This article went from a review to an editorial to now an interview with David Bowman. Needless to say and unfortunately for Mr Bowman he has been labeled to be less than truthfull. Has been caught in many half truths and out right false claims in the past and now has a well earned reputation that he has to overcome. Any claims that he makes in any interview will be question by most all in the MMO community. I can say this most of the claims he makes in this interview are greatly greatly exagerating the facts. The claims to a working client and flawless server system are outright false. He would have been better served in saying they are improved but still need a lot of work. But as mentioned already this is just another come try horizons publicity stunt for the most part. People will come and they will try it. Most will quit and some will stay. Maybe just enough will stay to make it so that income equals expenses.
Downloaded the trail a few days ago. Character Creation is fairly simple with a fair amount of customization. I of course made a dragon. The newbie quests to get you going are simply ok... nothing to cheer over. Combat is about like any other game... click attack then click (or hotkey) your special attacks. Crafting is pretty detailed (I think since I am not much of a crafter I dont have much to compair it to). Community is decent... had a few people give me a hand find some resources to do some beginner crafting. Newbie areas are nearly deserted. Can't comment of other areas since I have never been there. One of the most annoying things about the client is you have to hit what ever you are trying to target exactly, very little room for just barely missing with the pointer. Graphics are just decent, although there are several clipping issues I noticed, but nothing that affects gameplay. On a scale of one-to-ten I would give this game about a 6.5... not horrible but not great either.

For One more month anyhow....with any luck and if there is justice in this world eventually this game will finally take it's final bow and disappear. They cannot keep the low populations they have been maintaining forever and still pay even the baseline expenses. This is at least the third round of David Bowman's begging attempts to get people to come back and try Horizons again. Pretty soon, when enough people do NOT return to "try Horizons again" my bet is that another Bankruptcy will be filed and then the lights and the servers will finally be turned off for good. We can only hope.....
I played this game for all of a week. I cancelled my subscription really quick. I'm big on first impressions and this game failed. I have no desire to even give them a second glance.
I got this game the day it was released, it was my very first experience with an MMORPG. Launch day was disastrous, I was able to play for about two hours before the servers crashed, and I was unable to play again for two to three days, and I discovered that I was double billed. Anyways, I was finally able to play again and I was happy with the dragon I created. After several weeks, many of us dragons were asking when will we be able to become adult dragons. Bowman kept promising us that it will come soon. So we waited until the adult RoP (Rite of Passage) was released about 4 months later. This RoP was a great experience, and I'll never forget how cool the transformation was from juvenile to adult. But then we were asking about dragon lairs and the ancient RoP, seeing as how we dragons can't use biped plots (we can purchase one, but can't do anything with it, it is simply a plot of land) , and many of us already reached level 100. Bowman again promises us that it will all come very soon.
I got tired of waiting so I decided to play a Satyr. By the way, it was a tons of fun unlocking the Satyrs, I personally volunteered as a mule for hundreds of hours for this epic event. I decided to become a bloodmage, and was surprised at how much powerful they were than dragons. Bloodmages were so powerful, I no longer felt like playing as my dragon, believe it or not flying over beautiful Istaria does get boring. Anyways I finally got enough money to buy a plot, and I soon discovered how horrible this was implemented, you couldn't add any furniture, not even paintings, it just felt so empty. I also soon discovered how little end game content there was, I realized that I was merely fighting the same brown wolves over and over and I couldn't take it anymore.
So I decided to leave the game along with many others, and a couple of weeks later Bowman sends me an email promising me that dragon lairs will be implemented very soon, as well as the Ancient RoP, begging me to return. Needless to say, I didn't believe a single word he said.
That was last year, I am sad to say that the Ancient RoP is still not complete as of June 28, and that dragon lairs has been scrapped. MMORPG estimates that Horizons currently has about 10,000 subscribers, that's even less than Dofus' 15,000. If you have no idea what Dofus is, I don't blame you, I've never heard of it, and that just goes to show what a failure Horizons is. http://www.mmogchart.com/Analysis.html
Im soory if i dont talk about Horizon but I see that you talk about Dofus. I take you information about this project which work in french (15000 subscribers) and will be launch in english in few days. It will be a little revolution in the mmorpg story because it's a Tactical MMORPG.
Dofus's looking for players for the free upcoming english beta-tests.

Played for a few hours tonight after a week long BF2 break. Just love the games style sometimes it gets laggy but it passes quickly and is usually perfect. I'm still a n00b at it thats probably what I like most right now. It reminds me of a console rpg it makes me smile for some damn reason. Any RPG fan should try it.

You hope for the game to die? lol your not the only one. Man you people sure do hold a grudge. Can't say as your wrong to though, especially if you had to go through the games launch.
Well I enjoy Horizons and dont care about the politics behind it. Sure I haven't played much yet, But I don't wanna know anything except whether the games good or not. And it is, but not for everyone. Most won't have the patience for it plain and simple. It has some great things going for it though which made me stay. Least till something with some soul comes along.
Ok for starters I been part of Horizons since Alpha Stage 1 right though beta and into release and to presant date. For starters the screen shots on this artical do NOT do the Game Justice WHAT SO EVER! The game is far one of the most High End Graphic Clients on the market as far as MMPORG's go. They are so rich in texture that allot of vid cards have problems soem times that can cause low FPS or chop. As far as the game goes I played lots of MMPORG's over the year and I have to say you wont find a BETTER group of players out there. No matter what race or class you play there is always some one there to help out. The games story line is always being added to and being up dated and changed. Constant tweaks and fixes are being applied. Massive Game RE-TOOLING on whole game areas not to mention new areas and whole islands being added to the seamless map. They have made MAJOR STRIDES on the completion of the missing Dragon Content. They also made leaps and bounds to add and change Dragons to balance them in a way that made sense. The Corp Issues have never been hidden to any one. They have been open about it from the very start of it all. it has NEVER EFFECTED the GAME or the GAME PLAY and chances of it ever are slim to none.
What it boils down to is that the game is fun to play. The craft system is by far the most complex and challanging there is out there to date. The system is designed to let the player grow. As the player grows he/she has access to higher things to make. What differs in Horizons is the complex items lists that have to be filled to make each item makes crafting an adventure not a dull task. The products can be posted in Town Consignment Brokers making the player there own vendor allowing the player free time to craft or hunt and still make money. I will say you can not get a real good grasp of the game in 7 days of the free trail unless you are going to power levle and miss out on things. The game has so much to offer and see that there is just no way to see it or do it all in 7 days.
One of the most High End Graphic Clients, you have got to be kidding me. Far from it, even AC2 has much better gfx than HZ could ever have. It can't compare to EQ2 or WOW in any way either.
As far as the rest of your post even the HZ community site can prove you wrong.

my 2 cents.... (for what ever its worth)

There is only one way I would ever give this world a second chance, .. well maybe two?
First a 14 day FREE trail with NO CC period!!
and two
If DB resigns and leaves the country!!
I wouldn't play this game again if they gave me a free lifetime account. I just simply do not believe that this game could have improved that much.

I'm really excited to see this game try to make a comeback. I played for a while and really enjoyed it. I'm anxious to give it another go.
