Hi all im 27 years old and i play games since 1997 i was waiting for this game 2 f years and to tell the truth im very dissapointed.
My system rig 980x watercooled 580 sli latest drivers 12 gigs of ram alienware optx 2310 monitor ssd drive
One word for those who are willing to buy the game "try it before u buy it.It may save u some money especially if u have preordered the collectors just like me.
The only reason i tried the beta was to see if those150 euro really worth it.
I played 2 characters a smuggler and a bounty hunter
What i didnt like about the game:
Character movement animations are awful
graphics are not very good even on ultra
Gameplay is not fun u shoot with guns but it doesnt play like 3rd person shooter it plays like meh...it's not fun
Smugglers cover system is not fun and it doesnt work well.Furthermore it looks out of action.
it didnt give me the feeling that i was advancing in lvls
Performance of the game is very very very poor even on my system i had 35 fps outdoors.Indoors was better but im not playing the game only for indoors. They may improve that but i dont think there will be much of improvement.
////////////////////////////////////////
The only thing they managed to do right is the dialogs but im not playing a game only for dialogs but for it's gameplay.
I conclussion the gameplay of the game was not fun and it didnt gave me the feeling so as to want to play more.It seemed that there were a lot of things missing.
Now ill have to cancel my collectors preorder cause 150 euro for this game doesnt worth it nor my 15 per month.
Back to saints row 3 and waiting for diablo 3
Ps Try the game for your self if u get the chance. You may like it.For me im a very demanding player and if i see some things missing i just abandon it from the beggining. Some things may change but i think i gave them a lot of time to bring it on.This game should have been released by march. Now it releases december and it still looks like crap.
Peace

I felt the opposite if what you did. Also, my system is not nearly as good as yours and I ran it fine on ultra with no lag. Maybe something is up with your system.
Also, I thought the game looked fine on ultra and the animations were good. The cover system doesn take you out of the action at all, just press f and you roll into cover, imo it feels more actiony then just standing around shooting.
I agree with you. My system runs it fine on ultra and it is outdated.
I'm surprised a hardware hardon guy would be playing an MMO. Aren't you types usually into the latest FPSes only?
I've only played a little bit, but my experience so far has been wholly positive, with only one gripe - I tend to accidentally loot when I mean to strike. Ah well.

No mate my system is very well i play battlefield 3 with 80-120 fps.
If u think the cover system is good then good for u enjoy the game im used to play more action games.
About the movement animation it seems u havent played good animation games yet.Try some saints row 3 and see what good animation looks like.
Condescending much? OK, I'm out of this thread.

You do remember that SWTOR is in beta right? Its possibly they have fine tuned the animations already. And I've played games with good animations and SWTORs seem just fine.
If your used to more "action" games then why are you even bothering with MMO's? I think of the currently released games, SWTOR's combat is only less actiony to maybe AoC.
I call shenanigans then...
So you managed to play in a beta .. and it is not even fully done .. So now that the house is built and just needs pait .. your going to say it sucks. Well go back to the store get your Euros back (They are devaluating as we speak) .. And go play something else .. but you do not have to be a troll about it ... Even when I was harsh on WOW I still left the choice to the individual.
Those are my thoughts .. Not yours
I jsut purchased a system from Ibuypower back in September that is pretty decent but not top of the line or anything for $875.00 and I get 70+ fps on highest settings. I also cant fault Bioware for their graphics as I have always said gameplay trumps looks, hell I still play Asherons Call so I consider myself a mashocist some what lol.
With that being said I think one quick look at my post history will prove I have been a vocal critic of SWTOR (Still am, its still themepark and im still waiting on GW2 or TSW) but SWTOR still plays very good, it has great production quality like WoW or Rift and the gameplay is pretty damn fun. It isnt broken like AoC or WAR and that is a good thing, Bioware put in some good design and the iteration process shows.
Last beta I played a Sith Inquisitor which I like till I made the decision to go Sorcerer and I quit having fun because I enjoy melee more so I should of went Assassin. I also played a Imperial Agent which like you I hated the cover mechanic and felt it disrupted the combat feel too much for my liking. Today I started a Trooper..........Let me jsut say I am FREAKING HOOKED. The class is as fun as I have had in a long time in an MMO and hope it lasts for a while (till GW2). I honestly think I found the class that suits me best but I will try and play a Sith Warrior or a Jedi Knight before I make any final determinations. I suggest you try another class it doesnt take long to get to level 10 which is plenty of time to determine if it suits you.
Yes yes yes Zylaxx is hyping SWTOR so dont go get any big ideas ok, I love the trooper class, I liek the combat of the class and I could see myself playing for a while but this doesnt mean im not looking forward to GW2 any less :P

The game is one month from release. What you are seeing this weekend is pretty much the release client apart from maybe a few minor tweaks here and there. AA not working, Graphics suffering from clipping and lighting issues, bloom eats up resources like jabba on a fat diet. If you enjoy the game then more power to ya. Myself, I think it's a disgrace and should be held up as the poster boy for how not to make an MMO; or even how to waste $150 million on dogshit.
Beta is no longer a excuse Official its beta but we all know they moved to retail try before buy mode marketing mode now
all you get now are bug fixes.
that said, animations aint bad to me, and to compare it to saintsrow 3.. well each their own but I dislike that game and its animations haha. besites that, there restictions in mmo's that dont aply to singleplayer games.
The game is not made for people who spend more on their computer than their car. It's made for everyone else in the world, and it caters to them quite well.
If you were expecting great graphics, better than any MMO ever released, then you probably should have looked at a few screenshots before plopping down 150eu. What you should have been expecting, was an update to WoW's graphics, because that's exactly what they are. WoW's graphics at release were of the same quality. The graphics of SWTOR are quite similiar and designed to run on alot of machines.
That said, the game runs great on all my machines. My 3yr Old Gaming Machine, that was equivelent to yours in early 2009. My 1yr old semi-gaming laptop, that I use the most. My wife's computer, which is I built last year to run WoW on Ultra and that's it. And it even runs on one of my crappy old dual core, integrated video, laptop that doesn't even have its own screen anymore.
But, it really doesn't matter if you didn't like the game. There are 100,000 other players ready and willing to take your place. I'm sure Bioware won't miss you at all and will be happy to take your money for one of their other new releases that do cater to those who spend more than someone in Africa makes in 10yrs on their computer.
he expected it to play like a third person shooter?, well we don't need to hear anymore after that. I always find it suspicious when a poster starts off by saying he wants to help you save your money. The game is as good if not better than any other themepark on the market, yes we all love sandboxes but there really isn't any sandbox mmo's on the market. I get better fps in swtor than most mmo's, i was getting around 50 to 70 fps on max settings. ive 3.2 core duo , nvidia 280gtx and 4 gig of ram the game ran flawlessly for me.
Ive had no problems playing it on ultra settings. Love the game ... needs more social aspects but I expected that.
I dont get in to beta until tomorrow, but my experience with the game is 40 hours back on a weekend of October spending most of my time on the Bounty Hunter and Smuggler. I cant agree with anything the OP said except for the cover system, which does feel a bit clunky. The graphics and animations are fluid and tight and game play is WoW like, but a faster pace. Indoor FPS ran at average 40, while outdoor hit 60 fps all the while running in ultra settings. I am currently running with 4 gigs ram, EVGA GTX 460, and a AMD Phenom II x4 965 processor.
I am not sure why the OPs system was running a bit off, or perhaps Bioware did something this last patch. It seems to me the OP is use to single player first person shooters then mmorpgs. But not everyone has to like what they see or play.
I sadly agree with eric and the OP, zenfire. After reading so many positive things about the game I tried it and was disappointed.

moral of the story.... this guy is not an MMO gamer, does not understand the genre, and is not an RPG player. how do i know this? he said it doesnt play like a 3rd person shooter... and then said he is playing saints row 3 and diablo 3 beta.
YOU CANNOT FAULT THE GAME FOR NOT FEELING LIKE A SINGLE PLAYER GAME. it is an MMO, it was designed to be an MMO from day 1.... it is going to PLAY like an MMO.
if you dont enjoy MMOs or RPGs that is fine, but you cant fault the game for not being what it is NOT trying to be.
I'm pretty convince people get a kick out of hating on any new mmo release, it will be the same when guild wars 2 comes out and every other mmo after that..nowonder why they all fail when you have messangers of misinformation all over the web. Swtor is as good as any other mmo on the market.
There is no ultra setting.
ding ding... we have a winner
Well, he states his opinion and it's as valid as any other. The fact that he says "try it for yourself" makes me think that he is aware that his taste is very specific and that one might not be bothered by some of the things he dislikes or might not feel that the things he dislikes are valid to them.

The game is still in beta and you're drawing conclusions? Well - I think you're just about alone in your negative opinion of SWTOR. Have fun with your wittle FPS's
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
So I learned that a FPS/TPS gamer doesn't like SWTOR because its not a FPS/TPS. WOW VALUEABLE INFORMATION!

Swtor does exactly what bioware said it would do, if you followed the game this shouldn't be a surprise..he said he followed it for two years. I knew what i was getting myself into before i even played the game, i wasn't expecting a third person shooter.
I don't know about your FPS issue guy (OP), I mean I dislike the graphic also, but I have 2 rigs, one is i7 2500K with GTX 580 single and its running @ around 55-100(100 being in areas with less POP) and my other rig is 990x with 590 GTX sli and that its just over kill, however I did over do all my settings in nvidia CP to max and I mean everything to max, even with v-sync on in game the FPS burst out to 70 on the 580gtx.
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
