DIABLO 3 IS NOT AN MMO!
Stop comparing it to MMOs! Jesus Christ, the staff at MMORPG can't seem to let Diablo 3 just BE another genre game that released.
It is an ACTION RPG! Similarly, you don't see FPS games being actively reported on as having "an impact" on WoW's bottom line. So why the hell should Diablo 3 impact anything MMO related? They're TWO seperate market types, and people aren't going to quit WoW to play Diablo 3 as their new "online attraction". Quite simply, since Diablo 3 was never made to be as in-depth as an MMO, it won't keep MOST people for more than a month actively unlike an MMO.
For the love of god MMORPG.com, it's like you literally have NOTHING to report on! We're even seeing more "paid" advertisements in the form of reviews now.

Don't get my wording wrong, I'm not angry. I just like adding emphasis to things that require it 
! I'll be angry when another "MMORPG Staff" article compares Diablo 3 to another MMO though.

the problem is, why should mmorpg.com care and write articles about games that are not mmos. Why is diablo 3 listed in mmorpg list?

Then why should it be on MMORPG.com, and why should it affect WoW's bottom line?

FPS games are ALSO relevant to MMORPG players, because they're gamers and aren't strictly associated with MMO's as their only gaming source. HOWEVER, that's why FPSguru was made because we complained about the encouraged talk about FPs on an MMO site.
Similarly, ARPG's like Diablo 3 should NOT be on this site. Get them off, and stop comparing them anywhere near MMORPG's. Seriously, it's getting old.

Why are everybody raging so much about this subject? Many MMORPG visitors are probably interested in Diablo 3. Me for example.
Why should they take it off when clearly many people find the articles interesting, just becuase it differs a little bit from MMORPGS. Personaly I see it somewhere between FPS AND MMORPG but much much closer to MMORPG.

I can definately understand both sides of the argument here, but it's not completely fair to single out just Diablo 3 for this. I went through the game list and found at least 7 other games that shouldn't be listed on this site. If Diablo 3 is going to be removed for being an action RPG with an Online Multiplayer function, I feel that the following games should be removed as well:
Blacklight: Retribution
Crimecraft
Hellgate
Phantasy Star Universe
Phantasy Star Online 2
Tribes: Ascend
Torchlight 2
All of those games don't fit the criteria of an MMO either. They all of Lobbies (whether graphical based or not) and should also be included in this debate.
SO, let me get this straight..
This game, is absolutely, 100% for definite, NOT a game type that it's creators (of all people!) have NEVER called it? Colour me surprised! (I think that is a pinky/rainbowish colour)

I thought Diablo 3 was an action RPG or hack 'n' slash if you will.
Never knew it was between a FPS and MMORPG.
I quess I didn't know you played it in first person with guns and hundreds of people in the same persistent world.

- We voted to have it on the site: a majority was in favor
- We shouldn't be anal in regards to the site's actual name, I think, as:
- It's an rpg
- It's online
- It allows for multiplaying
- There is a huge overlap in mmorpg fans and hack & slash fans
- Also more popular featured games = more hits = bigger advertising revenues. (Can't blame the staff to try and make some money to buy oats with to not starve in real life).
I for one, welcome our new hack & slash overlords. Especially since most current mmorpg's aren't really ringing my bell anyway.

MMO players DO care about Diablo 3 and this site features content that is relevant and important mmo players. It's been discussed more than any other game on this site since it came out. This is because MMO players are talking about it. Who ever said that only MMO's can be talked about on MMORPG.com? Nobody except the people who want to complain for no good reason.
How dare MMORPG have other games not specifcally to there genre/site name! How dare they!

Seriously, there are tons of people that cross over from mmo's to APRG like D3 myself included. I like these forums and reading the D3 news here. It saves me the heartache of searching over on blizzard forums which I don't really like. So *hugs* MMORPG! Keep those haters hatin'! It just means your doing something right!
The WoW article you linked was merely saying it'll take some numbers off of WoW and give a nice lil break for people. Have you actually seen a MMORPG comparison article? Ya know where they go Game A: Has this, this and this. And Game B: Has this, that, and this. Conclusion: yada yada yada.. Didn't see that there mate.

D3 is about as much MMO as GW1 is in my opinion.
Well, the hackers clearly think D3 is an MMO.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

Why are you trying to tell people what to do with their own website?
MMORPG.com is just a name and nice url. They cover tons of things out of the mmorpg area and always have; Planetside, Torchlight, Age of Empires Online, World of Tanks etc. If Diablo III bugs you for some reason then you might as well get used to it cos it's gunna be around for a long while yet on almost every gaming site.
Shields of "I do not care if they do not agree" are up. GW1 is a avatar chat room with Diablo runs that a small amount of people can do together.
On the bright side, because D3 is listed on MMORPG.com, I have the opportunity to air my complaints about it.
