Skyrim's character models remind me so much of like DAoC's. Especially the hooded robes. The only thing that could resemble it more is if everybody wore cloaks then it'd be icing on the cake. Still though, I'm freaking out how awesome this game is.
People weren't kidding when they said the developers rewrote the oblivion/fallout3 engine from scratch. Everything is better and improved. It's just a little thing, but walking forward and pressing strafe at the same time finally has its own unique and awesome looking animation. That bugged me SO MUCH in Oblivion/Fallout3.
The level/character system is so much cooler. Dual wielding weapons is finally in so I can live out my dream as being a Dark Age of Camelot Highlander Mercenary as probably some sort of medium armored one hander dual wield spec type class that has some minor skill in bows and shield or something along those lines.
In short, I want to unicorn rainbows about this game whereas I never wanted to for Oblivion or Fallout 3. If you haven't bought this game and you love Dark Age of Camelot, then do it. This game fills my longing for a DAoC 2 like a glove.
At least for now. We'll see what I'm saying in a week or two after the excitement has worn off...!!!SKYRIM IS AWESOME!!!
Also I have huge packetloss right now from huge ISP problems just trying to post this but I have to tell the world!
I played it for about 6 hours straight after it got released. Have to say I am very pleased so far. Love the new menu system. It's smooth, very nice looking, and best of all functions well. Combat while not as perfect as some of the more hard core fans (not me) is leagues better it was in Oblivion. The game looks absolutely stellar on Ultra. Running the game with two 580's in SLI with the current beta drivers from Nvidia. No graphical problems at all. So far the only real bug I've run into is that the game will suddenly close for no reason. No error message or anything, happens rarely, and so far it has yet to happen at a bad time. (about 3 times during my 6 hour play session) Haven't fought a dragon yet. Looking forward to that though. As soon as I got free reign I haven't touched the Main Quest since then. Oh big ups to Bethesda on the new dungeons and caves.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
I ended up playing for around 12 hours from yesterday into the early hours of the morning. Bethseda have created a brilliant game, one that makes me completely lose track of time and that's not something that happens often these days.
I've barely even touched the main quest as i keep getting sidetracked. Last night i was on the way to kill my first dragon, spotted some flames in the distance in the wrong direction and went to investigate. 2 hours later i still hadn't been to kill the Dragon.
The only things i could fault the game for right now are the low res textures and the game menus and they no doubt will be fixed shortly by either Bethseda or more likely the mod community, other than that i've been enjoying it immensely.

My exact thoughts, game plays, sounds and feels great, but the graphics just don't live up to the PC standard. When I select 'ultra' for my settings and max things out via .ini file tweaks, I'm not expecting Morrowind quality textures.
The graphics, however, are my only main qualm with the game.
I got a copy at midnight but was only able to play for a little over an hour before I had to turn in. (I have a family thing this morning, gotta get pics made of my newborn daughter ). Anyway, in that short time I found one dungeon for sure, what I feel like is the entrance to a second one, wiped out a bandit outpost and found and stole a wandering horse.
I feel like this game is going to be one of the best games to be put out in many years.
Game plays and looks amazing on my ps3. Thought I would try out a game like this on my ps3, on my couch, new 55 inch with a new surround sound, and well I couldn t be happier. The game plays much better on a controller, sure there might not be mods for it, but theres a chance for that still on the ps3.
Never thought I would prefer it on a console but I do. I ll pick it up later on pc when it s way cheaper for the mods, but for now no need for them at all with the gaming experience i m getting on my ps3 and set up with it.
does anyone know if you can use the 360 gamepad for the PC version. I hear that the controls on keyboard and mouse aren't great so i was hoping to use my PC controler instead.
Yes, but I read it has to be an official Xbox 360 controlller.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, and im to lazy to read through the comments but, I was able to connect my PS3 controller to my pc and have it emulate a Xbox 360 remote using the MotionJoy driver. Tried and tested in Skyrim and it works flawlessly.
You can connect your PS3 remotes to your pc two ways, 1. Through bluetooth using that driver, Or 2. Via the USB charge cable, again using the MotionJoy Driver
I agree completely, tried it with the mouse and keyboard setup, and i did not like it so i hooked my pc up to my TV grabbed my PS3 remote and kicked back MUCH MUCH better experience :P both with the controller and kicking back on the couch.
On another note the game is simply amazing i have two gaming rigs, and they both run the game on Ultra/High with 4x AA. NO stuttering or slowdowns whatsoever.
A great game and graphicly pleasing, but not without its faults. its got a couple of glitches, possibly the most annoying is when talking to an npc I have turn my character away from the npc to hear what they are saying, anyone else with this issue. other issue are just graphic errors, ie. chunks of rivers missing.
The only thing I ran into was a pack of wolves that fell through the world when I killed them, nothing that big though. You may want to reinstall.
This is my only issue. I died once because I thought the dude I was fighting was dead. Considering how he was a twisted mass on the ground, presuming him dead wasn't a stretch. And while sitting, my sword went through the chair. Carpenters must get a lot of work in Skyrim. There are definitely some graphical errors that disappoint me. Please Bethesda, get a new engine. You cannot stretch the one you have any more.
I have been playing for 6 hours now. The UI is pretty bad on the pc and using the controller helps, but a ui mod will be a godsend. The graphics are awsome on a xbox or older pc, personally I think BF3 gfx destroy TES5 but it makes sense with the console limitations and dx9. Other then that it has been a great ride so far, a little too stream lined for my tastes (no more hand to hand combat leveling, me sad . The quests I have done have been much better then oblivion and the exploration is just awsome to say the least. I would give it a 8/10 for pc and 8.5/10 for consoles, a great game.
SOOO THANKFUL THAT the PC version has way better textures than what's been reported for the 360 version.
The menus are a lil' clunky still, but the hotkeys look better than the favorites menu deal on the consoles.
The funny thing is, I went over to a friends whos playing it on a xbox360 and everyone prior to release was saying it s so much better then the ps3 version. Well they were wrong, graphically, and imo smoothness the ps3 is superior. I ll try and find a link of a side by side it s quite a bit better on the ps3.
PC, well i m sure it s better, we ll see when I buy it for my pc one day.
The game plays much better on a controller, sure there might not be mods for it, but theres a chance for that still on the ps3.
You'll never see user made mods on the PS3 or 360, maybe for the PS4 and 720 in 4-5 years for ESVI, as I suspect the next round of consoles to be a little more PC like in nature. You're stuck with DLC for now, unless you go for the PC version later on as mentioned.
Now I could see Bethesda taking user mods and/or their idea and recoding them to work on consoles to be release in a patch, but even that is wishful thinking since they've never done that with any of their other titles yet!

This is actually funny in a way. I never got into Morrowind or Oblivion, something didn't click in those games with me and I only just bought Skyrim last night due to the hype and I'll admit the vids of the dragons looked incredible. That and Jeremy Soule doing the soundtrack, I can't pass up listening to his stuff. So...the FUNNY part is, I'm having a blast. Go figure. I thought I would hate this game and I'm completely sucked in and thoroughly hooked. The theme song at the credits has a lot to do with it. The first dragon sighting has a lot to do with it too. I haven't gotten to far yet, had to go to bed, but it was the first thing I thought about this morning. That's a good sign. I haven't been this hooked on a game since WoW in 2004.

Kinda the same enver really got into oblivion at all by the time i got to the second silyl tower thing i was bored as hell..

The game looks like shit, with everything on ultra and some .ini tweaking to further up the gfx.

Looks really sluggish and a bit of slowdown, or is that just the recording!? Still though, not bad considering your specs!

On a personal not i would give this game 10/10 BTW

Is this what you are looking for?
Ya that one and theres another I couldn t find.
It is a new engine deveoped for Skyrim.. its called Creation Engine..
Oblivion used the Gamebryo Engine
Actually, could be my machine, only the shadows on my machine look much better than the PS3 version.
Couldn't really get a good look at the draw distance.
