You know it is getting bad when the pro tips guy leaves town.
yeah because he is under obligation to keep paying for SWTOR, maybe he enjoyed his 3 months and need a break? you know people quit and come back all the time to MMOS. Only he knows we can only speculate.
It's a fun game for awhile. I quit and resubbed and then quit again. Basically I'm just going month to month.
But last two weeks my light side points are bugged and no longer increase so it feels like I can't advance my character. Customer support said it's a known issue. Well then they should fix it....
You've got to be kidding. Another bug? There must be literally thousands of bugs in this game still. Every time I run into one it pisses me off. Especially when I know I reported them and probably dozens of other people did too and yet STILL they remain unfixed. When my sub runs out, I'm afraid I too am gone due to this very matter. Too many bugs left unfixed for too long. And I have been a kind of meek cheerleader for the game since it has remained fun for me since I started playing, but my characters are neither one maxed and I'm probably going to be leaving before I finish the story on either one. That irritates me too. But I feel like out of principle....they're forcing my hand by not fixing bugs. I can't keep supporting that.
yeah and that was the same amount that the financial director claimed they had at the beginning of feb 2012 a few days before he quit. there's not possible way that they didn't have sub fluctuations of ANY kind up or down in that time, before joytiq put out this statement. It's simply mathematically impossible.

This is exactly what i have been doing with WoW, Rift, and now Swtor. I will do the same with TERA. I dont like the commitments of subscriptions so when i feel like playing Rift i buy 1 month, when i feel like playing WoW i buy 1 month, and same for Swtor. (and TERA)

Clearly you jest sir. Obviously these numbers are very different since it was majority before and now it is vast majority. Completely different scenarios.
>_>
This shit is hilarious if you really think about it.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I like the game and I'm still subbed but to deny that the population is shrinking is delusional. I know my server has suffered a VERY severe decline in population.
I did a forum search and did not see this posted anywhere. I hadn't seen a new Pro Tips cartoon in a while and wondered why. I found out that Steve Hamaker, creater of the Pro Tips comic strip had canceled his account. When I was looking forward to SWTOR pre-launch - I used to read every comic he had. Now every day I watch the population of people playing SWTOR getting smaller and smaller.
Here we go again. NO, is not getting ¨smaller and smaller¨. You really want to see this game fail?, it wont happen. It have like 1.7 mill of subs, with a projection of 2 mill by the end of june. Just come back here again and tell me how dead the game is after the 1.2 update.
sorry to say it will fall down.
And your vested interest is what exactly?!?!?
You don't like the game good for you why even waste your time posting on the boards of a game you don't like. And what exactly do you guys get for being correct? Not even credit from my experience on mmorpg.com.
I think we've all been in an mmo with a low population and other than maybe wishing there were more people to play with how exactly would that effect the people who like the game? For me not at all I layed LOTRO from launch after playing WOW for years and obviously the population shift took some getting used to but I assure you that it didn't effect how I felt about the game as a whole.
And that goes the same for folks around here who enjoy TOR your opinions of what will happen whether true or not will have no bearing on how they feel about playing there game so stop trolling and focus your energy on something YOU enjoy as opposed to trying to nit pick with people simply because they enjoy something you can't
This is a forum they have a right to discuss these issues with the game..
This is mmorpg.com and negativity is what drive these forums. Just look at any other MMO on this wesbite and you will find these hardcore posters who would want the game to crash and burn. But the most interestign aprt is that they sing different tune when it comes to their own favorite MMOS. Double standards and hypocricy is a norm here.
Because Bioware respesents everything wrong with the video game industry
Seems to me that hating a game is THE hip thing around here. So many people want to see this game fail, and I understand. EA is the boogyman, and I get that too. What I am still not able to wrap my head around is the whole obsession about watching this game, or any other fail.
I am not going to defend SWTOR, hell I am not even speaking specifically about SWTOR, but just the vibe in general on these forums.
Don't play a game if you don't like it, even flame away if you bought it and feel burned, but damn, some people just cannot seem to let a bad game--any game--go.
QFT. It never ceases to amaze me, not in that people have negative comments about a game, but their need to voice them over and over and over several times a day, particularly when they don't play it, and have no interest in playing it.
It's like me going to a Glee forum day in, day out just ripping on the show. It WILL NEVER BE a show I like, and THEY'll NEVER REPLACE IT with a show that I do like. Their time would be better spent verifying thread counts on their bedsheets.
Its the same mentality as going to a video of a band you know you hate on youtube, pausing the video so it doesn't play and just posting comments about how much they suck. Do these guys go to justin bieber videos just to say how much he sucks and looks like a girl?

I was telling such as him, to write to me in a year time. Guess i was overly optimistid , they dont dare to show their faces even after 2 months ... lol
..How do you know he quit if he never shows his face? maybe he enjoys the game SOOOOO MUCH that he never has time to come here?
I stopped playing the game, I didn't enjoy it so I quit. Simple as that. It has its flaws, every game does. How many, and what kind of flaws you can deal with however are personal to each player. I also don't feel its my right to go to a forum or ANYWHERE just to tell fans of something how much it sucks, because I'm not so narassicistic as to think that my opinion matters at ALL in the grand scheme of things.
Playing Nothing waiting for The secret world Played WoW, DCU online, star wars: the old republic, city of heroes, city of villains, everquest, plenty more I'm probably forgetting or aren't worth noting.
I like the game and I'm still subbed but to deny that the population is shrinking is delusional. I know my server has suffered a VERY severe decline in population.
I am there with you. I like this game a lot, and will play it for a while still. That said, I am not wearing blinders. I know the game is hurting, and folks are leaving.
But our server is growing, however, it seems like its mostly rerolls from dead servers. I know three of the four new people I had dealings with in the past week were rerolls. And for that matter, on the server I play on now, *I* am a reroll.
People who feel like their server is crowded are probably experiencing this too.
they cant help themselves, According to them star wars has dipped to 1.2 mil subs at most while bioware insists they have 1.7 milion subs at this time most of them paying subs
you know when Bioware insists that 'most' of them are paying subs that could mean 1 guy is paying and will be spun as 'most'

To be technical. Most = a majority. They could have 51% be paying subs and it would still be most by deffinition, so that would, at least, require 8.6K paying subs, roughly.

It's not that hard to believe. Many people bought multi-month subscriptions. Even if they quit playing, they are still being counted until those run out. Like the comic strip guy.
I quit too. It was cool for the first week or so, as one is enamoured in the glamour of voice acting and cutscenes. Then you realize that:
1.) it takes too f*ing long to get anywhere. Between loadscreen, spaceship, loadscreen, run run run run, loadscreen, shoot yourself in the head.
2.) the pvp warzones are shallow, boring, unbalanced, and WTF huttball <----WORST F*ING PVP IDEA EVER.
3.)the Legacy system is poorly implemented, stupid, and (maybe this is a personal issue) when you do add a last name YOU CANT CHANGE IT and are stuck with it across all your characters on a server (Republic and Sith alike) *** This more then anything broke my immersion when my alts all became the same family name. Retarded. They don't warn you that it will be implemented like this.
4.) there are millions of reasons why, and I don't care THAT much.
5.) Dark side/Light Side? Who cares - pick up diplomacy rock up and down that meter all day long.
I just wanted to share my opinion. I wasted my time and money to be honest.
And as one poster mentioned; what's the vested interest in hoping it fails? That EA goes bankrupt and stops making graphical 'choose your own adventures' and opens up the market for more creative and visionary teams. I know, fat chance.

no, i really do not want to see this game fail. I had high hopes for it, bought the CE, pay over 100 a year for vent, I am on a medium pop server. Sadly i am just watching people drop daily. I wasn't here to flame, I am just posting my disappointment that even an enthusiast of the game (Steve Hamaker) has stopped playing.
lol, its cute how hard the haters are trying to believe this game is failing. I believe some of them may never realize the truth, that this game is a success overall and will have a healthy longlasting life.

isnt it good that consumers are voting with their hard earned cash and saying no the companies that arent interested in developing what the majority of the general mmorpg community want.

I still dont believe it. What regions is this game available in and how many servers are there in each and what is the max population that those servers can handle? Thats the kind of stats I want to see.
who wants a game that sucks to succeed? Of course we want it to fail, but that's irrelevant. I quit within the first month and EVEN THEN my server was about dead.
