"You didn't play past this time, so you have no right to judge the game" ... like Oh I'm sorry I didn't know I had no opinion on the game until I watsed 100 hours of my life lol.
I have kind of mixed feelings about this one.
While I agree if a game doesn't entertain you from the start, its really not worth sitting through the crap to get to the "good part", its also impossible to form an informed opinion about something you haven't really tried.
Basically I think its the difference between claiming a game you've never really played sucks, versus simply stating it didn't catch your interest.

Funny, I compare WoW to McDonalds in a totally non-supportive way.
"It may be popular, but everyone knows its garbage"is usually about how it goes for me.
I usually say that half-jokingly. I dont like WoW, but it seems to at least have a clear target audience and does a good job of pleasing them.
Not really a cliche, but one I use all the time is "Wow is already good at being WoW" This one is for all the failed or barely hanging in games that try to mimic WoW.
-The people that use xfire to support their estimation on subscription numbers.
-The people that claim WoW ruined the MMORPG genre.
-The people that claim that WoW's graphics are too cartoony.
-The people that complain that WoW is too easy.
-The people who played UO/Meridian 59/EQ/AC/Anarchy Online (insert early mmorpg), consider themselves a "Veteran" of mmorpgs and believe this makes their opinion superior to other mmorpg players.
-The people who claim DAoC's pvp was the best ever.
-The people who complain about games being "WoW clones"
-The people LF a "TRUE" sandbox.
-The people who actually believe they can design a better game - but have never designed anything in their life.
-The people who miss the "freedom" in early MMOS (most other people call it lack of direction, but to each their own)
-The people who don't want their "hands held" in a themepark game.
-The same people who don't want their "hands held" in a themepark game but refuse to play any of the sandbox games (DARKFALL IS STUPID - EVE IS BORING - MO IS THE WORST GAME EVER - RRAAAAWR)
Always was fasinated when people defend their game with the sentence....It's only beta.... yeah right like the gaming studio will make a complete overhaul of the game within 1 month before release.
The people who rush to defend negativity. On a similar note, the people who rush to defend intolerance. "You have the right to be gay, just like I have the right to hate you for it". I wish we could evolve past this. Maybe someday.

"I looked up the oldest mmo on the list here and claimed it as my first in order to gain clout"
That one is a gem. A title that probably fewer than 5K people ever played, yet every one of them ends up posting on the forums here.
I also like people who rattle off their MMORPG pettigree, usually with a list of 25 games or so, makes you wonder if they ever really liked any of them since their tenure in them had to be short.
Really, fewer than 5000 ever played Meridian 59? I guess I am special then, although I admit I didn't play it long as there wasn't much to do I thought. I do remember though seeing another player for the first time and running away as scared as can be LOL. Only real memory I have of it anymore though...
As for my favorite cliche though, I like "But the developer of game XXX really cares about the players not the money"
From Wikipedia, fwiw, "More than 25,000 players joined the game's public beta that lasted up until its commercial launch on September 27, 1996,"
I installed it and played it a little bit. Too many technical difficulties and UO was coming out soon. Think I went back to Dragonrealms until then.
If it's no open world PVP, it's not sandbox.
Never could grasp that one, but I read it all the time.
Ah, the perfect opportunity for another cliche, "never trust anything you read on Wikipedia"
I guess I stand corrected, I'm surprised that more than 25K people had internet connectivty back in 1996 but then my memory isn't what it used to be.
Amazing they all ran over to play Meridian 59, first real MMORPG I read/heard about was UO, and yet stayed away from the genre until Lineage 1/ DAOC in 2002. Every review I read about MMO's called them crap, turns out the magazine I relied on (CGW) just had an unnatural hatred for online gaming.

If the arguments themselves weren't so tired, then the cliche responses wouldn't be either.

Dude, no...but it does have potential..
Sticky this thread. It should be required reading.
I know. But the people who need to read it aren't going to read it.
I have another one... People that think everyone else is the problem when they are as bad.
OP, you know what would be really cool like?
If you'd assemble them all (minus the duplicates) in the OP in a long list.
You can have one of my golden stars and +1k post count if you make that happen.

I see what you did there.
