At least the devs are not lying. I beta tested the game and what I experienced in-game is what I expected based on the information provided on the official website and reviews all over the Web. There is nothing revolutionary, just another WoW-like game. Personally I am going to wait for a free trial and give it a second chance. Too many games out there and so little time *sighs*
This is the same person that made a thread last week, saying this was the best thing ever, and if you didn't want to play it, go find Xyson or something like that....Went after anyone that disagreed or had anything bad to say about swtor... Almost seems like a different person.
I played wow beta and didn't get into it, but I had more options at the time to play....Gonna play swtor, more skeptical of it than any game I have paid for yet, but not playing anything atm, I will get my money out of it, and then move on if I don't like it...If I do, than I get more than my money out of it.
I do hope more developers forget about making their version of wow that will get them some of the games subs, and actually start developing new, and innovative games more often...I think its happening, but would hate to see 3-5 more years of the last 3-5 years.
Last week he made a thread calling it the greatest mmo ever made and prceeded to call anyone a troll who told him it was like WOW. Now a week later he still thinks its the greatest mmo ever made but he cant play it because its to much like WOW. This person cant be taken seriously. Clone wars with voices is apparently to much like WOW now lol.
That's not what he is saying at all. He's not complaining that the game feels like wow. He's saying the devs do not seem to be focused on things he'd like to see them focused on. How many times are you going to spam this thread?
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
Reading more and more interviews with the developers and the gravity the had towards being "like" WoW was to much for me.
It is an amzing game, biut I simply can't support it.
Goof Luck !
Thank you, I was waiting for so long to see what you'd do...Now I am going to cancel too. I was worried you'd leave me hanging a little longer..Thank you soooo much for getting this information out there in a timely manner.

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
Editted: Removed the implication that the OP was *****ing.
Maybe.. probably, but its not a very fun thread. No one really cares. He just keeps making obvious typos, and I don't know what that is a reference to.
You absolutely loved the game but cancelled your pre-order because the developers apparently enjoyed wow (like 11 million others did at one time) and took some basics (made better imo) from the most successful MMO ever released thus far ? Ok.
I have mixed feelings on SWTOR. I got into beta 3-4 months ago but I have rarely played. I think its a good game. I love the voice acting and for once I acually pay attention to the quests. But I don't like the combat its to action orientated for me and well I just don't have fun playing the game. Not to say its a bad game I think its a well done.
But if I was going to play I would have 3 concerns. On the beta boards people have been complaing for months that it takes 30-50 hours to max a character. I cannot speak to that myself as I have not gone higher than 20. The end game has been completely untested. A few weeks ago I recieved an email that they were going to do a high level testung server to start testing the end game But I have not logged on since. Third the game seems to being made not for veteran MMO players but for the casuals who want fast gameplay, action combat and little substance where everyone wins. Being a raider I question will the game have challenging raid combat. At first glance I think many would say no. But given the failure of all recent games without serious raid combat they may surprise us. Are there many serious raiding guilds going to SWTOR? I don't know and have not even looked. With only 3 supported raid games left, EQ2, WoW and Rift they have the oppurtunity to acquire many long term subs.
I am sure SWTOR will do well in the short term. I have questions about retention after 2-3 months. I just don't see the content to keep a vetran player playing after the 30 days are done. But I hope I am wrong. Regardless I hope the game does well. Cerrtainly it will do better than poorly made games like War and AoC which were dead a nd ghost towns 3-4 weeks after release. I think tis good enough to keep bringing in new players to replace old players unlike those two other games for some time. I just question will it keep many veteran players.
No disrespect to anyone but its getting a little tiring reading all these 'im not playing' , 'the game is rubbish' blah blah. Whatever anyone thinks of the game is personal opinion , its subjective.
If i dont like a game after playing it i just move on and forget it . I wouldnt bother haning around in the said game forum posting negative comments about it every chance i get.
Why people feel the need to go and rip the game is beyond me , Noone cares, if anything its just less lag on opening day. As my esteemed colleague puts it aove Good bye and dont let the door hit u on the way out.
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
The OP played SWTOR, thought it was a great game, had a lot of fun playing it, but is cancelling his preorder because Bioware says nice things about WoW?
The level's of stupid in this thread are off the scale.
I'll try to sum up what the OP is getting at in small words ....
He likes the game, its great.
He wont play the game though, not because its *like wow* but because from the Dev blogs etc hes read they are taking the game in the same direction as wow. He wants to see more innovation in MMO's so hes voting with his wallet and not supporting a game that will take that path.
I would wager that had the info he's seen said something along the lines of *We've taken lessons from wow and are looking to add more innovative aspects based on that design* he'd be happier and would have kept his pre-order.
Its his right to not support a game if he feels its not going in a direction he wants it to go in.
Doubtful that anyone cares, nor do I know how Amazon handles canceled orders{like make them reavailable or whatnot}, but I finally decided that I really don't want to play TOR afterall, thus I just ended my CE pre-order.
Honestly, I kinda liked it because{was a closed beta tester for awhile} the vocals were great and made the mundane 'kill 10 of x" more bearable but outside of that, I found it to be extremely shallow. The focus once again is entirely on end-game raiding and PvP, both of which I despise, leaving me with only the class storylines until they conclude, at which point I usually quit said MMO. Course with TOR that would have been 8 playthroughs, but I figure I'd rather save the money and continue waiting on whatever is next ~ probably Guild Wars 2!
Well damn..... That means what there are only 899,999 pre orders left ? That's to low , I don't care that the game is amazing, I'm going to quit now. Sigh and its such a great game.
I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.
This game has moved far enough away not to be wow theres a thick story if you want to listen to all of it and different systems. Sure its similar to wow in the fact its an mmorpg, but its like calling a food category like suishi the new donuts.
I think, for food comparison, WoW is Pizza hut and SWtor is Dominos.....

Technically speaking, you didn't actually sum up what the OP was getting at in small words. You used several times the amount of words and many were actually larger than what the OP used.
To sum up, the OP didn't make his point very clear and it required a much larger post by you to explain his probable point, thus the confusion of many of the repliers here is probably warranted.
On a related note, I hope that some day in the future people's simplistic use of descriptors like "WoW clone"* will finally cease. However this being the internet it probably won't.
*Yes I know neither you nor the OP used this actual phrase.

Actually EQII is pizza hut since they have the /pizza command that brings you to the pizza hut website but both those pizza places suck. I can't say the same for the games.

Does that mean I will have crust dust everywhere when I log out?
I see SWTOR more as Papa John's. Pretty much the same model as Pizza Hut but with a little bit better quality of what goes into it.
Now if only Papa John's had a Stuffed Crust.......
This same guy announced TOR was the greatest MMO ever created a week ago.
Seems to make a habit of dramatic pronouncements.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
This well written, articulate, highly fact-driven post has convinced me beyond any reasonable doubt that TOR is not a game that I could possibly enjoy in any circumstance or situation that is conceivable now or in the future.
My eternal thanks goes out to the OP for hisher highly informative post detailng why TOR is not worthy of pre-order.
I furthermore applaud the OP for the in-depth analysis of how TOR has parallels andor similarities to a currently running MMO known as 'WoW", and providing documented interviews with actual developers that have gone on record to state TOR is all too similar to WoW, thereby proving that TOR is not worth my commitment of time andor financial backing.
