    Okay Fadeus.

I still maintain that CU brought a lot of good to the game, even though others disagree.

This was the one thing they did right, but most disagree with my observation.

I know, I was saying it before you. My largest complaints were the damage multiplier and the fact that they turned it combat-centric and removed the non-combat aspects of the game almost completely.

CU was about 3 steps forward and 1 step back

NGE is about 15 steps back and 1 step forward... IF they finish off the quest driven content.

ok here's my view of wat has happened to this game. i had been playing for a long time before the first CU.

basically this game was once the best online game out there, well thats an opinion i should say it was the most innovative and unique game out there. then came the CU.... that messed up a bit. it mostly made me lose hope. then the NGE came out and that struck a blow i will never forget. cutting down 20+ professions to a lousy 9. wow what happened? another mistake was making jedi a starting profession. now all i see in game (when i go to my friends) is jedi. what is the challenge of starting out as a jedi? ppl whined becuz jedi were to over powered. my idea was that they deserved to be overpowered because they put so much time into become that character. lets look in to the SW universe was it easy to become a jedi? no it wasnt.but now its the easiest thing. i was a CH and now i cant even control my pet (i have a char on my friends comp) it disgusts me at the thought of wat they did. the servers are at light and very light my guild (crimson nebula) is 90% gone. its not a community anymore. its to late no matter wat they do. they have tarnished the name of SOE and SW games alike.i know ppl that will never touch a SOE game. its too late for SOE . and wat makes me lose any hope i used to have in the SWG community was that if u go to the SWG official forums and talk about this they bash you and yell.image

its over for SWG or at least its coming soon.

I disagree. The Combat Levels and the damage mitigation was HORRIBLE... gamebreaking to me. Everything good the CU brought was window dressing.

Wepps, that's your opinion and I respect it.  But the way I see it it's that a lot of people blindedly supported the CU because it didn't screw them over, or at least "didn't touch their side of the game" if you know what I mean.  So the majority of the supporters had a "It's not a problem if it doesn't affect me!" mentality.  The CU bashers knew better.  Now the NGE comes and screws just about everyone!  That's why people like me feel entiteled to say I told you so to the community and supporters.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

When I first logged in to experience the NGE, it didn't bother me except for the fact that all my friends had quit the game, lol.. that's the worst part.  My server is dead compared to what it used to be.  I'm hoping it's because people are gone for the holidays, lol.  But I think the new interface is ugly and the manual targeting and new chat style drives me crazy.  I wish they gave us the option of the old control style.  As a preCU jedi, I feel that I've really been screwed over.  Was all that hard work done so that I can glow blue? rofl. I've been trying to adapt to it, but I think I'll be leaving if changes aren't made.  I'll go ahead and predict that SWG will remain active throughout '06 but changes will obviously occur.  Darn, I should've sold my account on Ebay when I had a chance. image

HAH!!! So Elnator and Erillion, still think I look "stupid" when I delcared that SWG dies within one year back in August? I have this nasty little habit of being right all the time... I think even AA chastized me as being an idiot about making this prediction... With all the bad publicity, the best 'stop gap' scenario is to shut the servers down to at least qualm the horrible press this game is getting, namely the bad name SW is getting as a whole in the online community... Star Trek online is in the horizons, and SWG2 needs to happen quickly to cash in on the Sci-Fi MMO'ers cuz STO will take a majority of them... As Ace Ventura once said:
"Man I'm tired of being right!!!!!"
Squidi is no longer around either, coincidentally he left right after I posted that he was a SOE plant... Coincidence? I think not...
Wow, talk about an inflated F**king ego!
The game IS NOT dead and I very seriously doubt they are going to close it down any time soon. I dont know exactly what you are claiming to be right about. IF the game closes down before August 2006, feel free to bask in the glory of your prediction. As it stands the game is not dead, the server I play on is packed ... (every day I might add) and people seem to be enjoying the game!
What a lot of people fail to realise is that they are moving away from the elitest (I have the best rifle, space ship etc) type of game and making it far more accessible. Do you think this will kill the game? It will kill it for the vets, no doubt about that. I gotta tell you that I'm loving it and I am not alone.
I'm not here to defend it. If you don't like it, you don't like it. I'm not going to try and change your mind. After reading the negativity in here before I downloaded the trial I was expecting empty servers but everywhere I go there are players old and new.
In closing, hate away. I did the same thing when the first CU came out and I left the game. It really boils down to this : Come to terms with the fact that SWG is radically changing and deal with it OR move on. Nothing you say or do and no amount of wishing bad thoughts on SWG will kill it. It may not be around forever, but I can pretty much GUARANTEE you it will live through 2006.
    S

first of all the servers are NOT packed theyre always on light or at best medium population

second of all if ur still on the trial then ur being lied to about how the REAL game really is so calm down about all this 'im not the only one enjoying the game' sure maybe all the newbs still going thru the space station crap love it

well just w8 til u get out to see the real swg and this opinion will change very fast

The servers are TOTALLY dead.  Good luck trying to fin any of you guildies online or friends anymore.  Cities are ghost towns, and kep in mind, the NGE was pushed Nov15th, almost 1 month ago, wait till everyoe who has cancelled but is still waiting for the subscription to run out is gone, it will be a ghost town x100.

    Shame they killed the game

I am no longer offering opinions on rumors due to the wish washing of SOE.  However, I will say that there *are* still a lot of people playing SWG.  The servers are not packed, however I was around SWG within a month of release so I have seen a lot of ups and downs.  One time when I returned after CU I thought the game was completely dead until I had played for over a week.  Then I learned the new hubs and whahlah, there were a ton of people playing.

I will say this:  SOE has kept EQ running for quite some time with little to no actual "new" subscribers.  Yes they did server merges, but in the end the population has re-stabilized.  I suspect that in the end, SWG is going to stabilize somewhere but not disappear all together.

Thats quite possible but there is another factor in play here and thats Lucas Arts. EQ is SOE's and they can do with it as they wish, but Lucas is another matter entirely. Will they settle for their Star Wars license to be locked up in an MMO with no future and a tiny subscription base like EQ? That remains to be seen.

Excellent point!  SOe does not have to pay licenscing fees for EQ, but it does have to pay them for Star Wars.

The scary thing over the NGE is how quickly population dropped.  The day it was launched every server was at least on heavy, most on extemely heavy.  Within 12 hours they dropped to medium and kept on going.

My server (Starsider) is pretty much a ghost town. It's sad that SOE & Lucas Arts couldn't find some better way to new and improve SWG.

Before the CU I gave the game a 10, after the CU I gave the game a 7. The NGE totally disgusts me and I rate the game a 1.

I subscribe to swg 1 month after it release, and .. since then, never been able to play more than an hour .. it's always bored me. When the CU came out, I left, it feeled soo bad, But, I came to try the NGE .. and I can't stop playing, I rerolled a new toon, and I still play

What I miss is the thing that are not really fixed.

No weapon really work (they all do the same dmg),
I miss the crafter who had to really worked to do the best weapon and armor

But, I love the new gameplay ... ! It feel more sw than it had be

Pre-CU was convoluted, although it depends on what time period you're talking about.

IMMEDIATELY after release, say around August/July 2003, the pre-CU system was perfectly okay. No Jedi, no uber-strong buffs, and lots of teamwork and resourcefulness on the part of players.

I don't think Jedi ruined the game, nor even the Holocron system. What ruined it for me was the reliance on Doc buffs. Logging on to stand in line to get buffs, then dying and losing the buffs only to stand in line again. And, when you got the doc buffs, you were INVINCIBLE and could take on 3 rancors. Rediculous!

The CU was the best improvement to the game since release. There, you were given more HP as you levelled. No one was standing in line. We still could mix-and-match professions. There was an actual system put back in place instead of a bunch of loopholes the pre-CU system had for players to turn on "God mode"

After the CU, you only had to worry about one bar falling instead of some crappy "Mind" pool that could never be healed. The levels system was fine, and the Devs made the right call on that - pre-CU did have a level system and the CU only made it more apparent.

The problem with the CU was that all of the REAL content was on Kashyyyk, and when you were done with that, you were pretty much done. The new Jedi system kinda sucked, as well.

The NGE, however, is a mixed bag, but is overall looking to be a failure. I cancelled, yet I liked the NGE. I just got to a point where there were other games (non-MMORPGs) that entertained me more (Battlefront 2, etc) and I couldn't justify it to myself to keep going. Sure would have helped if they had released 30-80 content at release.

The fact that I re-spec'ed to Jedi and had to scour the Galaxy for resources to craft a lightsaber (after all the resource hogs bought them up) contributed, too. Any Jedi can craft a friggin' lightsaber! I made a low level one, and apparently it gets more complicated, but it was a waste either way.

does george lucas or (anyone asscociated with him for that matter) play this game? i bet he'd be pissed if he saw what SOE did to the SW universe (i mean the great game of SWG). you wat else pisses me off? a bunch of players petitioned to get the game changed back and SOE repied back (this took place after the CU).

"thank you for you opinion on how we could change the game. we shall take it into consideration"

then i posted about it on the official forums and after some rude comments my post was deleted....image
