I didnt say he is blind and just loves WoW, I said this video comes off that way. Seriously, all y'all go way off on what I said. I didnt say he was a WoW fanboy or a Rift hater. I said he built this particular ONE video in a manner that it comes off like he is those things. Why can't you people understand that? Nevermind though, I guess some people can see some things and others just look at the big picture and cry wolf if someone discusses things they dont like. Point still stands, he came off in that video as someone who hates Rift from the start, and believes it to be nothing more than a pure clone of WoW in EVERY aspect. I'm willing to argue that point. It sounds to me like you either didn't watch the whole video or only heard what you wanted to hear. When I watched the video it sounded to me like his biggest gripe was with the combat system and the questing system which are both completely unoriginal. He also mentions that these are 2 things he really doesn't like about WoW, so I really don't understand how you could think he comes off as a WoW fanboy. Whenever he compares something to it he says it is either done well (the combat is smooth) or that he is getting tired of that feature in MMOs (boring same ol' same ol' combat and dull questing systems). If you don't want the game you like to be compared to WoW then I suggest that you go play a game in a genre that isn't dominated by WoW.

This is the kind of guy that gave great reviews of Aion when it came out because of flashy graphics. He fails to mention OMG this game just came out and I am experiencing FF14 all over again.
He pretends like MMO's in the past 5 years have just released complete. Only fair thing I heard was "the UI is similar to WoW, but that was originally an EQ thing"
Here is one thing I like. This type of stuff and the 86 pages worth of comments remind me of what kind of people are leaving WoW. It is the ones tired of that. The attitude that I am better then you and only my opinion matters and you are trash.
If Trion was anything like Blizzard I would be the first to quit. Trion just has a different concept of how they want to run the game abd it is a 180 from Blizzard's approach.
All in all, after reading through this thread, the ONE thing this video showed me after the first half hour first impression and the entire interview was that I'll most likely enjoy it if I decide to get it. I'll then have, what seems to be, a decent "new" fantasy MMO to play while still awaiting SWTOR for my non-fantasy MMO.

What's the makers of Rift doing to promote the game? Oh I dunno, something about WoW isn't it?
So why isn't it acceptable when even the devs are comparing their game to WoW?
It is not them going off because of that, but the little comments and things he tosses in and then just ignores other stuff like ...pft that is in every MMO ever released..uhhh no it isn't. Maybe after two years after launch MMO's get as stable and complete as Rift, but some rarely do it. Hell in Aion you still can not swim and that is almost 2 years later.
Like in the video he completely ignores the Chloromancer soul and plays it off like healing mage is in WoW or something. I guarantee if Trion had like Fire mage out the game he would be crying that WoW did that better and Trion does not offer enough options.

Easy on the hyperbole as 'MMOs take 2 years to become stable' is not true. Unless you are saying all MMOs released in the past 2 years are 'unstable'?
He gave it a try and offered his opinion. Whether you agree on his opinion or not is a different matter but the whole 'WoW-clone' issue was made by the devs.

Thats what matters. It doesn't matter if kicks puppies in the nose as a hobby if he happens to give his opinion in a first impressions video. It doesn't reflect on his work. If you don't like him personally (you said you didn't earlier in the thread) that is perfectly fine, but the videos he makes are opinionated works and they aren't about his attitude.
Well honestly totalbiscuit review was interesting cause of the psychological factor of players at this moment.
Most of us are WoW/Fanatasy overburned , especially after cataclysme quest and faction grind .
So he has no interest in this game , and honestly it isn´t that its a problem .
Its a problem for many veteran gamers , one of the reason we want something new .
The fantasy setting can´t be improved much more , you will see the same response at Tera and in minor degree GW2.
Cause almost everything has been done in a fantasy setting .
Some people cannot ever get enough of it , but for most of us we all know kill quest X deliver quest Y escort Z or fedex in my eyes , will always be there .
Simply put those fedex quest system works , is user/noob friendly .
Now you can take this review as a person not interested in Rift , not cause its a wowclone , but cause that person is totally WoW/Fantasy overburned .
For people like these , no matter how good the next MMORPG will be , it won´t connect .
It isn´t that he hate Rift , he just doesn´t like it .

Tend to agree with much of what he said and almost everything his friend said. All valid comments and observations and it's always nice to hear a thorough review from a fellow gamer, not just some media outlet with it's own agenda.

Well... EVERYONE has their own agenda. Everyone has their own opinions and biases as well. Thats simply human nature. I happen to like Rift. To me its an enjoyable, entertaining, well polished game. I really do not care if its a "WoW clone". I especially do not care that its not the One True Game(tm). Because that doesn't, and will never exist. GW2, ToR, D3, and any other game will never be the One True Game(tm) either.
But you know what? Thats ok with me, because I've given up chasing the One True Game(tm). The sooner more people realize that NO game will ever live up to all of their expectations, projections, hopes and dreams, the better off they and the industry will be.

After playing the game a bit, I must say that I'm enjoying way more then Warcraft. I started playing WoW at release and like many of you, I have left and come back several hundred times. The thing that appears to really differentiate this game from WoW at my low level is the class system.
In WoW for example, you pick a class and then start the game getting only a few abilities by level 10. In contrast with Rift, before I hit level 7, I was trying to pick a good combination of three classes (souls). There is already more substance to my character at level 10 then there was in my WoW character at level 20.
I'm really enjoying how you can customize a character to your play style, which is something limited in WoW and even more so after Cata. So regardless of what anyone says, I'm enjoying the game and that is all that counts, right?

People can call it a WoW clone all they want. There are obviously certain things that were duplicated because it works and would be stupid to spend a dime reinventing a UI.
Show me one above ground open 10 man raid in WoW? When is the last time you had an invansion where the sky went black? I do not remember seeing random Rifts open up outside Orgrimar and start dropping adds? No Arena 1v1's to balance entire classes around. How about Heroics that are not just exact repeats of the original instance?

Different tastes for different people. Yahtze is much, MUCH worse, and from time to time funny as hell.
