LOL obviously you both have no clue what you are talking about. Aion 2 with manual aim is TERA not Rift.
Rift is being made by Trion worlds not NcSoft 2 aka Bluehole Studios.
The game is not Korean made.
They said looks, the gameplay hopefully will be very different.
My concern is that John Van Caneghem jumped the ship last year, he is actually somewhat of a genius and I hope he did what he should before leaving. Ok, his biggest invention was Heroes of might and magic, I still love those games.
This game is worth to keep an eye out for even if I am not sure how big it really will become. But time will tell. Sure is that it isn't another Aion.
I'm not sure why everybody needs their next game to be the next "big game". What does it matter if the game you are playing has a smaller community then the one in SW:TOR?
Honestly if the game is good when it comes out word of mouth will spread and people will play it. On the otherhand if they overhype it and maybe its missing one of the advertised features people will rip it apart for not having this or that.
People like this are the ones voting and that's why Rift is only at 8.17. People take a look at it, read on word and say "It's like this game for sure." People listen to someone's opinion and make their opinion their own even if they never played the game or actually don't know a lot about it.
Rift has been marketed well, they have been at a lot of conventions with an amazing looking booth. You can find it in Magazines, it's on here and it's hyped pretty well (besides the people who call everything a clone). I think Guild Wars 2 is known better because the original Guild Wars had a lot of people anyways, so that is part of the marketing I suppose. There was an original Star Wars MMO as well and I think that's how a lot of people are seeing those 2. Basically, both Guild Wars 2 and ST:TOR are already known and already have a big fanbase behind them because of the original ones.

I am fine with RIFT not being absolutely HUGE or some "WoW killer" (I know bad analogy)
I just want the game to be great and sustainable. And it bothered me that the game isnt as well known because it looks like such an amazing game. Seems to be coming in under the radar, just a bit.
But as other posters have said, that could be there strategy. Thats ok though, because at the end of the day people play what they enjoy and if a mmoer drops one game, he is most likely going to look for another to fill its place.
I think the game is not well known because the developer/publisher is not well known (though it grabbed few big names in its team). Trion Worlds doesn't even have a page on Wiki! They are developing 2 MMO titles which they are the publisher and they are going to publish a third game.
I think their name will depend on how Rift is doing. I admit that it's looking very good right now with reviewers reporting they had a very stable version running at Gamescom 2010... And we're at least 6 months before release... Compared to those MMOs released in an non-functional state....
As you discerned correctly, the hype score on this site doesn't really tell you a lot.
I do think RIFT isn't very well known and that is not really a big surprise either, they don't have a big name behind it and they also (forgive me for saying it fans), don't really seem to have a feature that jumps out of there, which can grab people by the throats such as cinematic storyline or dynamic events.
What they could do (if they have the money), is perhaps invest in an awesome cinematic trailer, while that doesn't really say a lot about ingame content of course, it is a very effective marketing tool.
Otherwise, they could also put out a very shiny showing, we have seen what a couple of impressive boss fights did for GW2, if they have some impressive content of that sort to show, I would put that into a demo...
...
And if that doesn't work, well... boobs always sell
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

Well actually, IMO of course. Rift may not be well known right off the bat, but they are making a fantasy game off a brand new IP and they are doing it right. You always here everyone say "oh like we need another fantasy MMO" Honestly, yes I want another one that is GOOD not garbage that fails within a year. Sure a lot of fantasy MMOs have come out post WoW, but how many were successful? Lotro? Guildwars? a few others mixed in there.
Rift is going will have all of the standard MMO features that we have come to know through games I just mentioned. People/players like things that they know and that are accesible. Why do you think WoW has millions of players. It is easily accessible and a lot of people can get into that. So even if Rift does not get hyped beyond belief beforehand once people start playing it the word will pass to others "hey there is this game Rift that looks awesome and is real easy to get into and a lot of fun" blah blah it could be anything like that.
As stated before it is going to have all of the familiar MMO features in it, but it will also have dynamic events and content. People seems to be overlooking it because that is Guild Wars 2's most used word combination is "Dynamic Content". Sure the dynamic content will probably not be to the extent of GW2, but it is there none the less.
In reference to boobs sell in case some of you did not catch it at Gamescom the Trion booth had several beautiful young ladies dressed as if they were characters from Rift.
Well imo it just looks like a wow clone.. I mean.. the rifts, that's basically just world design. Nothing interesting there. Then there's the build system which pretty cool but it doesn't actually affect the game play (nice for theory crafting though). What other stuff does the game offer that has not been seen before? I'm not trying to troll, but honestly let me know if I missed something.

Fantasy game. Check. Nice UI. Check. That is a WoW clone for sure.
Rifts that randomly spawn and over take and physically change the area before your eyes. They can also overun camps/villages if they are not dealt with. Yes, there is most certainly content like that in WoW.
Multi-soul system. Having the abiltiy to pick and choose a combination of 3 souls from your 8 soul calling. Yes WoW has that too no?
Dungens and instances change and unlock more difficult and explorable areas inside them as you grow in levels. Darn I think WoW even has that too.
To be more serious the WoW clone crap is getting so old. What I stated above are three of the more main features in Rift and WoW has none of them.
Don't get me wrong I was an avid WoW player for years. It's just the fact that the games have some very distinct differences, but in that same breathe share many things common to the MMO genre.
my concern is about the invisible classes, if there exist dont gonna play this game
You get ganked too many times in another mmo?
Because it DOES have invisible classes, I will play, nothing like stealthers to add some extra excitement!!
I just think stealth is for cowards, and gankers of course, i can understand "some" people like it and here come the QQ etc... if someone say something again they superpower (killing whitout risk)

I agree with you 100%. However, that's an argument that, with a good many people around these parts, you'll never win.

So my first guess was right, you got ganked too many times.
What mmos did you play where they had stealther classes?
Have you ever played one? Personally I find that style of pvp a blast and I am in no way a coward.
I could call you a coward for rolling a tank class. Why are you going with the class that has the most HP out of any class? Why do you have a shield?
Why do you choose healing classes? Maybe your a coward. I cant heal but you can? Thats not fair.
Obviously, I am being sarcastic. The point I am trying to make, all classes have there strengths and weaknesses and they usually balance eachother out. Let me give you a small example. There doesnt exist in an mmo a class that has all strenghts and no weaknesses. There is no caster/melle/tank/healer/stealther.
Healers usually tend to be soft or susceptible to silences etc.
Tanks usually tend to be kiteable to some extent.
Casters are also soft and a bit mobile because they cant tank the dmg, and they cant heal themselves of dmg.
See how that balances out?
Now in comes the stealther/Rogue/thief. He has to hit from melee. Would it be fair in a pvp fight if he didnt have stealth? He cant heal the dmg while coming at you, he cant take the dmg like a tank does and he doesnt have the range of a caster. What does he have? Stealth.
Would you expect a mage to do all his dmg within melee range? That would be ridiculous! He would get eaten alive. If stealthers didnt have stealth they would be like a mage without range or a tank without heavy armor.

Yes I know what you're talking about but when it comes to actual game play, I mean when you're actually playing the game. Will these things really add so much to the game that it doesn't just feel like the same old with minor tweaks?

MMORPG is a type of game. They play a certain way. They have some simiilar elements to them all. Like I am not sure what you are getting at. There is not going to be some ground breaking change to MMORPGs. That is like saying you are getting bored with shooting in FPS games.
Scott Hartsman from Rift has also stated on several occasions that the game will be a different experience for every player who is in the world. I will find the source sometime, but too tired right now ha.
If you want to make the Anet is breaking new ground with GW2 argument my simple response is that Rift is doing something similiar just not quite to the extent of GW. GW2 also got rid of the trinity many liek that, but a lot of people that liked playing soley healers are not exactly pleased with it.

Depends on the mindset you take into the game. You could swear up and down that it does and to me it's nowhere near the same. Based on talking to people who've played the game, well, WoW never came up once in the conversation. Course, if WoW is what you know and are familiar with, then, well, you might make that comparison. *shrug*
The rift system, the flexibility of the Soul (class) System got my interest. It's just a matter of delivering a phighly polished game. Well, Trion seems to be doing that as well so I should have lots of fun. As to whether you'll be saying "that's like WoW, and that's like WoW, and that's like WoW" every 5 minutes should you get a chance to try it...who knows. We can't answer that for you. Only you can.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."

Hehehe, pay very close attention to information about the Inquisitor (Cleric Calling) and a few other none Cleric Calling Souls. I wouldn't say Trion has exactly "embraced" the Trinity either. *wink*

Thats the "problem" with lots of gamers these days the RPG in MMORPG is kinda dead to most.....i bet not 50% can tell me the story that goes on in wailing caverns in wow......i dare 50% of the wow players to telle me the story behind WC in wow....
What i am trying to say is that even IF the gameplay of both games are almost the same.....the story isnt.
As for getting realy technical as in "i want new stuff".
lets say they took the good think from wow.....playability...they added these (dynamical) rifts who are not just temporary....no if you dont kill the settlement where the rift is......IT STAYS THERE.
To me its wow with NEW features........and i mean that in a good way.......wow is one hell of a game (i still play it since release......but i follow more stories then most wow player because of my RolePlaying nature).
So wow with new classes (and combined system), dynamic rifts, imo better GFX and a fiew other new features this will be the wow killer for ME.

Oh i know all about the inquisitor. It is in the Cleric calling, but funny thing is it does not have one healing spell (to heal allies). It can however heal itself. It uses ranged death oriented magic and also acts as a debuffer excelling at one on one combat. Not quite sure how that side steps the trinity because the other 7 Cleriic souls are healing oriented with a bit of a twist added to each soul.

Lol, yeah the classes do look great and honestly everything about this game looks better than anything else I've seen in a long time. I'm also an EQ 1 vet and there really hasn't been anything else that has come along the way that gave me the initial experience it did for it's time. I started to get that with the new FF beta that some of us have been playing here but even that game just doesn't do it for me. I'm looking forward too a game world with less cartoony graphics such as WoW and something that has great spell effects along with well thought out classes.

my concern is about the invisible classes, if there exist dont gonna play this game

The cake is still a lie.
You get ganked too many times in another mmo?
Because it DOES have invisible classes, I will play, nothing like stealthers to add some extra excitement!!
I just think stealth is for cowards, and gankers of course, i can understand "some" people like it and here come the QQ etc... if someone say something again they superpower (killing whitout risk)
I agree with you 100%. However, that's an argument that, with a good many people around these parts, you'll never win.
Keep the faith.

Can I just step in here and say, out of all the things I have seen and heard about RIFT, the Class system has me all types of HORNY.
You know what I mean
yeah hybrids FTW
Lol, yeah the classes do look great and honestly everything about this game looks better than anything else I've seen in a long time. I'm also an EQ 1 vet and there really hasn't been anything else that has come along the way that gave me the initial experience it did for it's time. I started to get that with the new FF beta that some of us have been playing here but even that game just doesn't do it for me.
