Got to Tatooine as people said for the game to start getting good and it's like all the other zones, there are invisible walls and you cannot travel to the next location, you have to get a taxi....

It's still enclosed and very linear.
reminds me a lot of FFXIII all the early areas very very limited in paths and pretty much just a select few paths you could follow then you get to the main area in pulse and its a hell of a lot more open but still very very restrictive in many ways

In the beginning part of Tatooine, yes. Not once you get past the first quest hub, however. It really does open up, even if there are still invisible walls in the distance. But inexplicably, it's very walled in in just the beginning part of Tatooine. Not sure why they did that when the rest of the zone is pretty wide open. It was definitely one thing that frustrated me in beta until I was able to get to the Jundland hub. At that point, it became more the way I envisioned it.
I'm still enjoying the game, but the more I play, the more I find wrong with it.
I did some PvPing yesterday and god...there is so much wrong with that.
You can't pick which map to queue for. The matches aren't tiered at all so higher level players have a huge advantage from the skills they have that you don't. And worst of all, you can't even pull up the scoreboard (damage, heals, etc.) during the match! I mean, seriously, WTF!
Now how is saying that those things are not in the game 'hating'?
Imo, it is a good comment on how incomplete the game is. It is missing these things, plus other things people are listing (ie Customizable UI, possibily a combat log, poor targeting, etc). When you start compiling a list of what is missing in the game, it is understandable why people would give it a lower score.
I was trying to figure out how anyone could call this "worst of all". Why someone would want to even do this during a match baffles me, you're supposed to be PVPing, not comparing where you stand on the leader board.
But this is what MMO's have come to I guess for some folks.
I long for a more innocent age I guess.
How on earth CAN'T you see that when you play a competitve game you obviously want to see the scoreboard while you're playing?... there isn;t a single competitive game that puts you up against players that doesn't allow you to see the scoreboard during gameplay... TAB... why they would not put that in TOR is beyond me...
Maybe they weren't that experienced making proper multiplayer games?...
how can you complain about this? why do you need to see your score? heres what happens when u put up scores.. people tend to try to get the best score.. they forget about trying to win, they just want the best score..
"omg, i need to get my healing score up", "omg, i need to do more damage", etc.. they will forget about actually trying to win the matches, and worry only about thier score.
i think its good you cant check your score till its over.. This game stops people from stroking thier epeens all the damn time.. if you want damage meters, and scoreboards, and all this other crap.. either wait till they put it in the game, or go play another game.
for those of you that havent played the game, warfronts does have a main scoreboard to show who is winning and losing, but it doesnt show a personal score till the very end of the game. At that time it shows everyones score
i like to see the score, too, actually.
it tells me not only that i'm doing my job, but that others are doing theirs. it's not about epeens. it's about understanding why you're winning/losing a match and perhaps making adjustments if it's because the healer is camping somewhere afk and no one has noticed yet because the action is coming thick and fast.
i think if you really love the competitive side of pvp (which my wife and i do), you'll use all the tools you can get to get an edge. and information is one of your best tools. only logical really.
I think there has been a fanboi rally - the newer reviews are almost all 10 after 10 after 10 after 10.
Sorry, but seeing a 10 vote on this game is just as ridiculous as the 1-3 votes in my opinion.
Frankly a 0 or 10 for anything seems asinine to me. Unless they make one hell of a case for that high or low of a grade. Which I don't believe I have ever encountered.
0 or 10, yes. but the negative scores range from 0-4. There are actually lots of 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s, which may still be too low, but it's not as bad as all 0s and 10s. The positive scores though? Almost all 10s.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
This is not an MMO, its a lobby game. Zone are instanced.
Thats as much as i read then i just stopped. Because anyone who has played the game knows that this is an outright lie, thats the problem with reviewers, you are allowed to write them without having to prove that you actually played the damn game.

Yeah, well... I wouldn't really put too much stock in the fact that the reviews are mostly negative, since the people who like the game are too busy playing it to care about writing a stupid review.
2.1 out of 10 for MW3? I'm not a COD fan at all, never have been but seriously that's just ridiculous, this is agenda not a game review.
The funny thing is that MW3 and SWTOR are amongst the best selling games in history. Probably also 2 of the most played games at this time (i'm guessing here tho).
Haters express their hate more then lovers express their love. Which makes sense. If you love something you're at peace with it and spend your time with what you love. You don't care if others love it as well, you just enjoy it in your time and space. If you hate something you want to hunt it down and kill it. Human nature.

Rating is up to 5.9 from 5.7 yesterday. Again, mark my words. It's going to keep going up...keep an eye on it for next week or the first of the year. :-)
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

He he. I remember Dallas Dickinson saying exactly the same thing abiut six years ago. Of course, then he was talking about SWG. I wonder whatever became of him?
That's funny how the fan of Swtor here try to defend the lack of any value in player review, when in fact exactly the same reason push people to give low score to Swtor as they did with MW3.
They did it because those game contain no advancement in gameplay, this is all over the net, the people that don't get the message are those in denial. Paying for a new game is supposed to give you a new game, not the same one with a slightly different skin, this is just rip off. Just read the net guys, people are fed off clones. And obviously the reason is not because those game company cannot make advancement, but because they start to refuse doing them.
And honestly Swtor do have some story which is maybe the explanation of a slightly better score. Maybe people are fed up of being cash cow? I mean games are now stupidly expensive, with all those on side payment for solo games, the retail price are also the most expensive of all the entertainment industry, yet you don't see any effort from the industry to make anything. In fact they even begin to use the "we make traditional mmo" as an excuse and a valid explanation of their lack of work, like they did with Rift and Swtor. ANd their explanation is WOW is an EQ clone, so we will do clone as well. We all know its commercial bs, WoW did use the same core but damn it its world between EQ and WOW. There is nothing between Rift and Wow, clearly nothing. And the same principle is working for fps games. Then people wonder why they got trashed? Wake up guys. The reason those game get such lower score than what the quality of the game is, is because of an external reason, that reason weight more than the game quality itself. Stop taking people for morons.
Accept it, or deny it, nobody care really. Fact is the score is super low. Company that will keep on denying the player opinion will probably lost sell very soon as well, maybe they wont, and fan boys will be right, nobody knows really. But you can be sure some people in charge will have material for thought.
It's up to 6 on Metacritic now. On top of that it has some very decent critic reviews as well. There are more people who like the game than not, that score will continue to rise over time.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
After reading over 50 of them I get the sense that many of them are from MMO players in other games who want SWTOR to fail. It's a lot of rehashed whining that has no detail, or modern relevance.

I'd give the game a 9/10, which is high for me!
Aren't you a mmo player who wants to see SWTOR succeed. IRONY!
You just have to actually read them. For example, user reviews are where I learned that Skyrim is basically unplayable on the PS3, which is something you would never see in a pro review.
On top of that it has some very decent critic reviews as well.
Oh please. The "Critics" scores are just as bad as the Users.

None, because the companies they work for get bigtime $$$ for Advertising the game.

Yeah...it's all crap. For comparisons purpose, here are something other MMORPG review averages on metacritic:
WotLK: 91%
WAR: 86%
Rift: 84%
AoC Rise of the Godslayer: 83%
I mean...they gave WAR an 86%. Come on. That game had the fastest meteroric decline in subs I've ever seen.
Professional reviews of MMORPGs are notoriously bad and short sighted.
Most people review on a steep curve that considers average to be bad. This forces any game that's reasonably playable into the 80-90% range. On top of that, I think people just don't know what to look for in an MMO, especially within the first 20 hours of gameplay, and even moreso if they're not really MMO fans. If it seems decent enough, they rate it well, to stay on the safe side.
They might not be outright payed for reviews, but they don't want to risk panning a game that doesn't deserve it. They also don't want to be too subjective, like simply, is this a game the reviewer is going to be playing for months to come? No, that would be unprofessional, except.. seems dishonest to me, not to take that into account. Chances are, with most MMO reviews, no, the reviewer quits as soon as they're done, because much like other regular gamers, the only one that's ever held their attention was WoW.

Good user reviews are much more valuable than professional critic reviews.
Bad user reviews are worthless even more worthless than a bad pro critic review
Most user reviews aren't good.
Therefore using the aggregate number from metacritic is not the way to go.
