Nobody wants to waste their Saturday night wiping so you can be "surprised". Its not 2003 anymore, the shits on YouTube, look up the fight and don't waste my time dying to stupid shit.
Having said that, watch your cutscenes. You spent 50 levels to get to see them, so enjoy them.
complain to the devs, and who said 50 levels? this crap starts at level 5 in a couple mmos.
I considered trying this game, but this does it for me. I will never play a game where I'm supposed to memorize boss fights just to win them.
I can only speak from experience and so far I have done following dungeons and my evaluation of those:
1. lv15 Sastasha => No need to memorize
2. lv16 The Tam-Tara Deepcroft => No need
3. lv17 Copperbell Mines => No need
4. lv20 Haltali => No need
5. lv24 The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak => No need
Then about the "boss fights":
1. The Bowl of Embers lv20 => If you are new you may wipe the first round due to not knowing exactly how dangerous a certain obstacle is; but the second time around you'll do fine.
--------------------------------------
I don't know how it will be in further up dungeons, but I am making sure to not read any guides prior to doing the content, so that I can see them from newbie fresh eyes XD.

I agree that nobody wants to waste time, but on the other hand If they think wiping is a waste of time maybe they should go play another game..
Wiping is part of the games learning curve, you should NOT have to look up a dungeon and spoil all the fun before playing. Not EVERY player is fine with looking at spoiler vids on you tube just to make sure hes not wiping the group
Ok so you are playing with other people , and that is a sign that you should do your best in the situation, but I would NEVER tell anyone that they should look up a vid on You Tube, explain the fight if you know it for the rest of the Group, thats part of the gameplay, you tube vids are cheating and not part of it..
-Forcing an entire group to waste their evening sitting out for you, wiping over and over and waiting for you to grasp concepts that the game has been teaching you for 30 levels in a row = Selfless and Good
-Getting ready and expecting everyone else to be = Selfish and the cancer of this community.
Are you guys serious?
I am the Guild Master of a family oriented guild full of newbies to the genre and people who do not have the time to really get much done on a daily basis and even us try our best to be geared, ready and know at least the very basics of the fights we face.
Stop using the "omfg rushers are selfish" excuse to do nothing by yourself and pretend for everything to be served and explained to you and have entire groups of people bend to your "needs".
Exploring the game and experiencing the content is fine, understandable and desirable, but you can´t make an entire group of people waste their evening for your enjoyment.
People with your attitude are the reason I dislike MMO communities as a whole. The only reason you consider wiping a 'waste of time' is because of your loot whore mentality. Guess what, dungeons are as much about the experience as they are the loot (or at least they SHOULD be). Some of my fondest memories come from runs where my party wiped over and over again trying to come up with sound strategies for tough pulls and bosses. And you know what, there was actually a huge sense of accomplishment when we finally cleared everything.
Protip: Exercise that brain of yours & figure things out for yourself, rather than following somebody else's directions like a fucking lemming. Who knows, you might actually have some FUN in the process. Better yet, go play an ARPG; those types of games are much more suited to seekers of PHAT LEWTZ such as yourself.
'Waste of time.' Give me a break. Anyone else remember the days when games were actually played for fun, with loot being secondary?
I am not gonna bother answering all the crap and random accusations you spew because something made up of wild assumptions crumbles under it´s own, ridiculous weight.
However, let me repay your "protip" with one of my own.
Protip: What you consider "fun" may not be "fun" for someone else and no, your fun is not "the right fun".
No assumptions made. Your post identifies your mentality clear as day. Other than delaying your 'instant gratification', there's no reason whatsoever to become upset about either wiping or having to take two minutes or less of your precious time to explain a fight / pull.
I've better things to do than engage in a battle of wits with an opponent who is clearly unarmed. Thank God for the block feature. Ciao!
As my tank class i generally wander through the dungeons aimlessly with an unsuspecting group. They believe i have done this before. What they do not know is i have no idea where im going. It's not until we've cleared a couple rooms before i announce im new and have no idea where im going.
Some people care. Most dont.
I like your style :-)
I'm in the end zone and the chat is all - must be experienced, must have gear 60+, no new players - without exception. Just been viewing it once again this morning. New leveled players - try to find a free company or linkshell where they will help you through your first HM instances.
Because if you just read the "must have" chat, you'll come to a dead stop as players block you for not being further progressed - which is the ultimate contradiction.
-Forcing an entire group to waste their evening sitting out for you, wiping over and over and waiting for you to grasp concepts that the game has been teaching you for 30 levels in a row = Selfless and Good

This guy is so cute.
" I am right and ure wrong, you suck and you are also stupid and ugly, i am not playing with you anymore "
ya its kinda the current pug mentality atm. I know the fights but I agree it gets old seeing ppl rush players who havent seen the cutscenes and be mean to those who are new to the fights (as a tank I study bosses before I go in, which also kinda ruins the newness of figuring the boss out, but I don't want to get bitched at). What I have done is find a good free company and run dungeons w/ friends when I want a good time, and use duty finder when I'm desperate. Working so far.
I always like helping new or inexperienced players through things in MMOs, it always seems more rewarding than blowing through stuff with a group of vets. This is, of course, assuming the person person isn't an idiot or annoying. Too many people equate being new with being bad, which is far from the same thing.
Also already seeing people grieving over those waiting on cinematics.
Please don't 'WoW' this game up....I'm rather enjoying it.
If you can't handle the behavior of children don't play MMORPGs.
I'm all for letting people watch the cinematics, but to defend those who get aggravated, the viewing of cutscenes from your inn room serves a purpose, and this is it.
Why complain about something that has absolutely zero impact on you?
You aren't obligated to group with anybody specific, so just don't group with people when you don't like how they form groups. Simple, no?
The content in this game starts out very simple and ramps up. It doesn't take much time or effort to learn a little about the content before you do it to avoid "educational wiping." No matter how amazing you may think you are, you probably won't figure out all fights during the fights without dying a lot, and if you're with people who do know what they're doing, all you do is waste their time. Do you like having your time wasted?
I don't mind explaining stuff to people, and usually end up explaining fights at least half the time I tank instances, because I'd rather get the fight done than wipe repeatedly while some genius takes multiple tries to figure it out, if they ever DO figure it out.
I see no problem with people who have done content to death wanting to repeat the content for the 50th time with other people who know the content. After the 20th time of explaining everything to that one inevitable one person who's never done it, it gets kind of old.
And again, you don't have to group with anybody specific. If you'd rather do the small bits of challenging content with a group of people who have no clue and who can't be bothered to learn anything without wiping for hours, then have at it.
Ah, and this proves the point perfectly. You can log in and "play" the game like a second job all you want. Earthlings will play to have fun. I will take the groups that may wipe out but have fun regardless over the groups of tightly wound anuses that burst a blood vessel when one "trash" mob gets away. If that crap is fun for you then have at it, my time and money are way too important to deal with asshats.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Please don't 'WoW' this game up....I'm rather enjoying it.
I would have thought the XP bonus for someone's first run would have made groups want people who have not done the zone before but I guess some people just can't look past speed runs.
Same thing happened with The Secret World, and that's why I didn't stick around. All these companies need to do is release a lobby game with instances and a gear grind, and they would get the exact same people playing it. Why even make the rest of the game world?
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Funny, I made a thread about three years ago saying the same thing. Start everyone off in cloth and wooden weapons. Then queue up for a instance. Give the mmo 100 dungeons and let the pvers have at it.
Originally posted by bcbully Another shining example of how the pve crowd, denying content. But the pvprs are the bad ones though huh?
Yeah, because there is absolutely no elitism or berating new players in PvP right?
When leveling I would ask if people had not done the boss before and as the tank I had the prerogative to not pull until I got a satisfactory answer. However, even then I had people wipe the group because they didnt what to do.
Dont be afraid to say you're new and if people yell at you for it then black list them and see if one of the other party members is more helpful.
But that also doesnt mean you should entirely rely on others for this information. If you have the time to come to a message board and complain that others complained about your ignorance then you also have the to research the fights in question.
Once you hit a high LV dungeon (45+) the community become very toxin almost like MOBA almost (rude, griefer, vocal harassment ,etc. you name it)
Just finished Castrum Meridianum 8 mans easy raid, with 3 new peoples (1 off tank, 2 DPS) who never came there before got told by another DPS and healer not to watch cutscene because it's waste their time (they want to farm token but can't speed run AK anymore so they came CM instead). The new people didn't know the fight when I try to explained to them those Elitist didn't let me and start pull boss by themselves (come to think of it I should let them die).
Surprisingly, Not a single wipe happened I think they do a very good job for the first time in a raid. However, this is what they got instead of compliment.
Elitist DPS to off tank - you fuxxx noob uninstall the game if I see you again in duty finder I will leave (go ahead and wait for at least 1hr to find a new group).
Elitist healer - You don't need to kill everythings in here stop wasting my fuxxx time (me pull anyway you mad? bro ) - Thx for group and let me tank all the adds LOL (if he really let you tank all the adds you will die within 3 sec but you did't die not once).
My advice to anyone who will doing these thing soon find a FC or linkshell and stick with them don't use duty finder if you can't tolerate these thing.
if people don't like their time wasted then they shouldn't use dungeon finders. its stupid to expect a party generated from a pool of completely random players to be even somewhat decent. By bailing out of a game you put everybody else back into a queue, which is especially annoying for dps classes (i'm a tank so I don't actually have this problem but I sympathize with them). SE should implement 1 hr dungeon finder leaving debuff for people toxic enough to bail on their team in the middle of a dungeon. if you are tired of having to deal with the nuances that are part of playing with randoms, then don't play with randoms.
By your own argument/logic shouldn't someone who doesn't know the fights or interested in the story avoid Dungeon Finders so they don't have to deal with the reality of playing with randoms? Because the reality is just as you'll find people who might be doing it their first time or want to watch the story, you'll also find people who have done it 30 times and just want to get through it for loot or tokens.
The sense of entitlement in people like you is made all the more ridiculous by how much you completely ignore it exists in yourself.
Unfortunately that always happens, too many people equate winning with fun. And while winning is fun, how you win matters so much more.
"gogogo, I need moar lootz plz, only geerd peeples." -The rallying cry of people who ruin communities.
I think the base problem is the gear treadmill. We need another game like Guild Wars 1 (and *not* guild wars 2...) where there is no treadmill at all. You play the game because you enjoy the game.
I know that "play the game because you enjoy the game" seems obvious, but with today's MMO crowd it is anything but. They tend to play the game because they hate the game but are addicted to a gear treadmill and want to get to the next level. "More drug please, gimme my treadmill" they basically say.
I would not feel the need to announce first time,i would expect respect no matter what.
I could read prior to entering but obviously we all have questions until we try it once or twice.
This is why Guilds are suppose to help games, they are SUPPOSE to be created to help each other and answer questions.Problem is so many guilds are formed for selfish reasons, the leader wants a bunch of people to help him/her speed level and finish all dungeons real fast.
I have been in many guilds and no matter what anyone says there is always a level of selfishness. That is why i usually lol at Guild rules because most guild leaders break half of them.If you are trying to solo this or any game, then you better expect lots of rude people along the way.
I would like to offer some advice, turn your chat off or don't look at it.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I am still waiting for someone to explain to me the reason why demanding a whole team to adapt to your inexperience and unwillingness to prepare yourself for high level content makes you any less entitled than me asking you to be prepared.
I mean, at the very least we feel just as entitled as we both ask the other to adapt to our own way to play, and no, your way to play is not morally superior to mine in any way or shape.
And what is up with that lame "if you want good teams get friends instead of the LFG"?
I could tell you the same and claim that if you want patient and kind players willing to explore with you, you should get friends that actually want to do the same.
Again, at the very least we feel as much entitled as you do.
And finally, there is something that seems to escape you when it comes to the whole "fun" thing.
Many of you claim stuff such as "wiping and slowly learning the fight is fun, you should focus on that and not the loot".
The major flaw in that logic is that yes, for the one player that is making 7 other players lag behind because "he is learning" it may be a world of fun but for everyone else it is just a nuisance.
-We are not learning the fight
-We are not "slowly getting things and doing them right"
-We are not "enjoying the difficulty"
-We are not getting that enjoyment from finally avoiding that one mechanic that owned us 7 times in a row.
We are here sitting, helpless as we are unable to down the boss and progress because apparently you re having the time of your mmo-life getting squashed under the dragon´s foot for the sixth time in a row.
This is bad enough once or twice but it gets obnoxious when you literally spend evening after evening repeating this process with every Bob IamNew that crosses your lfg.
OH! and let me tell you, that just as much as you complain about rude elitists, i also met my fair share of less experienced rude players that begin to insult the party, refuse to listen to tactics and just ignore everyone as they make everyone else fail just to blame the healer or the tank.
Also already seeing people grieving over those waiting on cinematics.
Please don't 'WoW' this game up....I'm rather enjoying it.
Since I started FF14 the things that really got me enjoying the game where the music, graphics, all the little details that are throwbacks to jrpgs that I loved to play. The thing this game has that other MMOs I've played in the last few years didn't is immersion.
I did the first group dungeon today, and it killed it for me. I wasn't sure I liked the idea of being forced to do dungeons to progress the storyline- I've really become burned out on that type of content, but I decided to not worry about it and try to have fun. Things started off well until the tank made a mistake and the healer died. It was no big deal and it took less than a minute to recover, but the healer was quite annoyed and said "so much for holding agro." We continued on but the tank who was leading the way made a wrong turn, which annoyed the other dps and resulted in some impatient and rudely given directions.
This isn't even close to terrible behavior in these type of groups I know, but this is the very first dungeon in the game. People can't leave behind all the dungeon crawls they have done in countless other games before this one, they expect everyone to know the content and their classes even though that's totally unrealistic. The problem is that group instanced dungeons are so damned meta. From the moment we started I felt like I was no longer playing a new and exciting game- it might as well have been happening in wow or swtor.
I know people champion the forced group content because they feel like its the way it has to be to really be an MMO experience. But there are so many other ways that players interact- chatting, questing, the economy, just supporting the game by playing their own ways. Forcing this stuff on players isn't necessary.
It's just the era and the veteran culture that surrounds this model of MMO that has been around for well over a decade by now. If you've done quests and dungeons in one game, you've done them in all games. Once upon a time, when the concept of dungeons was brand new, nobody (or at least very few) had such high expectations of their peers; everyone was completely new to the gameplay mode. But at this point, if you've mastered speed dungeon runs in 5 other MMOs, those experiences carry over through your overall MMO experience, and you expect to do the same in whatever new MMO you play.
I agree that it's unpleasant when you run into this mentality in a new MMO, but I completely understand why it exists. I'd also remark that I've had plenty of friendly full newbie groups where we had a lot of fun exploring and learning new content the old fashioned way.

"WoWing this game up" is really the only way to solve this issue. The difficulty of the upper level dungeons isn't conducive to randoms at all.
