you think MO is exploit free?!?!?! LOL I logged on MO for 3 minutes to test it out and found 8 dupes without even trying for the most part(and this was really recent). So please stop being such a fanboy.
You didn't hear? The miracle patch is going to fix everything that the last 8 months have not fixed. They have done more in 2 weeks than they have in 8 months. Replacing the placeholders (90% of the current version), making sure no one can exploit (lol), adding a ton of new content (ie remove invisible lines), and fix all of the bugs and server lag!
But on a serious note. I will be surprised if the patch is actually released on the 22nd as all of the patches they have released in the past have been 1 - 4 days delayed.
Honestly; things like this is why I don't buy "Collector's editions" There's just nothing worth "Collecting" from a MMORPG. The last thing I need to be reminded of is that I spent $120 on a game and then an additional $15 a month paying for it when I'm too old and decrepit to wipe my own rear end =P
6 months of game time would have been nice, it might have been worth the extra $70 spent.

Totally agree. Limited editions should just include a time card and a "Thank you, Sucker!" Note. Nobody will know the difference anyway.. Maybe an in-game title like "The Gullible"

There are no titles in MO wonder what else they would get....
I picked up the WAR collector's box at Half Priced Books for $20 and it was definitely worth every penny. The art book alone was worth more than that. It is excellent, 225 pages of full color fantasy art goodness. The graphic novel is hardbound as well, and pretty nice as well. The lead figure I could care less about. I don't mind paying for if they include a nice artbook like that. I am just not in to the action figures and cloth maps, they just collect dust.
Shhhh. The more people who know about that place means there will be fewer bargains to be found. Well, except for the actual used stuff.

From my own pocket. Really, ~ $120 is like what? Eating out with a good beer/wine aside lol. Well, for me it was worth it, and I am no millionaire. But I spend more money than that when going out having fun with my pals. So yeah, for me it was worth it. If you can't afford it, don't buy it?
I make a good living, but no way in hell id be pleased if that piece of sh%t came in the mail and I had spent 120 bucks on it.

Anyway, MO is a bit costly, but DFo's DD wasn't cheaper.
Didn't even offer any promo prices before it went gold.
Except DF when they start selling the game was 3 times better than MO now.
Except that with DF you couldn't buy the game unless you were lucky and had time to be on the website at a specific time and purchase one of the limited copies. Except that Darkfall was released when you could buy the game (remember MO is still in testing) and was exploit city. With the lack of a skillcap, there are characters right now who got a significant headstart by exploiting and are still reaping the benefits.
You could actually buy it before launch...................it's after release that they shut the shop.
When I preordered DF the game was pretty much the same it is now, bar the huge exploits you mention in your post, which sadly enough gave the advantages to some people like you mentioned.
But apart this huge hole in their code (which was unforgiveable), the rest of the game was pretty much playable and almost complete.
In beta I could do everything in DF, PVEing, PvPing, Crafting, Sieging, and the game run smooth all the time except the first couple of weeks after launch when the server sometimes went out of sink, creating some lag (never as bad as MO now).
Add to this the client never ever crashes, unlike the MO which crashes ever 5-10 minutes, and you have the real picture of the issue.
MO has been selling pre-orders since September, and the state MO is in now, it is 10 times worse than DF when they start selling the pre-orders.
So I am judging the 2 games in a pre-order vs pre-order situation, and DF was definetly much better then.
There is absolutly nothing that could ever ship as a game and be worth $118. Even if it had fancy little figures and a full art book, it isn't worth over $50 that I'd pay for any game.
I've never understood the "collector's edition" situation and the fact that there are people who will pay for them, no matter what the game.
that's really pathetic just like the game and company, seriously going to fail
Lol, relly good post mate! Troll more?
be more of a fanboy show me anything that SV has done right so far, show me anything in MO that is complete and not buggy/placeholder please? The game is weeks from release and everyone knows it's going to fail. SV are way too inexperienced in programming to save the game.
Good you cleared that out for me!
I am not more of a fanboy than I like the game, and I am really looking forward to it even more when they have had the time to polish it a bit. The funniest thing is that I recognize all this threads and hate regarding anothe similar game some time ago. It was doomed as well, but it seems it is pretty ok theese days (atleast regarding to some).
Why not keep it informative/constructive instead of just beeing a hater with no context in your posts?
Referring to DF? I've played DF since launch and still play. Did it have a bad launch? Yes. Did it at least have content? Yes. Is it picking up? Yes.
MO is in a 1000x worse of a situation right now than DF was in and honestly I don't think they can pull out of it, would be cool if they did. Their concept is good and would be good for sandbox MMO's, but from what I've seen since block A it will take years for it to get polished.
Often I disagree with whats posted here but gotta somewhat agree here. DF although you couldnt buy it was better off at launch than what MO is now. In regards to this thread they should have had a digital download only and told people screaming for a box to jump off a cliff if this is the best they can deliver.
Better launch? What are you smoking? DF had an awful launch, from payment processing, to *many* overcharges, to an unfinished game. MO seems to be in a similar state. When it gets to that point, there is no 'better than', just bad.

I've never understood the "collector's edition" situation and the fact that there are people who will pay for them, no matter what the game.
Its because if their friends come over they can show them the box and try to be cool

I would rather have those payment problems than having an incomplete and broken alpha game at launch. But remember the miracle patch in 3 days is going to fix that

too bad no one will be able to play it on the 22nd knowing SV so push that to 5 days min

$120 for a good night out? WTF?If your spending $120 on a beer, I have some "fine wine"(moonshine) I'll sell ya for $500 then.

It is not hard to spend $120 on a good night out at the club, especially if you are hammered or buying a few rounds of shots for your friends.

Fixed that for ya. :-D We all knew what you meant.
I agree it's not hard to spend $120 on a good night out.
Does that make this "Collector's Edition" worth $120 though? All I have to say to that is: you must not know how to spend your money wisely if you think it is. Millionair or Hobo, it's not worth $120 and I don't care who you are. For $120 you expect at least a little quality and unpainted, unfinished figurines isn't quality.......................... wait.............. we're talking about people buying collector's editions to Mortal Online aren't we? Nvm. makes sense now.
Yes, I was referring to DF. But not game vs game. I was referring to all the haters, all the trolling, all "AV will fail", DF is sh*it, and so on. What I meant was that DF obviously made it, and are getting better and better. So I was no comparinf the game, nor the quality or the launch. Just that I recognize all the threads now regarding MO, and the threads were all the same for DF before. Thats all!
You know what the biggest difference was? Darkfall was a secret... so people could honestly argue about waiting for launch to find the truth. Mortal Online is in Open Beta so everyone can login and make informed statements about the state of the "game". People who don't like MO don't have to make anything up. They simply tell prospective players to download (or try to) the Open Beta and have a look....
It's funny.. because usually it's people that support a game who urge people to try it. Here is it people who don't like the game, while the supporters urge people to hold off for 6 months...
But all will be well in a week. On the 22nd we shall finally have the last large patch before release and get to see exactly what the launch product will be! Have faith!
I was in DF Beta and honestly it was really bad- After following and dreaming about that game for YEARS (I think my forum acct is 05 or 06) I was totally disapointed- I nerdraged and QQed over cut features and it was probably the biggest dissapointment I have ever had in gaming.
I was in MO Beta (the open beta- last week) and it was so extremly bad that it made the darkfall beta look like the a Blizzard game 3 months after release- Seriously, t'was unplayable even after the DAYS it took doing 33 fixes on the Patcher.- I was not disapointed, because I will never get myself hyped up on a game again.
Now I am waiting to try Craft of Gods this week which hopefully will be at least playable... If not I have decided to go back to DF, admit I was a bitch for /ragequitting and try to catch up lol.
SV ia really doing a very poor job here on a million levels and if they Launch in the next 3 months it will be a disaster that has potential to go down in gaming history.
118 for that? And the boxes are the same boxes as the regular ones with a sticker on them (to prove its "limited edition")- WOW.... Thee Bag would make a cool dice bag or stash bag though.... It actually looks cool- Just not 118 dollars cool.
You guys do realize that MO took less time to develop than DF right? You're comparing a game that took 4+ years more to get an open beta over the other. Just look at it this way, if MO had the same amount of time to be developed, there would be no comparison. Its getting pushed out earlier than expected, but still the feed back from MO dev is so much better. IDK maybe you guys like listening to Tasos' BS through the years. You dont really hear a lot of "BOASTING" coming from MO devs. Even as it gets pushed out earlier than expect, there's always still time to grow, just like DF did.

What is the value of an object to a variety of different individuals from different situations and backgrounds?
Water in the middle of the ocean, sand in the middle of the desert... A handcrafted chess set of gold and pewter, 2 signature piece with onyx table...
Selling for $125,000 on ebay.
Check it out, it looks like a nice chess set... for someone who would want it.
LINK
Why would someone want a CE of a game? Why wouldn't someone want a CE of a game?
The answers to both those questions carry the same amount of weight, and are equally right... depending on where you stand.
Funny thing is I still have my lord blackthorn figurine from when I bought UO years ago......
Note to everyone. Don't buy limited editions box sets. The figurines aren't that cool...
And yes, they do collect ALOT of dust...
Someone dig up my post, I told you this game was going to be Gankware.
not yet >.
