Nice unbiased review. Any walking and breathing human being could not possible rate Swtor anything less than 5/10. The simple fact it is a solid enough game amongst all the craptastic waste of coding out there puts it at 50% when puting all bias aside. It is a crime to call that a review. It is an opinion piece. It is like calling Fox News an actual news network.

The last line of the review about sums up the quality of this review:

"This is not the game your looking for."

Now lets hear from some Star Trek fan sites for more unbiased reviews ...

Dont even know why people even burn time looking at this kind of bad bad reviewing....i will most likely not play SWTOR, as im losing a bit of faith in the game, but i know it is impossible to give this game a bad review. It may not be everything that everyone was hoping for, but im sure it will be a good game with a good base of long term subs...and i dont even need to play the beta.

So, no need to read that article, its sad and tasteless.

And here-in lies the problem with the Internet - Random idiots with opinions and the various sheep that validate them.

A sandbox review doesnt approve of a themepark game. Ohhh Lordy.

Actually it isn't bias. Fox openly admits and points out which programs (if you dig for that information) are opinion segments and which is their news segments. This however is not made apparent to your public (I am not American). This is true with many networks however but in the case of Fox their opinion segments are openly told through a point of political bias. Free speach is great but viewers simply need to be aware of it.

So the fact remains: This Swtor opinion piece is the same as Fox News opinion "news". They called it a review in the same way Fox calls their opinion segments news.

In other news, iPhones are rated poorly among Android users.

  • Reading a 2/10 review seems like a waste of time to me and I am not even buying this game even though I like Star Wars.

No way the game is even close to that bad.

  • DrakynnDrakynn Member Posts: 2,030

I would agree this is not a valid review but it is a valid opinion from the can't play naything but hardcore sanbox MMOs and anything that isn't a hardcore snabox MMO is evil and a sign of the coming apocalypse viewpoint.A viewpoint which has a large following in these forums.

Anyone of a similar viewpoint should read this "review" and take it to heart and not bother with SW:TOR,which I'm sure 99% of thme already have decided.Anyone not of that viewpoint shoudl wait for balanced reviews and/or opinions more sympatico with their own viewpoint.

  • NethermancerNethermancer Member Posts: 520

I see no problem with the review

He put it on his own sandbox website basically telling any hardcore sandboxers that they wont like the game.

I personally would give SWTOR 8/10 but this is a legimate review becasue he is not trying to hide who he is and why he doesnt like it.

    Playing: PO, EVE
    Waiting for: WoD
Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO
Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

First i would give swtor 10/10 , but i am huge SW fan . But when i compare fun i had in beta swtor it is more then i had in past in any finished mmo. People forget something very important--HEY it is Beta for god sake! I cant even remember any good beta start of any big mmo in the past. Now i expirience something very strange in mmo comunity---people are afraid of competition btw favorite games and we know who are the ''enemies'' this time, It is just swtor vs gw2. But i don't think there will be any real competition between this 2 giants in the end, specially because of the fact that gw2 is f2p and it is different genre. You will se same phenomena when gw2 starts with beta :) There wil be spiting from all sides (so be prepared gw2 fans) I write this because most of bad reviews came from not respected  sites made by swtor haters, in fact i dint saw any bad  review from any respected mmo site (like mmorpg.com for example). And remember it was just beta. Peace :)

2 out of 10 makes the review unbelievable and I wouldn't even bother to read it as a valid opinion. I can accept that someone doesn't like the game and that they are rating it low but 2 would be a barely function F2P.

Sorry I can't give any review which is so obviously skewed with bias any credence.

I agree with the guys over at sandboxer. The world just doesn't need another wow clone.

Well, the millions and millions of dollars they earn speak otherwise.

I agree, I would like to see some innovation, that said, who are you, or anyone else to say that people do not deserve to have a wow clone. People like them, people play them. You may not agree, but until you have millions of people backing your position, I doubt anything will change.

WoW clone?  Pretty sure Wow is a clone to all MMO's before it.  SWTOR is not WoW, if you like WoW please go play that and stop with the trolling.  Thanks :)  MMORPG is so PRO sandbox.  If you posted something like this about WoW from Themepark.com (not sure it exists) it would have been deleted along time ago.  This post has already been reported but yet its still up hmm???

  • TerranahTerranah Member UncommonPosts: 3,575

Come on now....lol....2/10?  I have heavy leanings toward sandboxy games, but even with this bias I know the game gets a higher rating.  Maybe he is rating it for appeal to sandbox gamers only.

I would say judging it for what it is, a themepark game, 8/10 from what I've seen, with the potential to go higher or lower as I experience more of the game and they add things post launch...like an appearance tab.  Appearance tab is big in my opinion since I feel like the customization options thus far are a bit limited.  Also they need to add new playable races somewhere down the road. I always play humans, but I miss wookies and trandoshans and some of the other races we came to love in SWG.

Heh well I never heard of that website before, and I can probably say I wont ever be going back there.  I am no fan of the WoW formula either, but SWTOR deserves more than a 2, c'mon now.  It's a fun game regardless of what genre of games you prefer.  Even you if absolutely hate those types of games, it's still worth at least a 5 or 6.

Usually do not like to hijack threads. but since this was about a site that posted something crazy, well i will:)

Sorry, but you really must have a low opinion of people if you really think they can not tell the difference between opinion and news:) You seriously think it is hard to see the difference between say Sheppard or Bret and say, Hannity?

So yes i would say that is a bias, against Fow News,  just as i said it for the web site that this topic was about:) And just like this web site on this topic, i am sure they, like you, would deny a bias as well.

    Have a good day:)

It looks like a few people are complaining that the reviewer didn't write anything positive about the game. I did see a few positive remarks, but why should he be required to say something positive about this grindfest?
  • DromedarrDromedarr Member Posts: 76

reviewing game before launch is silly. 'nuff said.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Thats just it its not a grind fest. im sorry but if u played tor beta at all the one thing u realize is that tor is not a grindfest.

Sure u have to do quests its an mmo , no offense in an rpg mmo u have to do quests. They dont feel grindy though.

Im sorry i dont mind when people post stuff thats actually true. Crappy character creator, no customization for ui , although i liked ui i can see why some didnt,

There are other things that arent perfect in tor but questing and grind isnt a problem or issue and neither is story

This site isnt a site id trust with any themepark review. its called sandboxer for a reason no themepark is gonna get a good grade here

like i said call me when a site taht actually matters puts out a review not all these off the wall sites people never heard of before.

I know it's bad, but 2 out of 10 bad is REALLY friggen bad for an MMO.

WOW I actually have to take up for TOR on this one. As much as I loathe wow clones, that is no reason to give the game a bad review. Gamestyle doesn't equal game quality. Also a sandbox mmorpg site talking about the graphics of any game is a bit of a stretch, to date Darkfall is the highest level of graphical achievement in sandbox mmorpgs. And I love some sandbox features in my games, but look at the games on the reviewers site, most of them are vaporware honestly and one of them has pixil sprite graphics. So I dont understand the elitist attitude.

Well after reading silly conclusions and reasoning like this:

    "Gameplay: 1/10

The gameplay in Star Wars The Old Republic is absolutely horrible. Just like World of Warcraft, Rift, or any other themepark MMO most mobs will just stand in small groups maybe 30 feet apart from each other and will only agro in those small groups. So you may be killing a mob, but there best friend standing just 30 feet away won’t even notice all the loud blaster fire or screams of there dyeing friends. "

    I give to sandboxer.org 0/10.

Oh, and when I see comment like this:

    "Innovation: 1/10

    It’s a StarWars WoW Clone. "

    I can only give to sandboxer.org -10/10.

Wondering how many visitors they have.
