It's official, Arche Age has been ruined. After so long of waiting and however long I was still going to have to wait beyond this post, I no longer have to wait.
This is what finally did it for me:

Like all other Asian influenced games, they somehow have to completely ruin it with something that just doesn't make sense.
Anyway, I'm not here to gripe. I just want to know is there any other games on the horizon that have really interesting exploration with the added bonus of ships and nautical warfare? Preferably something that is medieval fantasy based.

Cars LOL.. shame really but as long as they keep them to specific race courses then i can just ignore them.. if they are just like mounts well as you said its ruined..
Still the only mmo im looking forward to this year is the repopulation .
Maybe Black Desert will be the game people wanted ArcheAge to be. We'll have to wait and see. There's not enough info on that game yet.
Seriously, I start to wonder if the prerequisite for being a game developer these days is a drug problem...
The cars arn't that bad, I think the mounts seem actually worse than the cars.
But then again AA seems more like a pipe dream to most. Its a bunch of random features that are done loosely and not fully fleshed out. Not to mention Trion will be the publisher. Look at how many times they screwed up patches in Defiance and failed to patch content. Not to mention the combat is less fluid than WoW.
Just go on to youtube and watch the videos of K-AA and see for your self how the game really is.
i'll still try archeAge but i hate when companies break the immersion like that.
the least they coulda done was make them external combustion style steampunk cars.
i think it's a cultural thing; a lot of asian games (atlantica...) have this kind of anachronism and it always bugs me...
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
Currently Playing EVE, ESO
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

who cares .. its funny xD AA ftw
OP relax
Yeah, possibly because things from the industrial revolution where imported to that side of the world, which was still essentially feudal. But then it's not uncommon, WoW has motorbikes and macadam roads...
Chillax folks.
I could understand if this was based on some familiar fantasy world, but who are we to decide cars are lore breaking or hurt the immersion factor. People really thought they were going to have urban settings with Red Light Districts with glass windows and electric lighting, gliders, magic, but oooh cars are off limits?
Now if your upset over the badly animated and completely unnecessary flip the car does....yeah...that was pretty lame.

Already have a few of my universal guilds reconsidering putting this on their game list. Guess I'll just have to see what the votes say, as those who were supposed to lead that division are the ones now leading the rejection process. Kind've pressing the pedal too soon, I'd say, since we don't really have more information on these things that -- for all intents and purposes -- shouldn't be present for the sake of the world's presumed immersion.
Seems awfully goofy. I wouldn't write this game off simply because there were vehicles. Perhaps they may fit somewhere in the theme of the game. (Maybe they are used on a specific race course?) But honestly even as far as cars go, these ones don't even look that great. Very plain and somewhat odd. The horse animations on the other hand look very fluid and impressive.
My hesitation with Archeage is that it is an eastern creation. I have never been a big fan of these styles of games, to me there is a disconnect with alot of the content mostly because of the style and difference in what I am used to with western games. I certainly wouldn't rule it out on that basis however as I see alot of creativity and uniqueness to be excited about.
Holy shit we already on the level of having universal guilds?
We found aliens?
sorry couldnt resist
Anyway, yeah the cars look goofy, but then its common asian procedure

lol, 100% the op will be playing the game and is just being a drama queen.
Games are supposed to be fun and don't have to make sense, that's what's so great about them.
I will drive one of them cya in-game
WoW has rocket ships, race cars, helicopters, dirigibles, aircraft carriers, transporter technology (from "star trek"), pod racers (from "star wars"), steamboats, mecha chickens, mech horses, reaper bots, steam tanks, steam catapults, steam rams, etc, etc. I'm sure Arche Age is hoping to be "officially ruined" like WoW.

you were just looking for a reason to dislike it right?
lol, yeah this silliness is a huge bone of contention with me.
hate this sh*t.

I actually don't play wow and those reasons are some of the reasons. I hate WoW's art design and I hate most of the stuff you listed.
I know this is hard for some to understand, I really do, but certain levels of anachronism just don't fly with some people. Myself included.
