I'm keeping mine _ That being said there are several things about the game I don't like but even with the things I don't like I still find the game very enjoyable.
Keep. Got the CE edition pre-ordered via Gamestop. Skipped a beta or two. To keep the game experience fresh. Just more or less used beta to test how my system will run it (even though that's pointless now that I'm getting a new system soon). Rift ran well on my system, even though it's not top of the line. (I7-860, 8gb of ram, Geforce 275GTX 896mb version - High Setting ran at stable 45~50 fps. 24~36 during major rift events). Also gave me a good chance to try Soul combo's to settle in on a path, though I admit at this point still not 100% sure what I want to start as. Overall I'm happy with the game. I'm not one of those people that wants every game to reinvent the wheel. I just want my games to be polished and fun. Rift meets both standards.
I was going to reply to the thread with my own response, but the quoted text above is almost exactly what I would have typed.. so.. there ya go.
But, the Rift is always the same thing. Kill 6, kill another 6..etc. The rift pop up in the same locations all the time too, you will notice it after a while. Gets really boring.
Your point? We get it , you don't like the game and are probably highly anticipating GW2 or TOR.
I just notice your name waaaaaay too many times in the rift threads bashing the game. What is the point of YOU repeatedly doing the same thing , by bashing this game over and over again? You thought rifts and invasions were boring. Most people liked them. And?
And to the OP, you have not been charged yet for Rift, only when game launches will you be charged. So if you want to cancel you can.
actually, what they start charging after the first free month of game launch is the sub, but the digital order they do charge it right at purchase. i did it and i when checked my bank statement it is charged already cos its a digital purchase so theres no way to cancel it once you have the game on your pc..
Really? Did you buy it from Trion? I bought mine from D2D and I was not charged for it. I always use PayPal and I was not prompted to enter my PP password or was sent to their site.
I'm almost positive I was not charged...Grrr now I'll have to call my bank and find out!
Used D2D paypal and sent me right to the paypal site, maybe it was glitched when you ordered.
KEEPING 3 different CE pre-orders all with 6 month subs... Why?
1) BEST Beta stability, playability, of any beta in the history of the industry.
2) BEST GRAPHICS on maxed ultra setting of any game in the history of the industry.
3) BEST Beta Bug respose turn around and fixes in the history of the industry.
4) BEST ability of a dev team to actually listen to the players in the history of the industry,
5) BEST Class/skills system in the history of the industry.
6) BEST CS in the history of the industry.
7) A Game that proves my point and sets a new standard for the industry that game developers do not have to release buggy, broken, incomplete games.
8) A Game that proves my point that a game does not half to be all flash and cutting edge effects to be successful.
9) A Team that has the confidence and the ability to walk right up to Blizzard and kick em in the 'nads.
Seeing the pattern?
This thread in and of itself demonstrates just how successful and big this game is going to be, thru all the lies and deception, flamers and trolls, still this game is retaining 15 to 1, 20 to 1, maybe 30 to 1 of the people that its losing. Those numbers are HUGE. Im sure the trolls are gonna jump on and try and spin it and Im sure this is not the result the OP was expecting when he made this post, but there it is all the same.
"right off the bat the graphics arent that great to me, dont have the best vid card, but i activly play wow, eq2, lotro, allods, and the graphics in those games are much bettter at max settings then max settings in rift."
Are you kidding? Rift's graphics are easily superior to every game you mentioned. You may have to play with the settings some but this statement is just not true.
"questing, rifts, invasions, are ok, get real bored about mid 25's, last beta i had all four callings in the mid to high 20's, dont pvp, have pvp with a passion."
Then this game isn't for you. There's nothing out there that would please everybody. To each his own.
"Though, still the one thing that still keeps me interested in the game is the amount of the npc models and how well i think they did them. and the enviroment is really well done also. Should at least keep me interested until my free month runs out. I of course dont plan to resub,"
Hell, just save yourself the misery and sell your key before you install and play retail......
"so tell me what your plans are, be specific, not dudz, the game is phatz, {Mod edit}"
I'm keeping all three of mine. I played Beta 6 and am looking forward to Open Beta. I've done a lot of reading about Rift and based on my opnion that the game is familiar yet fresh with enough new twists and takes to make gameplay original enoug. I really like the way that the developers have handled player feedback. It looks as if the player base is shaping up to be a great player community. To sum it up I think the gameplay will be fun, the community will be great, and the developers will be responsive.
If you're over 25 check out the Old Timers Guild website.

I agree with this for me it's really about the CS coming from SoE I often feel like it's the biggest part for me. We have ordered 4 copies with the 6 month my teenagers have gotten into gaming with us now.
I'm keeping my pre-order for sure. Rift may be another button-masher, but it offers some new (or improved-upon) ideas to the genre.
- I love the ability to switch roles on the fly without any down-time.
- Down-time in general is non-existent, from what I've experienced anyway.
- Simple things like AoE-looting are a time-saver.
- Pet AI & pathing are the best I've ever seen.
- The public group system, and ability to join a person who's about to kill your quest mob are really cool. Definite improvement over something like WAR.
- The game itself is very polished
- The devs are the coolest ones I've ever seen in a Beta.
- Overall, this has been the best Beta I've ever been in. I've had no CTDs, very little lag (even when they were doing the server load testing), and the only actual bug I experienced was a very occasional lack of "spell effects" when casting, which is simply a cosmetic issue.
Think back on all of the Betas that you've been in and the overall experience of dealing with the various dev teams. Think back on all the disappointments we've had in the MMO industry over the past year or two. I'm not saying that Rift is the epitome of the genre, but it's the most hopeful one for me based on what I've experienced so far. It'll keep me going until GW2 and SW:TOR come out.
I don't care if it's a "WoW killer" because I really couldn't care less if something ever kills WoW. I play games for the enjoyment of it, not because the community thinks it's better than the competition.
I've never had a regret about pre-ordering. I'll see those of you who feel the same in the next beta, and at the early start.
Tried a few beta's and thought the game was the most dull and uninspired MMO i've tried in a LONG time. I want my next mmo to feel fresh, not like i've done it 50 times allready. Rift doesn't even come close to that, feels like i'm playing wow with war's pq's. And i'm so tired of everything wow related i could just puke.

FFXIV,Aion and AoC have better graphics.
Best class/skill system in the history of the industry? LOL.
ITs graphics are actually on par with the games you listed. They aren't the best but they are tied with the best in the industry. And as the class system goes that all subjective to the individual. I personally love the system.

Just because you keep saying it, won't make it true. Graphics aren't something that simple. People don't always see the same thing, the same way. There are people that don't think AoC or FFXIV look good. Are you going to say they are wrong, just because you happen to think they do look good?

FFXIV uses Crystal Tools engine, and AoC uses Dreamworld engine, both of them are superior to the old DX9 engine.
I buy every new MMO game that comes out. Why would you not buy this one? People always post don’t waste your money. ??????????
It’s only a few dollars and you get tons of entertainment back. It costs me $75 to take my family to the movies. How many times was the show just ok and I paid for less than two hours entertainment.
Keeping. Friends are keeping their CE preorders also. Having fun in betas and will keep playing as long as I am having loads of fun. It's really just that simple for me.
Arguments about graphics, UI, PvP, "cloneness" and all that other shit is a pretty good time waster on the forums, but it won't change the fact that I find the game enjoyable. To me Rift is fun, and I will be more than happy to pay for it as long as it is.
Keeping. Been in 6 betas and mainly do PVP. I find the PVE aspect of the game very dull. I care very little about the graphics in MMOs.
I'll get to max level fast and see from there if it is everlasting. Most Mmo's usually have about a 3 month lifespan for me, save a few older releases when these games were actually a challenge.
I do love the variety of souls. Especially enjoy Marksman/Ranger/Infiltrator
How long will it hold my attention? Not sure, but I feel fairly confident at least a month or two, so it's worth the purchase. (A lot of non-MMO games out there were you get maybe 20 hours of play for the same price).
If GW2 comes out earlier than expected, will I drop Rift for GW2? Probably, but as things look, Rift will at least be a good filler until then.
Keeping my pre-order and counting the days till open beta. They just annouced they will be rolling back PVP to make it more open. There was also a chat session with Scott Hartsman (found on Rift Forums) where he describes what they will be doing and answers some important questions. There is going to be much to do at endgame.
Finally a company devoted to listening to their player base - how unique.
