I agree with you. Even though I have no problem with people wanting to get into open beta as a sort of free trial, I think that pre-order customers should have had the first shot at getting a key.

Letting pre-order customers get first priority for a beta means forums get flooded with "Paid beta!" whining. I agree even if I haven't preordered, though.

something kinda feels dodgy about this whole "open beta" which makes me wary... for example we got the email 1st september right, well europeans were told 2nd september 2pm GMT (which is of course 3pm in UK time due to BST).

Now the server is overloaded that's fine, figured that would happen.. but i got into the system at 3:40pm. Within 40 minutes of issues with the server, all the supposedly "keys" had gone.

Lets say they had 5,000 european keys. (they probably had much more than that, although "Open Beta" is amusing)

    that's 2 keys per second.

    impressive.

Thing is, no UK store [online or otherwise] has preorder = open beta access. all we had was the key from FF13 which was of course months ago. For a "chance"  in beta.

    hence "dodgy". yeah.

This kind of reminds me of Lockerz global redemptions.

My self I am upset because of the fact that I was an alpha tester from thr 6th stage and "SE" told us on the forums that we didnt need to get a new key. Day of the beta they update there page"Oh where sorry you guys do need to get a key!!

Im sick and having problems with sleeping and have tryed to get a key sense yesterday trying upto 20+ times an hour and people posting times of when they received there keys are similar to the time when i attempted to receive a key . I receive a message saying keys are suspended but yet there are still people getting keys.  Way to fuck over your alpha testers SE ,  Pre-order cancel . Its absolutly a shit fuck of a game with the current problems it had when entering OB from beta 3.

Im over this i think i will wait 6 months for a playable version.

If you havnt gotton your key yet its over all open betas give away a certain number of keys and then they stop.Thats why your getting this message*Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again. *This means that if ever the server gets low pop(which it wont)they will send more keys.See you all on the 22nd!

You should at least attempt to get proper info, before you spout off and end up sounding like a bit of an ass.

"We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update regarding the congestion of the Square Enix Account Management System.

Due to heavy server traffic, we are continuing to experience Square Enix Account Management System congestion. Currently, players may not be able to log into the
FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, or acquire registration codes for the game.

Our technical staff is monitoring the situation closely and working to resolve this issue. As a countermeasure to the congestion, we are currently limiting the acquisition of registration codes for the Open Beta Test. If you cannot acquire a registration code, or if you are unable to access the Square Enix Account Management System, we ask that you please wait and try again later.

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

FYI - It's NOT open beta if you need a key to enter, that would make it a closed beta.

Open beta = open to everyone.

Guess you are new to this!

Open beta means you don't have to be invited, nearly all closed beta games give out keys these days.

professor78 is correct. Anyone who has other views should go play wow and spare us their retardation in new mmo's.

Using the term incorrectly often doesn't make it okay.  Don't worry, I get the feeling all the retards will be in ff14, they've got to go someplace, and almost everything about this game is retarded so far.

    Wrong.

They are having 'server congestion issues' and will reopen 'applications' once they run their mait. cycle.

By giving away a key your not giving any information on your account guy all you have to do is cancel your acount and give the key,its been done in many betas.

One fail attempt to being professional once again.

People waiting in que to get site where they can start pushing their way just to see that there's no keys left. those lucky ones who got the key, they got their own que in loginservers.. hehe, and that's as open as it gets. At least myself im gonna nail my hand to my forehead and just admit im too old for that F5 war once again.

There's no game good enough which is worth my time to go thru that, period. Good luck for those who still trying, im gonna read reviews and maybe try it once hyperwave is over and they are begging ppl to come and play their game before closing up.

'Give me your account' is EXTREMELY different from 'give me your key'. It's simple English.

this is stupid. I cant even key a key to open beta and i pre order a copy since im a fan of ffxi. Why the hell are they going to give away key when its open beta? I thought all open beta was free to test and dosent require key. Now idk if im willing to buy it no more. Sometimes SE really sux.

  • MarknMarkn Member UncommonPosts: 308

They should of just assigned a key to every account that signed up for closed beta and this wouldnt be a problem.
