Also havent ordered but will wait till it hits the 10$ bins like Star Trek then try it out again.
I think this is the good way to play a little bit in "new" MMORPG's these days. Bought ST Collectors Edition for 10 Euro a few days ago. I will install it once I see an opening in my gaming schedule. At least it is space.
It saved me 60 Euro and probably have a much larger and polished game than 12+ months ago while trying the Beta. As for Rift though... I already play the original, why would I replace my avatars in a world that will be empty in 6 months time ? Rift will be filled with some drifting WOW players trying to find something they already love to hate.
I am coming from a first generation of drifters (VG, Lotro, TR...). I see no point of playing the same and lesser game experience over and over again. But people are replaced and new to this over any number of years I guess, so to all new - lonely - drifters : be happy for the short term it will last, it is after all, your money.
got CE a month ago and going to play at launch , have been in all beta´s so far and only seen good stuff and the Devs eyes keep watching there beta testers feedback
im not sure its a better game then Daoc but i dont realy care that much, i just need something new and Rift sure are looking promish
Cancelled, both wife and myself. Tried Beta 6; did not think it's ;
"RIFT is the premium, next-generation MMO that contains everything a gamer expects to find in a top-quality fantasy game."
As their quote from Trion site.
Thought the in game sound was poor, especially combat / spell casting, music would have been good if it was better quality, seems that sound and combat animations are poor to keep performance up. Resubbed to EQ2, an old one that still has better combat animations and sound. - Have a mid range Asus soundcard thats sounds great with other MMO's.
World seemed good, loved the NPC's; all working at tasks instead of standing around.
Just seems a bit boring and shallow- combat is the main occupation and it's not entertaining, the quests are so shallow it feels like work.
Best of luck to those who enjoy it, at least it will be polished and playable.
Well with jazmine I broke my own preorder rule, started after STO, but darnit, have this problems with redheads you see. Plus I honestly never saw anyone so excited about a game before. But at the moment I am pretty sure, imo, Gamebreaker.tv is getting paid by trion to promote the game. Having gone back and rewatched the sanctum shows you can almost see the other 2 not really be as excited about the game. They seem more, doing the motions, unlike the other shows where you see them more into talking about the game the show is about.
As for graphics, my card is a evga 250 gts, i have a off the self HP comp which rocked the first 7 months till the vid card blew got that replaced and that blew up 9 months later, so i got the 250 not wanting to spend to much till i get enough money to buy a decent comp. But with that card, its a crappy card btw, I can see good detail on any of the games i play at any distance, With rift i have to zoom in pretty close, a few feet away to get any detail. Im chalking this up mostly to beta graphics. I have seen vid game play from other players and some are the same as mine and others are better. But like I said in my original post the other games I play dont have that problem.
Now I do hope Tiron is successful and that those that like the game continue to play it. Trion is a company with people, they people have jobs and I never wish any person to loose their jobs, even if they helped SWG do the NGE, though I hope there is a special place in hell for them. And every once in awhile its not to bad to re install that other game, pay for a month and play a couple days just to see if game has gotten any better. I do that at least once a year with vanguard. Usually end up just playing the card game.
as for getting my money back from trion. Na, I will stick it out. its $60, and you never know, as one posted maybe trion has not revealed the whole deck just yet.
keeping it. i've been playing for a couple of months now in beta and am still having plenty of fun. it'll be fun for at least a month and therefore worth the $50. Beyond that, i don't really care. Why guess what's gonna happen later when you can just enjoy now and then decide in a month if you want to keep playing?

I preordered a lot of games in the past. And that taught me: I will never preorder a game again. Waiting a week or so after release, seeing how well that goes, I can still decide whether to join the fray or not.
GF and I were ready to go with CE pre-ordered and counting the days till headstart.
And then they announced the elimination of 10 man raid dungeons. Neither of us enjoy larger size raid groups, coordinating 20 people's schedules vs 10 is a monumental task. Not to mention getting them all to the same place at the same time, prepared and so on. Very few guilds are lucky enough to have a smooth raid set up and execution, we have never been in one of those guilds. So 10 man is our preferred size and it went away, game cancelled.
I really didn't like that they made a change like that weeks before launch, it's one thing to change talent trees or raise/lower costs of items, but eliminating a playstyle is a pretty big decision. Those of you who enjoy larger raids, I'm jealous as I think Rift will be great fun, so grats to you.
Only played Beta 5 & 6 so far but I love it. I do admit that if you do countless hours of Rifts in a row...they get tedious however if you mix in questing, pvp, dungeons and invasions in there...you get a healthy mix.
It also important to get a guild together, Beta 5 i solo'ed alot and got bored because i got noone to experience stuff with. beta 6 I was with friends and it was much more exciting when we ran across things we had not seen before.
I'm eager for this next beta and launch.
I do however worry that the game will not last past 2-3 months because the content (so far) has been very easy. In 2.5 "played time" I reached level 35 beta cap and cleared all the dungeons available to that level.
I see myself getting to level cap and clearing all the dungeons before my free month is up....but what then?
Keeping, but I may not resub after the first month, as there may not be enough content beyond that, I have no faith that endgame will be much, it never is in themeparks, but I will return in a few months to see what content they add. I am playing Xsyon which being sandbox should keep my attention much longer. I respect Trion, and it’s not so much what RIFT has, but that it lacks a number of annoying things other similar mmos have that is the reason I enjoy it.
It is not deep or large, it’s only a question of whether I get through all the content in a month with one character or two, beyond that its not worth lvling another alt to endgame till they add more content, but for casuals or those waiting for GW2 or whatever, and/or have a deeper mmo for that crafting or sandbox fix I would recommend it, it’s just not a serious full mmo.
P.S. Jazmine is a goddess and I will not tolerate all your blaspheme!
Keeping the pre-order as its enjoyable enough to play. Beyond that who knows...
I was going to ramble a bit like I normally do. I'm just so confused by the reasons one person gave and that they were going back to EQ2 (which I have played since its launch).. that I'm text-less...
I never pre-order any game. Just a rule of mine. If i were to break that rule, it wouldn't be for this. I like the game and have been in all the betas, but I'm bored with it already. The graphics aren't a concern because I don't need flashy grapics. The questing has been poor since day one. I really don't like how it was done. The rifts are awwsome at first, but get old really fast. I like PVP, but don't like how it was done on here.
I wish the game all the best and will check back with it in a few months to see how things are going.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Lol. Anyone else notice that the majority of the "canceling" posts in this thread are from people that have been posting negatively on the forum the entire time? Yeah... I believe you guys pre-ordered lol!!!!!!
Comments
Definately keeping.
I mean its only 60$, maybe it wont entertain me for more then 1-2 weeks but then its still worth the money
Also havent ordered but will wait till it hits the 10$ bins like Star Trek then try it out again.
Canceled my CE thru game stop( gave them 4 days to get me my codes.never got back to me) $90
Ordered another CE thru Amazon (got codes to me in lees then 12 hrs) $79 - relase day shipping .99 cents
So i feel good about my canceling.
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
I'm definitely keeping my CE digital pre-order + 3 months!
Bring it on Trion!!!!
Oh... why? Cause its fun, loads of group content, exploring, mucking about with the soul system, collecting, and admiting often beautiful graphics.
Keeping both mine. I know that all but 2 of my guild are pre-odered and keeping as well. Headstart can't come soon enough
Is this thread serious?
KEEPING!!!
every serious mmo-addict will at least try it. i personally dont know anybody in my current guild who didnt preorder.
Its new, its fresh - and in opposite to all the crap of the last years, its good.
{Mod edit}
Cancelling and Reimbursed.

Game.co.uk lost two orders.
