"Oh and one last thing. Try as I might I cannot get myself to log into WoW. I want to play Rift! Seriously. Rift is such a breath of fresh air. So yeah...I am suffering."
Now your ripping it a new asshole...
OH!!!! I know your freaking pissed about the Pve server thing right? LOL!
One more time...
"I want to play Rift! Seriously. Rift is such a breath of fresh air."
LOL! Yep. I wrote that. I cannot sign into WoW. After playing the Rift the graphics in WoW just look bland. Rift and I say as much in my blog are better in some ways. But they didn't go far enough. Rift has to do it all better. After thinking about it for a bit I decided to write how I feel. It is true. The squirrels in Rift are fugly and lack good animation. That is a sign that maybe more is lacking...what have we not seen yet. I dunno about you, but that sorta scares me. Remember how disappointed it was to find out AoC's end game actually sucked! That was why the developers never let us see it. Because it sucked. BTW - if you like lack-luster and sam-old same-old. Enjoy.
You know i can understand people changing their opinions.
I get that. Maybe someone logs into a game and notices something they didnt before and it strikes a nerve and then its just like an avalanche. Not they dislike the game.
My issue with you is Rift isnt running servers right now.
So what happened in a 24 hour span that got you too change your mind?
My guess is it was the Pve server discussion on this forum and the official forums.
I mean you didnt bring up the "little things" at all before.
Almost feels like you got all pissed off and then needed too get overly critical and the point of insanity and this is why we are now discussing squirrels... lol
I didn't bring up the little things before because I wanted to put them in my blog silly.
Do us and yourself a favor. Play through the next two beta events and revise the damn thing.
Its obvious something is bothering you today for you to go all hitler on Rift after acting as if it was the second coming yesterday.
Ah you women... Can't live with ya, Can't bury you six feet under the garage.
Well technically you can if you are very very careful. Just saying...

I'm hoping this inspires a parody blog that expands 3-4 pages and comments solely on squirrel realism. I think it should include anatomically correct squirrel diagrams and idea's for capturing live squirrels in order to hook electrode things on them to perfectly capture their cute squirrely movements.
Then make a youtube video of a Rift character gathering up a bunch of squirrels and dancing about like the pied piper. Except he would be stealing all the squirrels instead of children. Then the world would be devoid of all squirrels. <- This of course would be a world 1st achievement and grant you the title of "the Squirrel Master"
Seems some people aren't able to read objectively anymore.
At least what I read was a far more positive column than most of the other posters have read judging their nasty personal attacks ... Jeez guys, get a grip. It also isn't an official review, it is a blog post, a column, an opinionated piece. Take it for what it is.

Give her a break. It's her blog, she didn't force anyone to read it and it's her opinion and hers alone. You have every right to disagree, but making fun of hers is a bit harsh (especially you Rockgod, I can understand your view on this, but your posts are getting a bit too much). Some people have different things they would like to see in a MMO. For some, it's that basic mechanics are working and polished, that there's PvP, that the combat feels smooth...and for some, it is attention to detail. Also, she did not only talk about squirrels, or whatever, but also about endgame, gear grind, valid concerns any player can and would raise. Now, for me, I would not look long enough at the squirrels to notice, I think what Rift does, it does well, though I am not sold on preordering yet. After the first betas, I was a bit disappointed, but the devs listened and have improved the game a lot during the betas, something I appreciate very much. I caught myself enjoying the fifth beta more than I should have . It was a pleasant surprise. Anyway, if you think little of her opinion, keep it to one comment, don't bash her for the sake of bashing and don't ignore her other concerns.

Yeah, you are correct. You would have been called out. I just feel over the last few weeks your Rifts defence is getting a little....shall we say over zealous. In my opinion anyway and mean no offence dude. Just think it may be worth steping back a little. I like the game, will probably be buying it. But it's not perfect by a long way.

I didn't go all turncoat...Rift is a decent game...it just needs polished and it needs to do it better than WoW. That is all I am saying. Take it for what it is worth. Because the fact remains. If they don't, it can join Warhammer, AoC and Aion in the discount bin.

It's subjective to the reader. I don't think she went turncoat myself. What I got from the blog was that she was giving it a lot of credit. She just was voicing her opinion about what she didn't like a bit more. A lot of my freinds where pumped up about it in beta five but over the last few days have changed their minds about buying it.

LOL All i know is you went from loving the game to saying you want nothing to do with it and it would fail in a 24 hour span.
I may have been a tad mean ( I guess) but something like that annoys me.
Also several of the problems you have like clipping and anomolies can easily be fixed.
Hell WoW had a shitty loot bug and clipping for the first two years. do you remember night elf hair sticking through helmets for the longest?
I agree with almost all of the impressions of this blog, especially the "do it better!" points. (I should point out that I agree with most of the *content* of the review. I too found the writing style to make me...*queezy.* Somehow that word seems to fit.)
One that I do disagree with, however, is the plea for mounts at level 10. And my argument or counterpoint has nothing to do with explaining how having a mount at lower levels will cause you to skip content, or make your character "uber," or allow your character to level faster (although it does, but that can be balanced around), or allow you to quest through certain areas without the fear of dying (which it also does). No, it has to do with the moment you earn your mount. For me, my best experiences with mounts in MMOs involve my character finally reaching that level and/or gold plateau where I can make my mount purchase, which will drastically improve my travel/questing abilities. This feeling of improved travel is a relative feeling. If you receive your "improved" travel at too early a level, it isn't "improved" at all...it is the basic standard, the norm of the game. The whole feeling of attaining the mount is diminished.
You need at least a little time to appreciate the hardships of traveling by foot in an MMO in order to more greatly appreciate the benefits of mounted travel. You simply don't encounter any travel hardships in Rift during the first 2 hours it takes to reach level 10. You barely even encounter any aggressive mobs to teach you to tread lightly. And the starting zone is by no means immense--and let's face it, even neither is Silverwood. It's large and sufficient, not huge. All that plus the fact that the path to level 20 really is super quick in this game (approximately 10-15 total hours of gameplay), and I think this mount complaint is really unfounded.
On the positive side, I like how you can purchase mounts with improved speeds at various level milestones. I too really loved Vanguard's take on mounts. It gave you another fun thing to progress while leveling and created a real relationship between your character and your mount.
