HAHAHAHHA LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL how can Bioware fail so hard?
It gets better. Now you can have your smuggler or bounty hunter using Force Choke, lightning, etc, etc.
Yes because we know that in the Star Wars universe nobody can be force sensitive... (sigh)....
you neglect to mention that in order to get something like that you first have to level up a Jedi in your family tree, so the smuggler would be related to the Jedi and thus would have the genes to be force sensitive (IE: leia & luke for example).... but of course people who complain about it not being part of the lore really have no idea if it is or not...
You also fail to mention that you only get ONE power that is on a 20 min CD that you can ONLY use in PvE with a companion out and is part of the Legacy Tree which you have to unlock....

Yea, and who cares? why does it bother you when you can choose not to play it?
I've always been a player in favor of options. The more options the better, be they purely aesthetic or not, and frankly I find bitching about something that gives players more options to be asinine.
Not to mention the fact this change doesn't even really effect gameplay.
They aren't the right options though are they? You can only play a miniscule number of races, all humanoid (so basically exactly the same) that have zero bearing on gameplay or the behaviour of npcs, so you may as well just play human. Character customisation is pitiful and years behind most other mmos. The hair designs are mostly from EQ. It's dreadful.
Options in SWtoR? Don't make me laugh. If there truly were options at launch I might still be playing.
I think Sith Pureblood Jedi and the ability for non-force users to use force abilities can be explained in the lore to a certain extent. On the jedi knight story quest on Tatooine, you can actually turn a Sith NPC to the ways of the Jedi. Likewise, it's not unheard of for non-force users to use force abilities as not all force sensitives are jedi or sith.
The biggest problem I have is honestly the lightsaber color. You never see a Sith in any of the movies without a red lightsaber, and the vast majority of the Sith in the EU also only use a red lightsaber. There are rare exceptions, but with the way MMORPGs end up, a huge percentage of sith are going to be running around with blue and green lightsabers to the point of where you can barely tell they are sith. Of course, you could make that same argument against any of the potentially lore-breaking game features I mentioned.
I dont th ink sith should get green or blue lightsabers, That said this is well before the movies. The reason sith in the movies use red is explained pretty well. They didnt have acess to the crystals for sabers so they had to make there own,
The synthetic crystals gave off a red hue. Thats the only reason they use red and not other colors
that said most of this stuff doesnt bother me. Star wars has money in it and loot bags dont really kill lore. its not star trek where money pretty much went the way of the do do bird.
U also have to make some changes to lore for gameplay purposes as well. I think some people take lore and things to serious and should just enjoy the game and relize that in the long run u arent actually playing in part of the expanded lore but are just lucky to be part of these game worlds be they star wars, star trek or lord of the rings.
They are still mad that you can't get gay with your companions.
Ill have to admit that I am mad about how I cant go gay with my companions.

Well it stops people arguing that the game is piss poor so it's a good if unintentional move by Bioware
i really dont think biowre cares what people post here or other sites. They are smart enough to know that the majority of forum users are negaitve and only want to bash games
They only care how man subs they have and what the players actually playing there game think, They use metrics as well as fan feedback to get this.
Seems to me the company works hard to squash bugs they listen to there playerbase, they do things like fan summits and guild thing to connect with the community,
Ill admit sometimes there cs is slow and they dont always tell u whats being done about the bug u hit, that said they generally do fix them as fast as they can ,
I think the game is a blast and have had no complaints about it. But make no doubt the color crystal thing was made because of fan feedback as was speeder license prices and changes to crafting.
They dont do it for mmorpg people who bash the game but the make a better game for there players,

heres the thing though, the color rescritions actually STOP SITH FROM USING RED LIGHTSABERS. If they're light side, they can't use red, but they're still sith..same with jedi, if they'er dark side but still apart of the jedi order they have to use red. Which is itself lore breaking.
Anakin didn't stop using his blue lightsaber the second he turned to darth vader, he lost it because it fell in lava. and his lightsaber didn't stop working when he went back to the lightside and saved luke..

You are complaining because the RPers are bitching about the aspect of the game that they ENJOY? How is it different than a PvPer bitching about the PvP aspect? How is it different than the PvE'er bitching about the PVE aspect? When PvP folks complained about operative/scoundrel and it got nerfed it screwed the PvE'er's that played that spec and they were pissed and ranting 'PvPers always complain and mess it up for others!'
My point is whatever aspect one enjoys in the game will be the most important to them. Lore means crap to you? That's good. To rpers that is not the case. Just as much as you don't care about lore they generally may not care about your pvp or your pve. So there is nothing wrong with rpers making complaints about the aspect they enjoy just like there is nothing wrong with any other player complaining about the aspect that they enjoy.
And by the way all those special abilities are Heroic abilities. Won't work in full groups, won't work in warzone's and the 20 minute cooldown as someone pointed out and with your companion out. And oh...there was a wookie jedi. That would be Lowbacca.
When lore stands in the way of fun I say screw lore. Give me my T5 Constitution refit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. I'm saying lore should always come in second behind a fun gameplay experience, and I'm also saying that it seems to be the RPers who're largely bitching about and scrutinizing every single change bioware makes.

I applaud your defense of RP'ers. Several posters have been talking about RP'er preferences as if they didn't matter AT ALL. Well, frankly....I don't give a shit about PvP'ers preferences, but I don't make threads dogging them for having opinions and desires in the game. I mean seriously. Different playstyles, but they're all valid and "as much as POSSIBLE" they should all be able to have their playstyle catered to ingame.
Really, atm....PvP'ers are getting the shaft, so I think they have a particularly crucial right to bitch. It's just that I don't care for being told I have no right to bitch just because I RP. Bullshit.

Now, heres the thing. I -AM- a RPer. But I also believe that game design should come before lore. There is a reason "gameplay and story segregation" even exist, because devolpers know gameplay should trump story every time if you have to make a choice between the true. Lets face it, if your immersion is so weak that it gets shattered because of something you don't personally like, you're either not a good roleplayer or the game isn't good enough for you.

Star Wars has a huge RP'er fan base and has had one for many years due to the table top RPG pnp game of Star Wars. It is such a well established lore and backdrop that even I think Mr Lucas is messing with it to much in his re-release of the blue ray films.
I am dissapointed that BioWare are going to let the Empire players have access to other colour crystals. But most of all I am dissapointed with the whole game, it has nothing new added to it other than voices. And the graphics are cartoonish like WoW.
I am also upset that they people fly about the fleet stations on speeders.
I like the direction the game has gone in with the 1.2 Patch, no matter the game there is always some crowd or section of the community lobbying to get it's point across & have the game be the way they want it.
Compromises & concessions get balanced against the ideas the devs have, what Lucasarts wants & what opposition to those ideas there are.
