First off the makers of HZ didn't leave they manipulated chapter 11 and changed the name of the company, all the same people are there. Plus it is getting hyped by the few that play it, which is a shame because they don't tell the truth.
As far as the comment about O'Reilly he never said what you just did. He is against gay marriage but not gay unions. Howard Stern is a porn freak and has a twisted look upon life. Now that does not mean I don't listen to him but I must say I do turn him off at times when he goes way over the top.

I find a continual source of amusement to come to these forums and see people just throwing their opinion out, trying to convert other people to their way of thinking. It's almost like a religion for some of you people. Your game sucks, mine rocks, you are wrong, I am right. Give it a rest.
Some people love WoW, some people don't. That's life, boys and girls, it happens with anything. However, I don't really see a need for people who don't like it to bash it every chance they get. In fact, you look rather silly and immature for doing so. Especially since you come in here throwing your opinions around like they are God's honest truth against the cold, hard fact that over 2 million people must find the game somewhat palatable, or they wouldn't be paying for it month after month.
I didn't like like Everquest II. I found it to contain too much downtime for my taste, and I wasn't thrilled with the crafting system. I will tell anyone why I didn't like the game, but I won't start attacking people who do like it and shoving my opinion on them like some sort of raving, religious converter. I don't see why anyone with an ounce of maturity should act like that.
So when someone posts up something like this, try to do what your mothers taught you (or should have, anyway): If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Or even come here and just say, "Gee, 2 million subscribers, Nice job, but I didn't like the game because..." Don't come in here and call everyone who likes the game a drooling fanboy, because it just isn't true, and you have no facts to back it up with.

And Ico, I really need to catch up with the news :P
LOL. One more instance eh? Thanks for the laugh. What was I saying about easily pleased children?
If you consider that to fulfill Blizzard's promise of an endgame that would be enjoyable for months, good for you. I'm glad you enjoy it.
Running the same completely non-challenging instances over and over again is not my idea of entertainment, and I don't believe it was what WoW was originally conceived for. It's obvious that most of the brains at Blizzard have left the company behind, leaving a team of ill-equipped devs to struggle to hold onto as many subscribers as possible, and their unimaginative and tacky solution has been to recreate the Everquest endgame while almost completely ignoring the massive PvP-based possibilities of WoW.
As someone else said in this thread, WoW is a lot of wasted potential.

Its certainly going to take people a while to beat it.

I'm glad you enjoy running the same instances over and over and over, but that's not my idea of fun. I was under the impression that WoW would have an interesting, challenging and enjoyable endgame involving two warring factions battling to maintain control of their territory (please don't try and tell me battlegrounds or the honor system fits the bill here or I'll be forced to laugh in your face).
I was wrong. I don't play any more. End of story.
Like I said, I enjoyed WoW while it lasted. Maybe in a year or two it'll be the game I hoped it would be, but I honestly doubt it.
Will you stop talking about O'reilly Dozer? This thread has nothing to do with him. And no, I'm not a big fan of Dean which again has nothing to do with this thread. And did you just suggest L2 Ico? If so, your opinion doesn't count anymore. That's one of the worst MMO's on the market. I'm hoping it was a joke.
At least we agree on something, Lineage 2 sucks. As far as WOW goes though..overhyped? Not at all in my opinion. Its exactly what I thought it would be, maybe you and some others just expected too much.
Also I can agree Blizz has screwed up some. But damn Ive played enough mmo's to know alot of other companies have as well. Over all I like the game and 2 million speaks for itself.
i've been playing since cb in the end of august and i'm alittle tired(longest game streak so far, i usually take a rest).....
obviously wow dosnt suck, but it DOES suck theres no other games that can compete with WoW.....yea yea yea....you eq2'ers talk a good game, but that shit is wack....CoH dosnt have effective pvp(i still luv CoH), EVE is too slow(good game tho), and basically in modern MMORPG's its sad...and whats on the horizon? DnL? irth? roma victor? MEO(i mean lotr online)?......wheres matrix at=P
last year, the future looked awesome, but wow is the best thing out there.... the people who like eq2 are the same folks who think because something is harder to figure out, its better...the same type of mindset that fucked microsoft and PC's...shit should be accessible.
What was your expectation for the endgame? You've said that WoW didn't achieve it, but you haven't said what it was.
It just irritates me that people so easily criticise the endgame yet rarely offer what blizzard could have done to make you happy.
Not a flame mind you, i'm just curious has to what people were wanting. WoW is the first MMO i've ever been involved with, so my perspective is limited.

In fact I did say what my expectation was: "I was under the impression that WoW would have an interesting, challenging and enjoyable endgame involving two warring factions battling to maintain control of their territory". If you'd have been around during the end of beta, you would probably have had a similar expectation. It was up to Blizzard to meet it, and they haven't. Sorry if that irritates you.
Anyway, it's really not a big deal. Six months is a pretty impressive length of time for one game to hold someone's interest, even if it was almost entirely because of false promises that led me to believe I'd be playing it for years.
As it's your first MMO and you have an admittedly limited perspective on the subject, I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun in WoW.
I did read that, what i meant was, i'm interested to find out your thoughts on what that would have looked like.
For example, if you were expecting that, given that you leveled 1-60 in the game, did you expect the end-game to be predominately pvp orientated? After all, the warring factions are two player factions.
or
where you hoping for more dynamic content? Able to leave a mark on the contested territories?
What would the 'happy firemagic' end-game look like?
I realise this not an easy question to answer, but i haven't played other mmo's, is there an end-game out there that describes what you were hoping for?
I read the rest of the posts in this topic, and I was laughing at myself

Nobody is wrong or right, its just your opinon. I respect others opinons. Politics mean nothing in the afterlife. Wether that be heaven, hell, whatever you believe in.
Blizzard got really confused as to which audience they want to please. Sorry but I've gotten most of my crappy devout set after about 50+ runs of 3 hour instances and I don't have the 12 hours needed to set aside for Molten Core raids to try to get an elite set item. I also don't have the 12 hours a day needed to compete against the hardcore PvPers to maintain a high enough rank that I can wear decent PvP gear. As I have said in another post I need a decent social/ownership aspect in my MMOs and WoW lacks that.
Levels 1-59 it was a great game though, I hope future MMOs learn from it.

Yes, I expected the endgame to be a lot more PvP orientated, a lot more fair, and a lot more enjoyable.
Instead of me wasting my time describing the type of endgame I was led to believe Blizzard would implement let me put it like this: Some people like playing WoW, and some don't. I'm one of the latter.

Hi Dinion,
You've got good points and I agree with you, when you talk
about a social/ownership aspect, what exactly do you mean
by that.
Possibly a hard thing for you to explain.
Are you talking about uniqueness in character (beyond gear)?
Have you played a game that gave you that?
How did it do it?
Cheers
