EDIT: Sweatshops and powerlevellers welcome. This must be a new low in MMO-history.
Sorry if someone into the game gets hurt, but really.... call me hater, I call you blind.
I don't understand. Why sweatshops and powerlevellers? The whole point of the game is to slowly, in your temp, move through the story; there is no need to artificailly slow down levelling. So if a person skips the story, naturally, it stands to reason that he'll maxlevel in no time (without useless mindless pointless grind). So where is the downside, I don't understand?
So, you're ok with the inflated market, 1 day top level players and chat getting spammed to unusable by gold sellers throughout the game...
You don't know what you're denying...
On the contrary, the more grind there is, the harder it is to level the toon, the more demand for gold farmers and toon sellers exist. Markets don't become inflated because it's too easy to get to top level. Markets become inflated if there are not enough money sinks. Also, inflated markets provide more profits to crafters, so what's the problem? And since resources can't be camped, artificial inflating of prices for some commodities and therefore the items manufactured from them is impossible also.
I'm not denying anything, since I don't even play the game and not planning it for at least another month anyway, so there is no involvement for me to be in denial about. It's simple analysis.
So, we can scratch out one of the aspects of MMO: professions. Another one is economics, or market manipulation as some like to call it. We are left with voice overs, meaningless PvP (meaningless as it has no affect on the universe), PvE to watch voice overs and possibly raiding... nice MMO you have here...
Skipping all the cutscenes and doing every thing possible to speed through the game seems pretty lame to me, but to each their own.
As for there being only 2 days worth of content if played in this fashion I highly doubt it. It's pretty much a given that he skipped all flashpoints, skipped pvp, skipped crafting, skipped socializing, and many more things you can spend time on.
Supposedly one of the developers of Skyrim beat the game in 2 hours. Wow. Talk about a lack of content. Oh wait. I've got 100 hours in and haven't even been to two of the major cities nor progressed very far into the main story line let alone all the big side quest options.

No comparision to TOR and Skyrim, options in skyrim by far outweight the options you have in TOR. The only comparision you can make is that they are both single player games.

Same thing happened in RIFT (around 72 hours after first day of headstart) and they didn't even have to press a spacebar. I couldn't play the necessary hours a day to get to the end that fast, but some people can. Heck I've been playing since Wed morning and have about 13 hours of played time in, and I'm only level 15, and it keeps getting slower for the levels. But the story keeps things moving nicely, I didn't realize how many hours I had playe until I logged off for lunch and decided to check.
For many it is just a popularity contest and world first title. I know a guy who power levels in every new MMO with his first character..his dream to be worlds first is still a dream though. However, he takes it easy with second character.
Every individual has their own style pf playing.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6. US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian. Subs will be so low there is no need for more Snoocky-How many servers? The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
is there any game that promotes the journey of getting to the end instead of speeding to end game??
There is. Everquest 1 progression server. Its tuff to get exp, loot and make a name for youreself. The unlocking of an expansion takes a minimum of 3 months and there are 18 expansions. Unlocking is a vote of the majority of the people on the server and yes a few times the votes has been No. Its the real challange like it was in the old days.

eq2?

I don't in fact if someone told me they were i would probably make fun of them instead of being in "awe" of them
Originally posted by ant211 i was thinking of playing this game but i need some kind of challenge to feel ive achieved something worth while. going by this thread it seems to me this game is going to be far too quick and easy... im a little dissapointed. is there any game that promotes the journey of getting to the end instead of speeding to end game??
What i would wonder how much time he played, as the screen doesn't say if its 2 days real time, or if its ingame-time.
If he did all the content in say 2 days playing like 8 hours a day (aka 16 hours game-time), that would be pretty bad.
If he played the content in 59 hours, that would be acceptable ammount of content even without stretching it with cut-scenes.
I'm siding with the first interpretation because every person needs to sleep and playing 59 hours of any game would probably kill you...probably, not to say its impossible.
Do you guys remember any other game in the past where during early access players hit cap somewhere around this guy?
Rift was faster, or about the same
My history of MMO's... I had never hit level cap in an MMO by the time its first expansion released. In Rift I was at level cap during early access... and I am talking about all the level based MMO's from EverQuest on. I didn't play the game differently so yes I agree it was fast.
TOR... well I was in beta for a long time but I had no desire to hit 50 fast. I wanted to get out a few planets and be ahead of the herd. When I hit balmorra nobody was around.. one guy was on the planet just as I was leaving. Well ok... I wanted to craft so this was golden because there was no contest for nodes.
People forget about stuff like that... end game content isn't the same for everyone. So anyway empty planet after empty planet I've harvested and have a ton of mats. Anyway that's what I get lost in as I level..
So I was cruising pretty good until I hit Taris because when you track certain quests... at least on empire side you'll have huge performance issues. Nobody else around and opening my map would drop my fps to 1... randomly moving I'd stutter. So I screw around for about 4 hours wondering wtf is up... decide to untrack all the quests and bam I can play again. Seriously? So I did a bug report and listed quests that cause the problem and quests you can track and not have the problem.
So I've been in the upper 30's for two days now. Figured there would be multiple 50's by now... so not suprised.
I don't care about being 50 .. I just want to harvest my mats and do crew missions for my rares.
I'm a bit over 300 armormech atm and when I max out I'll start my next crafter.
I didn't read the thread so I don't know what AC that person was playing. Me? I'm playing a Powertech and it gets a bit slow here and there... if I was playing a Sorc .. I'd probably be 50 by now too.
/shrugs
Anyway if the guy is one of the people who will complain about no end game.. then leveling that fast is pretty stupid. I'm just saying it is possible to level fast and not care about end game. Non contested nodes are pretty awesome.. tho I wish I had taken slicing because there was tons of boxes and nobody slicing.
I remember in Ragnarok online it took me 8 months i think to reach 99.
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
Same for AC back in the day, but you have to look at the basic game design compared to back then...in the time of EQ and AC nobody used the words "end game"...nowdays, end game it is the game...whether it be raiding and or pvp instances.
In little time he will complain about "lack of content"...
I've seen that scenario in a dozen new games now.
Hey, why am I the only one in this content? Why can't I get a raid going?
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
This is bad PR on ToR's part in my opinion. It shows how much a game is lacking if it is possible for a player to reach max level within 2-3 days.
Further provies my point of why there needs to be NO big open betas, because this stuff happens. Granted it's whatever, I have no intention of playing the game and this further gives me reason not to, as I want a challenge and obviously this game has little to no challenge if you are able to get to max level so quickly.
But for someone to reach 50 within 2-3 days, and people looking at the game thinking hmmm...is it really worth it then? I think that this is still a bad image for ToR already.
Better be releasing those expansions quick, or as I called it a month ago, people will be itching and moaning within 2-3 months, now I will say 1 month, about lack of content, boring, and all around nothing to do.
Cheers for those who will enjoy it for months to come...(or years if this happens).

The best part about this are the replies to the post on the SWTOR forums, multitudes of people doing nothing but insulting the guy. Sounds like a bunch of butthurt nerds angry that someone got to max level so quick, as if doing so harmed their gameplay experience.

It will once this guy starts ganking people on the PvP server he is on. )I think he said pvp server(....also when he starts flooding the market with items he farms and controlling prices, yeah that won't affect anyone.
But it definetly won't affect me, I am just posting, I am not a player, nor ever plan to be in ToR.

I like how in the original thread people started saying he had no life. It took him less than 3 days straight (chances are he had buddies help).
What if he is a student on break or just planned part of his vacation to play?
Just saying playing 3 days doesn't make you have no life.
