I haven't been disappointed by anything I've seen yet. The last video that had the short scene and then the combat against the invading droids in fact proved to me that I'm going to love the game. Everything just felt like Star Wars. The Mon-Calamari was cool, I kept waiting for "It's a trap!", but I wasn't disappointed he didn't say it. The sounds alone put me right into 'This IS Star Wars' mode. I can't help but be excited about this one, despite the nay sayers.
Hello, I've just watched the newest videos where you see group play (Smuggler and Trooper, Sith Warrior and Sith Inquiz, Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent) and I feel disappointed with this game now becauser all the main characters you play as all have British accents which is strange (I know I'm British myself but I would have thought there would be more American accents for this game) and I have to admit the character design is really bad.
You would have thought the Twi'lek Smuggler would have a different model design but instead she looks like they have just altered the female Human design and made her green with head tails. And the dialogue, it's terrible, I was really expecting better but I think I'll pass on this game.
So who else here feels disappointed with the game?
Not I. There's no way I can be disappointed with any game until I actually play it.
I'm a little disappointed after receiving today's e-mail and watching the group combat. I thought they said they were getting rid of the Holy Trinity in this game or did I mis-read something?
Guess I'll still be waiting for an MMO that gets rid of that stupid system. Tank, Heal, DPS. Great
You want some sort of reinvention of the wheel and it's been proven before, in many games, that the holy trinity works because it gives each player a role in combat, rather than everyone having multi-purpose characters that just ends up as a big DPS fest.
It's not even out yet. I refuse to comment on the quality of the game until I actually play it. I hope they have some sort of trial when the game comes out, though.
To be honest, I'm surprised that companies haven't begun offering a "Very Limited Trial" at launch (say 2 days worth). That would also address issues with players trying to do "chargebacks" on MMOs when they find that the game aint for them. And the limitation on the trial would mean that people couldn't burn through the games content and not pay.
I agree, most games that come out have a demo available to play before you spend money onthe game. I guess the MMO genre feels they're above that... or they fear the word of mouth spreading about their products at launch, but I think in this day and age, everyone expects all launches to be bumpy.. but not cause a flat tire
I haven't really been keeping strack of SW: TOR, but I did watch the latest multiplayer trailer. Personally, I liked what I saw and while, for me, it is still to early to tell if I will be buying this game or not and how it will ultimately turn out the trailer itself did not put me off the game by any means. I liked the way the graphics looked, and while it is kind of the same traditional Tank, DPS, healer, etc. etc. setup I still feel like it is a game that I might end up jumping into, for now anyways.
How can you be dissapointed with a game you have never played....
I mean serisouly the emotional highs and lows you are taking yourself through its like you've already installed the game, started playing, then got through it and are now trolling it.
Go outside, hell stay inside, play something else, get your minds off of it.
Its going to come out, its going to be what it is when it does, and thats that.
Its like all the speculation of where is Lebron James going next year...oohh aahh, hey he goes where he goes, and there isnt jack you can do about it much like the game. Instead of focusing so much hate and disdain toward something you really dont know how it plays, why not turn that energy into something positive and beautiful and actually *gasp* enjoy something.
Thank you for sitting under my tree of wisdom

Funny enough i am of the opinion that you can't be dissapointed with somethign that isn't even out yet and won't be for about a year.. until it's out calm down and relax, take ALL info good or bad with a pinch of salt and see what happens for beta or release.
Heh, I honestly dont understand why people are surprised. It is ok to be dissapointed that TOR is mostly a WOW clone, but the people being surprised by this really surprise me. It will cost a 100 million dollars, it will be polished, and of course it will be as mass market and accessible as possible. It will also be pretty good for a month, and who knows, maybe when we finally hear / see about their end game it might even be worth hanging around after the first month!
I, too, am baffled by this sudden wave of folks claiming disappointment over a game that won't be out for 9 months or so. It's almost as if too many folks are investing their personal futures in the success or failure of this (or, really, any) game.
you watched a few videos and you just made up your mind about the game. it's got a year till release, plenty of things are going to change by then. the Twi'lek looked fine. what do you want then to look like? they look the same as any other starwars game/movie. maybe is everybody didn't hype the game up and expect it to be some ground braking new MMO that's going to blow everything else away they wouldn't be so disappointed. like the whole raiding thing, i heard about how there won't be any set role in a dungeon (like healer, DPS, tank) and then BOOM out comes a video and guess what you see? a tank running around being healed by a healer and 2 DPS's doing their thing. haven't seen that before. then of course you see the flood of rants about how it's the same as any other MMO. imho, this is an instanced mess. it's KOTOR3 with good multiplayer.
::sniffles:: I am not allowed to discuss my issues with the game because I have been labeled a hater of it. ::sigh:: On these boards we're not allowed to voice our concerns and criticisms - unless you wish to be labeled a hater.
Im still wondering why am I not being called a hater yet, tho Im criticising some of the aspects a lot ..
But whatever...well since Im very gpx oriented I was dissapointed the first time a saw a screenshot...But thats some time ago and after the last explosion of my angryness on this game I started to look at it from the bright side
KOTOR 3 is going to be released and thats all I care about:))
+the stories might be interesting (tho I expect it only from the main storyline - the rest will be kill ten pigs VOed most probably)
But yeah you could say Im quite dissapointed with the rest:(
But time fixes everything I gues:D
I'm pretty sure it'll be kill 10 boars, actually lol.
oh and also, you're that guy that said all other companys should just give up on their MMO because WoW is better. so i can't really take you seriously.
I, too, am baffled by this sudden wave of folks claiming disappointment over a game that won't be out for 9 months or so. It's almost as if too many folks are investing their personal futures in the success or failure of this (or, really, any) game.
Its aint sudden, most of them are longer here (since first footage video) and there are getting more after they get more info.
I hope for BioWare that when they finaly show us the "MMO" aspect of the game they can turn around and show us why its worth to pay monthly sub for this game (besides being KOTOR 3 with graphic of KOTOR 1).
the gameplay looks like a standard mmorpg, nothing special, nothing what anyone can call 'revolutionary'! but bioware never said something like this, they just say:
"yo dawg, we focus nao on story in an online game! (mmorpg). this is it!!11"
but i think this can be anything and i think also, it is a huge mistake to lay the focus in a online game on story and singleplayer.
well, and lucasarts ruin the game cuz of bad taste. look at this textures, look at those body proportions, watch the combat animations in the videos... the visual apperance is very important! or would you visit a playground completely nude?

There seem to be an equal number of people that are determined to defend the game as if they are personally working on it and see anyone that finds it to be disappointing to be a personal attack against them.
I think ToR has a very unfortunate release date, for the past couple of years we haven't really seen much new or at least new and done well. But in the following year there are high hopes in the next breed of MMO's and where they are trying something a little different trying to offer dynamic worlds or more skill based combat or CGI style graphics and amazing vissuals. While ToR is looking to add story and VO this is perhaps something the more traditional MMO player likes but doesn't see as vital. Cause MMO's are ment to carry on after the scripted story has finished unlike single player experience but this makes game play and the open world far more important than instanced stories and now repeative VO.
And so I think people are wondering if come Spring 2011 and 180 million dollars just what Bioware will have to show for all that. Will it be very similar to a game that came out in 2005 and people have played to death? Will a great IP and a well respected Studio have created another WAR. And perhaps most disapointing of all if the game is a massive sucess and the two biggest MMO's around are WoW and SWTOR will this doom any future MMO's to being clones. After all investors aren't going to be happy with companies looking to be innovotive and offer ground breaking combat and breath taking graphics if this has proven to be less popular than auto facing combat and cartoonish graphics. So perhaps the disappointment is more that this game may well cast the mold of things to come and it doesn't appear to be seeking to bring anything new to the gameplay of the MMO.

They have you can have a group with no main healer charachter, this is not the only video out there. LOts of variations and options available group wise including the support charachters everyone has.
Taking one example and being dissapointed is very narrow minded, but then i guess some people are not interested in context, just any opportunity to nit pick for no good reason.
Well first this is the only thing I have been disappointed in and this is actually my first negative post that really isn't even negative. I was just hoping to find a game that gets away from the trinity formula (which doesn't allow for more varied game play). It's good to know that this won't be the only way to play the characters though.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

Why is it a stupid system? And yes I think you missed or misunderstood something.
What would you replace the trinity with? It works, it supports grouping, etc.
You can have groups without the trinity. In fact if a trinity was not required, grouping would be even easier. No more LF(insert needed trinity character).

Your thought process and people like you is exactly why MMO's haven't changed in 10 years. We are still getting the exact same games re-skinned. Thanks.

Somewhat yes, I just hope they would show us something that justifies the monthly-fee.
Yeah, I have to agree with laglotus.

I'm probably one of those people who just get wet.
Frequent version updates?
I guess he was talking about what makes the game worth the monthly fee aside from the game updates.
Can't make a pacman, add new maps every month and ask for a fee. Just saying.

Is it gonna suck? Is it gonna rock? More likely somewhere in the middle but I really dont know. Check back with me a month or two after launch.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
Bioware never said they are revolutionizing anything? IDK where people get this stuff, haha.
