The only thing I'm dissapointed with, other than the constant influx of threads bashing a game that isn't out yet, is the fact that I have to wait another year before I can play the game to determine wether or not I'm dissapointed with it.
"If I'd asked my customers what they wanted, they'd have said a faster horse." - Henry Ford
Isn't the game still in Alpha? So what exactly is there to hate? Or did they announce the trailers as gameplay footage from the final client/build etc and they are just going to piddle around for another year or so?
Nothing at all... it must have been us (the Haters) who missed the "Not Final Build Gameplay Footage You Are Not Allowed To Have Negative Opinions" sign on all gameplay footage and interviews. Must have been in really fine print... sorry just ignore us.
Right now I can't decide if I'm disappointed with the game or the company.
For instance : so far there has not been 1 word or picture of Space Combat. To have a game like Star Wars without it is perfectly insane so it must be there somewhere and They just aren't talking about it. Why? Is it some big secret and they are going to have a big press conference 'Reveal' of it? That's just stupid. I'm beginning to think that maybe Bioware is doing a great game but that EA 'suits' have some bizaar 'content reveal stratagy/publicity' schedual that is just screwing it all up.
So right now I'm pretty disappointed. For all this time and money and the IP, I should at least see: animations that are better than Aions, combat that is better than Conan, environments that are better than Lord of the Rings. So far I haven't. Is it Bioware that is so arrogant/ignorant about the MMO world that they aren't doing any of this or is it EA that is so arrogant that they just aren't showing it yet ?
How many times have we seen this corporate publicity nonsense mess things up for a game? Sony screwed up one Star Wars game, maybe EA will screw this one up.

Oh, so your not allowed to criticise anything, well that's bad. I'll remember that next time.
Actually it's true, you can't say anything bad about a game here anymore, cause if you do, then it's trolling, or baiting people to response in a negative way..
I got temp banned for telling a guy that Aion on had 1 instance at lvl 50, and that it can only be entered once a day, and the rest of the time he will spend grinding guards in the eye.

Hello, I've just watched the newest videos where you see group play (Smuggler and Trooper, Sith Warrior and Sith Inquiz, Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent) and I feel disappointed with this game now becauser all the main characters you play as all have British accents which is strange (I know I'm British myself but I would have thought there would be more American accents for this game) and I have to admit the character design is really bad.
You would have thought the Twi'lek Smuggler would have a different model design but instead she looks like they have just altered the female Human design and made her green with head tails. And the dialogue, it's terrible, I was really expecting better but I think I'll pass on this game.
So who else here feels disappointed with the game?
How is one dissapointed in a game thats not out for 10 more months?
Can we save these posts for a month after release?

I agree with these guys. Im sure there will be things that I would have liked to have seen done differently but will not know until trying it out to see how it all comes together. This game and perhaps GW2 I will be taking a hard look at since I will be without an MMO for a few months at that time do to LOTRO going F2P. There is no perfect game for anyone, let alone everyone.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
Isn't the game still in Alpha? So what exactly is there to hate? Or did they announce the trailers as gameplay footage from the final client/build etc and they are just going to piddle around for another year or so?
TL;DR What did I miss?
I think you can speak of a "Hater" if someone can only post and accept negative aspects of a game, not admit good traits a game has, and keeps posting those grievances again and again in the forums of the game which that poster heavily dislikes.
Ironically enough, some of those same "hater" posters in the same way cannot accept or admit any negative traits of the game they favor, or acknowledge any value in the criticism of other posters about that game. I find that typical kind of 'haters' ridiculous and their opinions of little value, since they've already shown how utterly biased they are in their viewpoints. But that's me.
So, some (certainly not all) of those posters that love to hate/trash one game are at the same time dedicated 'fanbois' of another game. In fact, in their hate for one game as well as in their fanboism for another game they exhibit the same trait, namely only being able to discuss from a black or white viewpoint.
Basically, 'haters' and 'fanbois' are all of the same kind of group: lovers of extreme stances with little flexibility of mind to see or acknowledge other viewpoints' worth.
Then again, some people love to throw around the 'fanboi' or 'hater' tag at the merest sign of enthusiasm or criticism of a game.
Personally I'm in favor of more balanced viewpoints, more sense and rationality in it.
... oh, and you didn't miss much, just the usual mmorpg.com forum pooha.

Oh and yes I never had much expectation because Pre-CU was the type of game I prefer.. not its not a rant .. original Ultima Online was the type of game I prefer as well.
I knew TOR was not going to be based in the type of play I prefer.. but I may still like it .. who knows.. hard to say yet.
I'm reserving my judgements til I actually play the game. Reviews and videos are all great, but you never know how a game plays unless you actually play it. I'm actually still a bit excited about the title.
Agreed. its hard to reach an accurate conclusion about a product based on so little detailed information. Like you, until I see actual details about the other elements of the game that we haven't seen yet, then I'm reserving judgement.

I can't say that I'm disappointed in TOR. I'm kind of watching the hypemonster go insane among the star wars fanbase and am thinking that no game will ever be able to deliver on the expectations. One thing that does concern me is that it seems heavily oriented towards a single player experience. I know that single player games are bioware's forte, but I'm not sure how well that will play with the MMORPG crowd.

And as you will notice on these forums, it doesn't play well with part of the MMORPG crowd at least here, there's already a number who have judged SW TOR and condemned it to being a singleplayer game, not a MMO.
I guess we'll find out what the truth is when the beta arrives.

I loved KOTOR 1 and 2 and I'm thrilled with everything I've seen so far in this game. Not disappointed in the least.
Except Kotor 1 and 2 weren't MMORPGs in the slightest, and its unlikely that this will be either, yet it will still carry a monthly fee.
If this game were Kotor 3, or a full fledged MMO, I would be happy. But making a mostly single player game with tacked on coop, and adding a monthly fee and calling it an MMO just rubs me wrong in so many ways.
I can't say I'm disappointed about it. I don't have high expectations for it anyway. I expect it at least to be a BioWare RPG with multiplayer posibilities and that for itself is something I'm looking forward to. I always dreamed of being able to play the KotOR series with my brother or some friends and now I'll get my chance to do it. Awesome.

When the game is in my grubby hands is when I'l come to these boards and discuss if I'm disappointed or if it's a good MMO.
However by the looks of things I'l have an easy time getting myself a copy of the game with so many ppl not wanting to play, for various reasons, though had to laugh about one of them being about accents ^^, now thats scrapping the barrel a bit hah.

An MMO where you take an active role in the story is still bloody awesome. Perhaps it seems less insanely good now only because GW2 is also doing it.
I don't see how this game isn't living up to what the Devs have said at all. They never said it was going to be the best thing that ever could be. They didn't say it was going to shatter the core of MMOs, unlike what you said. They did say MMOs have done a crap job at story and they are changing that important aspect (and if that's shattering the core to you, then ToR IS doing that).
Yeah, a lot of the mechanics are going to be MMO-like mechanics...because it is an MMO. It's going to go with an interface that works and other things that work. What's wrong with that?
Honestly, what gets most tiring is the people who attack ToR based on features that haven't had details released yet. That's the silliest thing to do a year before release.
Oh, and I can name something I am disappointed with, and two things I could be disappointed with ToR about.
GW2 has an awesome "react to the game" system for at least some of its quests. If you come across a town under attack, then you can help or do nothing. If you do nothing the town will get destroyed and taken over by monsters. You pick up the quest by reacting to the world. That's awesome stuff. Maybe it is unfair to be disappointed ToR doesn't have that, but it's such a cool mechanic that it is disappointing to me.
If, despite what we've seen and heard, it ends up have the over-specialized Holy Trinity where Consulars just spam heals and do nothing else, Jedi Tanks don't deal much damage, etc, then I probably won't play the game. That goes against the details of what they've said about group combat though.
If they don't have some public quests or public quest areas, then I'll be disappointed. Hopefully the mechanics won't punish anyone for helping out someone that isn't in your party as well (again, like GW2).
That said, the Story thing IS still huge. We're just more used to it now.
Edit: Oh, I am also disappointed when they say stuff is "like WoW with a twist." Well, that's an awful thing to say. Not because it might be inaccurate, but because the twist is really important. WoW has a number of mechanics that bore me. Craft-by-Numbers that has no room for creativity or customization is something I really dislike (as well as the crafting grind). However, a twist or two could completely change that. Hence, the twist is so critically important that just saying "WoW with a twist" is at best unhelpful and at worst misleading people into thinking it is more WoW-like than it is.

I expect it at least to be a BioWare RPG with multiplayer posibilities and that for itself is something I'm looking forward to. I always dreamed of being able to play the KotOR series with my brother or some friends and now I'll get my chance to do it. Awesome.
This !!!
I'm disappointed... that it isn't out yet...
Hurry Bioware! Gimme gimme gimme!!!
Thats what I was going to say....
still disappoint
