You make an assertion, and give your opinion...

... other people come in and either agree with you, or have some sort of counterpoint.

... or, alternatively, they make some smart ass comment.  Or attempt to clear up some misunderanding (That's what I'm doing.  The latter, not so much the smart ass comment.)

Go read all the negative topics, and see how many people come into those topics asserting that the game is amazingly awesome.  It works both ways.

In order for people to even REMOTELY be hijacking your topic, you would at least had to have put something at the beginning like 'This is only for people to gush about how SW:tOR is the greatest MMO ever created, and all dissenting opinions should be put in another topic, for people who aren't clever or interesting enough to share my opinion."

(... at which case you'd probably get even MORE people disagreeing with you, but hey, at least at that point in time you could say that people were going against the express design of the topic)

I don't see why lovers and haters of the game can't all get along, disagreeing, without this whole crazy 'If you don't like this game sufficiently, you cannot comment on it' thing going on.  What's the fun to a forum where everybody agrees?  There's a name for forums and topics full of nothing but flattery and positive comments, and it's not particularly flattering.

here is why haters call tor lovers simple minded bafooons all the time how are the tor fans suppose to react to that. We are called fanbois with blinders on we are called, idiots, i mean the list goes on and on while they continually spread lies about the game.

Look i dont mind negative reveiws that dont spout the single player game lie , or the many other lies they spout there are so many i cant remember or list them all.

Its hard to get along when the haters dont want to get along they just wanna flame and tell us what we can and cant play and if we say we are playing tor go on a rampage against t us.

    I don't agree with you.

The greatest MMO ever created (for me) was Ultima Online.

So, we'll just have to agree to disagree OP.

    The greatest MMO ever created?

Hmmm ....... I truly hope you still feel that way a couple months after release.  I'm afraid for many that will not be the case.  I would justify my statement with excruciatingly valid points like "Same ol' thing with a different wrapper" or "WoW in Space."

Buuuuuut ..... as you asked for folks not to derail your thread, as you put it,  I won't bring these things to the attention of the readers.

Although SWTOR is a decent theme park game, the thread title seems a bit excessive IMO.

Hey, even the people who give balanced negative reviews get called out and told 'they shouldn't be posting here if they're not interested in SW:tOR'.

I don't think haters should say you're a simple minded buffoon, but I think it works both way.  Too much hate going either way.  It's just a video game!

    It's not that important.

Shadowbane was the only other game that at up this much time during the days, playing extensively as a Templar. Now SWTOR is beginning to fill that big empty void that has been created by many companies whoo simply don't get what I want.

Forget the UI the characters and all ofhe nitpicking bullshit, and just look at what this world is, it is Stars Wars, done right. A lot of games can learn from this first generation of Story based mmo, in how it creates the emmersion and  the persistant world feeling as you take your character through a movie.

If you don't agree with me , that is fine, Xyson and WoW are ---> that way

    hehe classic weekend tester gushing.

In 5 months he will be pretending he always knew this game was a medicore, even boring, experience once past the gimmicks of VO and the IP.

Still, it's a stable adequate game at the heart of it, like Rift, and is worth the box price for amonth if average quest grinder MMOs are your thing. This kind of hyperbole is ridiculous though.

ive said a few times in the reviews that didnt post lies about tor i could respect there opinion. I dont agree with it lol i love tor. I can respect that tor isnt the game they like or love

I can respect a guy who says i perfer sandbox games then goes and gives his reviews and in the end goes while tor isnt for me themepark gamers should like it.

I can respect a negative opinion that doesnt try to lable tor as a single player game, or with small worlds. Funny thing is the people in beta who whine koriban is to small whine about all the walking they have to do on dromand kass.

I can understand if u are in the beta and in chat and u are blasting the game that players so why play it if u dont like it but i respect opinions that arent laced with lies.

If u post a lie about tor though ill call u on it. I  can respect that people dont like the art style in tor i disagree i perfer my games with stylized graphics but i can respect that thats not there style of art in games.

Its the ones who just post lies and uniformed crap as fact that get to me.

i absolutely agree with OP (not that im allowed not to :p).

for me too, this is by far the very best generic, big budget mmo ever. no korean generic game compares to it, because you know, its korean.

while the game doesnt try to be innovative, and offers little to no new features, its awesome. because its swg, and its even more awesome because its made by western company. so thats also a huge plus in my books.

seriously now, i really cant understand some people. just about everyone i know dislikes korean games because they are you know.. lookalike, and offer no real inovation. fair enough. but i have no clue why is it ok if western company, with 100x higher budget does it.

admitely, im not a star wars nerd, and that could be the reason why i dont find the game all that interesting. i mean i watched the movies, but thats about it. if im gonna play the game, its gonna be because i like it, not because of some movie :P also, im less likely to move from game a to game b if theres huuuge dejavu effect playing that new game.

ah and dear, friendly op, before you start yelling at me, read this. i know im not allowed to speak negatively about the best game ever created (whats so 'best' about it anyways? why is it ..bestest (D:) than lets say wow, because its set in space?) :p

i completely understand how many people will absolutely love the game, and rightly so. Its not a bad game, in fact its a very good game by all standards, but before trying it i did expect a little bit more... inovation and .. you know, something with less 'been heret done that' side effects, for all that money spent :)

So while many will enjoy playing the bestest game ever, theres nothing that makes it any better than the rest of the pack, from my (neutral? not a fan not a hater? :p) point of view. Its just a reskin of other mainstream games,  and gives me no reason not to stick to my current game instead.

thanks for reading and please, dont be mad at me :(

Since you aren't interested in discussing your points, I'm not sure why you posted this.  I would have loved to compared the concept of what a persistent world truly is, plus things that kill immersion in SWTOR and how they might be able to imrove it.  Somehow some people confuse a discussion of valid points with an argument.  Since the OP clearly sees any concern or complaint as bulls**t, there's no point in attempting to discuss them.

Which instance/layer exactly did you mean?
Nice bait though, and it worked. :)

Except, that background is static and never changes.  You can never go explore it.  Your character's boots will never set foot on those cool looking mountains.  Heck, you can't even walk up to the base of those mountains.  At least in Games like Lotro, WoW, EQ2, this is possible.  This is one of my pet peeves with the zones in SWTOR and part of what makes them feel NON realistic and NON immersive.

This is truly amazing, thanks for sharing. It does look a bit cartooney (e.g. exaggerated) at some points, but it truly catches the wanderlust-feeling I get when I think about the SW universe or when I look at the stars.

    Keep those impressions coming, please.

The reason this is the "GREATEST....MMO....EVVEEERR" for you atleast, is because your a star wars nerd. You said it yourself. I'm not a fanboy of any game, i played the beta and got bored. If this game was free, i would probably play it. But it aint worth my money in my opinion.

As is yours'. I mean really, making predictions based upon your own assumptions, and that is the "real story". Give us a break please.

when the episode 1 star wars movie came out, i was soooooooo psyched.  I was buggin' out waiting to see it for at least 18 months before the movie came out.   i waited in line for 6, maybe 7 hours to see it.  got together a party of 10+ people to see it with.

after the movie, i mean RIGHT after, i came out of the movie theater still saying how great it was.

1 day later the reality set in that it was a pretty bad movie.

this exact same experience will become very familiar to the OP and to most gushing with joy weekend tester.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

All I can see in the next 12mths is F2P incoming.  It will make its initial money from box sales and some money from subs, then they will introduce the cash shop and the free to play model.

Just looking at the items for sale just screams for F2P.

  • tulkustulkus Member UncommonPosts: 2

I have too say i had problems getting the beta started for star wars.  Once i did i had  alot of fun is that not the point of games questing, joining with people and having fun.  The first flash point was a blast and i had a really good time being evil and all he he.

Your opinion, its the best game in the world. My opinion, its the biggest piece of crap game I have ever played, which I thought would be the case since the first day I saw anything from it. Have fun though.

Not as good as Ultima Online Pre-trammel, nothing is ever gonna beat that. Aside from that FACT, i enjoyed the game so freaking much, cant wait to play it when it launch.

I couldnt care less what i pay $15 for, i got enough money, beside one month sub is half of which it cost to go to the cinema, getting coke and corn.. Why are you guys always commenting "i will not pay" .. guess there are alot people here without job or just very poor, if you consider $15 something u have to think about... geez its close to free entertainment.

It's true, which is kinda sad since it isn't half as revolutionary as they say.  I'll buy it when it comes out, because in comparison, what else is there?  From what I've seen, the PvP and probably even graphics will be trumped when GW2 and the rest of the next-gen mmos release even if it will have a better story and immersion so I don't know exactly how long I'll be playing swtor - but so far, you can't really argue with the title and be taken seriously by anyone else other than those who like to burn down good things and jump onto the popular, themepark stigma-related bandwagon.
