkfall and the state it was in on launch BEFORE they started selling the game, theres a pretty good chance demand could have been lower.  AV was never tight lipped about the game.. only about actually showing it in action and letting players test it.  SV went the other route and gave people beta access way too early, and is opening it up for lots of players to try before they buy... which honestly, its somewhat commendable seeing as how they'd have a better chance of selling copies to players who know slightly less about the state of the game.

  • I have no tried the game, or do I plan to buy it, I still try to keep me somewhat updated on all mmorpgs out there, at least western. But I could do this with every game, I could select a few topics and make the game look very bad, and try to get people to see the truth. How is that fair? To take a very small portion of the fan base and make a conclusion?I wonder why people feel the need to spend time to slander a game, just move on, it wasn't for you, fine let's go look at something else.

People feel they are doing a service to the community and save them money. I am not sure how seriously anyone takes these forums anymore to be honest. The amount logged in tend to be very few these days. But really it would be better to post your feelings once and move on than to have a crusade. It seems the more you rant against something the more credibility you lose.

Cuts both ways fawnboi. The more shilling type posts you make the more credibility you loose also, and you along with several others have lost just about any that you started with.

Keep up the good fight though, it served DnF well for people to lie to others about the state of the game, look at their huge sub numbers. Most of the suckers are already on DnF, where is MO going to get its crop of fools from?

You know, the reality is they are rushing for a release to make you people happy.  If it werent for the millions of hate mails and negative forum posts I am certain the game would be way better off than it is now.  They are pushing to make people happy.  If things go bad in a beta, you push the release back, thats what beta is for.  Apparently it isn't ready for public release.

It's sad we live in a world full of impatient people who want things now, the way they want it.

Sure, the game has a long way to go.  It won't be perfect for some time.  And honestly, if you dislike it so much, why do you bother to post about it?  Sounds to me you "want" mortal, but the finalized package with no bugs and a perfect system.  Won't happen any time soon.  Quit crying and check back next year.

I personally think the dev team is doing a lot better than most teams.  They're young, and have no finacial backing like the bigger companies.  Things won't go as easily for them as say Blizzard, food for thought.

And before you talk about people lying about the state of the game...So tell me, how do you lie about something when there are hundreds of videos on youtube showing you exactly what it looks like in game?  Honestly?  Just because you personally think the game is crap, does NOT by any means, means the game is indeed crap.  It isn't what YOU wanted it to be.  Others may like it, may love it, may be waiting on it to get to the place it should be.  Darkfall came a long ways itself.  It takes time to make a good game, not hopefull wishes.

I, unfortunately, am a sucker. I, among some friends, bought the limited edition loot bag. Wow. What a waste of money on this garbage. I understand the game is "beta." That excuse doesn't hold much water anymore but anyway...

I bought the game. I accept I made a mistake. I was scammed and I will NOT be trying to do a chargeback as it was my own fault for buying this garbage. My advice to anyone considering this game... stay away. Support Darkfall instead. I was a huge opponent of Darkfall but after buying the game it's simply much better and you will not get scammed. I really wish Mortal Online gets on its feet at some point but I just do not see that happening.

In short, stay away from Starvault and Mortal Online. I continue to wait to receive my limited edition loot bag in the mail. I suspect I'll be waiting a while.

Regardless, the people supporting the game will use the excuse "it's beta." Wrong. It's beta/release now. The game will release in its current state. You cannot deny that the game is missing... quite a bit. The world is completely empty, mechanics are broken. If you want to play a game like Mortal Online, I highly recommend Darkfall or Age of Chivalry (Team Fortress 2 FREE mod). Mortal Online may be a game to look at a year from now, but right now it's simply not it.

    Hahaha look at you man...

You say "go support Darkfall", If you had any idea how Darkfall was when it first came out, maybe, just maybe you wouldnt be ignorant enough to post garbage like this.

    Darkfall:

    • People paid for Beta - Fact
    • Full of bugs - Fact
    • Full of exploits - Fact
    • Full of Hackers - Fact
    • Missing content ( which was promised on time of release ) - Fact

    • A year into DFO and it's a decent game - Fact

    Mortal Online:

    • Free Beta ( Unless you were unpatient and wanted CBT ) - Fact
    • Full of bugs - Fact
    • Full of exploits - Probably
    • Full of Hackers  - Probably
    • Missing content ( Which MO has already stated will be missing on release ) - Fact

    • A year into MO and it's a decent game - Probably

Darkfall was utter crap when it came out, MO might be too, but i will give it a chance, in the FREE BETA.

And now you guys who played CBT come on here, and have a swing at MO, just like you did with Darkfall, and tell us that this game is doomed, and noone should invest in it.

    Beazt
